The government of Cross River State has alleged that people are being promised millions of naira should they claim to be COVID-19 positive. The state Commissioner of Health, Betta Edu, who made this claim, emphasised that it was not compulsory that every state in Nigeria must have a COVID-19 case. She spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, adding, that the alleged pressure on the state over COVID-19 matter should cease. “I want all of us to help Cross River State raise a voice in the right direction. It is not compulsory and I repeat it is not compulsory that every state in Nigeria should have a COVID-19 case. “We want this pressure to cease. Recently, people have come to meet with the (COVID-19) team to show us fake messages that have been sent to them, that if they can say they are COVID-19 positive, then, they would be given millions of naira. “It’s gradually getting out of hand, it’s getting personal. Everyday,” she said. The state Health Commissioner also lamented how they were being pressured and expected to conduct Coronavirus test in a community with 500,000 people with just 50 test kits. The claim by Edu came following a statement by the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, that the COVID-19 virus would get to every state in Nigeria. He also said the reason some state were yet to record positive COVID-19 case was because they were either negligent in testing and tracing, or actively hiding the disease within their territories. Cross River is currently the only state in the entire Southern Nigeria that is yet to record a case of COVID-19. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/cross-river-alleges-of-plans-in-the-state-to-bribe-people-to-claim-theyre-covid-19-positive/ |
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to reports that President Muhamadu Buhari appointed a ‘dead man’ from Ebonyi State as member of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). DAILY POST had reported that Chief Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru is one of the member-nominees (Ebonyi State) in Buhari’s letter to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan. The President in the letter to the Senate on Tuesday, requested for Okwuru’s confirmation as a board member of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). But on Wednesday, DAILY POST reported that the appointee died on February 27, 2020. Reacting, the APC Ebonyi State Chairman, Mr Eze Nwachukwu, in a press briefing, explained that Chief Tobias Okwuru was hale and hearty at the time he was nominated for the position by Mr President. According to him, the deceased passed on in February while waiting to be screened and confirmed. The chairman faulted the party in Ebonyi, for not informing the relevant authorities on the death. “Okwuru was nominated ‘a living man’ in January, healthy, hearty for the position and he updated and submitted all his necessary curriculum vitae by himself. “What happened is that in-between his nomination and letter conveying his nomination to the Senate, Okwuru painfully and sadly answered the ultimate call. “We accept responsibility and take the blame because as a party we are supposed to have written the national leadership of our party and the Presidency informing them on the demise of Chief Okwuru as a ranking party member. “But unfortunately, the family has not made the death official and has not commenced burial arrangements before the Coronavirus pandemic that led to lockdown, ban on burial and other social gatherings. “So, it is the responsibility of the party to put the record straight and that is why we are using this medium to correct the erroneous impression. “It is not the fault of Mr President and the Presidency that Okwuru’s name later appeared in the nominees’ list,” NAN quoted him as saying https://dailypost.ng/2020/04/30/apc-confirms-buhari-appointed-dead-person-gives-reason-for-mistake/

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, has questioned the whereabouts of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Majority of Nigerians believe that their leaders have been missing in action while other countries’ Presidents go about giving daily updates to their citizens on the novel Coronavirus pandemic. 73-year-old Donald Trump, his vice, Mike Pence, (60) and top members of the US government have headed the country’s task force on COVID-19, providing daily information to citizens and making scientific suggestions to their scientists. Here in Africa, Presidents of South Africa, Ghana, and other countries have been seen actively addressing and consoling their people in this traumatic period. Reno Omokri wonders where Nigerian leaders have been, describing them as the crisis “we face.” Ever since the dreaded disease made its way to Nigeria through an Italian on February 27, 2020, President Buhari has only address Nigerians twice in nationwide broadcasts many believed were recorded and aired via Nigeria Television Authority, NTA. “Where are General @MBuhari and Pastor @ProfOsinbajo?,” the former presidential aide asked in a tweet on Saturday night. “The more you look for them, the less you see of them. “It is as if Nigeria has a government in absentia. Leaders should be more visible in a crisis. In our own case, our leaders are the crisis we face!” https://edujandon.com/2020/04/covid-19-where-are-buhari-and-osinbajo-reno-omokri.html/ |
1. Philipp Lahm avoided fouls for over a year. The Bayern Munich and Germany legend was a master in reading the game and went 13 months without giving away a foul between September 2014 and October 2015 in the Bundesliga. Silly. 2. Jose Mourinho didn't win the Manager of the Month award in two of his three Premier League title wins. The Portuguese manager didn't pick up the coveted gong despite leading his side to victory. He has won the award three times in his career, twice in his debut, title-winning 2004/05 campaign and once in 2006/2007. 3. Neymar won the La Liga player of the month award before Lionel Messi did Interestingly the Brazilian beat his teammate to the gong after it was introduced in 2013. Neymar won it in 2013, with Messi winning it in January 2016 and going on to collect it a further six times. 4. Manchester United have NEVER lost a Premier League game at Old Trafford after leading at half-time If Manchester United are winning at half-time at home in the Premier League, there's next to no chance of them losing. 5. Theo Walcott has more Champions League goals than a plethora of legends The former Arsenal man has notched 15 times in Europe's premier competition, which is more than the likes of Ronaldo Nazario, Zinedine Zidane, Miroslav Klose, David Villa, Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard. 6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored in every minute The pair of footballing legends are the only two players in history to have scored a goal in every single minute (1-90) of a game. 7. Zlatan has played for six teams to have won the European Cup/Champions League but hasn't won it himself. Sticking with the Swede, Ibrahimovic has played for AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester United, Ajax and Malmo - all European Cup winners - but he has failed to win it himself and likely never will. 8. Spain won the World Cup scoring just eight goals There was a period where La Roja dominated international football and won the 2010 World Cup in South Africa under Vicente del Bosque. However, you might be surprised to learn they only scored eight goals on their way to victory. 9. Gary Lineker never received a yellow card in his career The England legend's perfect disciplinary record means he has had more shits on the pitch than he has had cards in his decorated career. 10. Steve Bruce once scored 19 goals from centre-back in a season The Newcastle boss captained Manchester United back in the day but was the club's top scorer in 1990/91, notching 13 goals in the league, 19 overall 11. Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale and Kevin Davies are the only three players to have scored, assisted and put through their own net in same game. It's not exactly a stat to shout about but all three men have completed the unwanted hat-trick in a game and are the only ones to do so. 12. Kingsley Coman has won the league in every year he's been a professional Three different clubs, seven consecutive league titles. The Frenchman won back-to-back titles with PSG after making his debut in the 2012/13 season, lifted the 2014/15 Scudetto with Juventus and then four Bundesliga titles on the trot with Bayern Munich. If football does resume, he will be good value to add another to the collection - with Bayern four points clear at the top 14. Jose Mourinho went nine years out without losing a home game He may have lost some of his magic in recent years but in his pomp, Mourinho went nine years and 150 games without tasting defeat on home soil. Incredibly, the Portuguese manager took charge of four different clubs in this period. 15. Real Madrid beat their own reserve side in the 1980 Copa Del Rey final Los Blancos have won the Copa Del Rey on 19 occasions but their 1980 triumph is infamous because their opponents in their final were Real Madrid Castilla, who they beat 6-1 at the Bernabeu.
