By Michael Ovat The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has replied to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, for saying that Anambra State has remained politically dislocated from the centre by remaining in the APGA. The National Publicity Secretary of the APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, who reacted to the comment by Ganduje, said Anambra, even though it is a minority party, has remained better than most states that claim to have connected to the centre. The Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that Ganduje while making his remark during a South East APC colloquium held in Nnewi and organised by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, stated that Anambra has been politically dislocated from the South East by remaining in APGA. But in a reply, Ejimofor blasted Ganduje, saying that his activities in Kano as governor were some of the reasons the state chose a governor from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Ejimofor said: “First, I wonder the level of progress Kano State made under Ganduje’s APC that resulted in a revolutionary and historic rejection of the party by the people in 2023 as the people opted instead to vote for the NNPP and were ready to stake their lives to defend their votes. “Ganduje should understand that the Southeast and Ndi Anambra in particular are more interested in why Kano State, after him, decided to disconnect from the APC-controlled centre. "Well, the APC is nonexistent in Anambra; I am sure Ganduje himself knows this for a fact. Again, the continued existence of APGA in Anambra is performance-based. “Anambra, and indeed, the Southeast, is APGA land. There is no doubt about this, and even where the region decides to negotiate a handshake with the Centre, the APC has proven not to be such a viable alternative. I sincerely hope that Mr Ganduje will seek to really see that which is not hidden rather than opting for deliberate ignorance. "From Peter Obi to Willie Obiano and now Professor Soludo, Anambra has remained on a trajectory of progressive growth, and it is for this reason that even a political neophyte would state without double checking that Ganduje was either speaking to impress his host or he is sincerely ignorant of the facts. “Anambra under APGA has remained a state of many firsts, and in recent times, the state under the Soludo government has won many awards. "Recall that Anambra has won the award as the state with the best deployed ICT, and Anambra State ICT Agency under Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata won that award. Anambra has also been named as the state with the lowest out-of-school child record. “If all these awards are what it takes to be disconnected from the centre, then Anambra will gladly remain disconnected.” Opara added that it is appalling that a political party that proposed a colloquium turned it into a political rally and ended up conducting a primary election, where the host senator, Ifeanyi Ubah, was unashamedly declared the candidate of the party in the next election. https://tribuneonlineng.com/apc-is-rejected-in-anambra-apga-replies-ganduje/

By Godwin Isenyo Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command on Saturday apprehended a suspected notorious kidnappers’ gang leader, Saidu Yakubu, also known as “Ismail.” The gang was said to be behind the September 7, 2023 attack at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Fadan Kamanta, Kafanchan Diocese, in Jema’ah Local Government Area of Kaduna State, razing the parish house together with a seminarian, Na’aman Danladi, to death. The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement, on Saturday said the arrest was made in collaboration with the military personnel. Hassan said the suspect has confessed to his involvement in the crime. He said, “In a commendable display of swift action and dedication to public safety, the Kaduna State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner, Ali Dabigi, has successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapper, Yakubu Saidu, also known as Ismail ‘M’ who was involved in banditry, culpable homicide and mischief by fire. "On September 7, 2023, at approximately 2030hrs, the Officer in Charge of Fadan Kamanta, Zonkwa, alerted authorities of a distressing situation at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Kamantan, where suspected kidnappers had launched an attack. Despite the urgency of the situation, police operatives, in collaboration with military personnel, swiftly mobilised to the scene. Regrettably, the suspects had already set ablaze the priest’s residence before the arrival of the security personnel. Despite the valiant efforts, one seminarian, Stephen Naaman, tragically lost his life in the inferno and property worth millions of naira, including a Honda vehicle and a motorcycle, were consumed by the fire. “Due to diligence and the tireless pursuit of the issue by the police, on March 22, 2024, one Yakubu Saidu, the alleged mastermind and leader of the notorious kidnapping gang, was apprehended and he confessed to his involvement in the heinous crime.” He stated that the state Commissioner of Police commended the police operatives for the swift and effective response to the distress call. “Their dedication and bravery are a testament to their commitment to protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Kaduna State.” The police spokesman also reassured the public of the command’s unwavering resolve to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents in the state. https://punchng.com/kaduna-police-arrest-kidnappers-gang-leader-linked-to-catholic-church-attack/

