PoliticsChina To Finance Nigeria's Abandoned Electricity Project by golfg(op): 9:19am On Dec 04, 2015
By JUMI RHODES

The Chinese President Xi Jinping has informed President Buhari of the willingness of his country to finance the whole project of the Mambilla Power Station through a special loan agreement. President Buhari had indicated to Xi Jinping at a bilateral meeting in New York that he wanted China to re-commence stalled rail projects under new terms that would see China providing nearly all the financing required. It was at this meeting Buhari also discussed ways of removing all obstacles in the way of the 3,050 MW Mambila Power Station. Mambilla Power Station, one of Africa's (and Nigeria's) biggest dam projects, is a projected hydro power plant which will be connected to three dams across the Donga River in Taraba State. Conceived in 1982, the main Mambilla Dam is a large rolled compact concrete dam and reservoir at 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) above sea level.

PoliticsEx-Sokoto Governor Attahiru Bafawara: "I Got No Money From Sambo Dasuki" by golfg(op): 7:33am On Dec 04, 2015
Former Sokoto State Governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, who has been quizzed by the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his alleged involvement in the diversion of $2.2 billion meant for arms purchase by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has denied receiving any money from the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki(retd.).

This disclosure was made in a statement in Abuja yesterday by one of Bafawara's aides, a former Special Adviser on Youths and Students Matters during his term as Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Akibu Dalhatu. According to the statement, "Bafarawa has no deal with the former NSA nor collected any money from him for any purpose. The truth is that Governor Bafarawa went to the EFCC to honour an invitation made to him by the agency while he was abroad. He had informed them through a letter by his lawyers that he was abroad and would honour their invitation on return. Governor Bafarawa went to the office of EFCC with his lawyer and an aide".

CultureOsun Kings Move To Boycott Ooni's Coronation As Oba Aromolaran Replaces Sijuwade by golfg(op): 7:12am On Dec 04, 2015
The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, who is the new chairman of Osun State Council of Obas, has said that traditional rulers in the state may boycott Monday’s coronation and presentation of staff of office ceremony of the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, if they do not receive formal invitation letter from the central planning committee of the event. Speaking to newsmen after its meeting in Osogbo yesterday, where he was adopted as the substantive chairman of the council, Oba Aromolaran said: “If we are invited with invitation cards or letters, we will go there after consulting with the governor. As at the time we concluded the meeting of Osun Council of Obas today (Thursday), we have not received any invitation from Ile-Ife about Monday’s coronation. We don’t go to where we have not been invited.

“Today, we held a meeting of Council of Obas in Osun. During our discussion, we deliberated on the chairmanship of the council. Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun moved the motion that since I have been acting as the chairman, I should continue in that capacity as the substantive chairman and other monarchs supported the motion. I have been acting as chairman of the council even when late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, was alive. I usually presided over the meetings in his palace because of his old age. Now that Osun Obas have unanimously adopted me as their substantive chairman, I would work for the growth of Osun State and also collaborate with Governor Rauf Aregbesola in moving the state forward socially and economically.” In a related development, the chairman, media and publicity of Ooni coronation planning committee, Hon Biyi Odunlade said the central planning committee has sent out invitation letters individually to all the monarchs in Osun State.

PoliticsAtiku Abubakar: "Why I Married More Than 1 Wife" by golfg(op): 8:17am On Dec 03, 2015
By JUMI RHODES

Nigeria's former vice-president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has revealed why he married more than 1 wife. He married Amina Titi Atiku Abubakar, Ladi Atiku Abubakar, Princess Rukaiya Atiku Abubakar, Fati Atiku Abubakar, and Jamila Atiku Abubakar. Atiku Abubakar's children{in no particular order} include Shehu, Mohammed, Ahmed, Adamu, Aminu, Halima, Fatima, Rukaiya, Walida, Mustapha, Jamila, Lamido, Asmau, Laila, Mustapha, Aisha, Zara, Faisal, Abdul Malik, Amina, Ama, Zainab, Abba, Hauwa, Atiku, Maryam.

It is worthy of note that Atiku Abubakar married at a young age and met his first wife Titi in Lagos when he worked at Idi Iroko, Ogun State as a customs officer in the late-1960s. In December 1971, Titi and Atiku married at the Ikoyi Registry when he was 25 years old. Atiku married other women after Titi.

In the book titled 'Atiku - The Story Of Atiku Abubakar', the ex-VP tells author Onukaba Ojo why he opted for polygamy as a young man. Atiku said he chose this path because he "wanted a large family to compensate for his lonely childhood as he had been born a lone child to a father who was himself a lone child and to a mother and two sisters who had no other child besides him".

