Welcome to another day,it's a chance to become better than you were yesterday.
In our bible reading today, the fig tree was given just one more chance,after the tree had been planted for three years without producing any fruit.

Even though this was planted on good soil,and in a vineyard, a gardener was also employed to cultivate it.
By employing a gardener, it means the owner was paying salary to the gardener yet there was no fruit for three years.

What if you are that tree? What if the Lord is giving you another chance so that you can bear fruit?
Are you bearing fruits or leaves? What kind of fruit are you bearing?

If your desire is to bear fruit,the bible says you must " *abide in him*" not " *abide in the world*"

Remember you were spared so that you can make a difference,don't take it for granted.

SEEING JESUS PT 1.

When you see Jesus, you will be able to see yourself more clearly and deeply.
Jesus is the mirror through which you see yourself for who you really are.

I have often explained to those in our parish,that when you see Jesus you are likely to see how dirty and unclean you are.

Even though a lot of believers have calendars of Jesus with a beard and handsome face at home,but our bible passage reveals the contrary.

In Rev 1 vs 14-15, "his hairs was described as white as wool, and his eyes were like a flame of fire".
"His feet was like unto fine brass,as if they burned in a furnace, and his voice as the sound of many waters".
From Rev 1 vs 16, "out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword and his countenance was as the sun shining in his strength".

Although John used to sleep on his chest when he was in the flesh(John 13 vs 23), but in Rev 1 vs 17, when he saw him he fell at his feet like a dead man, because he saw his personality.

Likewise when Peter saw him(Luke 5 vs and Paul as well (Act 9 vs 4) they all fell before him.
Have you seen Jesus? Do you know him? Do you want to see him? If you want to see him, please ensure your heart is pure(Mathew 5 vs and you must follow peace with all men(Heb 12 vs 14).

*A BURNING AND SHINING LIGHT*?

*Text :- Act 8 vs 4-8*.

" _Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word_":- Act 8 vs 4

In Psalms 119:130, the bible says " *the entrance of thy words gives light, and understanding to the foolish, ignorant, and those in darkness*". Emphasis mine

However the intensity of the light in the vessel, will determine the territory it can influence.

For example, in our bible reading in Act 8 vs 4-8, Phillip alone went down to the city of Samaria and as he preached the word of God to them.

Even unclean spirits couldn't withstand the intensity of light because it was BURNING and pure.
Therefore they cried out in agony and frustration, until there was joy in the whole city.

Likewise John the Baptist was described by Jesus Christ as a burning and shining light.

*John 5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light*.

What an amazing testimony coming from the Master himself!!!

Is your light increasing in intensity or diminishing?
Can your light drive out demons?
Is your light shining through Facebook, WhatsApp,Instagram ? Can your light burn sickness and disease?

It means to go beyond a certain limit that has been set for others.

The word “ *excel*” is translated as “ *super-abundance*” in some translations.
It is the same word used for life “ *more abundantly*” in John 10:10, “ *I am come that they might have life… more abundantly*”.

It could also mean to do something better than others, especially in your field or career. It could be to be better than others, especially your contemporaries.

For example, in *Daniel 1:20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm*.

Excellence is a spirit,so is mediocrity. Mediocre are usually under the spell of non-achievement.
This year ensure that you are not captured by the "spirit of thou shall not excel" like Reuben who was destined to excel but due to indiscipline he went and defiled his father's bed.

Indeed we ought to be grateful to God, for choosing us in him right before the foundation of the world, despite the fact that he had many others he could have choosen.

Indeed we are special and precious,therefore we should be grateful, because "no man can come to the father except he draws him near".

It is a known fact that except God chose a man, he couldn't have choosen God on his own, therefore we must show appreciation to our maker.

From several passages of the bible we can see clearly he chose us when we were valueless and useless. So he chose us

1). When we were sinners :
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2). When we were ungodly :-
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

3). When we were without hope:-
Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

4). When we were without strength :
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

5). Before the foundation of the world :

Indeed it was a risky choice, because i would never have chosen a sinner, ungodly,weak person as my friend and that is why we must appreciate him.

