What are the dates of the birth and death of the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? I have seen many opinions concerning that; which is the correct opinion and what is the evidence in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah? Praise be to Allah Firstly: The biographers and historians differed concerning the day and month of the birth of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). This is something for which there is good reason, as it was not known what status this newborn would achieve; his situation was like that of any other newborn. Hence no one can state with certainty the date of his birth (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Dr. Muhammad at-Tayyib an-Najjaar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Perhaps the reason for this difference of opinion is that when he was born, no one expected that he would attend such a status. For that reason, he did not live in the spotlight from the beginning of his life. When Allah decreed that the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) should begin to convey His message forty years after he was born, people began to seek out whatever memories they had about this Prophet, and they asked one another about every detail of his life. They were helped in that by what the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) himself narrated about incidents that he had experienced from his birth, as well as the reports narrated by his Companions and those who had also gone through those events with him. At that time the Muslims began to collect everything that they had heard about the life story of their Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in order to transmit it to the people down throughout the ages Al-Qawl al-Mubeen fi Seerat Sayyid al- Mursaleen , p. 78 Secondly: Among the matters on which there is consensus with regard to his birth (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the definition of the year and the day. 1. With regard to the year: It was the Year of the Elephant. Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There is no difference of opinion concerning the fact that he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was born in Makkah, and that his birth was in the Year of the Elephant. Zaad al-Ma‘aad fi Hadiy Khayr al-‘Ibaad , 1/76 Muhammad ibn Yoosuf as-Saalihi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Ishaaq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: (It was) the Year of the Elephant. Ibn Katheer said: This is the well-known view of the majority. Ibraaheem ibn al-Mundhir al-Hizaami, the Shaykh of al-Bukhaari, said: This is the opinion concerning which none of the scholars has any doubt. Khaleefah ibn Khayyaat, Ibn al-Jazzaar, Ibn Dihyah, Ibn al-Jawzi and Ibn al-Qayyim went further and narrated that there was consensus on this matter. Subul al-Huda wa’r-Rashaad fi Seerat Khayr al-‘Ibaad , 1/334, 335 Dr. Akram Diya’ al-‘Umari (may Allah guide him) said: In fact the reports that say otherwise all have flawed isnaads; they suggest that he was born ten years, or twenty-three years, or forty years, after the Year of the Elephant. But the majority of scholars are of the view that he was born in the Year of the Elephant. This is supported by the modern study undertaken by both Muslim and Orientalist researchers who stated that the Year of the Elephant corresponds to the year 570 CE or 571 CE. As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah as-Saheehah , 1/97 2. With regard to the day: It was a Monday. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was born on a Monday, his mission began on a Monday and he died on a Monday. It was narrated that Abu Qataadah al-Ansaari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was asked about fasting on Mondays and he said: “That is a day on which I was born and on it my mission began – or Revelation came to me.” Narrated by Muslim, 1162. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Those who say that he was born on Friday 17th Rabee‘ al-Awwal were mistaken. This was narrated by al-Haafiz Ibn Dihyah from what he read [?] of the book I‘laam ar-Wara bi A‘laam al-Huda by one of the Shi‘ah. Then Ibn Dihyan stated why it was da‘eef (weak), and it deserves to be classed as da‘eef because it is contrary to the text. As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah , 1/199 Thirdly: With regard to the point on which there is scholarly disagreement, that has to do with defining the month and the day of the month. We have come across many opinions concerning that, including the following: 1. That he was born on 2nd Rabee ‘ al-Awwal. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It was said that he was born on the second of the month. This was stated by Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr in al-Isti‘aab , and was narrated by al-Waaqidi from Abu Ma‘shar Nujayh ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan al-Madani. As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah , 1/199 2. It was said that he was born on 8 th Rabee‘ al- Awwal. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It was said that he was born on the eighth of the month. This was narrated by al-Humaydi from Ibn Hazm, and was narrated by Maalik, ‘Aqeel, Yoonus ibn Yazeed and others from az- Zuhri from Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut‘im. Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr narrated that the historians regarded it as saheeh; it was stated definitively by al-Haafiz al-Kabeer Muhammad ibn Moosa al-Khawaarizmi, and was regarded as most likely to be correct by al-Haafiz Abu’l-Khattaan ibn Dihyah in his book at-Tanweer fi Mawlid al-Basheer an-Nadheer . As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah, 1/199 3. It was said that he was born on 10th Rabee ‘ al-Awwal. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It was said that he was born on the tenth of the month. This was narrated by Ibn Dihyah in his book, and was narrated by Ibn ‘Asaakir from Abu Ja‘far al-Baaqir. It was also narrated by Mujaalid from ash-Sha‘bi. As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah , 1/199 4. It was said that he was born on 12th Rabee ‘ al-Awwal. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It was said that he was born on the twelfth of the month. This was stated by Ibn Ishaaq. It was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in his Musannaf from ‘Affaan from Sa‘eed ibn Meena’ that Jaabir and Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was born in the Year of the Elephant on Monday 12th Rabee‘ al-Awwal; on Monday his mission began, on Monday he was taken up to heaven, on Monday he migrated, and on Monday he died. This is the well-known opinion according to the majority. And Allah knows best. As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah , 1/199 It was also said that he was born in Ramadan or in Safar or some other month. What appears to us to be the case is that the strongest opinion concerning the birth of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is that he was born between the eighth and the twelfth of Rabee‘ al-Awwal. Some Muslim mathematicians and astronomers have determined that the Monday in question was the ninth of Rabee‘ al-Awwal. It may be that this is another opinion, and it has some merit. That corresponds to 20 th April 571 CE. This is what the authors of some modern books on Seerah (Prophet’s biography) regard as most likely to be correct, including Professor Muhammad al-Khudari and Safi ar-Rahmaan al- Mubaarakfoori. Abu’l-Qaasim as-Suhayli (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The mathematicians say that his birth occurred in the solar month of April, on the twentieth of that month. Ar-Rawd al-Unuf , 1/282 Prof. Muhammad al-Khudari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Egyptian astronomer Mahmoud Basha (d. 1885 CE) who was well-versed in astronomy, geography and mathematics, and wrote several books based on his research stated that it was on the morning of Monday 9 th Rabee‘ al- Awwal, which corresponds to 20 th April 571 CE. That corresponds to the first year following the elephant incident. He was born in the house of Abu Taalib in Shi‘ab Banu Haashim. Noor al-Yaqeen fi Seerat Sayyid al-Mursaleen (p. 9). See also ar-Raheeq al-Makhtoom (p. 41). Fourthly: With regard to the date of the death of our Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), there is no difference of opinion concerning the fact that it occurred on a Monday. The report narrated from Ibn Qutaybah, saying that it occurred on a Wednesday, is not correct. Perhaps what he meant is that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was buried on Wednesday, which is correct. With regard to the year of his death, there is no difference of opinion concerning the fact that it was in 11 AH. With regard to the month of his death, there is no difference of opinion concerning the fact that it was in Rabee‘ al-Awwal. With regard to the date of his death in that month, there is a difference of opinion among the scholars. 1. The majority are of the view that it occurred on 12 th Rabee‘ al-Awwal. 2. al-Khawaarizmi was of the view that it occurred on 1 st Rabee‘ al-Awwal. 3. Ibn al-Kalbi and Abu Makhnaf were of the view that it occurred on 2nd Rabee‘ al-Awwal. As-Suhayli was inclined to favour this view and al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) regarded it as most likely to be correct. The most well-known view is that of the majority, which is that the death of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) occurred on 12 th Rabee‘ al-Awwal 11 AH. See ar-Rawd al-Unuf by as-Suhayli (4/439, 440); as-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah by Ibn Katheer (4/509); Fath al-Baari by Ibn Hajar (8/130). And Allah knows best. source: islamqa.com |

