Menial labor in America, is slavery. You will be paying for your own food, clothing and shelter but never own land and property. This is how African Americans are still in poverty after generations.
Sensible Nigerians should look at the plight of African Americans and draw conclusions from them. 95% of Nigerian don't even know what is going on around them. They are completely blind, if financial success is your goal then anyone procuring a visa is the dumbest person on earth.

These niggas want to sell us tales by moonlights. Even earning $40k annual salary means you will live a basic life from paychecks to paychecks. Same as someone with a 80k salary in Nigeria. Earning under means you are living under the poverty line. Even middle class Americans who make $57,000 annually cant save a thousand dollar monthly. Bills and debt will choke you to death.

Stop converting it to naira. With the high cost of living there that amount is peanut. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria purchasing power. That's me being generous.

You are already giving excuses why abroad will not work so you must be part of the unwilling

In UK here, you can live on N0.7m monthly and there is no way you will not earn N1m monthly after tax just working minimum wage. That's living as a freshie off the boat. Once your leg done dey strong, you will see what pays more and gravitate towards that as most common-sense Nigerians do. Your spending will then increase substantially, as will your take-home pay. But you are focussing on the cost of bills, converting to Naira in your head and being intimidated by it, instead of focussing on the income that make such bills possible.

The girl who can't dance will say the band can't play
I know someone who makes $18.50/hr and up to $32,000 a year but still live on paycheck to paycheck even after working two to three jobs
and that's the reality of most Americans. Am talking about whites with privileges struggling and you think Nigerians will fare better there lol.

My retired old man that attained the top position in civil service with daily hardwork , what's the reward ? Getting his gratuity and pension denied ever since he retired ? Tell me something else Godx of our land.
Choking is choking. The average man in Nigeria is better than the average man living homeless in America. Quality of living isn’t the same as income, and one has to think about the cost of living as well as income. Americans make a lot, but having a house there is expensive. Just go through this Twitter thread of people paying 40k minimum a year. https://twitter.com/moneybagjo_/status/1533098669427367937?t=Chszq1pvoVTbRn8ENa6PbA&s=19

Going to the doctor can take you from upper middle class to the brink of homelessness and I haven't even mentioned student loans. The cost of living negates any so called advantage. Cost of living there will choke you to death.

These "perks" which I enjoy is called a loophole. One that can easily be closed and enjoyed by a few.

But at the same time, it's important to note that this is not attributable to only Nigeria.
American government and UK government gave out huge sums as COVID stimulus check and at the end, more than 20 billion dollars went Missing. Tell me how that was possible if not corrupt politicians exploiting loopholes.

What about rich people in those countries who hide their money using offshore accounts?

Corruption and loophole exploitation happens everywhere. You cannot use that as a basis to denigrate Nigeria. No system is perfect.
Everyone of us have benefited from a loophole in one way or the other. That doesn't mean we shouldn't hope for things to get better.

This whole abroad is utopia nonsense that these nigerians peddle is just a mirage. There are only 3 groups of nigerians enjoying abroad and anyone who does not fall within that group is suffering. thats just facts. and these 3 groups of people only constiture about 4 percent of the diaspora or even less than 4 percent meaning 96 percent are struggling. The 3 groups are

1- Nigerian children who live abroad and stay with their parents.

2-Medical doctors.

3-IT GURUS. and not just any run of the mill IT guy but i mean like an IT guy who can code in almost 10 languages both frontend and backend and can handle database administration etc

These are the only 3 groups of people enjoying the abroad . everybody else is struggling harder than the common man in Nigeria. The high cost of living there will kill you.

Bro I have heard life experiences from people who went and returned. A cousin of ours who have B S from an American university returned last December after completion of his education and gave us first hand account of how Nigerians, blacks are going through hard times there. When you are broke in America you will realize how easy you have it in Nigeria. If you go abroad you will see people that sold their inheritance to travel and they are stuck. If there are 100 people abroad , maybe 5 may be successful but the other 95 will be full of regrets. The high cost of living there negates any perceived positive.

Stop the cap lol. Do you know what you're even saying?

Have you ever seen an active Ambulance in Nigeria? Charges are even paid out of city's pockets in some states, and in some it's mostly dependent on the distance and type of services you received. Last I remember in Roanoke it was around $9/mile. And hospitals are like half a mile from each other.

Ever heard of insurance? No one pays that much to give birth man

20 years repaying loan? Lmaoo. Long as you studied a decent course, it doesn't take even half of that, and if even depends on how much you're earning to even start with. Are you going to talk about the numerous scholarship given to students you can barely see in Nigeria? Or the proper education they receive compared to the trash in Nigeria?

Look up what Quality of life actually means. And stop misinforming people. One more time, what can you boast of as an edge to other countries?
You are the one capping. I will drop various links for you to educate yourself.

Access to better Health care.......... Do you know how much for ambulance in America? Do you know how much to give birth In America? Just Google it and then come back to me. The prices will kill you.

Education.........Go and check how even after 20yrs after graduation many people are still paying of their students loan.

Quality of living.........This one na pure lie. People that are paying over 30k dollars minimum a year on rent. Baba rest

I want us to put things in perspective.
Nigeria has problems, YES! So too does every other country. You guys are making it seem like nigeria is a totally catastrophic hell hole. Until you look at Sudan, Congo, Ukraine, etc. Then you realize it an issue of how relative our problems are.

In America, gangsterism and gun culture has led to a culture of violence. More than 100 people die everyday in America due to gun violence from citizens owning guns to gang affiliated murders in ghettos. Should we talk of Spain and Italy plagued with immigration problems?
Well said.