In his words, “I wanted to expand the Abubakar family. I felt extremely lonely as a child. I had no brother and no sister. I did not want my children to be as lonely as I was. This is why I married more than one wife. My wives are my brothers, my sisters, my friends and my advisers and they complement one another”.

Politics"How I Use Tortoise As 'juju' For Robbery" - Suspected Gang Leader by golfg(op): 10:13am On Nov 09, 2015
Suspected leader of a notorious armed robbery gang, Nasim Aliu has said he acquired his power from a magical tortoise. Aliu made this revelation when he was recently paraded by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Kogi State police command. A native of Agheva Obehira in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi state, Aliu said having used the magical tortoise more than 12 times, he was surprised that he could be arrested easily.

Speaking to Daily Sun on how he uses this magical tortoise, Aliu said: “Yes, I am a leader of a robbery gang which robbed on major highways in Kogi and Edo States, we had operated for more than 12 times successfully without being caught and the success of these robberies was as a result of the protection of this tortoise. Anytime I wanted to go for robbery operation, I would consult the tortoise who will tell me whether the robbery would be successful or not. After saying some incantation to it, the tortoise would speak and tell me to go or not to go.

“In serious operation, I would hang the tortoise on my chest, covering it with my shirt and anytime I did that ,it helped to protect me from bullets. No enemy’s bullets can hit me any time I hang it on my chest.” While speaking to The Daily Sun reporter, Aliu touched the tortoise saying, “But you my great magical tortoise, you failed to tell me that the police were around the corner of my house, you failed to speak and you failed to give your usual signs.” He then looked up and said: “It is now that I believe this adage ‘every day for the thief, one day for the owner.”

Christianity EtcPastor Adeboye's Son Quits Social Media With A Shocking Message! by golfg(op): 8:17am On Nov 09, 2015
By JUMI RHODES

Few celebrity children have a 'powerful' social media presence quite like Pastor Enoch Adeboye's son Leke.

Just last week, for example, he re-posted a newspaper article headlined 'Gridlock: RCCG repairs Lagos-Ibadan Expressway'. Twenty-four hours after this publication, the Ogun State government released a press statement that Gov. Ibikunle Amosun's administration is responsible for the rehabilitation. In 48 hours, a Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) in Abeokuta was demolished by the Ogun State government for reportedly violating the residential master plan of the estate where it is located.

Though the Redeemed Church is yet to respond this, it seems Leke Adeboye has had enough of the social media where these reports have since gone viral!

What is interesting are the lines Leke Adeboye used in announcing the news of his social media vacation.

Yesterday, Leke Adeboye posted the message that reads:

"Social Media break........... have fun and keep allowing God teach you something. Before I go. ‪#‎WhatisGodteachingMe‬ : it is only those whom God loves that He won't allow to get away with any of their Sins. The punishment is immediate and intense here on earth. So if you have been doing wrong and getting away with it, God most likely leaving you for the devil and his hell. Think! Get Right ‪#‎TheFloodGatesOfHeaven"

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was on Wednesday in Ile-Ife, Osun state to pay homage to the Ooni-elect, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Wednesday night, Obasanjo said, "My coming today is coming on the heels of my tight programme. By 6.00am tomorrow, I will be in Morocco and by that time, the new Ooni would have gone into Ipebi. Since he has been accepted by the Obalufe and the Sooko, I thought it is important to pay homage before going to Ipebi and that is exactly what I have done today."

Advising the new monarch, Obasanjo added that, "It is obvious from the jubilation in Ife that he is a popular choice. My advice for him is to build on the edifice of the past Ooni, including Aderemi and Olubusi. I saw him as a young man, who has been very enthusiastic about contributing to the growth of his people. So I am equally expecting him to show greater enthusiasm for the development of his domain. He should ensure that he brings unity among the traditional rulers in Yorubaland and I want to wish him success in this journey."

PoliticsFULL PROFILE+FOTOS: 40-year-old Bizman Adeyeye Ogunwusi Emerges 51st Ooni Of Ife by golfg(op): 7:24am On Oct 26, 2015
Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi who hails from the Giesi ruling house has emerged the 51st Ooni of Ife following the demise of Oba Okunade Sijuwade. Let's tell you more about the new Ooni of Ife. About forty years ago in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, a prince was born into the Giesi Ruling House, Ojaja Royal Compound of Agbedegbede in Ile-Ife. He was named Adeyeye. Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi was quietly delivered into the humble family of Prince Ropo and Late Mrs Margaret Wuraola Ogunwusi (Ile Opa family compound, Ile Ife). His father was a radio and television anchor and presentation star that spanned the entire mid-1980s to early 21st century in the South-western part of Nigeria. Though born quietly, Prince Ogunwusi’s excellence and outstanding acumen would soon start to announce itself for the world to behold.

