Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, on Tuesday led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja.
The delegation included the House of Representatives member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. David Ogewu, and the Founder of G12 Foundation, Hon. Joseph Oche.
The visit was aimed at appreciating the Chief of Army Staff for his efforts and concern in addressing the growing insecurity in Benue State, particularly in the Benue South Senatorial District, where attacks and killings have become persistent and devastating.
During the meeting, Senator Moro and his team formally requested the deployment of more troops to vulnerable communities and the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in one of the high-risk areas within the senatorial district.
In his response, the Chief of Army Staff thanked the delegation for the thoughtful visit and described it as a morale boost that would further strengthen the Army’s resolve to bring lasting peace to the region.
He assured the delegation that their requests would be given due consideration, though he acknowledged the current operational limitations faced by the military.
Oju Local Government Area in Benue State is plunged into darkness as residents endure for over a month without electricity with no signs of restoration from NEPA. The prolonged blackout has sparked widespread frustration and concern among residents.
This is as a result of explosion from central transformer in the local government.
Botragelad: Due process for illegals? You have no business being in the country at first. Funny how you suddenly care about ‘rules’ when it benefits illegal immigrants, but ignore the fact they broke the law just by being here. ICE doesn’t ‘kidnap’ people, they arrest those who violated U.S. immigration laws, just like the police arrest anyone else who commits a crime.
You scream ‘brutality’ when deportations happen, but where’s that energy for the American families hurt by illegal immigration? Ever ask how many U.S. citizens have been killed by repeat offender illegal aliens (like the Laken Riley case)? Or how about the billions in tax dollars spent on healthcare, schools, and welfare for people who shouldn’t even be in the US?
I ask, if illegal immigration is so ‘harmless,’ why don’t you demand Mexico or China adopt the same open-border policy you and others push for America? 🙄
I've always known you to be a sadist, but you should know that treating immigrants in such dehumanizing way is against international law, all humans are to be treated with respect and dignity, moreover america has invaded so many countries, plundered their resources and caused a lot of instability, so why deporting people from these countries after all the exploitation
Botragelad: How is deporting illegal immigrants a bad policy? 🙄 Are you seriously so comfortable with lawbreaking that you think it’s fine to enter a country illegally?
If you don’t know what you’re talking about, maybe just stay quiet. You’re always in these threads trying to sound smart. Try to read and learn instead of pushing these ridiculous takes!🤫
we are talking about following the due process, you can't just kidnap people and deport them in chains to another country, stop supporting brutality & illegality
At least americans are protesting against the bad policies of Donald trump, in Nigeria we sit back and watch our leaders do whatever they like and defend them.
President Donald Trump ordered active-duty US Marines and 2,000 more National Guard troops into Los Angeles late on Monday, vowing those protesting immigration arrests would be "hit harder" than ever.
Trump's extraordinary mobilisation of 700 full-time professional military personnel - and thousands of National Guard troops - came on the fourth day of street protests triggered by dozens of immigration arrests in a city with huge foreign-born and Latino populations.
California Governor Gavin Newsom slammed the move, posting on X that US Marines "shouldn't be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President. This is un-American."
Suspected herdsmen on Monday evening launched fresh assaults in Agatu and Apa Local Government areas of Benue State, leaving several people dead.
DAILY POST gathered that in Agatu LGA, one Sunday Dutse, a native of Odejo and younger brother to a former chairman of the local government, was killed along the Odugbeho-Ogbaulu road.
Dutse was reportedly displaced from his community in an earlier herdsmen attack and had been taking refuge in Ogwule-Kaduna, also in Agatu LGA.
Earlier in the day, a separate attack occurred in EdikwG’Icho, a community in Apa LGA, where three youths were ambushed and killed.
Two of the victims were reportedly from EdikwG’Icho, while the third hailed from Ugbokpo.
These attacks came despite the recent visit by top military authorities, including the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who promised increased security measures in troubled parts of the state.
Thirty-four foreign embassies in Abuja face potential closure for failing to pay ground rent for over a decade, according to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had ordered enforcement against nearly 4,800 defaulting properties, but President Bola Tinubu granted a 14-day grace period, now expired.
Embassies from Ghana, Thailand, Russia, Turkey, Ireland, Germany, Venezuela, Zambia, Indonesia, and Equatorial Guinea top the defaulters' list. Others reportedly include missions from Egypt, Chad, Sierra Leone, India, Sudan, Niger, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, China, and South Africa. President Donald Trump warned on Saturday that there would be "serious consequences" for Elon Musk if he were to fund Democratic candidates. The president made the remark during a phone interview with NBC News.
