ferdimako: Hey, was it $4,000 that you paid to the Embassy to get your visa approved? Did you in any other way pay money against the tuition to your school? I have a school that my program commands $28,000 tuition. Am just wondering!

$4000 paid to the school to confirm my enrollment and not to the embassy.

All universities permit school and work, infact it's not a function of the school, but your visa. Student visa allows you to work 40 hrs per fortnight, and unlimited hours during the hols. I think its probably too late to meet up with march entry, if you have not applied to any school.

Strealime visa processing. It's to ensure swift visa processing, usually less than 4 wks as against 12 wks. Technically, they upgrade your visa and treat as level 1 as against the level3. Google it out for more details. Although, this has not worked for me,don't know why though.

Quite a bit difficult to list them out without leaving out a couple of things. Your best bet is the visa checklist. This itemise all that are require in the right order as captured on the visa form. Find below some of the details

Filled visa application form and checklist
Coe
Medibank health insurance receipt
Statement of account and payslip(am sponsoring myself)
CV
Ielts
Birth certicates
4 passports
Complete photocopy of your passport(all the pages and 4 copies of your passport information page)
580 dollars visa fee and 49000 naira visa processing charges
All required certificates(O level and 1st degree)
Some other documents at my decretion (like appointment and ref letter from my current employer, proffessional certifications, tax clearance etc.

I also notorized some of the important documents.

I have a non-visa enquiry. I searched out the average cost of rent(a studio room) in Sydney and I observed the figure falls in the range of $300-$400 per week; that's quite on the high side. I believe there are strategies to get cheaper rates; like opting for a non-serviced apartment, etc. I Would be so appreciative if you can shed more light on some of these strategies; $400 weekly is way too high.

Indian visa application is now online. Google out their website and apply online. You would advised of an appointment date after submitting your application. Ofcourse, the website also details the major prerequistes. All the best

I think it might have been your approach. Most schools now accept online application; either allows you fill & submit online or allows you to print out the forms online,then fill and pouch to their admission office with other relevant documents. I don't see why they should shove greedy agents down your throat. Try browsing through their website with the view to submitting your application online.There should be Apply online menu somewhere.

No one can really do this better than yourself. Just dedicate a day to this and browse through yourself. The best approach is- google out university ranking in Australia over the last 5 years, then start picking through the middle ranked schools. Most cases, lowly ranked schools are usually more affordable. All the best.

Academic IETLS would suffice. Funny enough I got the admission without it, although I provided other evidences like proof of English proficiency from my School. However, I eventually took the test because I wasn't sure of how it would affect my Visa application. The good thing is -- the exam isn't dificult, with a week or preparation u should be ready for it.I applied to UNSW.

Would also like to know how long it took between when you submitted your application at vfs and when you were first contacted by the consulate in SA. Did the consulate in SA notify you when your application was received in SA(note, not when u submitted)in Nigeria. Congrat once again

Browse through their website, all required info would definitely be available.

cconcept: well,i just got interested in doing a phd there and trying to see if its a good option to consider-schools,funding,etc

ANU, UniSyd, Melbourne and UNSW are quite good research institutes with appreciable government funding. Not sure of their scholarship or tuition waiver programmes for Phd. You may have to browse through their websites. Scholarship isnt so common in Aussy like the US sha.

RedReact: No problem at all. I was asked by someone if the fund for fee was available as against March admission time cos that could cause delay and I told him funding would be no problem.
When the time comes for those payment, I will contact you sha.
For the accomodation, you will also hint me on anything u get o. I wanted to ask a guy at Monash uni abt accomodation but he wasn't replying my mails, so I stopped sending any enquiry.

Payment is also no big deal. When you are admitted, they would send you an offer letter, with two options of accepting the offer; online and the hard copy. I chose to accept online, because its faster.I paid with my ATM card. Accommodation in Syd is quite expensive, am looking at shared accommodation to cut my expense. I have not made arrangement for now sha.

What does commitment fee mean? Is it part of their fee?

Just to confirm your enrolment. It's part of the tuition, i.e, it would be netted off your over all tuition fee. Your CoE would be sent to you after making this deposit.

RedReact: Yeah! They are quite organised. When some issues needed to be addressed, they were bombarding me with mails so as to make the corrections.
What about accomodation? Are u staying off-campus or on-campus? Were you required to pay full fee or fee for the 1st 12 months?
I like the school sha for its ranking and research. I think its should be no 3 or 4 in ranking by research.

Yeah,that explains why I chose them. Am inclined towards off Campus, possibly a suburb close to the sch. I only paid 4000 dollars commitment fee for the enrolment.

bbamega: i submited CoE 4 m and my son of 5yrs and others paper like sponsor. transcript and other education certificate and they are all certified true copy and i paid 580 us dollars for visa fee and N65,800 for vfs family charges.yea my school is part of svp bt i got my admission b4 dey start the svp so i am nt eligible 4 svo.av done my medical and im awaiting decision any tym.

Non svp applications are treated as level 3, which may span over 12 weeks. The good thing is - you placed your application early enough. Wish u all the best. Which city are you going?

MIS, also march intake. Their processing time is pretty swift. They are quite organised.

Go to VFS site for Australia for detailed info. You are to pay 580 dollars for student visa and another 38500 Naira for processing charges or so.

bbamega: The visa might takes upto 6wks or more.i have applied 4 my visa since November 6 and medical requested since 15 November and medical received since 26 November and i am still waiting for my trv.

Are you eligible for SVP? i.e, your sch was part of the accredited schs to take part in svp and you also submitted your CoE?
