Former President Muhammadu Buhari was laid to rest on Tuesday evening at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, following Islamic burial rites witnessed by an array of national and international dignitaries.

His burial, which took place at approximately 5:50 p.m., was attended by President Bola Tinubu; President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau; Prime Minister of Niger Republic, Ali Lamine Zeine; Vice President Kashim Shettima; Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; business magnate Aliko Dangote; and other top government officials and associates.

Buhari had passed away on Sunday, July 13, in London at the age of 82, following a brief illness

The convoy conveying the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Daura, Katsina State for final interment.

The convoy left the Katsina airport after Buhari’s body was received by President Bola Tinubu on the tarmac.

The presidential jet conveying the body from London touched down at the Katsina State airport at about 2pm.

The remains of the former President was accompanied from London by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and family members.

Buhari died in London Clinic on Sunday at the age of 82 where he was treating an undisclosed illness.

Following the news of his death, Tinubu had dispatched Shettima to London to accompany the remains back to Nigeria.

The immediate past president will be laid to rest according to Islamic rites in his residence in Daura.

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari has departed London in the United Kingdom for Daura, Katsina State, ahead of a state burial in the honour of the late ex-Nigerian leader.

The body of the late president was conveyed on a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) craft on Tuesday before 8am.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other top government officials accompanied the body of the late former president.

Buhari passed on on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital, at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness, though the nature of the illness was not disclosed. He was 82.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive the body of the late president in Katsina by Tuesday noon.

But I don't know why African leaders have refused to build good hospitals that can treat them, they prefer going abroad for medical treatment after serving for so many years, even our current president doesn't believe in our health care system, we still have a long way to go.

I regretted because he disappointed me and millions of Nigerians, I chosed him over goodluck Jonathan whom all my friends and family members voted for though I supported Jonathan in 2011

I voted for him in 2015, a decision I later regretted, I thought he was the messiah we've been waiting for then, but here we are today with another terrible government.

Naija politicians are terrible, only God knows what the senator has done with the money because nothing is happening on that road, passing through this road whether rainy or dry season is a big challenge

He will soon give the account of his stewardship, it's either he fix this road or he should forget his 2027 re-election

David mark abandoned this same road for 16 years, his successor is following his footsteps

This is really heartbreaking, the deceased was a gentleman according to people that knew him, I don't know what came over that student

Students these days are so stubborn and disrespectful, you dare not look teacher in the eyes during our time

Night curfew has been declared by local authorities and soldiers are enforcing it because of the tension this incident has generated in the community.

A Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS-3) student has been arrested in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State for allegedly beating his teacher to death during a dispute over a seized school cap.

The incident occurred on Thursday at UBE Secondary School, Oju Centre.

The student, identified as 16-year-old Friday Ogamude, was said to have confronted his teacher, Mr. Oyibe Oyibe, 35, demanding the return of a cap confiscated in May 2025.

Eyewitnesses reported that the confrontation turned violent when the student allegedly attacked the teacher during a heated exchange. Mr. Oyibe reportedly collapsed on the spot.

He was rushed to Amara Hospital in Oju, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Oju for autopsy.

Police authorities have confirmed the arrest of the suspect and described the incident as “deeply troubling,” assuring the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that justice will be served.
