Literature / Re: Which Book Are U Reading? by GoldPencil: 8:59pm On May 22, 2019
Bassey looked down at the spreadsheet and mused over the figures for a moment, as if he understood what he was looking at. He wasn’t quite sure what exactly what he was looking at, but from what he could gather from her words he knew that the outcome of the situation was not a good one. He choked a moment on his reply as he felt the grip of anxiety and fear parch his throat. A sudden attack of itchiness also crawled over his skin like a million tiny spiders, causing him to nearly jump out of his skin, as he almost bounded from his chair. Only to quickly sit down again, unsure of how to react to something like this. Why did he want this job again? He asked himself silently.
“So what do you think, sir? Do you think you can do something about this? What would be our best course of action?” Temi pelted him with her questions in an almost rapid-fire method that seemed to overwhelm him. He nervously rubbed his forehead and the stubble that he could feel peeking through the pores of his chin and jawline. Bassey tried to calm himself with the delightful smell of lavender that had begun to waft into his nostrils. He looked around for a second to see where it was coming from, then realized to his surprise that Miss Chikwelu’s hair must have been the source. This also surprisingly made him happy in this tense moment. With his renewed calm, at the expense of her great shampoo, he felt he could collect his faculties and solve the problem.
“You said you were from first floor, right?” Bassey began by asking. He felt like a man cautiously walking through a field of live land mines praying not to set one off.
“Yes, sir. I am a first-floor accounting analyst.” Temi confirmed, standing upright from her leaning position over him. Her face read that she felt she had been standing perhaps too close to him. But he didn’t mind at all. She was relatively attractive and he would have preferred a woman to be leaning over him, than one of those smelly overbearing oafs that he usually found presenting these sort of things to him.

Lol yes it won't prove that you're operating from Nigeria but atleast it'll prove ownership

I have some students in the US i help with their publishing. I could have easily logged into their accounts, taken screenshots, blurred them out and claimed that it was mine.

Anyways, lets agree to disagree.

With regards to sharing my screenshots, I really don't have to. The only reason I do it is to show that I practice what I preach and I make the bulk of my money from publishing (not mentorship or selling ebooks)

Some "gurus" who sell courses aren't that transparent and I'm sure we all know why.

Disagreement duly agreed smiley

I have no problems with how you make your bar. Truth be told, I'm actually envious of your success with purely non fiction.

More power to your elbow.

Bro your screenshots don't prove your point.

The whole point of uploading a screenshot is to prove that

1. You own the account and
2. You operate it from Nigeria and have consistently made sales from it

That will prove that your strategy is legitimate.

In your screenshot the name of the owner is hidden, unit sales made is hidden...for all we know it could be that you know someone who lives in the US/UK/Ireland etc. and you made a deal with them where they create an acx publishing account and then give you their details for you to publish your books using their details in exchange for splting the revenue or what not.

I've already pointed out the disadvantage of that strategy i.e. not everyone knows someone in the US/UK/Ireland willing to do that and even if they did know someone, you will be relying on the persons kindness and integrity to ensure that they continue to remit payment to you. If you were to fall out with them (i.e. say the person gets greedy and wants more money etc) you could be screwed. He/she may refuse to pay you anything.

What I'm proposing is a strategy that gives you 100% control. You don't rely on anyone but yourself. And you don't have to sleep at night worried that ACX might shut you down for non-compliance.

It happens...ACX has shut down some accounts for non-compliance and those people can't even receive payment or upload audiobooks again.

With regards to someone copying you (or me for that matter), it doesn't bother me too much. Every business has what I call trade secrets. You may see on the surface that someone is making lots of sales with their books, but what you don't see is the behind the scene strategies they are implementing to continue making consistent sales.

Take those that deal in auto spare parts business in Lagos. Any guy and his dog can enter that business, but without the intricate knowledge of the business, they won't succeed. Those that do must have mastered the process via apprenticeship or partnering with someone who understands the in and outs of that business.

A mentorship/apprentiship process reveals the trade secrets.

It's the same in publishing and i dare say any business. There's a reason why the majority of people who publish don't make a lot of money. It's not for lack of effort or trying.

So let the people who want to copy go ahead and copy

Loooool. This man. the level of reach. If you dont know how, the best way is to ask. I'm not sharing my account with anybody. You have seen today's date. We both got earnings reports today.

The length you are going to to... cheesy cheesy ... well make I keep quiet. i will add however that showing my name and sales will not prove that I'm running the account from nigeria, so when it's like that, I'd rather have anonymity. If you want, I can take picture (blurred of course) next to keke with my laptop, but that's stress. You are right. It is impossible smiley

I don't know what this is..I can't even tell the name of the account holder...its blurry...and whats with the yellow markes?

Below is a clear dashboard showing that I am the owner...you can also see a date stamp..whats there to hide?

Not interested in copycats or attacks. Clearer version with date below.

Thats' the persons problem? After they've spent their hard earned money and get shut out all you have to say is thats their problem? how refreshing.

Why don't YOU implement that strategy, create the audiobooks and post YOUR own earnings dashboard since you're so great at using your number 6? I dare you.

Let's see how long you'll last

Been on acx since 2016 bro.

With what address? what bank account? what tax id? ACX isn't stupid

Goodluck with that.

I'd love to see you spend money on Fiverr to create the "said" account. Spend tons of money creating audiobooks and uploading them then wake up one day and realise ACX has just SHUT YOU DOWN.

You mistake my drift. They are not making you an acx acct. They are making you an Amazon account. With UK IP and all. Then you just use that to make an acx acct from here.

That's the person's problem. His own is to deliver the gig and yours is to pay. So many people with multiple accounts not in use. They'd gladly sell you one they're not using. + payoneer accounts work fine.

Until you have arguements with the said friend and he/she refuses to remit payment to you...what a great idea indeed!

With regards to befriending a g-boy..i have no comment.

Nah. You ask him/her to create acct for you in exchange for payment, can even do this on fiverr. Then you change the password details once it's done. Only need number 6 to make money in this day and age.

Get a friend to open an Amazon UK account for you and you'll be publishing on acx in no time. As for removing witholding tax, Befriend a g boy and ask for.... wait, send me 15000 and I'll tell you. It's all about friendships. Rich people seek networks.
