Israel’s defense minister said he told the military to advance plans for what he called a “humanitarian city” built on the ruins of Rafah in southern Gaza, according to reports in Israeli media.
In a briefing to reporters Monday, Israel Katz said the zone would initially house some 600,000 displaced Palestinians who have been forced to evacuate to the Al-Mawasi area along the coast of southern Gaza, multiple outlets who attended in the briefing reported. Palestinians who enter the zone will go through a screening to check that they are not members of Hamas.
They will not be allowed to leave, Katz said, according to Israeli media. Eventually, the defense minister said the entire population of Gaza – more than 2 million Palestinians – will be held in the zone. Katz then vowed that Israel would implement a plan, first floated by US President Donald Trump, to allow Palestinians to emigrate from Gaza to other countries.
Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have eagerly supported the emigration plan, despite no country publicly expressing any willingness to take part. At a White House dinner with Trump Monday, Netanyahu said, “We’re working with the United States very closely about finding countries that will seek to realize what they always said, that they want to give the Palestinians a better future, and I think we’re getting close to finding several countries.”
Katz said the zone for displaced Palestinians will be run by international bodies, not the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli media reported. The IDF would secure the zone from a distance, Katz said, in a plan that appears to imitate the aid distribution mechanism of the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). GHF operates the distribution sites, but the IDF surrounds them militarily.
We need another president in 2027, there's no place in our constitution that says a president or governor must do two terms, tinubu has done his best and his best is not good enough
Prophet Joshua Iginla, leader of the Champion Royal Assembly, has advised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, not to accept a secondary role in any emerging political alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a live church service on Sunday, July 6, Iginla said ongoing efforts to form a coalition of opposition parties must not come at the cost of Obi’s political standing. He warned that accepting a deputy role would weaken Obi’s influence and diminish the value of the political support he currently commands.
“The new coalition that we are doing — don’t go for a second-class citizen,” Iginla said. “If they give you number one, then you are prepared. If they give you a second-class citizen, don’t lose your political assets. Don’t fall into a trap.”
He urged Obi to remain cautious and to retain his position rather than make short-term compromises. “It is better that you wait patiently with your political capital and assets for a time that permits you to breathe properly than to sell your birthright to Jacob,” he added.
Iginla also spoke about Obi’s political future, saying it is part of his destiny to become Nigeria’s president. However, he noted that it is uncertain whether this would happen in 2027 or at a later date.
TEL AVIV, July 8 (Reuters) - An Israeli military official said on Tuesday that Iranian air strikes last month had hit some Israeli military sites, the first such apparent public acknowledgement that such locations had been struck.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity in accordance with military briefing rules, said that "very few" sites had been hit and that they remained functional.
The official declined to provide further details, including identifying which military locations were affected or how severe the damage was to military infrastructure.
Iran carried out waves of air strikes against Israel last month after Israel launched a surprise attack on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and missile arsenal.
The Iranian strikes frequently targeted densely populated cities Tel Aviv and Haifa, and the country's south around Beersheba, where there are a number of military facilities.
Several residential buildings were hit in the attacks, although the Israeli military says that most incoming missiles and drones launched by Iran were intercepted during the 12-day war.
Mrfixitt: I know whom you're. I can't take someone who claims to be a Christian serious when he's actually a Muslim..Keep hating on him, I can't help you
lol, why should I claim to be a Christian if I'm not? I am a truth teller
Being a Christian doesn't mean I must support evil people who are commiting atrocities, a Muslim should also not support evil

It seems his bromance with Putin is over, I remember how he accused Ukraine of starting this war and blamed zelensky for refusing to work towards peace and his supporters here praised him then
What happened to his promise to end this war within 24hrs? he thinks Vladimir Putin is someone he can order around
Donald trump invited zelensky to the white house where he embarrassed him before the whole world, he treated the president of a whole country with so much disdain and contempt and his followers applauded him for doing so
President Trump said Monday his administration will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine amid its war with Russia, days after pausing some weapons shipments.
"We're going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves," Mr. Trump told reporters during a White House event with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night.
The president said the shipments will consist of "defensive weapons, primarily," saying Ukraine is "getting hit very hard" and "so many people are dying in that mess."
At President Trump's direction, the Department of Defense is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine to ensure the Ukrainians can defend themselves while we work to secure a lasting peace and ensure the killing stops," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement later Monday night. "Our framework for POTUS to evaluate military shipments across the globe remains in effect and is integral to our America First defense priorities."
