A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that a farmer, Terseer Angbee, who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death, be remanded in prison, pending legal advice. The magistrate, J. O Ayia, who gave the order, did not take the plea of Mr Angbee, because the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Mr Anyia ordered the police to send the case file to the Benue Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. She adjourned the case until August 26, for further mention. Earlier, the prosecutor, Godwin Ato, told the court that the case was reported by Mr Torngu Mwaikyoga of Tse Agu Mbajor Tombo at Buruku police station. Mr Ato alleged that Mr Angbee stabbed the complainant’s father, Mwaikyoga Yandev, during an argument after the suspect uprooted some orange trees. The victim, he said, later died at the General Hospital Buruku, from the stab wounds. The prosecutor alleged that the suspect confessed to the crime during investigation. The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 222 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State, 2004. Fleeing Pastor Jeremiah Ehindero, the G.O of Jesu Miracle Church, Sango-Ota, Ogun State, has been arrested by the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, for allegedly stealing a Toyota High Lander valued at N1.2 million from a car dealer. He was alleged to have sold the car in Ore, Ondo State, for N600,000 and escaped. Other suspects arrested with him over their involvement in the alleged crime included Lateef Oyetunde who allegedly purchased the stolen SUV; Jamiu Abiodun, 35 and Lukman Moyoyesa, both of who allegedly introduced the buyer to the pastor. According to the police, trouble started for the pastor when he went to a car sales outlet belonging to one Jamiu to introduce himself as a pastor and that he needed a Toyota Highlander for evangelism purpose. . . After the car dealer and the pastor agreed on N1.2m for the car, he trusted the pastor and allowed him to test drive it, only for him to drive off to Ondo State, where he sold it for N600,000 and escaped. When the car dealer waited for 24 hours without seeing the Pastor and his SUV, he reported the matter to the police who got the suspect arrested. Ehindero confessed to the crime and blamed it on the devil. According to him: “I decided to steal the SUV and use the proceeds to settle the N650,000 I borrowed from Mirco-finance bank in Lagos. I borrowed the money to renovate my church and to recover the investment from tithes and offerings. I was surprised that for three months, no money was realized to repay the loan. When the pressure from the micro Finance became too unbearable for me, the devil told me to steal a vehicle from a car dealer to sell and use the proceeds to repay the loan. I regret my action.” See more here; http://gistmore.com/no-one-paid-tithe-so-i-stole-a-car-to-pay-my-debt-pastor

down by protesting members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) today Saturday, August 10th over the rampant cases of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. The protesting students stormed the South African-owned mall at about 11am with placards carrying inscriptions such as: “South Africans must go'', ''Enough of the killing of our brothers, sisters, and relatives in South Africa'', ''You can’t continue to kill our people and still feed fat on us'' and many others.’’ The National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Azeez Adeyemi, who spoke on behalf of the protesting students, said “NANS’ leadership under its President, Mr Danielson Bamidele, have resolved to champion the struggle of putting sense back into lawless South Africans. It seems the government of South Africa derives pleasure from the senseless killings and sees the continuous xenophobic attacks on Nigerians residents in South Africa as a norm. NANS’ struggle against xenophobia has moved beyond ordinary street protests. Our target now is to mobilise Nigerian students and Nigerians towards truncating the smooth running of South African businesses in Nigeria. We shall resume here at Shoprite, Stanbic IBTC, MTN and Multichoice on Aug. 14 for a total shut down. This is a struggle that will continue until the victory of purpose is achieved,” Adeyemi said. Recall that on Thursday August 8th, protesting students picketed MTN, DSTV and Stanbic IBTC Bank offices in Abeokuta and Adamawa state to express their displeasure at the relentless killing of Nigerians in South Africa. The police in Ogun have arrested a murder suspect, Oladosu Nureni, for allegedly shooting two residents of Iwoye village, Ilaro, to death. The police said Nureni, aka Otelee, was tracked down on Wednesday, five months after he committed the crime and fled. The spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Friday, said Nureni killed one Onifade Ajani with a dane gun on March 27, 2019, over a yet-to-be-known issue. He reportedly shot another person, Olatunji Ayinla, while residents of the community were trying to disarm him. Abimbola stated that the suspect went into hiding afterwards until around 10 pm on Wednesday when the police got wind of his presence at a neighbouring village, Irogun-Ishaga. He said, “Men of the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, arrested one Oladosu Nureni aka Otelee over the murder of two persons in Iwoye village, Ilaro. The suspect on March 27, 2019, reportedly killed one Onifade Ajani with dane gun for a yet-to-be known reason, and while the community people were trying to apprehend him, he used the same dane gun to kill another person by name Olatunji Ayinla and had been on the run since then. “On August 7, 2019, the Area Commander, ACP Chris Adeyeri, received information that the suspect had been sighted at Irogun-Ishaga village, consequent upon which he mobilised his men and stormed the village where the suspect was arrested at about 10.20pm.