An astute entrepreneur, driven by turning ‘impossibilities to possibilities’, Adeyeye’s power of imagination has set him aside, revolutionizing his approach to creativity and innovation. A distinct achiever, with the conscience of youthful excellence, his ambition is exceptional with savvy business ideas, making a mark in his immediate society and beyond. He has been involved in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) locally and abroad for over 12 years and he is also actively involved in the development of over 2,500 housing units with various consortia of developers/promoters over the last 8 years in Nigeria. He facilitated strong trade relationship through Association for International Business (AIB) with presence in over 200 member countries across the globe which he set up in Nigeria.

One of the key achievements of this body is the trade facilitation between the United Arab Emirates (Jebel Ali free Trade Zone development) and Federal Government of Nigeria through Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).He was a co-organizer for Ondo State Economic Planning and Implementation Committee. He led the Government delegation team to Canada in 2002 for strategic alliances and partnership with Ondo State Government on solid mineral potentials of the State (Bitumen, Dimension Stones, Granite, etc.) which led to the formation of Amalgamated Mining and Exploration Company Limited – wholly owned by Ondo State Government. He was involved in the facilitation and development of Sparkwest Steel Galvanizing Plant (the only Steel Galvanizing Plant in Nigeria), National Iron Ore Mining Company Limited and Jakura Mines resuscitation projects, which has eventually become the major limestone feed stock to Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi State, Nigeria.

Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi was involved with trading and marketing of commodities, the main facilitator for Dangote Group’s break into the ‘up-country supply chain consortium’ between 1996 and 1999. He also traded for Dohagro Allied, Global Apex, Olam, Clemco, Stallion Group, Milan Group etc, at about the same period. This is where he gained expertise in marketing prowess which up till date is one of his major strengths. He also facilitated the biggest Lead and Aluminum recycling plant set up in Nigeria by National Steel Company of India in Ota, Ogun State. He began his strides in the Real Estate sector with various dredging and land reclamation projects in Lagos State.

Adeyeye is the initiator of EssentialHomes, a real estate product launched in January 2014 formed to deliver affordable upscale homes to the middle and low income earners. The 1st phase of the product (The Southpointe Estate, Lafiaji Road, Lekki, Lagos State) started in February 2014, and has been successfully delivered within 1 year with about 60% occupancy recorded. This attests to the huge market demand and acceptability of the EssentialHomes product. He also led the team that developed the beautiful Northpoint Estate Phase I,II,III and Midland Court , on Chevron Drive Lekki Lagos. In addition, Prince Adeyeye has successfully undertaken more multi-billion Naira projects across Lagos and environs; Jacob Mews Estate Yaba, Lakeview Park I and II Estates Lekki, the ongoing Golden Leaf Estate Lafiaji, Lekki and Grand Lake Estate Ajah, Lagos.

Adeyeye also has clear track record of community development starting with his home town; 4yrs ago during the occasion of his Mum’s funeral, the community was without any form of electricity. Adeyeye went ahead to install transformers and light poles, generated electricity which till today, the community still boasts of. This electrification project is also being extended to other parts of the town. Part of his community development strides has also extended to the Lafiaji community, off Orchid Hotel road, Lekki-Epe expressway, Lagos, with the opening up and reconstruction of a 6.5km road, with a 1.1km green extension without Government intervention.

He also embarked on the electrification of this whole stretch which is being powered by his company, Gran Imperio Group. In just 1 year, to actualize his dream of the development of one of the best resorts in Nigeria, he led a team that opened up a remote jungle, Inagbe Island, Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos, into a whole new community offering spectacular world class relaxation and recreational facilities. The multi-billion Naira Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure, Lagos Nigeria is a first of its kind in the whole of West Africa bounded by the Lagoon and Atlantic Ocean. With this feat, he is set to increase the country’s GDP through tourism and reduce unemployment by providing direct and indirect employment.

Earlier this year, Prince Adeyeye also intimated the youth of Ile-Ife of his plan to replicate this remarkable project in Ile-Ife, having already acquired good land mass for the project. Interestingly, he has an incredible master plan to rebrand Ife and take it to greater heights. On the 7th of March 2015, Adeyeye was a recipient of the prestigious NIDSA (National Ife Descendants Students’ Association) GOLD AWARD for 2015 on the occasion of their Ife Day celebration.

