Paul Merson has passed a vote of confidence in Manchester United, ahead of their visit to the Turf Morr Park on Sunday. Burnley were knockout of the Europa league in the week by Greek club Olympiakos. Their involvement in European activity have seen them struggle in domestic games.

Merson believes that stubborn Burnley will provide a lot of problems for Manchester United but backs the Red Devils to edge them out. He told Sky Sports: “Burnley’s form is all over the place. Manchester United will bounce back, I didn’t think played as badly on Monday night as a 3-0 defeat might suggest”. “At times they were good but to keep that up from the first 30 minutes was always going to be hard work when you’re not used to doing it”. “It’s not really the game either team want, Burnley will get the ball forward early and make it hard”. “It’s a tough game, but I expect Jose Mourinho to get it right.”

Manchester United have been plagued with both on and off the pitch crises with the supporter given Ed Woodward a vote of no confidence following their 3-0 hammering by Spurs on Monday. Mourinho have not been off the crises as his statements and comments have fuelled intense speculations.

 Merson however expressed concerned for Burnley who are struggling for form. Merson said: “I worry for Burnley, I thought they’d be down there, and they haven’t really bought anyone and they’re not going to get some of the results they got last year.”

Kurt Zouma has stated that he would return to Chelsea when his loan term with Everton expires next June to fight for his place at the club.

Kurt Zouma was a constant performer under Jose Mourinho until his injury in the game against Manchester United in 2016. The central defender have been deemed surplus to requirement since his return from injury in 2017 as he was sent on loan to Stoke City.

Zouma joined Everton on a loan deal late on the transfer deadline day, but the 23yr old perceives the move as a development into a mainstay in the Blues back four. The player in his interview with Metro said: “I will go back, yes”. “I have always believed in myself since I started playing (professional) football at 16”. “I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there.”

The French player joined the Blues in 2014 in a fee valued at £12 million pounds from Saint Etienne but was loaned back to the club. The player seems to have broken into Chelsea starting team in 2015 but injuries hampered his season.

Zouma is hoping to impress at Everton to convince Sarri of his quality and contribution. He said: “I know my injuries stopped me in the way I wanted to play but injuries are part of football and I want to show people I can come back and play there.”

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has stated that Loftus-Cheek must improve to the stand of Sarriball for him to break into his squad. The England international have only featured for 22 minutes for the Blues in the current season.

The World cup star moved for a loan move but was rebuffed by the Chelsea boss and stands to struggle for the game-time. When asked about Loftus-Cheek fate with the club, Sarri did not mince words.

“Because he has to improve, just in order to play my football,' the Chelsea coach said”. “He has great qualities from a physical point of view, and technical point of view. I think he needs to improve from the tactical point of view, nothing else”. “I think that he will be important for sure. A two-man advance party of the Nigeria football federation, led by the Director of Competitions, Mr Ayobala Oyeyode, set to leave for the capital city of Seychelles this weekend for next week’s 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying round of matches.

The advance party has been mandated to engage with the officials of the Seychelles Football Federation on all matter of logistics regarding the accommodation and hospitality of the Super Eagles ahead of the match.

Official in the interview with thenff.com stated that accommodation, feeding, local transportation, training pitch and security would be addressed. The team will also access the match venue and gate fee details before disseminating information to the Nigerian technical crew.

Nigerian based members of the Super Eagles’ technical crew and the backroom staff will leave the country by Sunday, to prepare for the players expected to arrive on Monday. Shot-stopper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will depart with the crew from Abuja.

The Seychelles Football Federation has already scheduled the Group E, Matchday 2 game to hold at the Stade Linite in Victoria, which is capital and also within the island of Mahe, one of the main islands in the 115 islands of Seychelles. The Match start by 4.30pm Seychelles time (1.30pm Nigeria time) on Saturday, 8th September.

Eden Hazard admitted that he is working on achieving full fitness after Chelsea defeated Newcastle 2-1 on Sunday.

The Belgian international made his first starting lineup appearance of the 2018/2019 football season on Sunday and made it count. Genort Rohr has turned attention to Swiss-born shot-stopper Sebastine Osigwe as he searches for a top class keeper for the Super Eagles.

