I remember people calling me western asslicker for opposing the invasion of Ukraine, the same people later labelled me a terrorist sympathizer for speaking out against the genocide in Gaza which has claimed over 45,000 lives, now they have turned around again to support this madman, calling me a Muslim and gay for opposing trump and his gang of criminals

It's always good to stand for the truth and what is right.

I want Russia-Ukraine war to end as soon as possible, Putin should withdraw his troops from Ukraine and Ukraine on the other hand should stay away from NATO
Foreign AffairsTrump Expresses Sympathy For Russia's Opposition To Ukraine's NATO Accession by God1000(op): 4:55pm On Jan 08, 2025
US President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday expressed sympathy for Russia's opposition to Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Addressing a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump also criticized outgoing Democratic President Joe Biden of allegedly altering the US stance on Ukraine's NATO membership.

"A big part of the problem was, Russia - for many, many years, long before Putin - said, 'You could never have NATO involved with Ukraine.' Now, they've said that. That's been, like, written in stone.

"And somewhere along the line Biden said, 'No. They should be able to join NATO.' Well, then Russia has somebody right on their doorstep, and I could understand their feelings about that," Trump said.

Russia has cited NATO's expansion towards its borders as a key reason to start its "special military operation” in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

In September 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a surprise bid for fast-track membership of the military alliance.

NATO members have supported Ukraine's eventual membership, but the country has never been extended an invitation.

Trump, who has questioned US aid to Ukraine, said on the campaign trail he could solve the war in Ukraine quickly.

Asked if he could resolve the war within six months, Trump responded: "I hope to have six months. No, I would think, I hope long before six months."

He added: "Russia is losing a lot of young people, and so is Ukraine, and it should have never been started."

Trump also expressed frustration over not being able to meet Putin before taking office on Jan. 20, calling such a meeting inappropriate without elaborating further.

"I know that Putin would like to meet," he said. "I don't think it's appropriate that I meet until after the 20th, which I hate, because, you know, every day many, many young people are being killed."

President-elect Donald Trump suggested Tuesday he would consider using military force to gain control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, and "economic force" to acquire Canada.

During a free-wheeling news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump was asked by a reporter if he could assure the public that he would not use military coercion against Panama or Greenland, a goal he has floated in recent weeks. “No, I can’t assure you on either of those two, but I can say this, we need them for economic security,” Trump said. He said later that he would not use military force against Canada, only "economic force."

“That would really be something,” Trump said of the United States' taking control of Canada.

“You get rid of that artificially drawn line, and you take a look at what that looks like. And it would also be much better for national security,” Trump said. “They’re great, but we’re spending hundreds of billions here to protect it.” Trump said that the subsidies include substantial military support and that the United States loses out through trade deficits.

It’s not immediately clear which funds Trump was referring to, but he has frequently complained about Canada and other NATO allies' not paying enough for defense spending. The United States and Canada also have a shared military alliance through North American Aerospace Defense Command.

Trump on Tuesday night posted an image on Truth Social of the two countries with the U.S. flag emblazoned across them, writing, “Oh Canada!”

He has quipped lately that it should become the 51st state and said Tuesday that he had joked with hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, a Canadian, about becoming “governor.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's 10-year term came to an abrupt end Monday in part because of party infighting over his handling of Trump and the promise of 25% tariffs that Trump has promised to enact.

Since winning the 2024 presidential election, Trump has touted a strategic interest for the United States in purchasing Greenland, an Arctic island that is part of Danish territory, reiterating his desire to acquire it last month. It's not a new idea for Trump: A gambit to purchase Greenland was mocked when it came up during his first term in office. His eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was on the ground Tuesday filming for a documentary accompanied by at least two incoming White House officials.

“Well, we need greater national security purposes. I’ve been told that for a long time, long before I even ran,” Trump told reporters. “You have approximately 45,000 people there. People really don’t even know that Denmark has any legal right to it, but if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security.” He threatened to levy tariffs on Denmark at "a very high level" if it thwarted efforts by the Arctic island to seek independence or to join the United States.

In a video posted to social media earlier in the day, Trump called into a lunch event on the island with Trump Jr.

Of Panama, Trump claimed that the United States is treated unfairly when it is "overcharged" higher rates for its ships to sail the canal than those of other countries, and that Panama is in “violation” of a deal with the United States. Trump claimed Panama has requested $3 billion from the United States help repair the canal, which slashes transport time between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, even as “China is basically taking it over.” He has threatened to try to take it back and said returning it to U.S. control is "vital" to national security.

While it is not clear what deal Trump was referring to, under the terms of a Carter administration treaty that transitioned control of the canal from the United States to Panama by 1999, the United States would hold the right to defend the canal from any change to its neutrality.