Prince Adeyeye enjoys being in the midst of his workers, celebrates and dances with them, dines with them, crack jokes and of course gets on the work grind with them. He is a grass root fellow to the core and lover of the youth. His humility is second to none. Being a philanthropist, Adeyeye has sponsored less privileged children and youth in Ile-Ife and Lagos where he lives. Some youth are still beneficiaries of Adeyeye’s scholarship platform till date. Adeyeye is presently an employer of over 300 indigenous youth at the Inagbe Cocowood Factory – EssentialHomes Furniture brand, first of its kind in Nigeria using 100% indigenous raw materials for production. PoliticsSoyinka To Obasanjo: You Are An Overgrown Child Of Circumstance by golfg(op): 7:05am On Oct 26, 2015
For many years there has been no lost love between former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka. In his new book titled 'Interventions: Between Defective Memory and the Public Lie – A Personal Odyssey in the Republic of Liars' presented in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday, Soyinka criticised Obasanjo and described the former president as an overgrown child of circumstance.

Soyinka while speaking said he owed it a responsibility to fundamentally respond to lies that Obasanjo allegedly told against him in his latest biography, titled, My Watch, described in Interventions as Three-Carat Watch. Soyinka, in the book also critically took on the likes of former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and veteran critic, Prof. Chinweizu, wrote, quoting a Yoruba proverb, “The child that swears his mother will not sleep must also prepare for a prolonged, sleepless infancy. So, let it be with Okikiola, the overgrown child of circumstance.

"I brainstormed with him over meals both when he was military Head of State – in Dodan Barracks and in his home, Ota – for some time after he left office and early in Aso Rock at his ‘second coming.’ Today, it is a different situation. If he offered to host me, I would wait until he had first swallowed a morsel from the same dish.

“I had fully attuned myself to the fact that our Owu retiree soldier and prolific author is an infliction that those of us who share the same era and nation space must learn to endure. However, it does appear to me that there is no end to this individual’s capacity for infantile mischief, and for needless, mind-boggling provocations, such as his recent ‘literary’ intrusion on my peace."

The Nobel Laureate questioned the godliness to which Obasanjo professed: “Our author invokes God tirelessly, without provocation, without necessity and without justification, perhaps preemptively, but does he really believe in such an entity? Does our home-bred Double-O-Seven believe in anything outside his own Omnipotence?

"Could he possibly have mistaken the Christian exhortation – ‘Watch and Pray’ – for his own private inclination to ‘Watch and Prey? This is a seasoned predator on others’ achievements. He preys on their names, their characters, their motivations, their true lives; preys on gossip and preys on contributions to collective undertakings – even preys on their identities, substituting his own where possible.”

PoliticsChris Okotie, Ayo Oritsejafor Trade Words Over Goodluck Jonathan by golfg(op): 6:41am On Oct 26, 2015
Rev. Chris Okotie, the General Overseer of Household of God Church, has said the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor’s “false” prophecy to Goodluck Jonathan made the former President contest the 2015 presidential election. According to Okotie, Jonathan had resolved not to contest but claims that Oritsejafor “deceived” him(Jonathan) with tales of victory as prophesied unto him by God.

Okotie said this while delivering a sermon in his church on Sunday in Lagos. In his words, Okotie said, “Pastor Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with a false prophecy from God that he (Jonathan) would win the election convincingly. The man (Jonathan) became convinced to contest after Oritsejafor had told him, using CAN’s name, that God had ordained him the winner of the 2015 presidential election.”

On some members of CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Okotie stated that, “They couldn’t speak out because they were scared of being insulted. They were scared of being insulted for saying rubbish. They were scared of being insulted on the pages of newspapers. So, while I continued to write and speak that Jonathan was not the man, those of them who knew the truth in what I was saying chose to keep quiet out of fear.

"I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan was not of God; that whosoever would win would be one that had built a tabernacle in the presence of God. I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan did not belong to the House of David and that since he did not belong to the household, his winning would bring more sorrow to Nigeria.”

Reacting to Okotie's sermon on behalf of Oritsejafor, the Director of National Issues in CAN, Mr. Sunny Oibe, in an interview, said, “Well, it is laughable if Chris Okotie is making this spurious allegation…We will not like to take issues with Okotie…because doing that will amount to making him popular. He is looking for popularity which he doesn’t have through Pastor Ayo and he is not going to get it.