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has vowed that all perpetrators of the deadly attack at Crocus City Hall in northern Krasnogorsk, Moscow, where more than 100 people were killed on Friday evening will be punished. Putin said this during his address to Russians on the concert hall attack where about 140 people were critically injured. While Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the assault, the Russian leader said the attackers were captured trying to cross the border to Ukraine. “I am addressing to you in connection with the bloody, barbaric terrorist act, the victims of which were dozens of peaceful, innocent people – our compatriots, including children, teenagers, and women,” he said. Putin who just won the recent presidential election to spend another six years of a tenure in office lauded the medical practitioners, special forces and citizens for helping at this time. He stated, “Doctors are now fighting for the lives of the victims, those who are in serious condition. I am sure they will do everything possible and even impossible to save the lives and health of all the wounded. Special thanks to the ambulance and air ambulance crews, special forces soldiers, firefighters, rescuers who did everything to save people’s lives, get them out from under fire, from the epicenter of fire and smoke, and avoid even greater losses. “I cannot ignore the help of ordinary citizens, who in the first minutes after the tragedy did not remain indifferent and, along with doctors and special services, provided first aid and took the victims to hospitals… "I express my deep, sincere condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. The whole country and our entire people are grieving with you. I declare March 24 a day of national mourning.” Putin also said the Kremlin is working out measures to prevent further attacks after confirming that the capital and its environs. “Additional anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage measures have been introduced in Moscow and the Moscow region, in all regions of the country. The main thing now is to prevent those who are behind this bloodbath from committing a new crime,'” Putin said. "As for the investigation of this crime and the results of operational investigative actions, the following can currently be said. “All four direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack, all those who shot and killed people, were found and detained. They tried to hide and moved towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them from the Ukrainian side to cross the state border. A total of 11 people were detained. "The Federal Security Service of Russia and other law enforcement agencies are working to identify and uncover the entire terrorist support base: those who provided them with transport, planned escape routes from the crime scene, prepared caches, caches of weapons and ammunition… “It is already obvious that we are faced not just with a carefully and cynically planned terrorist attack, but with the organised mass murder of peaceful defenceless people. The criminals were cold-blooded and purposefully going to kill, shoot our citizens at point-blank range – our children. "Like the Nazis who once carried out massacres in the occupied territories, they planned to arrange a demonstrative execution, a bloody act of intimidation. All the perpetrators, organisers and those who ordered this crime will be justly and inevitably punished. “Whoever they are, whoever is guiding them. I repeat, we will identify and punish everyone who stands behind the terrorists, who prepared this atrocity, this strike against Russia, against our people. "We know what the threat of terrorism is. Here we count on cooperation with all states that sincerely share our pain and are ready to really join forces in the fight against a common enemy – international terrorism – in all its manifestations. Terrorists, murderers… who do not and cannot have a nationality, face one unenviable fate – retribution and oblivion. They have no future. "Our common duty now, our comrades–in-arms at the front, all citizens of the country, is to be together in one formation. I believe it will be so, because no one and nothing can shake our unity and will, our determination and courage, the strength of the united people of Russia. “No one will be able to sow the poisonous seeds of discord, panic and discord in our multinational society. Russia has been through the hardest, sometimes unbearable trials more than once, but it has become even stronger. So it will be now.” https://dailytrust.com/terror-attack-putin-fingers-ukraine-vows-punishment/

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has called on President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, to prevail on the former President of the union, Najeem Usman Yasin, to vacate the union's National Secretariat in line with the order of the court to avoid a breakdown of law and order. The President of the union, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, stated this on Thursday in Abuja at a press conference addressed by his lawyer, Tolu Babaleye on the judgment of the National Industrial Court delivered on March 11,2024 by Justice O.O Oyewumi which affirmed Baruwa as the validly elected President of the union for a second term. He described the statement made by Najeem in a viral video as contemptuous and affront to the court where he made a derogatory statement in an attempt to downplay the authority of the court that "the judgment of the court amounted to nothing and that they have resolved to install one Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka (MC Oluomo) as National President of the union