The dude is trying hard to justify his high wages to his below par performance. VVD is the current best player in England...he was judged not by goals but because he is a brilliant defender.

Make he talk another thing...

Haba....I am for progress, but a lot has changed on Nairaland in a decade.

1. When I joined Nairaland a decade ago, there was no Like/Share button

2. There were no Mentions. If someone quotes you, you will never know, unless you return to the topic.

The idea of supermods also happened in the last decade, although it may not be a positive upgrade.

While I agree that Nairaland has declined, it has more to do with content than the site its self. And the content is dictated by those who post and comment here.
I thought like button has been there for more than a decade ( I was not here when it started so I won't say since inception).

About your last point, the front page takes very high percentage of the viewership. It used to be diverse and a little healthy but the mods for a while have focused on pushing mostly irrelevant entertainment nonews and snake thread into front-page. Even politics only get good coverage during election times.

People are here for different reasons... I only glance through FP before going to 'relevant' sections. I believe they are good contents hidden in those neglected sections. Also, better content creators will be motivated if their threads are given good attentions like those snake threads.

Many people don't see killing snake as news-worthy until it become a FP material.

With the traffic and activities going on here, corporate bodies should be queueing up here and not Linda ikeji & co. The potential is enormous. But no marketing & packaging, companies will be wary of putting huge marketing money on a site that looks so archaic.

This is best derailed thread I have seen in a while here (no better emoji huh)

Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and so son on received hundreds of millions of dollars in investment and for many years made massive losses until they started making profits.

If Seun was overseas and I'm sure the site would be more advanced than this

But again, let's be honest, must changes be made for the sake of changes? Craigslist is basically still the Craigslist of years ago. WhatsApp has barely changed too. At times, change is unnecessary. Majority of those on Nairaland are happy just the way it is. Had you not complained, I wouldn't have noticed.

If it ain't broken, don't fix

People are enticed to buy the newest Iphone model with only marginal changes.
You have a good point.

But this idea of it "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is detriment to progress. And we love using it a lot.

WhatsApp and others maintain the same template but are always introducing new updates & new function one at a time. It did not have call, video call, daily status and so on when it started.

For example, Click on a NL ad and it will take you away from NL. Those little details count.

Though the guy can work on his voice, same with most naija artists.

Samwell is a night's watch and trained.

He's a lucky dude tho.
He was in the night watch. But trained?...he couldn't even swing a sword well.

His strength is that he is intelligent and well-read (i believe he is the first to point out dragonglass could kill a nightwalker and used it)

They just don't want to kill this character (or just yet). It would be more reasonable seeing him running scared in the hall and digging up courage to kill some of them. But in it thick of the battle defending the castle is a sudden, unexplained remake of the character.

Forget the height, the dwarf surviving the onslaught of the withings would have been more believable. grin. Atleast he fought a battle before.

Breaking bad overrated? shocked......have you watched it? If you did, DID YOU FINISH IT?

I kinda feel the same about breaking bad too. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons or so, then it became tiring. Though i finished season 4. The ending was good but it is been long time coming. I have been planning on watching season 5 since forever.

Talking of tiring. who has completed season 3 of this is us?How was it? It was cool and emotional. Now it is all about 40 year old people trying to stir emotions from events of 20 years ago.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by golddeejay(m):
Though i enjoyed the episode, i can't help feeling some things are off. Tyrion's role (i mean, he is most people favorite), how did samwell survived those withings again?. And The Night king breaking just like that.

My best moment Lyanna killing a giant. I always look forward to that girl's mouth and expression (always straight as an arrow). Her charging at and killing a dead giant a scene after cleganne was shivering, was the best scene for me.

I don't think so. Akin Alabi has been grinding legit selling information products on free browsing, affilaite marketing & other how to make money stuffs, even on sport betting on success digest (I guess that is where he got the idea of nairabet) as far back as 2007.

Though his full page ads and sales page back then we're full of hypes and not quaranteed like he was claiming...

He also floated income and one sport paper that I don't think did that we'll.

He is not a yahoo boy in the sense scamming oyinbos.

Did my nsyc at Enugu(Abakpa Nike). The place is okay to enjoy life on low key. Food and transportation are cheap, cost of living generally. The ladies are mostly pretty and friendly. kiss

But to get accomodation there is a battle. The estate agents charge close to the rent as their fees. Plus they will request for "lawyer money" and expect you to buy crates/cartons of drinks like you are about to marry their daughter. Plus water issue, I heard it costs much more to dig a borehole there.

