Culture / I'm Officially Nigerian by Glamrock(f): 12:19am On May 04, 2016
Hi nairalanders grin i have been apart of the site for a while now, my studies have been keeping me a bit distant but i always log in to see whats new from time to time.. anyway i just want to share something with you all that my soul has been telling me from the beginning. Thanks to ancestrydna for confirming that I am Nigerian! And yes it's a BIG deal. I'm putting missing pieces of my family history back together and it is empowering! It's amazing what your ancestors will do for you if you let them guide you.

Culture / Re: Should Black People From The Diaspora Go Back To African Names? by Glamrock(f): 6:37am On Jun 19, 2015
I like the thought, but it's more so the last names that link us to slavery. most African Americans still carry the last names of the slave masters who owned our families, you will rarely find an African American with an African last name.

I thought it would show the particular part of africa you come from, because it is very obvious that your ancestors are originally from sub-saharan Africa just by the way you look.

Yes I've traced my mother's s side to 3 countries but I'm waiting on 2 more test it's a long process. When it's complete I plan to make a thread about my journey to share

That's really strange, i would have thought the european genes would have at least curled the hair up, seems african genes are really dominant (or not), so what does the 13% represent cause even many 100% africans have your skin colour?

African genes are very dominant , the 13% would have to Have come from slavery as white men use to rape the slaves to breed more, so it's in my bloodline. No one in my family is white
