To respond, your question is out of place. Why should a graduate by asking how he/she fits into an organization you submitted application to yourself. Let even assume you don't really know, what prevent you from making research on the internet knowing that you are planning to work with the organization. We are so comfortable with half knowledge we get in forum like this instead of digging from the source ourselves. This is a reflection of our educational system and economy today because we are all in a fast lane wanting to get things fast and thereby putting aside the need to be thorough. Oga please try and prepare a meal of 'fufu and oha soup' that will hold you all day instead of making 2 mins noodles.

Bro, do your research adequately before posting here so as not to mis-educate people. To start with, liquids can be compressed due to the weak inter-molecular forces between them. 2: four-stroke engines could be of diesel or gasoline. The difference is that in a diesel, combustion occurs by just compression of the fuel-air mixture. In a gasoline engine, combustion occurs via spark plugs. This is why diesel engines are said to have a higher thermal efficiency than gasoline engines. The heat generated during compression alone is enough to bring about combustion.
Theoretically, liquid are not compressible. In practical, liquid compression is so insignificant. Generally, we compress gas and displace liquid.

So if a pressure relief valve are mounted to remove excess pressure that may build up due to any reason and keep the flow rate within a safe working operation, then the valve is not only acting as a safety valve but also as a flow regulator because absent of it will increase the pressure and when pressure increase, flow also increase
Pressure could be a resistance to flow. High pressure does not always mean high flow rate.

We all are learning, am still a boy in the oil and gas and I be boy for where u dey. If my experience in the oil and gas where to above 5years, I would have apply for EH like u, we still need ur contribution here,we are only sharing idea and we learn from each other. But don't see us as those just talking from what we read in book, some of us are working in the oil and gas sector too
I always feel happy when I share knowledge with people. We all are learning and will never stop learning until we quit. Our experience will amount to nothing if we can share it with one another. Cheers

We are talking about the use of valve and u said they don't stop and start flow and I explain to u how they stop and start flow, tanker discharge petroleum product at the filling station by gravity, is that domestic use? Visit tank farm and see more flow by gravity
Note also that temperature increase the pressure in pipeline, especially if the pipeline carry PMS

My guy oil and gas is wide, try understand what happen in the upstream, midstream and the downstream, don't limit ur explanation to only the upstream cos NNPC operate in all the streams
Sorry, am not going to argue with you. We learn everyday. Even with my experience in the industry, I still open up to learning from our vendors. What you read in books are guides to real field realities. Am for EH but I still come to this thread to check on technical contribution I could benefit from.

When u remove excess pressure along a line such that the flow remain constant, what are u regulating? And that is what pressure relief valve does, it regulate flow.

If I have product stored in a tank such that the product flow out by gravity and I close the valve along the line in which the product fow out, what have the valve done? It stop the flow and when I open the valve, it start the flow again. I don't need pump to stop and start flow under gravity, is valve that does that

For more information on valve, check shell SITP training material, u will see the 3 things I mention
In a process design, there is what we call operating pressure and maximum allowable working pressure. It is desirable for you to keep your operation within the designed operating pressure. However, pressure build up comes up at times due to improper lining of valves, problem with instrument air that operates SDV. Pressure relief valves are mounted along the spool to prevent the pressure from building up to the maximum allowable working pressure. MAWP is based on the pipe schedule.

In oil and gas operation, you don't usually rely on gravity to push flow. In tank application, you normally have a recycle pump to push the flow. For a wellhead, because the downhole formation pressure is high enough to create desired flow rate, a choke valve and some other valves are used.

You only rely on gravity to drive flow in domestic application.

To throw more light.
1, under those that stop and start flow, u have valve like gate valve, butterfly valve, ball valve etc
2, Under those that regulate flow, u have the pressure relief valve and they are usually spring loaded, the spring is design with a certain pressure in view. When the pressure on the line exceed what the spring can hold, it pushes the spring and the valve open for some fluid to flow out of the line to regulate the pressure.
3 under those that stop back flow, u have the check valve
Pressure relief valve and pressure safety valve are both safety valves and not for flow regulation. One is used in liquid application and the other in gas application

You do not use valves to stop and start flow, pumps are used to stop and start flow. When you use valves to stop flow in a stream, it creates back pressure on the line.