Rohr was forced to make Uzoho his goalkeeper for the 2018 World cup after first choice Karl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukemia in July 2017. The 32yr old Wolves goalkeeper eventually made his bow from football last month.

Rohr, who offered the retired shot-stopper a role in his coaching staff, have reportedly discovered SC Kriens star Osigwe as the man suitable to create competition with Uzoho for the role.

Osigwe despite playing in a minor league on the European continent seems to have caught the eye of the Super Eagle’s coach. Reports have it that Rohr considered inviting him for action in friendly games prior to the World cup.

Rohr, who has succeeded in drafting foreign based players such as Tyronne Ebuehi, Bryan Idowu and Ola Aina to the Nigerian team have promised to provide more opportunity for Nigeria-born players abroad.

It is believed that the manager lacks faith in Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi though the duo made it to the last edition of the World cup. Ikechukwu Ezenwa was presume to take over Karl Ikeme after an impressive outing in the qualifying game against Cameroun. Ezenwa lost his spot after Elche loanee Uzoho replaced him in the 4-2 victory over Argentine in the friendly game.

Rohr confirmed to the media on Friday that he was monitoring the Switzerland junior international.

“Uzoho is our number one keeper and we have Ezenwa and Akpeyi but we are monitoring more keepers,” he said. “We are monitoring the keeper in Switzerland (Osigwe) and some other young keepers.” He added, “Uzoho is a good young keeper and people have said a lot of positive things about him. “I’m happy that he has left Deportivo La Coruna for Elche.”

The home team which deployed negative football tactics were able to hold the Blues for over 76 minutes until Eden Hazard opened the scoring. The Blues were pegged back as Joselu levelled the games, and had to dig deep to secure a victory in the game as a DeAndre Yedlin’s own goal three minutes from time settled the game.

Chelsea legend Ruud Gulit however, was not impressed with the club’s performance. As a pundit on the match of the day, he gave reasons why the London club struggled and why he pity Morata.

“They had 80 per cent possession but they didn't do anything with it,” said Gullit. “I didn't think they played that well and one of the reasons was the way they used the ball”. “They all wanted to play through the center of the pitch and it was so easy for Newcastle to defend”. “They couldn't find any space. Azpilicueta should have used the width of the pitch more but he was scared to”. “And it happened the whole time. 80 per cent possession! “Get the ball out to the wing and get a good cross in”.

Morata was substituted 20 minutes in the second interval after just 20 touches of the ball. “Morata, I feel sorry for him because with this type of possession you can't score goals,” Gullit added. “They needed to stretch the opposition by having players high up the pitch which they eventually realized”. “All of a sudden they started getting good crosses in but by that point Morata had been taken off”.

Chelsea currently remains on nine points with Liverpool and Watford.

Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso was involved in the two goals, with the Spaniard getting a penalty kick for the blues, while having his shot deflected in the 87th minute to ensure Chelsea leaves Saint James Park with all three points. While the winning goal have been judged to be an own goal from Yedlin, Alonso have laid claim to the goal.

Hazard who made his first start of the season for the Blues, also responded to the media. He said: “Everyone was thinking to draw when they scored but we are Chelsea and we never give up”. “We did well, created a lot of chances and we deserved to win. I feel tired tonight, but the whole team is tired but we have the points”.

Alonso in his post-match interview with Sky Sports said: “If the ball goes in the direction of the goal maybe it is mine,” The Left back was also involved in the first goal after Schar brought him down inside the box. The camera replay showed that Newcastle player had a slight contact with the ball before getting him.

Alonso however believes that the referee’s decision to award a penalty was correct. He said: “I think I touched the ball and got in front of the opponent. It's not that I felt the contact and went down, he made me”.

Super Eagle’s coach Genort Rohr has urged Victor Moses to reconsider his retirement decision ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations showpiece.

Moses surprised football supporters with his shock retirement announcement with focus on his club career as his reason. Rohr however is hoping that the AFCON brings back the spark for the Chelsea player to make a U-turn on his decision.

Genort Rohr in his interview with the media said: “We spoke already and I hope that his decision is not definitive”. “I think it depends on his motivation. If he really wants to commit himself again, he is welcome”. “Maybe the chance to win the AFCON is motivation. We will see.”

Victor Moses have established himself as a consistent player for the Nigerian national team since his arrival in 2012.