Asked Tuesday about Mr. Trump's announcement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Moscow that "these actions probably do not align with attempts to promote a peaceful resolution" to the war in Ukraine, according to Russia's state-run news agencies.
The United States has provided Ukraine with tens of billions of dollars in weapons and other assistance since February 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of the country, according to the Council on Foreign Relations think tank.
Last week, the White House confirmed it had decided to halt some shipments to Ukraine. A White House official said the pause was part of a broader review of weapons transfers to other countries. A U.S. official told CBS News the administration was concerned about military stockpiles falling too low.
In comments to reporters last week, Mr. Trump said his administration was still sending weapons to Ukraine, but former President Joe Biden "emptied out our whole country giving them weapons, and we have to make sure that we have enough for ourselves."
Mr. Trump spoke with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week. Mr. Trump told reporters he was "very disappointed" with the Putin call, saying he "didn't make any progress" with the Russian leader.
Mr. Trump also said Monday he's "not happy with President Putin at all."
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said his call with Mr. Trump was "very important and fruitful," adding the two leaders "agreed that we will work together to strengthen protection of our skies."
Mr. Trump has pressed Russia and Ukraine to strike a deal to end their three-year war.
But his relationship with both leaders has been rocky at times. Mr. Trump — who has expressed skepticism about Ukraine aid — accused Zelenskyy in April of prolonging the conflict, and the administration briefly paused military aid to Ukraine in March, after a televised Oval Office meeting-turned-argument between the American and Ukrainian leaders. Mr. Trump has also lashed out at Putin over Russian strikes on Ukraine.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the launch of the “America Party” on July 5, a day after asking his followers on X whether a new US political party should be created.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!” Musk declared on X.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
The announcement follows a public rift between Musk and US President Donald Trump over the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” — a sweeping tax-and-spending package signed into law on July 4.
By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!
When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.
Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.
The official website of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) experienced a major technical glitch following a surge in online traffic from Nigerians attempting to register as members of the newly formed opposition coalition party.
In a post shared on Friday, a user highlighted that the disruption stemmed from an overwhelming influx of Nigerians eager to align themselves with what is being described as a “rescue coalition.”
IntelRegion confirmed the incident, reporting that the site malfunctioned due to excessive user demand as people flocked online to sign up for the emerging political front.
The outage suggests the website infrastructure couldn’t handle the sudden spike in visits, likely due to inadequate server capacity.
As of the time this report was compiled, the party had yet to issue any official statement addressing the website crash.
This development came just two days after ADC was publicly unveiled as the flagship platform for Nigeria’s new opposition alliance — a movement intent on challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
I used to think that the convoy of American president is the largest & longest on earth until the recent visit of president tinubu of Nigeria to Makurdi the Benue state capital involving over 80 vehicles in a country ravaged by insecurity where people are struggling to eat and government keep borrowing money every now and then
Jordan has reportedly refused to play against Israel in the 2025 Under-19 Basketball World Cup. Following weeks of speculation, Jordan’s national basketball team informed FIBA, the international basketball federation, that it would not field a team. This decision resulted in an automatic 20-0 technical victory for Israel, despite Israel’s earlier win against Switzerland in their first game.
Amos Frishman, chairman of the Israel Basketball Association, expressed regret over Jordan’s choice, stating his belief that “sport is a bridge between peoples and cultures and not a political arena.”
NothingDoMe: So what you're saying is Hamas doesn't have fighters and the people fighting Israel all these years in Gaza are the women, children, and babies?
The ones that came out with masks on after the ceasefire were also women, children and babies?
I don't understand your logic, what you are trying to say is that israel is allowed to wipe out the entire population of over 2.5 million Palestinians in an attempt to get rid of a handful of Hamas fighters
NothingDoMe: Your picture didn't mention how many armed fighters (let's just call them that for now), were killed in Gaza.
Or was it the women, children and babies that attacked Israel on Oct 7th?
Initially the world listened. As time progressed, the world stopped listening because of too many lies embedded within the cry for help.
this is my problem with you people, the hypocrisy, wickedness and lies is sickening
Why is IDF not showing the dead Hamas fighters if they are truly killing them? It is only a heartless person that sees nothing wrong in what israel is doing
