Anybody in any political position must guard his utterance because whatever he says can and most definitely will be used against him #duh.
When i first saw a thread on fp quoting Gej to have said that stealing is not corruption, i didnt even bother to open it because i knew he was very capable of such. This is the same man that claimed that he knew the sponsors of boko haram yet he has still not crush them.
But today when i saw another topic on fp in which a lawyer claimed that stealing is indeed corruption i finally decided to educate myself on this stealing-corruption business.
The lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay was of the opinion that stealing is indeed corruption but his definition of both term were not in agreement with his claim.
First he defined stealing as taking what belongs to another
person without the consent of the owner with the intention of
keeping it permanently, then he defined corruption as using an office to
acquire the resources of an
organisation without working
for it and without the organisation’s awareness.
Oxford dictionary sees corruption as to Cause to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain.
From the above definitions it is very obvious that even though corruption is a form of stealing, stealing is not corruption.
Every issue in Nigeria does not have to be viewed through a partisan prism. Lets learn to call a spade a spade.