Ruling on Muslims congratulating one another on the occasion of the Gregorian New Year Is it permissible for muslims to congratulate each other and give duaa on the new year based on the Gregorian calendar without the intention of celebrating it ? Praise be to Allah. It is not permissible for the Muslims to exchange greetings on the occasion of the Gregorian New Year, and it is not permissible for them to celebrate it, because both of these matters involve imitation of the kuffaar, and we have been forbidden to do that. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Narrated by Abu Dawood , 4031; classed as saheeh by al- Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood Moreover, offering greetings on this day that comes back each year comes under the heading of celebrating it and taking it as a festival, which is also forbidden. And Allah knows best. source: islamqa.com |
CONTINUATION: INABILITY TO RETRIEVE LIFE : Being an established fact that any allowance for second chance (by returning back to the worldly life) is null and void, and that whenever the appointed term expires, one must die either young or old, thus, Islam enjoins Muslims to always be on their toes, preparing for the inevitable trip – death . Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) “ Exist in this world like a stranger or a wayfarer” (Reported by Imam Al- Bukhary ( Abdullah bn ‘Umar was also used to admonish as follows, “When you wake up in the morning, do not expect (that you will be living by) evening; and when you live up to evening, expect morning not ”. After death, an individual commences a new phase of existence, which is life in the grave. This new phase of existence, however, differs in totality from the former . Due to the nature of that existence of the grave, some people would plead for returning, retrieving, transformation, transmigration and reincarnation in order to amend and correct their ill-deeds or to accomplish their suspended projects but it will be too late to cry when the head has been chopped off or to shut the stable-door when the horse is already being stolen . Almighty Allah confirms this, :saying “ Until when death comes to one of them, he says: ‘O my Lord! Send me back(to life) – in order that I may work righteousness in the things I neglected. By no means! It is but a word he says. Before them is a partition till the day they are raised up” (Q23 v 99-100( In this verse, Allah (SAW) warns that man should be hasty in doing good deeds before a time that his requests to be reincarnated would be over ruled. Allah warns ,further “ And spend something (in charity) out of the substance which we have bestowed on you, before death should come to any of you and he should say, ‘O my Lord! Why didst thou not give me respite for little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good.”(Q63:10( In an arabic poetry it sang thus , “ Whoever escapes sword will die by other, causes may differ but death is one ” This is an overwhelming proof that no human being, righteous or mischievous, will be favored with another worldly sojourn whether by reincarnation or whatsoever type of universal existence, such as in African fallacy of rebirth or spiritual communication of dead for .revenge What an odd idea! When somebody gives birth to a new baby in Africa- Yoruba culture as a case study- immediately after the demise of a biologically close family member, it is believed that it is that dead person that has returned to the same family, and the child, as a result, would be named either ‘Babatunde’ (the returning father) or ‘Iyabo’ (the returning mother) depending on the gender of the baby .respectively It is even believed that a same child can be reborn as many as possible. This sort of myth is absolutely incorrect and erroneous according to the teachings of Islam, for the Africans have no any cogent or convincing proof to affirm this rather than mere traces and week assumptions mainly based on philosophical fallacies and unrealistic hypotheses . LIFE IN THE GRAVE : Unambiguously, Islam has expatiated that when one dies, according to As- shaykh Abu Bakr Jabir Al- Jazairy, and the deceased is deposited in the grave while his family are turning away, he will be listening to the sounds of their shoes, when two Angels would appear to him, sit him down and inquire: “What were you saying concerning this man- Muhammad (p.b.u.h.)? A believer would answer: “I bore witness that he was servant of Allah and His messenger.” It would be said to him: “Look at your place in the Hell; Allah has changed it for another in the Al-Jannah (paradise).” And he would see both. The hypocrite would be equally asked: “What were you saying about this man? He would answer frightenedly ,”I don’t know, but I did say what people said.” They will then shout at him, “ You didn’t know and didn’t obey!” As a result, he would be beaten up with iron .hammer Imam Bukhaary mentioned that prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was quoted to have said, “whenever any of you dies, his place would be shown to him day and night. If he is a dweller of hell, he would be among them (people of Hell). Then it would be said to him:”This is your place till Allah will resurrect you on the day of Qiyaamah ” Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) also said:” Grave is the first house of hereafter, if a servant is preserved (from being punished) in it, every other thing would be easier” (Reported by Al- Bukhaary( There is in the grave, either better or worse life regardless of age, gender or colour. The infidels would be bi- periodically tormented in the grave according to the following ,verse “ Certain of the desert Arabs round you are hypocrites, as well as among the Madinah folk: They are obstinate in hypocrisy: thou knoweth them not: we know m: twice shall we punish them; and in addition shall they be sent to a grievous chastisement” (Q9:101 ( This two periods of time are further “ In front of fire will they be brought, morning and evening, and (the sentence would be) on the day when the hour comes to pass: ’cast yee the people of Pharaoh into the severe penalty ” These two mentioned verses indicate that an unrighteous soul shall always remain with rigorous torment in the grave (day and night), being penurious of reincarnation, while the righteous ones would also remain therein in tranquility till the day of Qiyaamah. This is evident in the above quoted verses, for the only periods for human existence to make his 24hrs, according to the holy Qur’an, are two not three- day and night ) ) , with which dead would be engaged in the grave as regard to his occupied place therein . For further clarifications, the messenger of Allah, one day, passed by two graves and he affirmed that, ”Both of them are in punishment; their punishment is not a result of major or heinous crime, but one of them was always found of slander while the other was accustomed to the habit of easing himself openly.” (Reported by Imamul Bukhaary( . Life in the grave is known as ‘Barzakh’. Al-Barzakh, according to Ash-shaykh al- Imam Salih Al- Uthaymeen, is the spiritual partition between the material world and the occurrence of the last hour. Whether one is buried, abandoned on dust and eaten by animals, deteriorated by winds or settled in the depth of river, all of these are confirmed as ‘Barzakh ’ our next topic is PLACES OF SOULS IN ‘BARZAKH Jazakumullah |

[color=#000099][/color]How to get treated for physical and psychological illnesses Q: My wife suffered a psychological disease that caused her to fear everything and she could not stay alone. Another person has the same condition and cannot go to the Masjid (mosque) to pray in congregation and he is asking about the cure for his condition in order not to resort to soothsayers and charlatans. A: There is no disease for which Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) has not also sent down the cure; some people know the cure while others do not. Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) has made the Qur'an and the Sunnah a cure for all physical and psychological diseases and bestowed their beneficial healing effects on people in countless cases. People may experience certain conditions that cause them fear and panic without knowing the clear reason. Indeed, Allah has placed countless goodness, peace, and cures in what He revealed to His Prophet (peace be upon him). I advise these two questioners and others to use the Adhkar (invocations and remembrances said at certain times on a regular basis) that Allah has legislated, which bring about safety, tranquility, peace, and protection from Satan's tricks. For example, they may recite Ayat-ul-Kursy (the Qur’anic Verse of Allah’s Chair, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255): Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al- Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). ( Page No: 368) This is the greatest Ayah (Qur'anic verse) in the Book of Allah. It comprises Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah) and devotion to Allah (Exalted be He) and shows His Grandeur and Sublimity and that He is the Ever- Living, the Sustainer of existence, the Owner of everything, for Whom nothing is impossible. Glory be to Allah, the Most Great, and all praise is His. When a person recites this Ayah after each Salah and before going to sleep, it protects them from all evils. It was authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Anyone who recites Ayat- ul-Kursy upon going to sleep will have a guard from Allah to protect them (all night long) and no devil will approach them until the morning. Any person who has fear or anxiety should apply this prescription before sleep and after each Salah; their heart will feel tranquil and they will not see anything bad, In sha’a- Allah (if Allah wills), provided they believe that what the Messenger (peace be upon him) said and taught is unquestionably true. Allah (Exalted be He) has legislated for male and female Muslims to recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al- Mu`awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and Al-Nas) after performing each obligatory Salah (Prayer) as doing so is one of the causes of being healthy, safe, and sound from all evils. In addition, reciting Surah Al- Ikhlas brings a reward equivalent to reciting one- third of the Qur'an. It is Sunnah (action following the teachings of the Prophet) that a person recites the three Surahs mentioned above three times after Fajr (Dawn) Prayer, Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer, and when going to sleep, for there are Sahih Hadiths to this effect. Among the means that brings peace, well-being, tranquility, and safety against anything bad is to seek refuge with the Perfect Words of Allah from the evils of what He (Exalted be He) has created three times in the morning and in the evening by saying: I seek refuge with the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created. Many Hadiths indicate that this supplication is among the means of protection and well-being. Similarly, saying: In the Name of Allah, with Whose Name nothing on earth or in ( Page No: 369) heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing three times in the morning and in the evening brings safety and well-being. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told us that whoever says these supplications in the morning nothing will harm them until the evening and vice versa. These formulae of Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) and supplications for refuge and protection mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah are means of maintaining peace, security, and protection from all evils. Thus, every believing man and woman should recite them regularly with sincerity and faith, putting their trust in Allah and depending upon Him. Indeed, Allah is the One Who manages, knows, and can do everything. There is no god or lord except Him, in Whose Hand is giving, depriving, benefiting, and harming, and He is the Owner of everything. They should also firmly believe that the Messenger (peace be upon him) is the most truthful of all people who does not speak of his own desire; his words are revelations sent to him. Allah (Exalted be He) says: By the star when it goes down (or vanishes). Your companion (Muhammad has neither gone astray nor has erred. Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only a Revelation revealed. May Allah's Best Peace and Blessings be upon him. [Issued by His Eminence Shaykh `Abdul-`Aziz ibn `Abdullah ibn Baz] |

All praise be to Allah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon the Last of the Prophets, our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and Companions. To proceed: In its 29th conference held in Riyadh from 9/6/1407 A.H. to 20/6/1407 A.H., the Council of Senior Scholars examined the documents concerning the issue of abortion that were submitted by the Military Hospital in Riyadh and also examined the views of specialists in this field. After carefully considering and discussing the symptoms and dangers that a pregnant woman may be exposed to during the various phases of pregnancy; and due to the differences in doctors' views; and through examining some medical reports in which was stated a certain view regarding a certain case but ( Page No: 284) when this view was discussed with other doctors another view was reached, such as when two doctors make an initial decision concerning a case of pregnancy but when discussing the matter with a number of other doctors a contradictory decision cornering the case is taken; and as a precautionary measure against aborting the pregnancy for the slightest reason; and as a means of warding off evil consequences and achieving benefits; and because some people may take the matter of pregnancy lightly although it is respected by Shari`ah (Islamic law), the Council of Senior Scholars determined the following: 1- It is not permissible to abort a pregnancy at any stage except for a Shar`y (Islamically lawful) justification and within very tight limits. 2- If the pregnancy is in the first stage, which is forty days, and aborting it serves a Shar`y purpose or averts an excepted harm, then it is permissible. However, if aborting it at such a stage is due to a fear of difficulty in raising children, the inability to pay the costs of raising and educating them, or fearing for their future or because the parents do not want any more children, then it is not permissible. 3- It is not permissible to abort a pregnancy if it is `Alaqah (clot; a piece of coagulated blood) or Mudghah (a little lump of flesh). However, if a trustworthy medical committee states that the continuance of the pregnancy will endanger the mother's life and may cause her to die, then it is permissible after using every possible means to avert these dangers. 4- It is not permissible to abort a pregnancy after the third stage (i.e. after the completion of four months of pregnancy) unless a group of trustworthy specialists in the field state that if the fetus remains in the mother's womb, it will cause her to die. This should be done only after using every possible means to maintain the survival of the fetus. Abortion is permissible in this case under the conditions previously mentioned, because this wards off the graver ( Page No: 285) of two evils and achieves the greater of two benefits. The Council of Senior Scholars, having decided the above-mentioned points, advises Taqwa (fear of offending Allah) and that people should consider the matter carefully before doing it. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions. [Decree of the Council of Senior Scholars no. 140 dated 20/6/1407 A.H.] |
Eating food prepared for a Christian festival What is the ruling on eating food prepared for a Christian festival? What is the ruling on accepting their invitation to their celebrations of the birth of the Messiah (peace be upon him) [i.e., Christmas celebrations]? Praise be to Allaah. It is not permissible to celebrate innovated festivals such as the Christmas of the Christians, or Nowrooz (Persian New Year) or Mahrajaan (Persian festival), or festivals that have been innovated by Muslims such as the Prophet’s birthday in Rabee’ al-Awwal or the Israa’ in Rajab and so on. It is not permissible to eat from that food which the Christians or Mushrikeen prepare on the occasion of their festivals. It is also not permissible to accept their invitations to join them in their celebrations of those festivals, because this encourages them and is tantamount to approving of their bid’ah, which gives the wrong idea to ignorant people and makes them think that there is nothing wrong with that. And Allaah knows best. From Al-Lu’lu’ al-Makeen min Fataawaa Ibn Jibreen, p. 27. |

SODOMY AND LESBIANISM In more than one place in the Holy Koran, Allah recounts to us the story of Lot's people, and how He destroyed them for their wicked practice. There is consensus among both Muslims and the followers of all other religions that sodomy is an enormity. It is even viler and uglier than adultery. Allah Most High says: "Do you approach the males of humanity, leaving the wives that Allah has created for you? But you are a people who transgress" Koran (26:165-66) (1) The Prophet (saws) said: (1) "Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets if be done to him." (Tirmidhi, a sahih (authentic) hadith) (2) "May Allah curse him who does that Lot's people did." (Ibn Hibban, sahih (authentic)) (3) "Lesbianism by women is adultery between them." (Tabarani, sahih)" Taken from the Reliance of the Traveller, transltaed by Nuh Ha Mim Keller, p 664-665. |
