Brodally I need go AWOL o.... by my calculations if everything go according to plan my RP should be issued by the 3rd or 4th week of July. Sch resumes 17 August 2015 and I need to give my firm a 1 month notice before I resign. My 2 weeks leave can help reduce the notice period to 2weeks. So u catch my drift abi.... dem don overwork me sef..... so na to breakdown on Tuesday afternoon....lols

Completed the online application and submitted my original docs to the embassy on Monday as I had to travel outside my base.... I didn't include a SOP/Letter of explanation. I plan to do that when I am settled and calm during the weekend and also upload it as part of supplementary documents, what do u think about that?

Mehn... I don dey dream of Tampere already o......

Kippis!!!!! (na the only finnish wey I sabi at the moment o grin )
My Broda, My own story na long one; my training bond is meant to expire by December (which means I shall pay my company some amount when leaving by August, or at least make some repayment arrangement over time). So go AWOL o, dem no go kill you. grin.
The bolded makes sense. It's very important you compose your SOP when in the right frame.
I sent all my documents to the embassy today and I'm not only dreaming of Tampere already, I don dey receive lectures there cool grin. We go rep there by God's grace.
Kittos! grin cheesy

I would likely go AWOL for 3 days grin

I need my leave period to reduce the notice period I need to give my firm because I nor get shishi to pay.

Have u received ur acceptance package from TUT?

No try am o grin AWOL? Sick leave may be better na... Same thing applies to me though I'm considering sick leave.
Package not yet received, but the school advised that if the package has not been delivered by now, we can print out the soft copy and return to them before the July 29th deadline.
Have you sent your documents to the embassy?

I should submit my application on migri on Sunday and the hard copies to the embassy on Monday. The SOP/explanation letter is the only out standing document that I am yet to draft.
I noticed that the application to TOAS for accommodation didn't go through on Friday May 15 so I applied the next Monday and got a confirmation e-mail.
My letter of acceptance never land oo... but I sent an email to the course coordinator and TUT admission office, I was informed that I can use the scanned documents in the email containing the offer letter for RP application and acceptance of offer of admission and enrollment.
Okay, we are good to go... All is well... As per that level, I shall be taking part of my annual leave around that time too, so that I can plan my movement well.

@Olabode89, how far, have you submitted your application on migri? I shall be submitting mine finally on Monday. Have you gotten any response from TOAS, and what about your Letter of Acceptance from TUT, have you received the hard copy?? cool

I think it's just a recommendation, most likely it is easier for them to confirm bank balances at the aforementioned banks.

Wetin bring wedding certificate matter? .........LMAO

What date were us scheduled for?
Ok, I guess as much.
I tire for them o. I put a call through to them, and I was informed that it was a mistake on their part, the lady that spoke to me requested that I send my letter of acceptance which I have done. They are yet to schedule me, though I requested for 11th June.

@sirkezman @goskian and other peeps applying for RP... make una sharply send mail to embassy of Finland, the info I got before that interview date is usually 4 weeks after date of booking is true. I sent a mail to the embassy today and my interview date is 10 June 2015.

For guys resuming in AUGUST abeg make una sharply go book interview date oo.

Another info I think will be important is that the embassy recommends 5 banks for students

1. GTB
2. Zenith
3. Access bank
4. First bank and;
5. Skye bank

These embassy people wan they make me feel old one kind (I am between 25-30 yrs for crying out loud). After sending a mail to book interview, they responded by asking me if I had legalised my wedding certificate with them grin. I sharperly responded that I am still single o. angry grin. I am using another commercial bank o, do you mean they won't accept it?

sirkezman:
oh really? you are the one to select? when did that start? dates was allocated by the embassy last year!

I read it on their webpage... I will search the link of where I saw it a post it here later.
Travel / Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by Goskian(m): 10:11am On May 11, 2015
sirkezman:
sounds like a nice plan. as olabode has said, you will need to add your certificate of deposit to it and also explain in your sop. then you are good to go.
olabode89:

High chief Goskian, It makes a lot of sense to go that route. I think u might have to get a letter or a short term deposit certificate from the bank. Also draft a letter of explanation in your application and find a way of relating the fixed funds in your account to support documents relating to source of the funds that have been fixed.

How far? you don book date for interview... hope u remember say na in 11 weeks time TUT they start orientation. At last I was able to push my SOA to 1.55M, so I sent a mail to Embassy of Finland, Nigeria today.