Check valves are designed to stop back flow in operation. Not all valves prevent back flow.

Yeah, control valves regulate flow

That is good but they do more than that. The do basically 3 things
1, To stop and start flow
2, To regulate flow
3, To stop back flow

Let some one bring question too na

Please understand the difference between joint venture and subsidiary. NNPC is in joint venture with the IOCs (Total, ExxonMobil, SPDC etc.) and LOCs (Seplat, Newcross, Frontier oil etc.). Crude production by these IOCs and LOCs is shared 60:40 with NNPC owning 60%. For a subsidiary, NNPC entirely own and run the operation of the company. Duke oil and Hyson are subsidiaries.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 12:44pm On Sep 09, 2013
I spoke with one of the consultants. He said TCN will get to all by next week Friday at most, but we should expect their call anytime from this week.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 7:09am On Aug 30, 2013
Well, i don't think south south candidates have had any contact with their consultant since after the call for their LGA confirmation.

@Esunam, where is the source of your information?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 11:43am On Aug 11, 2013
@ solution guy, please don't misunderstand me, as I spoke with south south consultant about 2 weeks ago and they told me they have submitted everything to ministry of power and we will not be hearing again from them. I thought same was for other regions. The tone in your reply was a bit aggressive and there was no need for that. I wish your brother well
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 7:46am On Aug 11, 2013
Submitting information to consultants now does not add up. Consultants have submitted the outcome of their recruitement to ministry of power since 3 weeks ago
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 8:29am On Aug 07, 2013
Transmission is always handled by government. That is how they can control the sector. In UK generation and distribution are handled by private companies while the 'National Grid' is run by the government. USA also have this kind of structure. TCN was not sold, Manitoba Hydro is just a concessionaire to manage TCN for some period and also train Nigerians that will take it over from them.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 7:32am On Aug 07, 2013
@Ogunwale01, The 11 Distribution companies and 6 generation companies have been sold to private companies, why should govt. recruit for them? Wallex1983 is right, Distribution and generation pay more
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 6:23am On Aug 07, 2013
@Ogunwale01, 33/11 KV is not a transmission line. The recruitment is for TCN and not distribution. More so, Distribution Companies have been privatized.

The recruitment consultants have forwarded their outcomes to ministry of power since about 2 weeks ago. some people received calls asking for their LGA. That call was actually from Federal ministry of power. I believe they are trying to gain formal approval from the Minister to move to the next phase of the process, which might be documentation.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 8:48am On Aug 01, 2013
@Ogunwale, am not arguing with you, the facts are there. i have been in private sector for over 6 yrs. For those that work in Lagos, will not have any issue with this submission. If you don't use aptitude test and interview, what do you use then? Aptitude test is used to to select whose reactions and thinking to situation are quicker than others. Research has shown that with training almost anybody can do a particular job, but in that same training, some will learn faster and be ready to take up the assignment spending lesser resources to train them. If you don't believe in aptitude test, you should have disputed university exams grading that lead to classification of degrees.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Gloom: 7:46am On Aug 01, 2013
Peeps, why all these juggle and tussle on salary and where trainings will be held? let us for once behave like learned people. one of the contributor to this thread said the will call everybody as far as you were up to 50% efficient during the interview because it is a GOVERNMENT JOB. This is the reason why civil service worker don't perform like their counterpart in private sector. In developed nations, the best hands work for the government and not average people. We should change our mentality and see government jobs as privilege to serve others because you are the best amongst them. For trainings, I think NAPTIN has the capacity to train engineers to take up the assignment, and some others might be trained abroad based on requirement. remember officer 1, officer 2 and officer 4 were interviewed, these categories might be trained separately. We should all prayed that power sector reform should work properly and remuneration will not be a problem. Power jobs pays very well in countries where power network are well optimized.