“Okotie knows exactly that what he is saying is not true. Nigerians should know that Pastor Oritsejafor is not among those pastors that make prophecies. He does not make prophecy and never said anything during the campaigns. Why would he bring politics into the pulpit? This is where we Christians are getting it wrong. They are the ones misleading Nigerians. Oritsejafor never made any prophecy concerning Jonathan and the 2015 presidential election. I challenged any Nigerian with evidence to come forward.”

Christianity EtcChris Oyakhilome’s Estranged Wife Anita Writes Again! by golfg(op): 6:58am On Oct 23, 2015
Pastor Anita Ebhodaghe, the estranged wife of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, co-founder of Believers’ LoveWorld Incorporated(aka Christ Embassy) has once again opened up on how she is getting by with her divorce. In a new blog post titled Colourful Life, Anita starts off with a quote by Israelmore Ayivor – “Encourage yourself that you are good enough to be the owner of your own storehouse. Colour your world; redesign your mental pictures about yourself! Dream big and manifest the dreams!”

In her words, Anita states that,” The older you get, the more the pages and chapters of your life increase. When you study the lives of successful people, you will find that most of them have personal stories of humble beginnings – where they struggled with being broke, sacked from work or faced difficulties in one way or the other.

“However, one day something happened that revolutionised their circumstances; possibly they encountered someone who offered them a helping hand through some financial opportunities or support. It does not necessarily have to be a big event. It could be an admission to an educational institution or their acceptance by an organisation, which had previously rejected them or they revisited and succeeded at an old idea despite all odds and personal discouragement.

“Whatever it was, they decided not to allow their circumstances control or stop them from moving forward. Instead, through persistence and perseverance, they kicked their dreams into action. When disappointments happen, we can decide to isolate ourselves and close all doors, leaving little hope for the rebuilding of our broken dreams. The thought of starting again may seem devastating and absolutely painful. When something bad happens, realise that it is not the end; sometimes it can be the best thing that ever happen to you.

“Make up your mind that suicide is not a choice! Some have gone through worse things and have recovered from it. Some people even wear their stories on their bodies – like the man with the scar that continues to tell of the fateful night someone broke a bottle over his head during a late night argument. These days, facial make-up can conceal unsightly scars and enhance your skin.

“In the same way, coloured pencils can add a touch of beauty to your notepad as you put your thoughts on paper. So if you find it too difficult to recollect any good memories from your past, do something nice – just add colour to the pages of your life by believing the best for your future. My life goes on and I have decided to colour mine as I move on.”

She ends the post with Reggie Joiner’s quote — “Orange is one of God’s favorite colors— He stuck it right there between red and yellow as the second color in the rainbow. He decorates entire forests with shades of orange every autumn. It shows up in sunrises at the start of the day, sunsets at the end of the day, and in the glow of the moon at the right time of night.”

Politics"I Have Never Collected Bribe In My Life" - Rotimi Amaechi by golfg(op): 1:33pm On Oct 22, 2015
By KIKELOMO IWAJOMO

The immediate past governor of Rivers State Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has just been screened by the Senate following his nomination as minister. Shortly after the Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki acknowledged receipt of his curriculum vitae, Amaechi was told to highlight his achievements as a former speaker and ex-governor. This led to the question-and-answer session when Amaechi answered questions from the senators.

Earlier the senate minority leader Senator Godswill Akpabio said the PDP senators had resolved not to ask Amaechi questions bordering on the screening, disclosing they have petitions against the nominee. The Senate Leader, Senate Ali Ndume however opposed the stance of Akpabio and the opposition, saying as a former Speaker and Governor, Amaechi could as well simply bow and go.

On his role as a former chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum(NGF), Amaechi said,"'We refined governance and repositioned leadership under my tenure as Governor. All we did in the Governors Forum was to defend the rights of Nigerians.I find it difficult to do what people want me to do, if it clashes with my principles.Nigerian politicians believe there is need for compromise but not when it clashes with my principles."

On development in key sectors, Amaechi added that: "I believe there are resources in the Niger-Delta, that is why there is Militancy. If I become the Minister for Niger Delta, the East - West Road will be first to be completed. If you invest in Agriculture & invest in Technology, you will hire as many workers as you can get. In Rivers State we established two farms. We must improve on the Social Rights of the people; if you have peace you'll have investors. Why people don't invest in Nigeria is because the cost of investment is higher than the profit' We must also invest in Education; Some of our youths are unemployable".

On corruption, he further said: "I have never collected bribe in my life.If they send a girl to you to do something for her and you sleep with the girl, you are corrupt.Corruption is difficult to define. If we keep to the rule of law, allow a Governor to function as a Governor, that will be it."