He’s been condemned by other Muslim leaders, and some local imams have even refused to greet him. But Imam Daayiee Abdullah – believed to be the only openly gay imam in America– is proud of his story. According to Aljazeera, Imam Abdullah was born a Christian, born and raised in Detroit, where his parents were Southern Baptists. But at age 15, he told his parents he was gay. At 33, while studying in China, Abdullah converted to Islam, and went on to study the religion in Egypt, Jordan and Syria. But as a gay man in America, he saw that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Muslims had unmet spiritual needs, so he decided to become an imam to attend to their needs. “Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. And because of the necessity in our community, that’s why I came into this particular role,” he told America Tonight about his journey. His first act as an imam was performing funeral rites, Muslim body cleaning ritual for a gay Muslim who died of AIDS. Pained Abdullah said: “They had contacted a number of imams, and no one would go and provide him his janazah services. This pained me. “I believe every person, no matter if I disagree with you or not, you have the right as a Muslim to have the proper spiritual [rites] and rituals provided for you. “And whoever judges you, that will be Allah’s decision, not me. “The beautiful thing about God is that when you change your attitude, and say, ‘God, I need some help,’ and mean it sincerely, God is always there for you,” Abdullah serves as the imam and educational director of the Light of Reform Mosque in Washington, D.C. A mosque he helped form more than two years ago, to be a safe space for values and practices that other mosques may eschew. In his mosque, women and men kneel side-by- side and women are allowed to lead prayers – actions that have sparked controversy even among American Muslims. His mosque’s congregants are diverse and represent a wide range of cultures, religious upbringings and sexual orientations. For its LGBT congregants, the Light of Reform Mosque is a rare safe space. But not all of them are gay. Many are just Muslims looking for a mosque that accepts all kinds. Not everyone is happy with the mosque though. Some local imams have refused to greet Abdullah, and many others across the country argue his work performing same-sex marriage is not legitimate, and that he should control his “urges.” But Abdullah is firm in his belief. “Being an openly gay imam and having been identified as such, I do get a lot of feedback and also kickback, but that’s OK,” he said. “I think that when people are unfamiliar with things, they tend to have an emotional knee- jerk reaction to it. Abdullah has hope that the message he is working to spread will continue to resonate: “It is our relationship with God and our relationship with each other that really establishes our faith. Not whether you are gay or straight.” source: iReporters

Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka, a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) representing Ogun East in the upper legislative chamber, has defended the appeal by his party to the National Assembly to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan. Kaka, a former deputy governor of Ogun State from 1999 to 2003 during the governorship of Chief Olusegun Osoba, also condemned reactions by the Presidency and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describing APC’s call as treasonable. APC, through its interim National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had on December 15 requested the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the president, arguing that the ship of state was drifting dangerously, adding that the trend had to be arrested. Mohammed’s call came in the wake of former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s open letter to Jonathan, in which he accused the president and his administration of grievous constitutional infractions. The Presidency and PDP, in separate reactions to APC’s call, threatened that treasonable charges may be brought against leaders of the party for conceiving such an idea. But Kaka, Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, insisted in an exclusive interview with Saturday Newswatch, that his party did no wrong. He said there was nothing treasonable in the impeachment of a president. Said he: “If my own party is talking about impeachment, I believe that there is nothing treasonable in the call. Impeachment is entrenched in the constitution and the conditionalities for impeachment are also stated in black and white, which I think my party must have studied very well before making the impeachment call. If we have reached that level and my party is calling for it, I don’t think any law has been breached to the point of classifying it as treasonable charges. “ To the Presidency and PDP, Kaka said: “If we haven’t reached that level constitutionally, democratically, it is left for those alleging treason to prove to the world the aspect of the law that has been broken or backing their allegation. So the issue of treasonable felony is a defeatist approach.” The Senator contended that if some forces allegedly having the backing of the Presidency could threaten governors not in their good books with impeachment, there was nothing wrong in the call by APC for the impeachment of the president. Asked Kaka: “What is the difference between impeachment of a governor and a president? Not only that, if you go to Rivers, they are threatening to impeach the governor with five out of a parliament of 31 lawmakers; which one is more treasonable of the attempted action cited? I believe whatever threat they have against APC, is a misplaced aggression, and it shows the level of delusion the PDP-led government in the country has sunk into over the years.” Commending Obasanjo for his letter to the President, Kaka said the former president had through it spoken the minds of many Nigerians. He added that “for those looking at the messenger and not the message, as far as the said letter is concerned, they need not mind where Obasanjo is coming from or whatever role he had played in the past as regards the current democratic dispensation. The fact of the matter is that through that letter, Obasanjo has spoken out the minds of Nigerians to this government and nothing more.” While calling on government to treat issues raised in the letter and criticisms by other Nigerians in good faith, Kaka said: “Mr. President might have tried his best, but what the generality of people are saying is that his best is not good enough and that is what Chief Obasanjo re-echoed in the said letter.” Kaka advised Nigerian leaders to imbibe the lessons of the life and times of Dr. Nelson Mandela by being responsive to the yearnings of the people. For many Muslims, the process of finding a spouse can sometimes prove challenging and frustrating. During this time not only do brothers and sisters have to wrestle with their own personal quirks, but they also have expectations about the potential mates they are considering. From a sister's point of view, a suitor can exhibit subtle but significant traits that turn her away from wanting to continue getting to know a brother for marriage. The following are the top 11 issues that can help brothers avoid having a sister becoming uninterested and discontinuing communication. In no way is this an exhaustive list; in fact, it was difficult to trim the list down. This list is a collaborative effort on the part of many MuslimMatters Associates – a big jazakum Allahu khayran to all of them. 11. Dress to Impress Generally, when meeting with a suitor, sisters put a lot of effort into presenting themselves respectfully and in a composed manner. A brother who is going to visit his potential wife should reciprocate in like. Remember – first impression, lasting impression. During the first meetings, it is important for the brother to dress decently. Nothing fancy or bling-blingy, just make sure you dress with a purpose – you are presenting yourself to the person you may end up making this big commitment to. Avoid wearing a t- shirt, sweats, or dirty socks – trust us, sisters notice. And be well groomed. Don't walk in looking like a ruffian with your beard all over the place. Although its important to dress well during this courtship period, a brother shouldn't pretend to dress differently than he normally does. For example, thobes can turn parents off sometimes. If guys prefer wearing thobes, then they should make that known to the sister when they talk to her; otherwise, she's gonna get scared and so will her family. Know your taste, but survey the landscape before taking a dive. 10. Kitchen Politics Some girls do not like being directly asked, “What dishes can you cook?”, or when a trolley is rolled out during a visit, “What did she make from these items?” Cooking is something anyone can easily learn after marriage, and most do, so please do not ask this question directly. 9. Information Highway Don't spread information about a sister that you're talking to. At this delicate stage in a relationship, a brother should be very discreet and guard the privacy of the sister he is communicating with – even if the relationship doesn't end up in marriage. If you're a single brother, most likely your friends are also single and looking. If you tell other brothers that you were courting sister so-and- so, this may make them acquire the mentality that “he talked to her, so I can't”. Don't inadvertently ruin a sisters chances by being overly chatty about your courting escapades. 