Some who talk about love or hatred for country seem not to realize that the country is the people. The country is not Buhari, APC or the Federal Government. So whenever you want to label an action in relation to the country you need to evaluate its goodness or badness for the people in general.

The brutality of the Police can never be labelled as good for the people. The drafting of armed military men to quell a peaceful and unarmed protest can never be good for the people. It is a violation of the law and the constitutional rights of the citizens to protest. It is the brutal action of the Government at the Toll Gate that is the direct cause of the looting and destruction witnessed in Lagos thereafter. The protesters have carried about their protest peacefully for several days without any destruction.

Without any ambiguity it is impossible for anyone to exonerate the Government in the Lekki Toll Gate disaster. All the people that were killed in the resulting EndSars riots in Lagos died as a result of the direct or consequent actions of the military at the Gate that night.

People who talk about love or hatred for the country here seem to equate country with the Federal or State Governments or Buhari and completely miss the point.

Address her questions and observations.
