Around the turn of the nineteenth century, a Russian physician named Ivan Pavlov won a Nobel Prize for his experiments with dogs. All of them had one thing in common—they salivated around food. But Pavlov wanted to find out if salivation could be caused by another stimulus, so he conditioned the dogs by ringing a bell before feeding them.

Eventually the dinner bell caused salivation, even if the food wasn’t served. Pavlov referred to this learned relationship as a conditioned reflex. We have all been consciously or subconsciously conditioned our entire lives. Much of our behaviour was dictated by those conditioned reflexes. Some conditioned reflexes are as normal and natural as a blush. Others are as destructive as drinking to drown your sorrows. But conscious or subconscious, harmless or harmful, one thing is certain: we are far more conditioned than we realise. And one dimension of our spiritual growth is being reconditioned by the grace of God. Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said…But I say to you.” Jesus uses this couplet repeatedly. What was He doing? He was uninstalling Old Testament applications and reinstalling New Testament truths. It was no longer “An eye for an eye.” Jesus upgraded it to “Turn to them the other cheek,” which required reconditioned reflexes (See Matthew 5:38-39 NIV). Sometimes it’s much easier to act like a Christian than to react like one. How does this change in our reactions take place? By the Holy Spirit. “We are being changed to be like him [Jesus]. This change…comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18 NCV).

One question many Christians sincerely ask is:
"Why does it seem that whenever I become serious with God, spiritual attacks increase?"

This is an important question, but it also requires a balanced biblical answer.

The Bible does not teach that every difficulty after drawing closer to God is a direct attack from demons. Some challenges are spiritual warfare, some are part of God's refining process, while others are simply the realities of living in a fallen world.

Let's consider Jesus Christ.
Immediately after His baptism, God declared:
"This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17)
What happened next?
The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness, where He was tempted by Satan (Matthew 4:1–11).
Notice something remarkable:
God's approval came before the wilderness.
The wilderness was not evidence that God had abandoned Jesus. It was part of preparing Him for His public ministry.

The New Testament uses the Greek word πειρασμός (Peirasmos), meaning trial, testing, or temptation.
The same situation can have two different purposes:
God allows trials to strengthen our faith.
Satan seeks to use temptation to lead us into sin.

Another important Greek word is δόκιμος (Dokimos), meaning approved after testing.
Just as gold becomes purer through fire, genuine faith becomes stronger through perseverance.

This pattern appears throughout Scripture:
Joseph received dreams before prison.
David was anointed before becoming king.
Daniel entered the lions' den before witnessing God's deliverance.
Paul experienced persecution after receiving great revelations.
Jesus carried the Cross before wearing the Crown.
Even nature teaches this principle.
The eagle rises higher because of strong winds.
The cedar tree develops deeper roots during storms.
Stars shine brightest in the darkest night.
Sometimes the pressure you're experiencing is not a sign that God has left you.
It may be a sign that God is preparing you for greater purpose.

James 4:7 gives us the proper order:
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Notice that submission comes before resistance.
Victory begins with intimacy with God.

Your obedience to God's Word.

Jesus who told Peter to forgive someone seventy times seven times would very likely not be burning his father's creation in an incinerator for eternity for fewer sins than that. Thankfully, brimstone and fire God handed authority to meek and gentle and forgiving Jesus whom I guess will get to decide.

I've not found that most Christians believers mix logic with faith, and in fact find most definitely don't link faith with works. If they did they wouldn't be praying for their daily bread but would otherwise work for it with all their hearts and souls and minds and beings and moreso with the sweat off their own brow. But I'll set that aside for now.

My life principle is to love others, period. I do not measure my love for others by how much I love myself, because others might require more love from me than I love myself. Nor do I not expect others to love me because I love them, because the fact I love them does not oblige them to love me in return. In fact, I've found people I love can choose to hate me and there's nothing I can do about it but love them even more.

As for doing, no, I do not "Do to others what you expect them to do unto you". I do onto you what is right and proper, period, with no expectation that my doing would be rewarded with equal doing from you. And my forgiveness of those who trespass against me does not guarantee they will forgive my trespasses against them, and nor should I expect they would as if it is some right I have earned or owed.

Hope this makes sense, though you might disagree.

Jesus modified these ten commandments into two commandments in the New Testament . Jesus said:
1. Love your God with all your heart
and soul.

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

This is found in the Gospel of Mathew Chapter 22. Verses 37-39.



Chapter 22.

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.




Does all morality come from the 10 commandments and the subsequent paraphrasing by our Lord Jesus Christ? I sincerely believe it does. The 10 commandments are the basis of all forms of morality and moral justice.
Love God with all your heart and do onto your neighbor as you will have them do onto you.

God is setting out the basis and terms by which he will love and protect his people.
It is a terms for an agreement. Once you agree to these terms you will come under the broad love and protection of God Almighty. These are very simple moral codes to follow.
The terms set out in the beginning of the ten commandments are a miniscule price to pay to attain eternal life,don't you agree?

I am an atheist, and I care quite a lot about peoples' religions because their religion is very pervasive in the society that I live in.

I mean, imagine a society with an ideology of being that naked enslaved ignorant Adam who fears knowledge, and not recognising how Eve freed him so he can be self employed to populate the earth, or not understanding what it means to be the Image of the Gods who eat fruits of knowledge that empowers a people to rule the earth and subdue it and multiply or at least rule their society well and be blessed if only we could understand.

In religious societies, religion is the ideology and philosophy people live by, and not using our heads while expecting the Gods to come from heaven to feed us will result in us crying NEPA while we starve in darkness.

If religious people sought understanding instead of just believing, I'd personally not be bothered by them.

Theists especially Christians disturb me early in the mornings with loudspeakers. Muslims do their own morning shout earlier. Christians disturb me with midnight prayers and worship. As I get to my car,they block me and hand me fliers,which I just ignore. They knock on my door to preach 'good news'. They block the rod while I'm going to work,so I have to take detours. And whats worse,they call me devil's child(which i dont mind)

If an iPhone needs a maker due to its complexity, then an all-knowing cosmic deity requires an infinitely more complex creator. You can't grant your God an exemption without committing glaring special pleading. Try again, my friend, because nothing here is settled except your defeat. There are several ways to look at it.

1). Maybe because religious people are always in your face. Every corner you turn in modern day Nigeria, you see or meet religion. Even in everyday language, people always reference God. Nigerians are among the most religious people on earth. So, it makes sense for a Nigerian atheist to act in a manner that suggests that they are obsessed about religion. The religionist simply will not leave you alone.

2). Atheism is itself a belief system. And every belief system requires adherents to convert people to their ways. What you call obsession on the path of the atheist can be likened to religious zeal to win more converts.
