Foreign Affairs › The World Remembers George Flyod Five Years After by God1000(op): 5:47pm On May 25, 2025 |
George Floyd was killed in an act of police violence that shocked the entire US and sparked a global uprising against racism and injustice.
His murder under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer became a painful symbol of systemic violence — and a call to action that could not be ignored.
Derek Chauvin was convicted, but true justice means dismantling the systems that made Floyd's death possible.
Religious services, concerts and vigils are set to mark Sunday’s fifth anniversary of George Floyd’s murder by a Minneapolis police officer.
The remembrances come at a fraught moment for activists, who had hoped the worldwide protests that followed Floyd's murder on May 25, 2020, would lead to permanent police reform across the U.S. and a continued focus on racial justice issues.

Foreign Affairs › UK, France, Canada Threaten Concrete Action If Israel Does Not Halt Fighting by God1000(op): 9:27pm On May 19, 2025 |
The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada issue a joint statement condemning Israel’s handling of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and calling on the Israeli government to immediately halt military action in the enclave and allow in aid, threatening “further concrete actions in response” if Israel refuses.
The three leaders call Israel’s announcement yesterday to allow a limited amount of aid into Gaza “wholly inadequate” and say the country’s failure to assist the Gazan civilian population “is unacceptable and risks breaching International Humanitarian Law.”
Israel must engage with the United Nations “to ensure a return to delivery of aid in line with humanitarian principles,” says the statement. Source: The Times of Israel.

Christianity Etc › Re: How Much Wealth Does The Catholic Church Have And Where Does It Come From? by God1000(op): 4:38pm On May 19, 2025 |
From my own findings, estimates of global Catholic Church assets range from hundreds of billions to potentially over a trillion dollars if everything is included. However, much of this wealth is tied up in institutions that serve religious, educational, and charitable purposes. |

Christianity Etc › How Much Wealth Does The Catholic Church Have And Where Does It Come From? by God1000(op): 4:36pm On May 19, 2025 |
There is a proverb that says the value of the Catholic Church's assets is one of the mysteries of faith – a secret the institution has guarded for centuries.
Getting an overall figure for the wealth of the Church, which represents the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, is a daunting task.
But it’s still possible to figure out the amount of wealth the Church has accumulated. #PopeLeo #CatholicChurch #BBCAfrica

Education › Grandma Brings 6 Live Birds To Sch As Fees After Her Grandkids Were Sent Home by God1000(op): 9:40am On May 15, 2025 |
In a heart-wrenching act of love and sacrifice, an elderly grandmother arrived at Adiedo Mixed Secondary School carrying six live chickens in a tattered basket. Her mission: to plead for her grandchildren return to school after they had been sent home for unpaid fees.
With trembling hands and a quiet dignity that moved all who witnessed it, the grandmother explained that she had no money—but these chickens, her most treasured possessions, were all she had left. Among them were her prized laying hens, her only source of daily sustenance. She offered them up without hesitation, believing that her grandchildren future was worth far more than eggs.
In a moment that left many in tears, one of the hens laid an egg right there in the school compound—a poignant symbol of hope, divine providence, and the depth of the grandmother’s sacrifice. It was as if heaven itself was bearing witness to her act of faith.
Her gesture not only settled a debt—it silenced the noise of hardship with the louder voice of love, reminding everyone present that true wealth lies not in one’s bank account, but in the heart willing to give everything for the sake of another’s tomorrow.
This powerful scene captured the raw essence of resilience, dignity, and the unwavering bond between generations—an emotional testament to the lengths families will go to ensure education, no matter the cost. https://www.facebook.com/100068376034740/posts/pfbid02iitjxmrCdPrbuGS5udfNse3SpkFzZAoC4FatnPE9wdXKoePvsAS8RcBZjvFpPwarl/?app=fbl
