Police begin investigation, cancel Naira Marley’s show in Dublin due to gang violence

There was chaos at an event headlined by Naira Marley, last night, in Dublin, as the state police force of the Republic of Ireland were forced to shut down the venue after a gang of youth were spotted fleeing the scene.

According to DubaiLive, the incident occurred at Lost Lane before the artist took to the stage to perform.

The scene remained closed off to the public today and the police have since confirmed that a number of weapons have been seized and a man in his 20s arrested in connection with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "A number of offensive weapons were located after the youths departed and were seized. Investigations are ongoing."

Barely three days into the BBNaija 2019, Tacha has simply won herself a task in the house.

Tacha, one of the audience favourites and Instagram sensation won a task given by Big Brother. The ladies seemed to be having fun doing their task which saw Khafi coming behind Tacha in the task.

Biggie tested Housemates' creativity today when he gave them a task that involved threading needles and composing songs.

Tacha has always wanted to be on Big Brother Naija. It comes as no surprise then, that getting picked to be a Housemate this season, is the highlight of her life.

The Housemates were grouped into two. The ladies on one hand and the gentlemen on the other. The men were given fifteen minutes to jointly compose a song and perform the song while the ladies carried out their task. The task was to thread all the needles on one length of thread. As they do this, the men sang for them with the intention to either ‘ginger’ them or to distract them.

Eleven plates containing needles were placed on the dining table for the ladies. As soon as the ladies heard the task, some of them with long nails started filing their artificial nails.

For the composition, Omashola, with his cracked voice, was not deterred as he composed the tune to which they added the lyrics. The song that emerged from this exercise was an acapella.

When the task was completed, the ladies formed a single line based on the result of the task. The winner, Tacha followed by Khafi and they were instructed by Biggie to go to the Garden to select a cup and reveal its contents. Tacha, though the winner of the task, didn't get any Bet9ja coins.

Jackye, Thelma, Avala, Mercy and Esther all found Bet9ja Coins and were congratulated by Biggie.

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has sacked eight commissioners. Obaseki reshuffled his executive after he returned from Abuja.

Immediate past Speaker of the House of Assembly, Kabiru Adjoto, was appointed a Special Adviser.

Those sacked were Joseph Ugheoke (Energy and Water Resources); Magdalene Ohenhen (Women Affairs and Social Development) and Osahon Amiolemen (Commissioner for Infrastructure).

Others were Dr. David Osifo (Health); Mika Amanokha (Youths and Special Duties); Mariam Abubakar (Budget); Emmanuel Usoh (Wealth Creation, Cooperatives and Employment); Dr. Christopher Adesotu (Science and Technology).

A statement by Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, reads: “The following persons have been nominated for appointment as commissioners – Damian Lawani; Joe Ikpea; Felix Akhabue; Moses Agbakor; Momoh Oise Omorogbe and Marie Edeko.

“The government offers its gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service and assures of continued cordial relations in the years ahead, while congratulating the newly appointed commissioners and special advisers, urging them to serve the people with integrity.”

The statement advised the outgoing commissioners to hand over all government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries, and wished them well in their future endeavors.

Others appointed Special Advisers are Magdalene Ohenhen; Osaigbovo Iyoha; Andrew Momodu and Ojo Asien.

Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court 1 sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 convicted and sentenced one Quadri Sulaimon Ayobami to three months in prison over fraudulent impersonation.

The 20-year-old undergraduate of Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki was convicted on a one count amended charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.

Quadri was convicted of the offence which contravens Section 22(3) (b) and punishable under Section 22 (4) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention Etc) Act, 2015.

He was initially arraigned on June 26, 2019 on a five-count charge to which he pleaded not guilty. The charges were later amended due to his plea bargain agreement with the Commission.

The amended charge reads: "That you, Quadri Sulaimon Ayobami sometimes in 2018, at Ibadan, Oyo State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable court, fraudulently impersonated one Kate Linda via your email katelindabooxo@gmail,com wherein you falsely represented to Kenneth Stroud that you are a woman known as Kate Linda which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22(3)(b) and punishable under Section 22 (4) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention Etc) Act,2015."

After the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, EFCC's counsel, Murtala Usman, prayed the court to accept the terms of the plea bargain agreement.

Justice Ajoku thereafter convicted and sentenced Quadri to three months in prison with effect from his day of arrest.

The court also ordered that the convict restitute the sum of USD207 (Two Hundred and Seven United States Dollars); and also forfeit one black Infinix Hot X606 phone to the Federal Government of Nigeria, being part of the benefit he derived from his fraudulent acts.

The Ondo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 95-year-man, James Salihu, for allegedly dealing in Indian hemp.

It was gathered on Wednesday that the suspect was arrested by detectives from the state command of the agency in Supare Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

A source at the command stated that the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off by some members of the community.

“Salihu is a notorious drug addict and he has been operating in that community for many years without being caught, but this time, he could not escape being arrested by the NDLEA officers,” the source said.

It was, however, gathered that the nonagenarian was not in a good condition of health, which made the command to grant him an administrative bail with a doctor detailed to monitor and attend to him.

The source insisted that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“He (Salihu) will be transferred to Akure as soon as his health condition is stable for onward prosecution inthe court of law. Nobody is above the law irrespective of their age, sex or social class. He has been arrested for a criminal offence and it is only the court that can pronounce him guilty or otherwise,” the source stated.

In his reaction, the state Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Haruna Gagara, who confirmed the development, described the suspect as an irresponsible old man, who failed to live an exemplary life worthy of emulation by the younger ones.

The commander added that the suspect would be prosecuted as soon as he was confirmed fit by the medical doctor.

Big Brother Naija star, Bamike popularly known as BamBam, has also revealed that she was raped by her ex-boyfriend and a spiritual leader.

This is coming in the wake of the rape saga between Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) and singer Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola.

It was with an ex boyfriend and a spiritual leader I trusted. Took me meeting another man who saw me for me before I healed completely. Sadly I couldn’t end up with him, but God used him.

Be kind to women, some men have been raped too. Truly be kind to people, you don’t know what true love and true transfer of kindness love and light can do to another person. I’m in tears as I type cos it hurts really bad just remembering and knowing how victims feel.

I tried not to relate this to my personal self but when you hear experiences you lived, you become restless, memories hunt you. I have been refreshing all the updates on the movement/protest for tomorrow.

Some Nigerians have expressed their shock over the choice of housemates in the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the season kicked off on Sunday with 21 housemates, most of whom some viewers have described as “more foreign than Nigerian.”

Respondents said that it was puzzling how Manchester-based Mike, London police office Khafi and Ike, who said this was his first one in Lagos, made the cut while thousands of Nigerians flooded audition centres in February.

NAN recalls that audition centres across the country were crowded with people struggling to get in by scaling the fence.

Viewers felt it was unfair to have people risk lives to audition and then pick Nigerians in the diaspora.

@Omojuwa said, “I have a problem with everyday Nigerians struggling across the country to audition for this thing, yet it appears they stood no chance from the beginning.

“That should have been made clear to them from the start. Big Brother Phonetics.It appears this is Big Brother Nigeria Diaspora.”