and also install one Mustapha Adekunle as the Lagos State Chairman. "We are aware of a video on social media where Alhaji Najeem Yasin gathered some people telling them that there is nothing the court can do. “I want to sound a note of warning that Alh. Najeem Yasin should be aware there is a court order restraining him from interfering in the affairs of the union. We are using this opportunity to call on the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Federation, Minister of Labour and Employment, Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 7, FCT Commissioner of Police to give effect to the judgement of National Industrial Court recognising Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as valid and substantive elected President of NURTW," the lawyer said. He narrated how Najeem's illegal group executed a coup d'état to hijack the National Secretariat of the union with the help of the police who unjustly arrested Baruwa and other executed members and later charge them to court for the offence they never committed. According to Babaleye “On 11th March, 2024 a judgment was delivered in which the election of Alh. Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa was confirmed as valid and that nothing should be to stop him from performing as democratically elected President of the union along with all other members of National Executive Council. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, said that the country continues to remain one because of the prayers of the church and responsible religious organisations. Wike stated this on Thursday when he received a delegation from the Abuja Archdiocese of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, led by the Archbishop, Most Reverend Michael O. Akinwale, on a courtesy visit. “The role the church is playing is very important. So, the government will always partner with the church and other religious groups because the government cannot do it alone. Just like the President said the other day, the country requires prayers for peace; we require prayers for stability; we require prayers for the country to move forward,” he said. "It takes the church and other religious groups that have been responsible and praying for this nation to remain together. And therefore, whatever we can do to support, we will always do that. And that is why, as FCTA, we take responsibility for maintaining the Christian Centre and the National Mosque. These are two national assets for which the FCTA is responsible for their maintenance because we all believe we serve one God.” He assured his guests of the willingness of the FCTA to render any form of support to the Methodist Church while also assuring them that he would welcome a visit from the head of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, the Most Reverend Oliver Aba. https://dailypost.ng/2024/03/14/wike-gives-reason-nigeria-is-still-together/

Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is almost certain that the party will win the Sept. 21 Edo governorship election, going by the qualities of its candidate Sen. Monday Okpebholo. Ganduje said this on Saturday in Abuja when he presented the certificate of return to Okpebholo, saying that there was a need for other aspirants to work with him to ensure the party’s victory in the state. He said that direct primaries were held in 192 wards in the state with records and video evidence, adding that Okpebholo was declared winner because he got the highest votes. “The full cooperation, harmony and unity of all aspirants and members of our party is all we need now to win Edo in the coming election now that the primary is over. "The party has a product that is refined, well packaged and sellable to the electorate in the person of Okpebholo and is therefore ready to win Edo,” Ganduje said. He said that other aspirants had since congratulated Okpebholo as the party’s candidate. Mr Nze Duru, the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary while presenting the committee’s report to Ganduje, said the primaries was adjudge nationally and internationally to the the most peaceful, fairest and transparent in the state. Okpebholo in his remarks, called on other aspirants who contested the party’s ticket with him to join forces with him to ensure that the APC win the Sept. 21 governorship election. Also speaking, Sen. Lucky Imasuen one of the aspirants who contested the party’s ticket with Okpebholo said the National Working Committee (NWC)was hard working, sincere and fair in the handling of the Edo primarily election. He commended the APC Edo Governorship Primary Election Committee for a job well done, assuring that the other aspirants would work hand in hand with Okpebholo to ensure APC’s victory at the poll. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dennis Idahosa was initially declared the winner of the Edo Governorship Primary Election on Feb. 17, by the Gov. Hope Uzodinma-led Governorship Primary Election Committee. The APC NWC however, upturned Idahosa’s election and declared the election as inconclusive. The committee slated Feb.21 for a supplementary election and replaced Uzodinma with Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River as chairman. Otu while declaring Okpebholo as winner of the supplementary primaries, said he got 12,433 votes to defeat 11 other aspirants in the contest. Okpebholo currently represents Edo Central at the National Assembly. https://thenationonlineng.net/apc-ll-record-overwhelming-victory-in-edo-governorship-election-ganduje/