That is what the withdrawal of light causes in any society. It still baffles me when 14,000 has been closed down in one year.

Without any doubt we need the mercy of God to prevail over his justice on daily basis, especially in a country like where there is constant bloodshed,ritual killings, corruption, kidnapping and harsh economy.

Therefore we must ask for it on a daily basis, just as a new born baby makes demand for fresh milk from the mothers breast everyday.

Just as the milk from the mothers breast is always fresh and will meet all the needs of that baby likewise the mercy of God can spare us especially when he is declaring judgement on others.

*Lam 3:22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not*.
*3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness*.

Is the situation in the country unbearable and you want to JAPA to another Nation? Then all you need is mercy.

Is your salary too small to meet your needs? Then all you need is mercy.

Are your expenditures greater than your income? Then all you need is mercy.

Are you fighting battles you don't understand? Then all you need is mercy.

Do you find it difficult to sleep,when others are having sound sleep?
Then all you need is mercy.

Are you thinking of committing suicide, because of you are depressed? Don't ,all you need is mercy.

Has your State been flooded with waters? All you need to cry for is mercy.

It was the mercy of God, that spare Lot and his children when God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

Likewise it was the mercy of God, that ensured that David didn't loose a single battle as a Warrior.

Do you need mercy? Do you want him to spare you when he is judgement on the Land. Then do the following.

1). Confess your sins :
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.


2). Show mercy to others :
Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

3). Fear God :
Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Beloveth if you can do those three things,the mercy of God will always prevail over your case.

Despite the fact that you started small this year, you can end it big.
You can even end it bigger than you can imagine because the word of God says so.

*Job 8:7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase*.

In our bible reading in Esther 2 vs 15-17, Esther started as an single,double orphan, and a slave in a strange land but she eventually made it before the end of that year. Do you know you can make it? Do you know that God can still settle you?
So don't give up, don't be discouraged, there are still two months left in the year.

*Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit*.

In the tenth month out of 127 maidens that were contesting to be Queen, the crown was set on Esther's head.
Beloveth your own crown is coming sooner than you expect and the whole world will see that glory.

The art of praying for others is called intercession, even though we might have our own challenges and problems yet we must learn to pray for others.

Each time we intercede for others,it is a seed for divine intervention that will later put an end to our afflictions.

*Mathew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets*.

Furthermore each time we plead for mercy for others ,our own mess will disappear.

For example in Job 42 vs 10, when job made others his focus his own pain disappear,his captivity was turned around and there was a double fold restoration of all he had lost.

Do you often pray for others? How often do you stand in the gap for your leaders, friends and neighbors?

1) Pray for others who are having the same challenges you are facing today.

Contrary to that which you claim, Jesus Christ instead taught that His love exists only for those who obey His teachings and commandments.
Not even once, throughout all of His teachings, did He proclaim love for all in the world. So, why do you tell people that Jesus Christ loves them when clearly His love is only reserved for those who obey His teachings and commandments?

From the three verses below, it is clearly stated without ambiguity, that he died for the whole world even before you were born and irresepective of the color of your skin .

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

THE PURPOSE OF LIFE PT 3.

In our previous devotional we have been learning about the purpose of life. As we continue may the Lord teach us in Jesus name.

One of the erroneous quotes about life that has obviously affected our youth is that "Life is a game" .
The advent of computer games has made many of our youths to have these belief, because in most games when the character losses his life he is usually given another life.
This in itself is an illusion, because the word of God portrays a different opinion.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

For our life to be purposeful and impactful it begins by allowing Christ to live through us by denying the flesh.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Beloveth life is not a game, it is rather an opportunity use it wisely by allowing Christ to live through you.

The purpose of your life is not death, as you can see in the verse below.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

From the above life is a choice ,

What will now happen after your career? The purpose of life is more than any career, because your career will never guarantee you eternal life.

Life is a gift from God,when we give it back to him it shows we are wise and not foolish.

As a parent i have often given my little two year old son a little bread, after a while i would ask him to give me in return, and guess what he refused.

