morpheus24: Glad more people are taking these tests. You come about average of most African Americans at 13-30% European and the rest African.
Keep in mind though that the other parts of your West African DNA do matter in your overall identity and though we are proud that you are mostly Nigerian, you must also venerate your other ancestors from the other parts of the continent. Absolutely without a doubt! All my ancestors matter!!! I pay homage to them all! |

Pidgin2: Good, then you can get a teaching job there but it's a lot easier getting teaching jobs in a commercial city like Lagos. As for tailoring, I like that, the indigenes will patronize you as they are very friendly but hope your price will not be set too high.
Calabar is mainly a civil service city so if you are okay with an average laid-back lifestyle then you'll be fine. Thank you I really appreciate this. All your information really helps. |

What kind of business do you do, will you continue while in Nigeria or you're planning to get a job? I am a tailor and teach English I would hope to be able to continue my entrepreneurship |

cutieme: Look at this frustrated thing!who invited you here? Why are you trolling peoples post here and making a fool of yourself everyday?Ain't you tired of insults meted on you?Why can't you back off people's post?Does it mean you have no better thing to do?Well then,go get yourself a man and face better things other. Here that you're always visiting and making a caricature of yourself isn't helpful in any way, rather it is dwindling and demeaning your personality.Pls heed to my advice and comply instead of exposing your folly intermitently.Where in this buhari dispensation can one get a one way ticket or something for 12k to ghana. You see how u dey yab yourself more and more say you no dey enlightened in travelling matters because when last i visited ghana,i spent double that amount just for one way trip so how do u expect it to be 12k even in this recession ravaging everywhere.Get some wisdom pls and grow up. Well that escalated quickly.. |

Pidgin2: Which day will u actually travel? All your threads are about one African country or the other, nawa it's not that hard na. With N12K you can get a one way pass to Ghana enroute Benin and Togo so you can actually alight in any of those countries, the next thing is putting some money aside for housing, etc, make Google your friend. I'm not sure of the actully day Ive just gotten to Senegal less than 2 months ago. It takes time, preparation, and MONEY to be able to move around! I'm carefully planning my journey. |

Pidgin2: Lovely description. If I was in the OP's shoes, I will pick Calabar as a first time settler. I think it's so much easier to settle in Calabar because life is generally easier there but both places are cool. Calabar is definitely sounding like the place to be! I've heard good things about it in the past so that's what made me interested |

Rain Season doesn't start until July. I'm in the capital city Dakar. If you go deeper into Senegal it's greener. The good thing about it though is there is less mosquitoes because it's so dry here. |

Marcelo290: Calabar is a tourist destination, one of the most visited in the country, the state capital of Cross River State, there are several attractions here like the Calabar carnival which holds at the end of the year, you would find tinapa resorts and many relaxation places, It is a very neat city with both Natural and artistic beauty, also a very relevant and important place while talking about the Nigerian history. It is located in the South South region of Nigeria.
Abia on the other hand, is a state on it's own, Located in the Eastern part of the country and predominantly dominated by the Igbos, it's capital city is Umuahia, but most economic and industrial activities in the state take place in Aba, a place renowned for business and trade in the country...
So it all depends on you and your reason for visiting, Nigeria on it's own is a large country with a diverse and very rich culture, you can aswell google these places for better information as what I said is only subjective to my little knowledge about them. Thank you for all that information! Calabar sounds like a good fit! I would definitely love to come around the time that the carnival takes place. It really sounds like I would enjoy it there. |

Senegal is rapidly developing, stable and safe. I'm not sure about the job sector yet but there is alot of entrepreneurship going on |

viver1: For visits, hanging out and cooling off, Calabar. For Business & stuff, Abia. Also note that Calabar is a city in Cross River State and Abia is a State of its own. Thank you for the correction! Cross River State! |

Hello nairalanders! I am planning to visit Nigeria hopefully by 2019! I am considering staying in Abia state or Calabar state but I am curious to know more about the two states. I have been trying to get to Nigeria for a LONG time and the timing has just been off everytime! If you have been following me you know that I am an African American and looking to get closer to my roots in Africa. Well, I am currently living in Senegal! I like it here but Nigeria has always been my first love.. Anyway, I am still looking forward to that trip! Can anyone give me some information on Abia and Calabar? The different culture in the states, the ethnic groups, the safety, "must sees", cost of living, languages spoken (besides English) and stuff like that lol!!! Thanks! |