8. Call Back If they are not interested in a sister or something comes up, some brothers just never contact her or her family again. Call back. It's as simple as that. It won't break her heart if you do so…but not calling and making her family wait for days upon days until they give up hope in the proposal… that's worse. It's just one call – make it so that everyone can move on. 7. Sharing is Caring Be sure to show that you've put some thought into the meeting you're going to have with the sister. This can easily be done by bringing a cake, some flowers, or other items with you to the visit. Brothers not bringing something to the house or for family when they first come may be a turn off for some sisters, but this could just be a cultural thing. Find out ahead of time so you can check off this symbolic but sweet gesture from your to-do list. 6. Pathways to Citizenship Please do not marry a girl just because she has a foreign passport or is a citizen of the U.S./U.K./Canada if all else is not compatible with her. It is an insult to choose a girl just for her nationality and then coerce her to change herself to suit your other requirements. 5. Don't be a jokester Seriously, if you want to impress the lady, you have to come off as a serious man. If you're funny, that's a great quality, but not when the girl is sizing you up as a future bread- winner plus role model for kids plus protector (i.e. men are “ Qawwaam” over women). To a sister, one significant sign of readiness is when a brother is financially prepared. Have savings (not just a job) if feasible, and communicate to her that you are financially responsible. 4. Avoid oversharing Some brothers actually mention to the sister the number of girls they've seen for marriage (not for information purposes, but for boasting purposes). Never, ever joke about or carelessly mention other girls you may have been involved with for marriage in the past or other girls you're interested in at present. Be in the moment, and know that a sister is sensitive to comparisons. What wins a sister's heart is making her feel chosen – understandably, everyone has a past, but avoid overly showcasing your past experiences with other sisters. 3. To See or Not to See Before meeting a sister in person, some brothers prefer to see a picture of the sister. Approach the whole picture/seeing her thing gently. It's really easy for a brother to come off rude if he doesn't ask or approach this properly. Some tips for approaching the picture topic graciously: volunteer your picture first, treat the photo like an amanah - look at it once and give it back. Please do NOT take pictures of her on your mobile phone when you are introduced to her. It is disgusting, intrusive, mean, rude… in short, don't do it! Do not ask for a photo at all if you know that the girl wears niqab. And most importantly, don't get offended if the girl's family refuses to hand over a picture of her to you at the first request. 2. Put All the Major Cards on the Table. You want to live with your parents? How many kids do you want? Do you want sister to observe hijab before other male relatives? Do you want sister to wear niqab or not? Will you prevent the sister from working after marriage? Make sure you marry someone who wants the same things that you do, it's best to disagree and move on now than it is to emotionally invest in someone who is pulling in a different direction on issues that you don't feel like you can budge on. It's not about being confrontational but rather about being honest and upfront about how you see yourself living and whether the potential can see themselves in that same situation happily too. Major expectations should be out in the open immediately, but if problems existed in the past (i.e. past psychological issues), this is very sensitive and I imagine it would be very difficult for a prospective suitor to discuss them within the first couple of meetings. Also, people tend to keep things like this under wraps so the family may only discuss them once a solid relationship has developed. While this is understandable, this also causes huge issues and can result in a great deal of heartbreak since an attachment may have already developed by this point. 1. Be honest. At all times. It's very easy to find a lot of information about a guy online, so if he says one thing, yet his Facebook or Twitter profile shows an entirely other side, that's a major red flag for a sister during the initial stages. Honesty is the best policy source:muslimmatters |

What is the viewpoint of Islam toward self- defense? Is it a right? Are there conditions on that right? Does the Qur'an speak to the issue of self-defense? Praise be to Allaah. Protecting oneself and one’s honour, mind, wealth and religion is a well-established basic principle in Islam. These are the five essentials which are well known to Muslims. A person has to defend himself; it is not permissible for him to consume that which will harm him, and it is not permissible for him to allow anyone to harm him. If a person or a vicious animal etc attacks him, he has to defend himself, or his family or his property, and if he is killed he is counted as a shaheed (martyr), and the killer will be in Hell. If the harm that will result from this aggression is little and he gives up defending himself for the sake of Allaah, then undoubtedly Allaah will compensate him for that, so long as this does not cause any increase in the wrongdoing against him or anyone else. Can a person with AIDS masturbate? Is it permissible for an HIV positive person to masturbate?. Praise be to Allaah. Firstly: A person who is a carrier of the virus or who has AIDS may get married to a woman who is healthy or who also has the disease, if she accepts that after coming to know of his condition and to what extent he is affected, and they may agree not to have children, or not to have intercourse. The husband may be masturbated by his wife, and there is no sin on him for that. But it is not permissible for him to get married without informing the woman of his sickness, because concealing it is deceit and is haraam. If he conceals it then the wife finds out, she has the right to annul the marriage. Secondly: Masturbation is haraam, as has been explained in question no. 329. But if the person who has AIDS cannot get married, and he is afraid that he may fall into zina (fornication), it is permissible for him to masturbate, so as to choose the lesser of two evils. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: With regard to ejaculating by choice, if he masturbates with his hand, this is haraam according to most of the scholars, and it is one of the two reports narrated from Ahmad, in fact it is the more correct of the two. According to another report it is makrooh, but if he is compelled to do that, such as one who fears that he may fall into zina if he does not masturbate, or he fears that he may become ill, then in this case there are two well known scholarly views and in this case a number of the earlier and later scholars granted a concession, whereas others forbade it. And Allaah knows best. End quote from al-Fataawa al-Kubra (1/302). It says in Sharh al-Muntaha (3/366): Whoever masturbates with no need, man or woman, his action is forbidden and he should be disciplined for that because it is a sin. But if he does it for fear of committing zina or homosexuality, then there is no punishment, and if he does it for fear of physical harm the same applies, and more so. But it is not permissible for a man to masturbate with his hand unless he is unable to get married, because if he is able to get married there is no need for that. And Allaah knows best. Continuation 3: INABILITY TO RETRIEVE LIFE : Being an established fact that any allowance for second chance (by returning back to the worldly life) is null and void, and that whenever the appointed term expires, one must die either young or old, thus, Islam enjoins Muslims to always be on their toes, preparing for the inevitable trip – death . Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) ,says “ Exist in this world like a stranger or a wayfarer” (Reported by Imam Al- Bukhary ( Abdullah bn ‘Umar was also used to admonish as follows, “When you wake up in the morning, do not expect (that you will be living by) evening; and when you live up to evening, expect morning not ”. I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good.”(Q63:10( In an arabic poetry it sang thus : “ Whoever escapes sword will die by other, causes may differ but death is one ” This is an overwhelming proof that no human being, righteous or mischievous, will be favored with another worldly sojourn whether by reincarnation or whatsoever type of universal existence, such as in African fallacy of rebirth or spiritual communication of dead for .revenge What an odd idea! The infidels would be bi- periodically tormented in the grave according to the following ,verse “ Certain of the desert Arabs round you are hypocrites, as well as among the Madinah folk: They are obstinate in hypocrisy: thou knoweth them not: we know them: twice shall we punish them; and in addition shall they be sent to a grievous chastisement” (Q9:101 ( This two periods of time are further analyzed : “ In front of fire will they be brought, morning and evening, and (the sentence would be) on the day when the hour comes to pass: ’cast yee the people of Pharaoh into the severe penalty ” These two mentioned verses indicate that an unrighteous soul shall always remain with rigorous torment in the grave (day and night), being penurious of reincarnation, while the righteous ones would also remain therein in tranquility till the day of Qiyaamah. This is evident in the above quoted verses, for the only periods for human existence to make his 24hrs, according to the holy Qur’an, are two not three- day and night ) with which dead would be engaged in the grave as regard to his occupied place therein . Whether one is buried, abandoned on dust and eaten by animals, deteriorated by winds or settled in the depth of river, all of these are confirmed as ‘Barzakh PLS WAIT FOR CONTINUATION, JAZAKUMULAHUKHAYRAN FOR FINDING TIME TO READ. |