That is how some of us behave, only thinking about Self alone, and the greatest problem of any individual, Nation, and Society are those who think of Self.

An average civil servant uses thirty five years to serve the government or a Company and what will reward do they offer in return. But if you use your life to serve God's purpose, there will be reward for you in eternity. Be wise

As a pastor, in the past, I’ve gotten to be a part of some of the best and worst times of people’s lives. And many often ask the following questions.

Why am I here? What is life all about? What is the meaning of life?
*What is the meaning of life according to the Bible*? Our God is purposeful, and doesn't do anything without having a plan.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Even when you were still in the womb( Jer 1 vs 5), he already has a purpose for your life just as a manufacturer has a purpose for what he is creating. However,for a product to discover his purpose he must go back to the manufacturer.
1). The purpose of life is to know God.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

However without knowing Christ, there is no way anyone can know God, because Jesus is the way to the father.
The purpose of life is not for eating,playing,or acquisitions cars and property but to be a blessing to others.
Your life is a gift, from God which ought to be used for his pleasure (Rev 4 vs 11).
Have you discovered the purpose of God for your life?

Secondly the purpose of life is to fear God, the bible calls it the whole duty of man.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

The word Duty simply a task that has been given to you that must be done on a daily basis.


Thirdly the purpose of life is not for acquiring possession.
*Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth*.

In conclusion living for Christ will bring fulfillment and joy to our hearts.


*2 Corinthians 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again*.

From the above verse anyone who doesn't live for Christ will eventually lose his life in eternity.

Mathew 10 vs 39: " *Whoever finds his life* *[in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], and whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity*]".

I hope we are learning, no ritual or human sacrifice ... We must abolish such evil traditions in Nigeria.

Don't give because your breakthrough is around the corner. The bible says in Psalms 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

But you must confess and forsake your sin so that God can help you.
Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you

Sin always hinders our breakthrough, it always turn good things away, the only solution is to ask for Mercy. Anyone who ask for Mercy will surely be given.

Proverb 28 vs 13: You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins.....

Ask for Mercy and it will surprise you,the way God will surprise you.

" _Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power_..." :- Heb 1 vs 3

An image is a person or thing that closely resembles another . It could also mean a "carbon copy", " look- alike", "clone" .

Even though man was created in the image of God(Gen 1 vs 27),they were not the express image of God only Jesus is the express image of the father.


After Adam and Eve sinned the bible records, that he gave birth to a son in his own image and not the image of God(Gen 5 vs 3). What a tragedy!!!

The word image means a person strikingly like another person,only Jesus is the express image.

From our bible reading in John 14 vs 8, " Phillip said show us the father" and the reply Jesus gave him was astounding.

Look at the reply in John 14 vs 9, ..."he that seen me hath seen the father". Do you want to see the father ? Come to Jesus and he will show you.

Enoch was the first person to walk with God after the fall of Adam, his forefather.

When Enoch began to walk with the Lord ,Adam was still alive because as at that time men usually live long.

For Enoch to walk with God,he must have denied himself of so many things such as friends, family and the love of this world. God is still looking for men that will walk with him, in this generation.

Will you be one of them? He is calling you today,for a closer walk with him. Are you ready?

If yes,then you must get rid of sin,by asking him to forgive you because it was sin that stopped the relationship between God and Adam.

In Hab 1 vs 13, says his eyes cannot behold iniquity,while in Isa 59 vs 1, informed us that sin will shorten his hand, and make his ear heavy.

In Isa 59 vs 2, tells us that sin will separate anyone from him, except you confess and repent (Prov 28 vs 13).

*Text. : Gen 6 vs 11*.

"_The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth_":- Psalm 11 vs 5


Violence is a global phenomenon resulting in the deaths of more than 1.6 million people each year, making it one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

Although we no violence is evil, but we enjoy watching it in movies, television shows and we live in a world where power is established through violence.

Our memory verse remind us that God hates violence in any form, whether it is marital, physical, emotional,or political.

*Prov 3 vs 31(NLT) : "Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways*".

*Exodus 23 vs 2: “You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice*".