"If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that," Trump told NBC News. However, according to the outlet, Trump did not detail what the consequences would be.
The president also told the outlet that he has no interest in repairing his relationship with the Tesla founder and CEO. When asked if he thought his relationship with Musk was over, Trump reportedly told NBC News, "I would assume so, yeah."
Trump also apparently has "no intention" of speaking with Musk — which is what he told Fox News Chief Political Anchor Bret Baier.
Trump and Musk have been engaged in a heated feud that has rapidly escalated in a matter of days. The spat began when Musk criticized the Trump-backed "Big Beautiful Bill" after his time with the administration ended.
"I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," Musk said in a Tuesday post on X. "Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
State Overseer of the conference, Alexander Nyoonkyegh, said on Saturday in Makurdi that Governor Hyacinth Alia was their brother in the vineyard and must be protected by true men of God. As fathers of faith, when you have a son and brother in the vineyard and they are doing well, you say, brother, keep it up. Recently we were here crying on the issue of insecurity, and there were reasons to support our cries.
So they are standing by him simply because he's their brother in the Lord, so much lies from them, they don't care about the daily wanton destruction of lives and property in Benue
b]The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Benue Chapter, has rejected calls by some of their colleagues for the declaration of a state of emergency rule in the state.[/b]
State Overseer of the conference, Alexander Nyoonkyegh, said on Saturday in Makurdi that Governor Hyacinth Alia was their brother in the vineyard and must be protected by true men of God.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some bishops had earlier called for an emergency rule in Benue over growing insecurity.
But Mr Nyoonkyegh said that Benue does not need emergency rule but a united front to confront the common enemy.
The archbishop said what the state needed at this crucial moment was unity and support for the governor to succeed.
“What we need now in Benue is unity and support for the governor to succeed. Let us help him to succeed because he is heading in the right direction.
“We cannot continue to talk about military takeover or emergency rule in Benue. We are not even sure that a Benue son will be appointed as the sole administrator.
“Look at what happened in Rivers. A sole administrator was appointed for Rivers who is from another state,” he said.
He also stated that even the Bible has admonished them to be submissive to authorities, adding that only God gives authority to people.
As fathers of faith, when you have a son and brother in the vineyard and they are doing well, you say, brother, keep it up. Recently we were here crying on the issue of insecurity, and there were reasons to support our cries.
“Fr Alia is our brother in the vineyard, and we will continue to pray for him to succeed. What we know is that there is no authority that is not given from God.
“And the Bible says we must be submissive to the authorities. Yes, we are prophets, but we are submissive to the authorities here on earth too.
What we need here is development, and the governor is developing the state, so what else can we ask for?
“Apart from issues of insecurity, which he is trying, and we are seeing some of his efforts, what fundamental offence has he committed?” he asked.
Mr Nyoonkyegh further commended President Bola Tinubu for continually standing with Benue people and currently directing the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to relocate to the state and address the growing insecurity.
“We cried with faith in God, and he is hearing our prayers, and we believe that this mystery that we have witnessed in the last few days since the arrival of the Chief of Army should continue.
“Since his arrival, we have not heard of any further attack on our people. Let the peace be maintained, he said.

There will also be restrictions on visitors from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
What better way to celebrate life than by giving life?
As I marked another year of God’s faithfulness, it was laid on my heart to give back in a way that will keep blessing lives long after the candles are out.
Today, I had the joy of commissioning a borehole water tap and welfare for a precious community. To see joy on their faces as clean water flowed freely; it reminded me that impact is the true measure of a life well lived.
This is not just water; it’s a flow of hope, health, and love. To God alone be all the glory!
Thank you to everyone who’s celebrating with me. Let’s keep making Jesus known: one act of love at a time.
Musk is now realizing that everything Trump touches dies, I don't pity him though
But what kind of human being is Donald trump, most of his allies From Mike pence, john bolton, Michael Cohen, Mark Esper and others have all turned against him.
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man has called for Donald Trump’s removal from office amid public spat with the United States President. The tension between the US President and Musk intensified on Thursday after the two world’s influential figures ‘locked horns’ on X(formerly Twitter).
Musk’s company-Tesla shares closed down over fourteen percent(14%), losing about $150billion in market value in what was described as the largest single-day decline in value in its history.
Trump became angry after Elon Musk heavily criticized his Tax Bill and, the tension escalated on social media resulting to the United States President threatening Musk’s businesses while the world’s richest man called for his immediate impeachment.
The message is clear, they don't care about the killings in Benue
This is what the people of Benue are getting from voting APC, imagine what the response from the federal government would be if this is happening in south west Nigeria.