"We gave the Panama Canal to Panama. We didn’t give it to China," Trump said. "They’ve abused that gift."

The canal is administered by the Panama Canal Authority, although a Hong Kong-based contractor operates two ports connected to it.

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino denied in a video statement last month that China has influence over the canal and shot down the idea of the United States' taking back authority over it. "Every square meter of the canal belongs to Panama and will continue to be so," he said.

He also took aim at Mexico during his remarks and said he would seek to rename Gulf of Mexico to "the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring."

"What a beautiful name, and it’s appropriate," said before he criticized Mexico for not doing enough to curb migration. "Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country. They can stop them, and we’re going to put very serious tariffs on Mexico and Canada, because Canada, they come through Canada, too."

Trump has offered few details on how he might carry out his plans to grow the U.S. footprint, even as he promised throughout the press conference to return the United States to a “golden age” of improved national security and “common sense.”

“This will be the golden age of America,” Trump said.

Ghana was in a frenzy mood when President John Mahama was sworn in in Accra, the capital of the country, on Tuesday.

At the centre of attraction was 73-year-old newly sworn-in Vice-President Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Opoku-Agyemang made history as the first elected female VP in the country’s history.

The inauguration was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Senegal’s Bassirou Diomaye Faye; Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traore; Kenyan President William Ruto; President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon’s Brice Oligui Nguema and other dignitaries across all walks of life.

At the ceremony, Mahama, who served as president from 2012 to 2017, promised to “reset” Ghana, renegotiate parts of the IMF deal and introduce a “24-hour” economy to create jobs, a major concern for many younger voters.

However, in this report, PUNCH Online highlights the major things to know about the newly sworn-in Vice President who made history as the first female to hold the office.

1. Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang was born on November 22, 1951.

2. She attended Anglican Girls’ School at Koforidua and Aburi Presby Girls’ School. She then had her secondary education at the Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast from 1964 to 1971.

3. She completed B.Ed.(Hons) in English and French at the University of Cape Coast in 1977.

4. She earned a Diploma in Advanced Studies in French from the University of Dakar and obtained her master’s degree and Doctorate degrees from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1980 and 1986, respectively.

5. She served as the country’s Minister of Education from February 2013 to January 2017.

6. She is a full professor of Literature.

7. She served as the first female Vice-Chancellor of a state university in Ghana before taking over as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.

8. In March 2007, she was one of five scholars selected to deliver presentations during the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

9. In October 2009, she was elected Ghana’s representative to the executive board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

10. Ahead of the 2012 general elections, Jane Opoku Agyemang moderated the debate with Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

11. In the December 2020 Ghanaian presidential election, she was selected by John Mahama as his running mate on the NDC party ticket.

12. After she lost the election, she returned to the classroom and in August 2024, she resigned as the Vice-Chencellor of the Women’s University in Africa in Zimbabwe to join politics.

13. She was selected again as running mate to Mahama in 2024 and won, becoming the first female Vice President of Ghana.

Foreign AffairsMuhoozi Kainerugaba Wants To Behead Uganda Opposition Leader by God1000(op): 12:15pm On Jan 07, 2025
The head of Uganda's military, who is also the son of longstanding President Yoweri Museveni, said he wanted to behead the country's most prominent opposition leader.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba is widely believed to be the heir apparent to his father, who has governed Uganda since 1986. Kainerugaba routinely makes inflammatory posts on social media, including a threat in 2022 to invade neighboring Kenya.

Kainerugaba later apologized for that threat. He sometimes says that certain posts are meant ironically.

In a post on social media on Sunday evening, Kainerugaba said his father, whom he referred to by the honorific Mzee, was the only person protecting opposition leader Bobi Wine from him.

"If Mzee was not there, I would cut off his head today," Kainerugaba posted.

Bobi Wine, whose legal name is Robert Kyagulanyi and who finished second to Museveni in the 2021 presidential election, responded on X that he did not take the threat lightly, saying there had been several previous attempts on his life.

Kainerugaba responded: "Finally! I woke you up? Before I behead you, repay us the money we loaned you," suggesting the government had previously bought off Wine to undermine the opposition.

Spokespeople for the government and Kainerugaba were not immediately reachable for comment. A spokesperson for the armed forces declined to comment.

The government spokesperson has previously said Kainerugaba's social media posts should be understood as "casual" comments and not taken seriously or as reflecting government policy.

Wine, a popular musician turned politician has parlayed his star power into a career as Museveni's most formidable challenger. He rejected the results of the 2021 election, alleging ballot stuffing and intimidation.

Human rights activists have also accused Museveni's government of widespread human rights abuses, including torture and arbitrary detention.

Uganda's government has repeatedly denied allegations of election fraud and human rights abuses.