Don't join multitude to do evil, reject violence,bribery and corruption today.

Focus simply means not to be distracted from your goals and objectives either for particular season or time(Phil 3 vs 13).
And It often occur as a result of division internally or within usually as a result of distraction.
It also means to avoid distraction as your pursue your goals and vision so as to fulfill destiny.

_1 Corinthians 7:35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction_.

Distraction is a potent weapon in the hands of the to stop us from reaching our goals,and it usually comes in a subtile way.

It could be through children,marriage, finances, environment,social media,etc

Focus could be achieved,when our heart is fixed on God like David said in the verse below.

_Psalms 57 : 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise_.

Beloved when we are not focused on God, he could be at our right hand and we won't even see him, not because he is minute or small but because we lack focus.

Even though they were many children in Babylon, but those who will stand before the king must meet some certain criteria, after they would have been trained for three years.

If standing before an earthly king is this difficult, how long and hard will it be for an individual that desire to stand before the king of Kings.

The first criteria is something we should study clearly and study diligently. The word is "no blemish" .

A blemish is simply the presence of fault, reproach,error in an individual.

Oftentimes it could be overlooked by men,but the king of Kings might not overlook such.

The only blemish in the life of Moses was anger,and it hindered him from getting to the promised Land(Deut 34 vs 1-4). He saw the promised land, but he never got there.

_Ecclesiastes 7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools_.

1). Refrain from anger today.


*Prayer point* :
1). Father please remove every blemish in my life today in Jesus name.

Remind her that anger rest in the bosom of a fool(Eccl 7 vs 9), and the thought of foolishness often lead to sin.

Anger is an emotion, and it can be controlled because anything without control will destroy anything around it.

Without controlling our anger we will become a useful tool in the hands of the enemy. Since it's an act of foolishness, we must cultivate the habit of putting our anger under control. Lest the devil gets advantage over our life, marriage, relationship etc.

In conclusion, pray for her because anyone who get angry often the devil doesn't need to pursue her she will most likely use her mouth to destroy herself.

I write, study, and pray.

Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

If you don't stop you can never fail.

Whatever your hands find do it with all your might.

In all labour there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads towards penury.

One vital fact that is obvious from our memory verse is that, there is no foolish person that will make it to the kingdom of God.

Foolishness is often demonstrated in our conduct when we know the wise thing to do and we fail to do it.
The bible records that the thought of foolishness is sin(Prov 24 vs 9).
So cast down every foolish thought in your heart and be wise.

In our bible reading, a foolish thought came to the mind of Gehazi, and he obeyed that thought by running after Naman to collect the gift that his master had rejected. Whereas if he had behaved wisely ,he would probably have gotten a double portion of the spirit that was upon Elisha.

_Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise_.


One noticeable fact about fools is that, there ways always seems best in their own eyes instead of asking for counsel or guidance.

For every temptation we have face in our journey to the promised land. There are usually so many ways of escape,that are usually not visible to the physical eye.

However through prayer and patience in the face of tribulations,God will always come through for us especially when he discovers that we can no longer bear it.

In Dan 3 vs 23-30, the three Hebrew boys were given an opportunity to deny their God,yet they stood firm and unwavering in face of trial because they know their God.

And because they were faithful,before they landed in the fire ,the fourth man in the fiery furnace was already waiting for them.

Are you passing through fire? Does the flood of life and challenge seems to sweep you away? Are you constantly being tempted with sin or examination malpractice or masturbation. Just wait for God, and he will make a way of escape.

Never deny God, but declare to that situation that he who has promised will never fail you.

The word of God is so vital to our spiritual growth, without feeding on it adequately. It could lead to spiritual malnutrition or spiritual kwashiorkor.

Kwashiorkor is a serious condition that can happen when a person does not consume enough protein. Severe protein deficiency can lead to fluid retention, which can make the stomach look bloated.

As protein deprivation continues the individual will have growth failure,loss of muscle mass,generalized swelling (edema) and decreased immunity.

_1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby_.

Eating the word of God,will make you grow spiritually and we'll nourished especially with prayers and fasting.