BusinessRe: I Want To Be Writing 10000 Words A Day As A Freelancer by golddeejay(m): 11:52pm On Apr 15, 2019
amerengues:
1) Get a topic and develop the points. Let's assume you want to write on 8 incredible ways to kill an ant.

2) Ask some few (2)friends to give you one or two ways of killing ant. You will have four points like that. If you got it verbally u can just build from that or you develop it yourself.

3) Ultimate guide: use Plr articles to quickly gather points. From that same topic, you can pick 3 points from there and rewrite.

4) Now you have average of 7 points then add your own two points.

5) find an established blog site in that niche and get at least 2 points. All in all you will have 11 points.

Rewrite most in your own way. Afterwards, test for plagiarism then you are good to go.

I wrote 31 articles under 15 days. Well maybe small, but I am proud of the quality cum long word count. (2000 word count)

Note I didn't use that method above to do that but it really works.

By the time you are done, rewrite in with the mindset of SEO. To give maximum quality target 6000 words per day provided you don't have other engagements.

I hope this helps.

Well, I didn't use this method like that but it works.
So gracious of you sharing your 'brain' and your time.

I also employ the strategy of creating an outline or skeleton of my topic and building them up. However perfectionism and short attention span limit my productivity.

6,000 words a day is huge...I 'll work on attaining half of that for now.
BusinessRe: I Want To Be Writing 10000 Words A Day As A Freelancer by golddeejay(m): 3:00am On Apr 15, 2019

Just like the advice above, get a team of qualified writers to be part of your team. I will like to state that starting with 10000 words a day is not as vital as the ability to continue without compromise to quality.

I would advise you not to even write 10000 if possible. Let one or two persons help you out. I am particularly stressing this because I know from experience that sometimes you get tired and because you have set a target word count for yourself, you tend to compromise quality a bit.

Let me summarize.
1) Get one or two dedicated writers
2) Never write from the scratch. Only newbies do that.
3) Don't forget SEO is vitally important

It will be nice to hear from you as you progress. Good luck.
Can you explain the bolded please?

Asin ehn, my bro. The thing tire me, foolish parents putting so much pressure on First borns.

That's how one Idiotic girl starting with "Saf**" in her name was arguing yesterday that Women in marriage is what make Men successful. Me that I know once you marry your life slows down by 85%. All the risk & opportunities you could take before is no longer available, you have to think of your Wife & children first.

Any man who doesn't get his finances right before marriage is forever doomed. He will die in Poverty I swear!
I hear those kind of statements a lot "Marry first and blessings will come", "give birth to children and they will bring good luck" bla bla bla.

Nigerians put themselves under a hell of pressure with superstitious and one dimensional thinking without any plan. This way of thinking is why many families are having very tough times.
FamilyRe: The Consequences Of Late Marriage And Why You Should Marry Early by golddeejay(m):
All in I see in this article is a lot of 'in the box' thinking. Living life according to some archaic standard will only live you frustrated. The Op come across as the kind of parent that will advise his kids to "Go to school, get good grades, get a good job, marry early and retire at so or so year and let your children provide for you in your old age". No pun intended, you sound educated but with "rigid & programmed" thinking.

We live in a world with choices. Someone can decide not to get married or adopt a child/children or marry to same sex(where it is legal), work from home and other stuffs that are not according to your archaic programmed thinking.

You throw a lot of statistics to back up your points...like 1/400 baby dies at childbirth and so on. Again living your life on statistics will cripple you with fear, frustrations and the rest.

We are all different with different ideas and struggles
Making choices and planning your live or family is not always "one size fits all" or following the crowd.

I am not the one that rubbish other people's opinions but this is an offpoint.
BTW, I am married.

FamilyRe: When He Says I Don't Owe You Happiness. Will You Still Remain In The Marriage? by golddeejay(m): 5:22am On Apr 06, 2019
That statement means the person is not committed to you.

Most people go into relationship or marriage thinking it is only for sex and bearing children.

Been in a relationship means you have to sacrifice or inconvenient yourself every now and then to make him/her happy.

So that's a very wrong thing for anyone in a relationship to say.

With that said, no one should depend on another for his/her happiness. You create you own happiness... anything from anyone should be 'added' happiness.