Continuation: ISLAM AND DEATH Islam, the only religion accepted by God (Allah), and preached by all prophets, right from Adam to the seal of them all, Muhammed bn Abdullah (p.b.u.h), basically has six articles of faith with the fifth being the belief in “the last Day”. That is, it (Islam) preaches a life after death . Immediately the soul departs the body, the material world would be left for another eternal and abstract existence. It would then be returned to the body in the grave where man would ever remain till the day called, “last .”Day Allah says in the holy Quran , “ Blessed be He, in whose hand is dominion, and He over all things hath power. He who create death and life, that He may try which of you is best in dead.” (Q67:v1-2 ( Another scriptural verse of the glorious Quran says : “ Every soul shall have a taste of death and we test you by evil and by good by way of trial. To us must you return” (Q61:35 ( Allah says again : “ Every soul shall have a taste of death. And only on the day of judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from fire and admitted to the garden will have succeeded: for the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.” (Q3:185 ( The aforementioned verses demonstrate the indispensability of death, which shall be tasted by every soul, young or old. Therefore, in Islam, there is nothing called sudden death. Every single soul has its confined span and appointed term, and whenever its time is up, the attendance of demise is unavoidable, but only with variant form of causes which are unrestrained and illimitable to the omniscience of almighty Allah. Death is only regarded sudden and unexpected by the unbelieving persons, who do not always prepare for its emergence ( as believed by the Muslims) that it could occur anytime, anywhere and anyhow . Allah also says : “ With Him are the keys of the unseen, the treasures that none knoweth but He. He knoweth whatever there is in the earth and in the sea. Nit a leaf doth fall but with His knowledge. There is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered), but is (inscribed) in a record clear (to those who can read). (Q6:59 ”( In one of the admonitions of the prophet of Allah to Abdullah bn Abbas, he counsels , “ O you young boy, let me teach you some words: Abide by Allah, He would preserve you; comply with Him, you would meet Him ahead; whenever you request, ask from Him. Then, know that if a community of people assemble to benefit you (with anything), they cannot except from what had been preordained to you; and if they come together to harm you (in anyway), they cannot, but by what had been predestined to you. The Pens had been lifted and the sheets had dried.” (Reported by Trimidhy ( . The prophet (p.b.u.h.) then confirms that whoever dies, it’s undoubtedly time for his Qiyamah UNSUDDENESS OF ANY DEATH In orthodox Islam, it is believed that every soul is taken at right and appropriate designed time. There is no mistake in the actions of God (Allah) neither the Angels carry out any assignment in contrast with the divine protocol and commandment of Allah. Allah, the most exalted ,commends: “ O ye who believe! Save your selves and your family from a fire whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who flinch not (from executing) the commands they receive from Allah, but do (precisely) what they are commanded” (Q66v6 ( As a result, Allah, the almighty ,declares :Meaning “ If Allah were to punish men for their wrong-doing, He would not leave, on the (earth), a sing living creature: But He gives them respite for a stated term: when their term expires, they would not be able to delay (it) for a single hour, just as they would not be able to anticipate it (for a single hour)” (Q16v61 ( The above verse shows that no death is sudden or untimely but with a fixed time that will never be mistakenly executed . culled from the work of SALAUDEEN, Abdul-Hakeem Saffar “ Until Death comes to one of them, he says: ‘O my lord! Send me back (to life)- in order that I may work righteously in the thing I neglected. By no means! It is but a word he says. Before them is a partition (Bar’zakh) till they are raised up ”. ) Q: 23 V: 99-100 ( ﻢﺴﺑ ﻦﻤﺣﺮﻟﺍ ﻪﻠﻟﺍ ﻢﻴﺣﺮﻟﺍ What is“Akudaya ”? “Akudaya” is known in Yoruba socio-linguistic hypothesis as returning, transformation, or transmigration of a dead person into a living being post his untimely death . The belief in Akudaya is one of the metaphysical psychologies in Africa most especially Nigeria, and Yoruba culture as a case study. It is strongly belied in Africa, being a multi-religio- cultural society, in her polytheistic convictions on the unseen and celestial creeds that an untimely murdered person can still metaphysically transmigrate into the worldly existence. This sort of supernatural transformation is mythically conceptualized in yoruba cultural ideology as “Akudaya ” . Akudayaism (reincarnation or transmigration ideology) is not restricted to African alone, according to “Encarta Premium Suite encyclopedia (2004)”, “Reincarnation (Akudaya) and transmigration or rebirths (Abiku) of a soul in a new body (especially in a new human body) are roughly synonymous . The word ‘metamorphosis’ is not synonymous to ‘reincarnation’ and ‘transmigration’ for being the opposite. It is the transformation of a living being in to another form or substance of life (as a person into a tree); resurrection, on the other hand, especially the Islamic doctrine of resurrection, is the rising again to life of the body after death for receipt of rewards- Paradise or Hell . Transmigration, passing of the soul at death into a new body or new form of being, is not restricted to the African beliefs alone, the ancient Egyptians also believed in it. Little wonder! That is why their dead were embalmed in order to preserve the body so that it might accompany the Ka, an animating force that was the counterpart of the body, into the next world . It (transmigration) was also, in the ancient Greeks, a doctrine closely associated with the followers of the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras. The soul, according to the Pythagorean teaching, being immortal and merely confined to the body, survived bodily death. After a series of rebirths, in other bodies, each rebirth following a period of purification in the underworld, the soul becomes free eternally from the cycle of .reincarnation Soul, according to plato, is eternal, pre-existent and wholly spiritual. After entering the body, it tends to become impure through association with bodily passion; it retains, nevertheless, a minimal knowledge of former existence. Delivering from the body occurs only after the soul passes through a series of transmigration. And was maintained in its several existences, it is allowed that if the soul has had a good character in its several existences, it is allowed to return to a state of pure being. If however, its character has continually deteriorated in its transmigration, the place of eternal damnation. Mystical cabalists also adopted the idea of reincarnation as part of their system of philosophy while the Gnostics and the Manicheans bottled its wine in their doctrines . In eastern religion thought and philosophy, belief in transmigration seems not to have been parts of most ancient religious beliefs of the Ayan conquerors of India; it appears first in doctrinal form in the India religious and philosophical collection of the Upanishades. Ever since, however, Samsara (the Sanskrit term) has been one of the major tenets of the three major eastern religions: Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Thus, according to modern popular Hinduism, the state in which the soul is reborn is predetermined by the good or bad deeds (Karma) done in former incarnations; the soul of those who do evil, for instance, are reborn in lower state (such as animals, insects and the spirits of trees). Ultimately, released from Samsara and Karma is attained after atonement for bad deeds and recognition that the individual soul (atma) and the universal soul (Barhaman) are identical. Buddhism specifically rejects the existence of atma. However, its conceptualization of the cause-and-effect chain of rebirth is functionally indistinguishable from the Hindu doctrine of transmigration. Among these cultures, it is believed that reincarnation is accomplished by transmigration of the soul of a dead person to the body of an infant of the same family. With the subsequent animation of the child. Finally resemblances are traced to this process. Early Christians who adopted Gnostic and Manichaean doctrines were declared heretic by the church ”.