PoliticsWhy Nigeria Is Dying by GodHatesBigots(op): 12:36am On Apr 27, 2021
When a nation finally reaches the point that its primary aim is to preserve the status quo, it is approaching old age. When it reaches the point where it is unwilling to sacrifice part of its status quo, it is going beyond being old, it is dying. That is the state Nigeria has reached now. The North has become the excess baggage that impedes movement to the Promised Land. The obstinate refusal to restructure Nigeria amounts to unwillingness to sacrifice part of the status quo and move the country from poverty to a prosperous society. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, eloquently declared that, the current arrangement is hindering the country from moving forward and that there is a need to adjust the current structure, both politically and economically to ensure maximum exploration and the use of resources with a view to encouraging healthy competition and create a

Nigeria where individuals can find fulfilment in life, even as they tread the narrow path of honesty, hard work and sincerity.”

The above comments, paraphrased, coming from a “true Omoluwabi” carry enough charm that ought to make the snails down North crawl out of their shells to race the hares down South who are getting impatient with underdevelopment. A Scandinavian proverb says, the apple does not fall far from the tree. The position of Aregbesola is the position of his roots – the Yoruba people. Show me a man with Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s “gravitas” and I will tell you it’s Aregbesola. For Nigeria now, it is either “Boom”- restructuring or “Bust” – dismemberment.

Folks I just saw this book while I was googling for other stuff online.

I cannot find the date it was written, but it seems to be a prophetic book for some of you.

It costs £2.00 on Amazon.

I will start reading it now - only 33 pages.
PoliticsOne Nigeria - Chinua Achebe’s Ghost speaks by GodHatesBigots(op):
Enough of this nonsense: Nigeria has been divided even before the amalgamation of 1914. On the week of the 1983 General elections during Shagari administration, the so-called “Nigerian Citizens” residing in the North had the herculean task of carrying their belongings; their heads, luggage, houses and projects to the south whence they came from and all the “abokis” vanished” one morning on the streets of the southern protectorate. This same thing happened weeks before the 2015 General Elections, owing to predictions from both the International community and some “doomsday Nigerian Prophets” that the country called “Nigeria” would become a pariah state soon after the elections. I cease to be blinded by trifle and parochial political gains and games. It’s high time we called a spade a spade and stop fooling ourselves.

Why should an exercise of public enfranchise and participation be a harbinger of havoc and perpetual fear? This is because everyone knows his shell and a lion has its den. Indeed, a Nigerian outside his zone is always in constant fear of the unknown. We are living in a society that is totally immiscible. The lack of “national integration”is a clear proof to this. There are clearly spelt divisions in all ramifications-a feeling of animus ranging from elite affairs of the cosmopolitans to individual conscious disparities. Talk to an average Hausa man he would say “this Igbo man…” and an Igbo man would scornfully “fireback” “aboki zho kanama!”. Among other things, Nigeria being a multi-lingual community has discriminatory language discrepancies, varying radical religious extremism, different philosophies, political ideology, perception and lifestyle. And these tensions are worsened by previous and prevalent ethnic bloodbath at every provocation.

Language defines and molds people. It enters the speaker as the speaker enters it. Nobody can tell an experience better than the victim. I have had a keen interest in the way a little issue sparks off argument between two individuals of “different tribes”. And no problem is a small problem. Before you know it, a mere greeting would transfigurate into a pathois of insult and an “army of civilians” would gather for an immediate attack, for or against. These are bitter souls. It’s genetic and generational and would endure till the end of times, till we tell ourselves the truth.

I wonder why a religion that preaches violence should be allowed to co-exist among a peaceful people. We are making a jest of our intelligence. It is evident that some religious bigots wish to implement the Jihad and force everyone into Islam. It might be argued by their leaders that it is unintended but we must not deny the fact that religious extremism is a serious threat to the people of this nation. There were many neglected cases of Christians slaughtered first hand just for passing by a mosque during prayers. These are mere “trouble-less” souls probably ignorant of the laws, after all they are of a “different religion”. The worst is that some of the doctrines of this religion are inhuman. How can someone’s limb be cut off just for looking at a beautiful creature of Allah? And unfortunately, offenders are often people of a different religion. And on the principles of “man know thy self” I suppose they are right to their reason and belief, perhaps. But I think it’s proper and right too for them to establish their rule in their Islamic state like they rightly clamor for, but it should be of a separate nation with a separate people who love and want these separate teachings. I think the best way to own a man is to convert him by love, not by force. Is it not?

As the mouth piece of the people,we are not comfortable with the way Nigeria is being run. A common man on the street and even a market woman wants Nigeria to divide. And they say the voice of the people is the voice of the gods.

PoliticsMy Dilemma - Why I Have Delayed My Full Support And Membership For IPOB by GodHatesBigots(op): 3:29pm On Apr 26, 2021
Folks I am deeply depressed. This weekend I spent most of my time on this forum and elsewhere debating and talking on matters relating to IPOB, ESN and the agitation for Biafra. And while I attended the IPOB fund raising event, I listened in but did not contribute a kobo. I am also not a member of IPOB but I sympathise with most of their concerns and really hope we can achieve them. I admire Nnamdi Kanu, in fact I love him - he is a warrior and he loves his people.

But there is a problem - I am in a dilemma. How can I contribute money to IPOB knowing that the money will go into the purchase of deadly arms that may kill my relatives in the army and police, or my friends in the army and police, or my old school mates in the army and police.

I won’t be able to sleep at night knowing that my contributions may have led to their untimely death. Conversely, I am gravely emotionally injured when I see the massacre of my people by Fulani herdsmen, the military, and police and sometimes I almost want to join the fight to destroy those who were guilty of genocide. It's hard for me and I almost weeping for my country and for my people. I don't want to see another innocent person in the force gunned down for doing their duty and I also do not want to see images of my fellow black people fleeing bandits in the North and herdsmen in the South.

No doubt something needs to be done, no doubt we are ruled by a terrorist government, no doubt we are not one nation and no doubt we need a final solution. However, I am unable to contribute money that may be attached to the shedding of blood of innocent people.

Note: If my money was purely for the destruction of Fulani herdsmen, including their terrorist supporters in the military or police, I would have emptied my bank account to IPOB, but not for the innocents or those doing their duty.

I need your advice and opinion.

Thanks, and God bless.

davonlee:
For about 1-2 months, I've been experiencing rectal discharge (a lump above my anus which brings out bloody mucur), constant weakness and pain in my abdominal area. Initially, I thought it was a disease called Hemorrhoids, because the symptoms are exactly the same, and I never imagined this could happen to me. Two nights ago, my stool was filled with dark red blood; so I had to quickly inform my parents. They advised I go for a full scale test. To cut the story short, I've been diagnosed with stage 1 colon cancer. I really need your prayers.
Where are you based ? With stage 1 conolon cancer you have an 85% survival rate if you treat it urgently. Don't worry, you will survive.

A family member had colon cancer , I think in a more advanced stage , but he is perfectly fine now and back to work. He is based in the UK.

11 soldiers You lied boy, do you know how many number of ipob terrorist gunned down? You think the soldiers only killed the terrorist commander. They only posting his picture because he is a ring leader and a big fish for the ipob terrorist organization. Nigeria army can kill 100 ipob terrorist without posting them if they don't popular among the team.
Credible news sources report that the army did not penetrate into the forest for fear of decimation. They attacked the commander and a few comrades in his house and despite the surprise attack, they lost over 13 soldiers.

No gallantry to see here.