By Ndahi Marama, Maiduguri The Borno State Internal Revenue Service (BoIRS) said it introduced tax relief for payers to reduce hardship and ease of doing business in the state. This is even as the service was able to block leakages and generated N2.8 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) between January 1st and February 15th, this year 2024. This was disclosed at the weekend by the Executive Chairman of the service, Prof Bello Ibrahim, during a press briefing which took place at the conference room of the BoIRS in Maiduguri. Ibrahim explained that the signing of Executive Order (5) by Governor Babagana Zulum has led to the establishment of the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM), which allows the service to listen to all complaints from taxpayers and give Redress. ” I am happy to inform you that the signing of Executive Order (5) by His Excellency, Governor Babagana Zulum has led to the establishment of the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM). This allows the service to attend to and listen to all complaints from the general public on the issues of taxation. “Even today, we received complaints and reviewed them. An individual can walk into our office and say this tax behaviour is huge on me, I can’t pay. “We then look at the complaints and see where we can panel beat. We will ask him for his explanation to figure out how we can provide him with tax relief,” he said. Professor of Economics said that in all states of the federation taxpayers must comply with the 67-day statutory period otherwise it becomes an act of enforcement. “Remember I said, if you have N2,000 in Borno State, you can pay in three instalments, isn’t it a relief? “On average, a roadside vulcaniser pays N6,000 no matter how big the business is, provision shops pay N9,500, and they can pay 9 times. Is it not a relief? “This is not practised anywhere. It’s part of the relief we are giving to taxpayers. We need tax in order to survive as a state, we don’t have anything” he said. He noted that all governments around the world rely on tax for revenue to engage in meaningful development projects. “We have people and we want to rely on them, and in doing that, we have been very lenient and considerate on the situation on the ground” he said. He said the tax model adopted by the commission is teaching people to accept taxation. “It would interest you to know that the service under my leadership was able to block leakages and generate N2.8 billion IGR between January 1st and February 15th this year, this is unprecedented in the history of the BoIRS. “The Service collected N1.7 billion in revenues in January, while N1.1 billion had been generated from February 1 to February 15th, 2024. “We also generated N19.4 billion from Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as the 27 local government areas in last year, 2023. ” We achieved these through our sustainable introduction of four alternative means of payments, which include; commercial banks, Point of Service (POS), Android phones and tax payment agents at no cost. “The state has recorded this remarkable increase in revenue due to blockage of leakages, dedication and improved welfare of staff as well as application of modern technology in the tax collection payment systems”. He stated https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/hardship-borno-introduces-tax-relief-mechanism-to-ease-doing-business/ |
Stephen Angbulu The Presidency says a controlled floatation of the naira to prevent further devaluation would only return Nigeria to the economic regime of the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. It said the policy, which saw about $1.5bn spent monthly to shore up the naira, fuelled financial malpractices, such as arbitrage which hurt the economy. The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, made this assertion in a statement he signed Sunday titled, ‘Once again, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar got it wrong.’ Onanuga was responding to a former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at the 2023 polls, Atiku Abubakar, who argued that Tinubu’s economic policies, especially the unification of the exchange rate, were implemented hastily without adequate planning and proper consultations with stakeholders. President Tinubu’s economic reforms of the past nine months have sparked collateral instability in the value of the naira, heaping hardship on Nigerians as food prices continue to soar. Atiku criticised the government, saying, “The wrong policies of the Tinubu administration continue to cause untold pain and distress on the economy and the rest of us cannot keep quiet when the government has demonstrated sufficient poverty of ideas to redeem the situation.” He argued that “Given Nigeria’s underlying economic conditions, adopting a floating exchange rate system would be an overkill. We would have encouraged the Central Bank of Nigeria to adopt a gradualist approach to FX management. A managed-floating system would have been a preferred option.” Atiku observed that the naira might fluctuate daily in such a system, but the CBN would step in to control and stabilise its value. “Such control will be exercised judiciously and responsibly, especially to curb speculative activities,” he noted. But the Presidency disagreed, saying, “Atiku’s alternative of a controlled floatation of the naira is similar to the policy of Godwin Emefiele when an estimated $1.5bn was spent monthly to shore up the naira, while arbitrage or round-tripping went on unhindered. Sadly, it was perpetrated by people close to the corridors of power.” Onanuga noted that last Thursday’s meeting between the President, his vice, and state governors was not to discuss currency fluctuation as Atiku claimed but food supply and how to drastically reduce the fluctuation in food prices. Citing Tinubu’s plea to governors to allow the CBN to work and his stance not to establish a commodity board, he said, “We expected Alhaji Atiku to praise President Tinubu for maintaining this stance and for not interfering with the business of Central Bank. "It is false and preposterous for Atiku to claim that CBN’s FX management policy was hurriedly put together without proper plans and consultations with stakeholders and that the apex bank is hamstrung by Tinubu’s government in implementing a sound FX Management Policy’ that would have dealt with such issues as increasing liquidity, curtailing/regulating demand, dealing with FX backlogs and rate convergence.’ https://punchng.com/atikus-solution-will-return-nigeria-to-emefiele-era-presidency/