… AFRICAN BELIEFS ON DEATH Yoruba, as one of the most densely populated ethnic groups in southern part of Nigeria (in Africa), and for being doctrinally polytheistic and religiously divergent, believe in the abstract powers in accordance to their level of spiritual understanding which is the main mystique surrounding their ordinary philosophical and metaphysical beliefs that revolve around the myth of reincarnation- Akudaya . Among many other ethnic groups in Africa, Yoruba strongly believe in life after death and in the reword/punishment of either Paradise or Hell respectively, according to the earthly métier (deeds) of the deceased. It is also believed to them that man is supernaturally empowered to terminate another person’s life, which could lead to immediate or sudden death (without euthanasia motive). They believe that most of the victims of accident, fire, deadly disease, e.t.c are subjects of sudden death and could, as a result, in fairness to them, have the grace of returning back to this material world via transformation or transmigration. When such an individual is reincarnated, he would entitle to the privilege of completing his assigned missions on earth, like marriage, procreation, accumulation of wealth e.t.c. that were suspended prior to his (untimely) death . The word ‘reincarnation’ here, spiritually meant by them, is that God would return the soul of a deceased person to his body and also accord him the privilege of a choice of any desired environment in lieu of his former .abode CHARACTERISTICS OF AKUDAYA (the reincarnated) ACCORDING TO THE AFRICANS 1 - Bipartite existence: That means an Akudaya is of either two parties (living and dead) with ability to appear and disappear within the realms of spiritual and physical kingdoms . 2 - procreation and reproduction . 3 – Nuptial contract (marital engagement) with mankind . 4 – Restraining from the vicinity of their former household . 5 - Operating in anonymity . 6 – Absolute immunity to any form of human harm . 7 – Endowment with supernatural power to protect their household . 8 – Severe revenge of their (untimely) terminated lives . 9 – pre - awareness of any forthcoming dangerous attack . 10 – Total disappearance whenever discovered or .identified All these, among many other strange characteristics, are the outcome of African philosophy which has no any substantiative proof from any heavenly revealed script, but only based on human assumption and imaginative experience that are not only erroneous but also a mythical .fallacy Philosophy could be unrealistic in most cases because, it mostly depends on unheavenly proofs. And it, according to Al-imamul Ghazaaliy, cannot guarantee the truth because it does not produce certainty; it is not of consequence of spiritual illumination of divine inspiration. Truth, as a result, can only be attained with designation of God (the omniscient) not by human effort alone to be continued inshAllah. |
Question: What is the Language of the Jinn? Answer: That which is apparent is that they are like humans, in that they have various languages. Amongst them there is the English (jinn), amongst them there is the French, amongst them there is the American and amongst them there is the non-Arab and the Arab; (there are various) races amongst them. Because Allaah has said concerning them: There are among us some that are righteous and some that are contrary; we are groups having different ways. [Soortatul-Jinn, 72: 11]. And they are upon different sects. He, Glorified be He, has said: And some of us are Muslims and some of us are Qaasitoon (disbelievers). [Sooratul-Jinn, 72:14]. So they are of different groups and sects. Amongst them there is the pure and amongst them there is the impure. Amongst them there is the Jahmee (follower of the teachings of the Jahmiyyah), amongst them there is the Sunnee (follower of the Sunnah), amongst them there is the Raafidhee (from the extreme Sheeah), amongst them there is the Christian, amongst them there is the Jew and amongst them there is other than that. (They are of) various groups and sects: ýThere are among us some that are righteous and some that are contrary; we are groups having different ways.ý [Soorautul-Jinn, 72: 11] His statement: some that are contrary is general including (all) other groups. http://www.binbaz.org.sa/mat/10420 |
For the very first time in the history of Nigeria’s participation in the FIFA World Cup finals, the Nigeria Football Federation has given Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, the free hand to determine where his wards will make home at next year’s finals. Keshi, who captained Nigeria in her very first appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals, in USA in 1994, said he cherished the opportunity by the Aminu Maigari administration and would always strive for the best for Nigeria. “I am happy to have been given the free hand to select the Team Base Camp. You may think it is a small gesture but not every Head Coach has that privilege. I am certainly going to use the opportunity to select the best for our team.” Keshi’s African champions will contend with two-time world champions Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran in Group F. All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders yesterday met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his Abuja home. The APC leaders described the over one hour meeting as a continuation of the party’s consultations with past leaders and stakeholders across the nation. The meeting came on the heels of the defection of 37 members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives to the APC. Atiku told reporters shortly after the meeting, that the discussions were very fruitful, stressing that he had always believed in the two party system. He said he welcomed the formation of the APC, adding that he would meet with his friends and political associates with the view to taking a decision on the next line of action. The former Vice President described the formation of the APC as healthy for democracy, and would give Nigerians a credible alternative in the 2015 general elections. Atiku said: “We want to let you know that we had very fruitful discussions and you know I have always believed in a two-party structure. “So I welcome the formation of APC. We have discussed extensively and I will meet with my political associates and friends. “Most of us have been friends and political associates for over two decades. I will call my stakeholders across the country. We will take a decision and address the press and let you know our decision. “I congratulated them (APC leaders) and welcomed them because it will improve competition and governance. It is healthy for our democracy. “Once you have one very strong party and weak ones, there is no way the opposition can check the government in power. “If the South Africans faced Apartheid in the past, Nigeria is facing colonialism. The struggle has been long for the enthronement of democracy in our country. “It is time we realised we have responsibility to our generation and those yet unborn. I think it (APC) will give Nigerians an alternative during elections. So, I told them I will consult with my associates and brief the press later.” APC Interim National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, who led the delegation, said the visit was to cement a long standing political relationship with Atiku, spanning more than two decades. Akande had, in an earlier remark, said the party decided to meet Atiku against the background of the country being rubbished by the leadership at the centre. “We feel that it is necessary to meet people of like minds to rise up and salvage the country. All of us that met here were comrades in politics. “We only met today to cement that comradeship and all is well cemented. We are moving together to work for this country,” Akande said. Former military Head of State Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, said the party leaders would also meet with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Buhari said: “We have been visiting others like the G7 governors and we have visited all former Heads of State. “We intend to visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo when he is available to ask for his understanding and brief him on why we formed the APC.” The APC leaders who visited Atiku include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima; Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Senate Minority Leader, George Akume. Others are: Former House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Bello Masari; former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Nuhu Ribadu. Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, Senator Kabiru Gaya and Senator Suleiman Nazif were also on the delegation. Nigerianeye

