Four suspected cultists have been beheaded in the supremacy battle between two rival cult groups in Rivers State.

The clash started, last night, between Iceland and Deybam cult groups in Ovogo and Rumuji communities.

The heads of the victims were seen scattered all over the area when indigenes woke up today.

A high number of security operatives were, on Wednesday, deployed to strategic positions at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, ahead of the working visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state.

NAN reports that the security operatives were already at their respective positions at about 7.15am.

They included officers from the Nigeria air force (NAF), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Also on ground were officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who were observed controlling the traffic situation within the airport and its environs.

NAN reports that Buhari is visiting Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, to inaugurate some projects executed by the Lagos state government.

The projects are – Institute of maternal and child health (Ayinke House), Lagos theatre, Oshodi transport interchange and international airport road as well as 820 mass transit buses.

Meanwhile, some roads are closed during the president’s official visit to the state on Wednesday.

Motorists are advised to avoid the roads while those who find it unavoidable to ply the listed roads were advised to be patient and co-operate with traffic managers.

At least ten suspected cultists have been killed at separate cult clashes in Sagamu and Iperu area of Ogun State during cult clashes between rival groups which started Monday night.

While about Nine of them were reportedly killed between Monday and Tuesday in Sagamu, one other member of Eiye was reportedly killed in his shop in Iperu allegedly by the Aiye group.

According to reports, the crisis broke out in Sagamu between the cult rivals groups during a night party tagged Easter Mega Night show and six years anniversary of a group called ‘Infinity Base’ organised by a man identified as Basogun.

It was further gathered that the crises dated back to the election period where a member of Aiye confraternity was killed by cult members believed to be Eiye members and since then, there has been a no love lost relationship between the two dominant groups in Sagamu.

Irate youth have taken over the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway after some police officers from Zonal Intervention Squad of Zone 2 Police Command opened fire during the Akogun festival in Ifo, Ogun State, killing one and injuring many.

The identity of the innocent deceased was revealed as Akeem Akinsanya, 25. The plainclothes officers were in the area to arrest a man identified as Abu Regar, and after the arrest they started shooting sporadically as they were leaving.

Fortunately, the officers were arrested on the spot and the Ogun State police commissioner, Bashir Makama, has ordered that they should be whisked to Abeokuta for disciplinary action.

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed claims that he is not a Nigerian by birth.

In his submission at the presidential election tribunal, Atiku detailed “how he is a Nigerian by birth”, saying he has a right to contest the presidential election.

The PDP candidate had gone to court to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, his APC rival at the poll.

But the ruling party told the tribunal that Atiku is not a Nigerian by birth and thus, not qualified to run for president, going by the provisions of the 1999 constitution.

Atiku said he was born in Jada, Adamawa state, by Nigerian parents and is therefore a citizen of Nigeria by birth.

He also argued that his parents were both Fulani, a community/tribe indigenous to Nigeria.

Two friends cheated death on Sunday April 21, 2019 when their car somersaulted twice after hitting a street light pole on Berger bridge near Mabushi in Abuja.

An eyewitness who was about to cross the road, said he saw the car suddenly swerve away from the road, before hitting the street light pole and burst into flame upon impact.

However, help came the way of the victims as car owners and passers-by rushed to quench the burning vehicle with water and fire extinguishers.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), was on ground to take the victims to the hospital

The Imo State police command has arrested a 23-year-old lady, Chinonye Oparaocha, for selling her baby boy, just 6 hours after his birth on February 2, 2019, at a clinic along #Nekede Road in #Owerri

Chinonye allegedly conspired with one Confidence Anyanwu, a 28-year-old nurse, and her husband, Amaeze Anyanwu, now at large. Amaeze carried the baby to Port – Harcourt, Rivers State, where one Duru Christian was waiting for him.

On arrival, Duru, in company of one George Iyowuna, met him, collected the boy and handed him over to a buyer, one Mrs. William Cynthia and her husband who eventually paid the sum of N850, 000.

However, on April, 13, operatives of the Scorpion Squad arrested the suspects and recovered the baby already named Abiya William, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate