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have asked the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government to throw in the towel if it cannot mobilise all organs and tiers of government for sustainable solutions to the economic challenges confronting Nigerians. There has been a recent rise in food prices and economic difficulties, which has made it challenging for Nigerians to buy necessary items. The PDP governors, under the leadership of the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Monday, said Nigeria under Tinubu was almost on the path to becoming like Venezuela. In response, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated in a release that drawing parallels between Nigeria and Venezuela was mischievous, emphasizing that many of the PDP governors have failed to fulfill obligations such as paying minimum wage, gratuities, and pensions. He stated, “It is far-fetched when the PDP governors, who are supposed to be major players in driving economic growth and prosperity for our citizens in their respective states, mischievously and falsely compare our current economic challenges to Venezuela.” Reacting in a statement on Saturday, the PDP Governors Forum’s Director General, Cyril Maduabum, explained that the governors of the party patriotically offered advice to the Federal Government, suggesting initiatives that involve both the Federal and State Governments to address the security and economic challenges confronting the nation. He said the suggestions and advice were provided as contributions from a group of patriotic governors who actively participate in governance. The Forum praised Tinubu for organising a special meeting to address some of the raised issues and urged that the resolutions of the meeting should be implemented. The statement read in part “It must be noted that even though Nigeria is a Federation, there is indeed only one economy. “Hardship and suffering being faced by Nigerians have no tribal, religious or party colouration. A hungry man is an angry man. “While all tiers of government have a role to play, the APC-led Federal Government has a disproportionate role to play in mobilising Nigerians and all organs and tiers of government for sustainable solutions. If it can not do so or is unable to do so, it should graciously throw in the towel. "Attempts by the Honourable Minister of Information, APC Governors’ Forum, and other officials of the Federal Government who criticised the PDP Governors’ Forum for their patriotic intervention should be guided by the fact that the APC sought power to solve the problems of Nigeria not to compound them or shift blame, or grandstand or use propaganda to obfuscate or confuse issues. "PDP-governed states are comparatively the best in Nigeria in terms of developmental policies, programmes, and projects that benefit their states positively, regular payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities, and minimum wage to their workforce. State governments that are delinquent on these issues are not of PDP extraction. It is false to say so. Even the food crises are exacerbated by insecurity and high exchange rate issues, among others, which are largely federal subjects. "The PDP Governors as stakeholders in governance would continue to work collaboratively with Mr. President to find lasting solutions to a very difficult situation created or exacerbated by the APC since 2015. We believe in cooperative federalism. "The buck ultimately stops at Mr. President’s table as the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation, the Chief Salesman and leader of Nigeria. We are not in doubt that he is trying his best. We only hope and pray that his best is good enough to take Nigeria out of the woods in the shortest possible time.” https://punchng.com/quit-if-you-cant-solve-nigerias-problems-pdp-govs-tell-apc/

By Ibrahim Hassan-Wuyo The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejere Adeboye, said Nigeria needs urgent spiritual help to overcome the challenges confronting the nation. The pastor spoke in Kaduna on Sunday while on a visit to the state’s governor, Uba Sani. According to Adeboye, the challenges facing the country were more than political, but problems that required spiritual solutions. “We don’t want a situation where people begin to think of taking their own lives,” he said. He said that political leaders appeared to have tried their humanly possible best, yet the problems persisted. “Nigeria needs the help of God and it needs the help urgently,” he added. "I’m in Kaduna to pray for the people and give them hope,” he said. Adeboye, however, expressed confidence that although the problems confronting Nigeria seemed to have persisted and in some areas getting worse, he trusted God that, the problems would not last forever and they would even be over sooner than later. According to him, his tour of Nigeria, which brought him to Kaduna, was not just to organise