Being able to reach that top shelf without standing on the stool would have been so good! Height is an essential factor which determines the overall personality of an individual. Though being short does not in any way undermine an individual’s capabilities, it’s a fact that tall people often become the centre of attention. Short statured people not only suffer from lack of confidence, but also face certain difficulties in some aspects of their lives. Various professions (such as modelling, acting etc) demand that you have a good height. Typically a child who is short often becomes the victim of bullying in his/her school, loses a place in the basketball team or even misses being nominated as the monitor of the class. It is rather unfortunate that even a fairly good looking or talented individual is likely to get ignored if he or she does not possess the normal height. What can we do to get better and ahead if height isn’t in our favour? Let’s checkout the factors affecting height first and then see how to increase height naturally. Factors Affecting Height: Being tall isn’t in our control, is it? Only partly true! Genetic and Non-Genetic factors have a major role in determining our height. Our body height is regulated by the hormone called “Human Growth Hormone [HGH)”. HGH is secreted in our body by pituitary gland and is required for the growth of long bones and cartilages 1. Genetic Factors: Height is influenced by various genes in our body. If both our parents are short, it does not mean we won’t be tall. Tall parents can have short children and vice versa. However, if most of the members of our family from both sides are of short stature, then the next generations are most likely to have short height. Genetic factors are entirely beyond our control. 2. Non Genetic Factors: There are several non-genetic factors that influence our height to an extent. Being tall is associated with growth and therefore a short height can be attributed to inadequate nutrition for proper growth, lack of physical activity, incorrect posture , etc. Certain other non-genetic factors which may affect height include: Maternal smoking during pregnancy, Prenatal and Post natal care Ill health during childhood and adolescence Birth weight Mental condition during childhood and adolescence Non-genetic factors can be controlled to an extent by following an overallhealthy lifestyle from childhood. How to Increase Height Naturally? About 20% or more of our body height depends upon our environment, activities and diet. Thus, we can increase our height in a natural way by following certain basic rules in our daily lives. 1. Proper Sleep: It’s a well-known fact that our body grows and regenerates tissue while we rest. Proper sleep and rest are absolutely essential in a growing body. It’s believed that the Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is produced naturally in our bodies during sound, deep and slow wave sleep. Growing children and teenagers should have at least 8 to 11 hours of proper sleep every night in order to reach their maximum height. Taking a warm water bath before going to bed can greatly enhance the quality of sleep. This is a definitely the top answer to how to grow height naturally. 2. Regular Exercise and Sports: One of the best ways to increase height naturally is being physically fit and active as a child. Regular exercise and sports activity enhances height. When you are physically active, your body demands more healthy nutrients and consequently, increase in nutrient intake results in proper growth. Indulging in sports activities like swimming, aerobics, tennis, cricket, football, basketball or number of stretching exercises are a good way to keep our body growing. Our muscles improve our growth prospects besides clean- sing and detoxifying our body through sweating. Regular exercise or sports should definitely form a part of our daily activities. 3. Yoga: Yoga is a great and comparatively less strenuous way to increase height naturally. Certain yoga poses facilitate the release of growth inducing hormones in the body. The stretching exercises involved in yoga strengthen the muscles and improve the posture of the body as well. [ Read: Yoga Streching Exercises ] 4. Maintaining Correct Posture: Due attention should be given towards maintaining a correct posture from childhood. Simple things like sitting straight in a chair, keeping your shoulders straight, chin high, and hips over your feet while walking or standing can actually have favourable effects on your height. A straight spine and a strong back are very vital in increasing your height. Having a good pillow and a body friendly mattress are equally important in keeping your spine comfortable. It should be noted that your shoulders should not stoop while walking or standing. A good posture makes you look tall, smart and confident. 5. Balanced Diet: A balanced diet is absolutely essential to get proper nutrition. Stay away from junk food at any cost. It should be ensured that you get all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs, to grow to your full height. Vitamin D and proteins help in triggering the growth hormones and are required for proper growth of teeth and bones. Hence, the foods which are rich in these nutrients such as cheese, legumes, tofu, lean meat, egg white should be included in your diet. Intake of zinc is also very important as this deficiency can lead to stunted growth in children. Foods such as asparagus, chocolate, eggs, oysters and peanuts are rich in zinc. Calcium found in dairy products and green vegetables is required for the growth and development of bones. Apart from this, other nutrients like minerals, carbohydrates and vitamins should not be ignored as they also contribute towards proper growth of the body. The nutritional requirements can also be fulfilled by taking supplements in limited quantities. [ Read: Diet To Increase height} 6. Avoid Growth Stunting factors: Taking drugs and alcohol at a young age can be extremely harmful. Consuming these can lead to stunted growth and malnutrition, thus preventing you from reaching your full height. The intake of caffeine should be restricted, particularly among children as it keeps you from sleeping soundly and regularly. Apart from this, steroids have also been found to inhibit bone growth in young children, adversely affecting their height. 7. Strong Immune System: Certain childhood illnesses can also cause stunted growth. These can be avoided by regular immunization and taking plenty of vitamin C which is found in citrus fruits like orange, grapefruit and lemon. The immune system can be kept strong by eating whole and fresh foods and avoiding processed and hydrogenated foods such as margarine. Incorporate lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and foods rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet to maintain a healthy immune system. Don’t wait any longer, start doing a bit from now on to keep your body growing! Leave me a suggestion if you have one to help me add a couple of inches more!! |
Two groups working for President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday called for the immediate arrest of former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his letter to the President alleging some irregularities in government. The groups, PDP Reloaded and Arise Nigeria, alleged that majority of the issues raised by Obasanjo in his letter happened during his regime both as military head of state and as civilian President. Leaders of the two groups, Chief Richard Lamai (PDP Reloaded) and Chief Jasper Johnson (Arise Nigeria), who spoke at a press briefing in Abuja, also extolled the leadership qualities of Jonathan. They wondered why Obasanjo could resort to writing letters when he could call the President or visit him at any time. Both men alleged that Obasanjo had supplanted the nomination of the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi with that of Mr. Celestine Omehia and also disobeyed the Supreme Court ruling which they said favoured Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume in Imo State during his regime. They said that Obasanjo must have the list of the alleged 1000 listed for elimination by the Federal Government in preparation for the 2015 general elections and that because of this, he should be invited by the security agencies. The statement said, “It is in this regard that we call on the nation’s security agencies to invite Obasanjo to help them unravel the mystery camp where the snipers are being trained and the list of those earmarked for elimination. “We would not want a situation where the ‘witch cried at night and the child died in the day.’ “Therefore Nigerians are hereby called to be very vigilant in the coming days and be ready to defend their hard earned democracy as the worst democracy is better than the best military dictatorship.” Lamai and Johnson recalled that there were several other unresolved murders in the country. Among those listed were the inability of the government to apprehend the killings of the former Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige; a former PDP governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Chief Funsho Williams and others. They said it was wrong for Obasanjo to ask Jonathan to use a different tactics to stop the Boko Haram insurgent in the country adding that the story of Odi and Zakinthos Biam where his administration ordered the security agencies to descend on the two towns after the killings of security men should not be emulated by Jonathan. Asked whether it would not be better for the President to address issues raised in Obasanjo’s letter instead of castigating the former President, the two men said that most of the points were baseless. What do Muslims believe about reincarnation? In general, the past-life regression business hasn't got much of a future in Muslim territories. Islam has no place for returning in the form of another person after dying. There is no leeway in this teaching. Islam teaches that the purpose of each life is to encounter Allah--or God--and that no matter how limited the life, it is sufficient to determine that person's ultimate destiny-- paradise or perdition. Islam clearly defines the soul as part of each specially-created individual and holds that nothing can change that. The soul cannot be detached and move on to another body; it cannot engage in upward or downward mobility in the chain of creation; elements of it, such as memory, cannot be transplanted into someone in a later generation. |