crusades and pray for the people and Nigeria, but an opportunity to gather people together to let them know that, tomorrow is going to be alright if Nigerians can be a little more patient with God. "I am delighted to be here again. I was here about two or so years ago with the former governor; at that time, I came to pray for some of my members who were kidnapped and they were miraculously rescued. I came to encourage their families to let them know that all will be well.” "I have come again this time around because it has become more and more clearer to us that, the problem our nation is facing is more than political. Our problems will require a bit of spiritual solution. “We as a country are blessed; we are blessed with people with great intelligence, we are blessed with all manners of resources and yet we have so many problems. “And it is not as if people in authority are not trying their best; they are doing as much as humanly possible. And then we found out that when you have problems that are beyond human ability to solve, you call on the Almighty. The reason we call Him Almighty is because He has the power to solve all problems. “So, we have been going around in our little way to support the efforts of all the various governments and parastatals to call on the Almighty to come to our aid, because we need help. We need help and we need it urgently. Because, as much as our leaders are doing their very best to help us solve our problems, the problems seem to have persisted, and in some areas, the problems seem to be getting worse. But we trust in Almighty God that, this problems will not last forever. We trust God that the problem will even be over sooner than later.” "That is why we have been going round holding crusade and the crusade are just a means of gathering people together to let them know tomorrow is going to be alright if we can be a little more patient with God. We believe very strongly that people need this kind of encouragement so that they don’t lose hope. "Because when they lose hope they do all kinds of strange things; many of our youths for example, are running out of the country, forgetting that those countries they are running to, also have their own problems and then those who cannot run anywhere, we don’t want a situation where people begin to think of taking their own lives.” "We have had quiet a few examples of people driving in Lagos to the long bridge and jumping into the lagoons. Those of them that were rescued before they drowned said they couldn’t see a future, but we keep on assuring them God is on His throne and he is not going to forsake our nation,” he said. Governor Uba Sani told the visiting clergy that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government “needs prayers and support of clerics like you to succeed.” "You have at critical times in our country, led interventions aimed at directing the political leadership to the path of justice and fairness. Your modern authority is a huge asset and we deeply appreciate you, sir. “We also believe Sir, that from the remarks you made just now, that our country at this critical time requires intervention from people like you who are tested and who have in the past intervened and helped us to find solutions to our problems. We believe you won’t be tired, we also need an intervention at this critical time.” “Like you said, many Nigerians are loosing hope and they have been very cautious about the future but like I said, we are going through difficulties because of what happened in the past and right now we have a President who is determined and focused and ready to take the country to a greater height and I have no doubt, with your intervention and prayers, our President will certainly get it right." “So far, Mr President has taken some very important steps towards moving our country forward but most of these steps are things that might be difficult at this critical time because they are major reforms we need; both economic reforms, as well as social reforms and looking at some of the things that happened in the past hoping to correct them; “We need some reforms that might be painful at this critical time but I have no doubt that in the nearest future, Nigeria will be better for all of us by the grace of God.” The governor said, “We will continue to seek for your advice, for your wisdom, for your support and most importantly, for your prayers. We thank you for coming to Kaduna and we will continue to consult you for advice and wisdom.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/economic-hardship-nigeria-needs-spiritual-help-adeboye/amp/

By Raphael Ogbonnaiye The kidnapped schoolchildren of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State and their teachers have been released. Daily Trust learnt that the victims regained their freedom around 2.00 a.m on Sunday. The children and their teachers had been with the kidnappers for about seven days. In a short video clip obtained by our correspondent, the freed pupils and their teachers sat on the floor, looking tired as a mother lamented the condition of her child in the background. Daily Trust reported that the abductors had demanded N100 million for the release of the victims, but it was not immediately clear if a ransom was eventually paid or not. A school bus conveying pupils and some staff members of the school to their respective houses was ambused by gunmen Monday evening. About 10 occupants of the bus — five schoolchildren, three teachers and the driver — were abducted and whisked away. There were rumours on Saturday that the victims had been released, which the police debunked. https://dailytrust.com/breaking-abducted-ekiti-schoolchildren-regain-freedom/ |