I don't know how true this is, but someone that applied late last year informed me that the interview date is approximately one month after you request for a date from the embassy. So I don jejely send them mail today. I hope to complete my online application during the weekend.

Thanks guys, I will do just that. I just sent interview booking request to the embassy now, I booked 11th June. I think you are the one to select the date of your interview, which has to be at least two weeks after your documents (hard copies) have been delivered at the embassy.

Hello Ladies and gentlemen, I trust your weekend was great. I wish us a very great week with interesting and palatable tidings.
@Iceberg and sirkezman, I was just thinking if one can fix the money in such a way that when bank debits the money (1.5-2m) for fixing, it will reflect on the statement of account that such amount has been fixed and it will mature at so and so date which is going to be prior to departure for finland. By this way I believe my money can continue working for me, as a business-minded person na. grin
I called the embassy already but they asked me to call back by 1 pm to make the enquiry. Let's discuss this issue and share opinions. Thanks.

My Bank account need more cash before o can submit the application.... I intend to submit the application and visit the Finnish embassy by 3rd week of May.
Yes you can. Just create your account and fill-in the form and when you get to the satge where you need to upload document, you save to return later when you must have obtained your complete documents. Probably we are going there same time time.

Chief Goskian.... have u made up your mind on accepting the offer of admission @ TUT?? You got an email from TUT with the Offer letter and other documents as attachments, right?

What's up with ur RP application??

I tried sending you an e-mail yesterday sef.......
My brother, I saw the notification on NL, but I have not been able to access the mail I used for registering this account. I'll respond to it once I have access to it later in the day.
Yes, I got the mail from TUT 2 days ago. I should be getting my health insurance from Aiico (N30,800) by next month, since it's cheaper than Mutual (N31,500) grin wink. I have started my application online and only waiting to obtain my SOA. I shall be submitting the application by mid/late May.

Boss, You are to obtain insurance before you apply. I guess you have the wrong info. Two insurance companies are recognized: AIICo and Mutual benefits. Its about 30k for AIICO. I can help with an AIICO guy's number if needed , or you could just go to any of their offices.

Cheers Sir!!
Boss, many thanks for the enlightenment. I just put a call through to Aiico now, and they said the rate is N30,800 p.a.
I appreciate once more.

Not really though, but on the balance of things Tampere is a bigger city (=more opportunities and PT jobs) compared to Lappeenranta.

Still thinking bout it though...........LUT seems to be more outgoing with an 'out in your face swag'........

From my research TUT has a better global appeal compared to LUT... but TUT seems to be more innovative with a lot of Innovation based subjects in their syllabus.

My status at UAF is also showing 'Sent to University'

Note
Population
Tampere - 220,000
Lappeenranta - 40,000

my LG at Lagos - over 500,000
Yes, Tampere is the third largest metropolis in Finland and presents more opportunities than Lappeenranta, and TUT is also older, more reputable than LUT. May God guide us aright anyways. LOL @ the bolded.

Hello Guys!!!! I have got good news and bad news to share.....

The bad news.............Aalto rejected my application o cry

But I got a mail from TUT, I was accepted to the Industrial Engineering and Management MSc program.....

I inquired from Aalto for the reason I was rejected and I was informed that it was because I didn't have a 1st class in my Bachelor's studies.

So guys going forward anyone applying to Aalto if they state that "they require students who achieved consistently the best grades throughout their BSc prog" na first class them dey yarn o (4.5/5.0 and above.... my cgpa na 4.35/5.0). Yeye Aalto peeps, I have been dreaming of Espoo.

@goskian congrats bro... we go align for Tampere!!!!!

Congrats too. I was already fantasizing Espoo...Upon my strong CGPA Aalto still did me strong thing... Hmmmm, we must show them later grin.

Thank you. I have clarified the appropriate option. It's Residence permit application for study (OLE_OPI). Funds is not a challenge, I have more than enough grin. Just waiting for my Letter of Acceptance from the school.

Are u talking about the online application?...If yes, then that option should be correct. I didnt use the online option though so I don't really know how it works. Though I advice u to use it. It speeds up the process. But before u book any appointment with the embassy, make sure you are ready o. Funds and documents wise. Those migri peeps no dey smile o. No room for mistakes. You dont need to rush. Be prepared before u go.

All the best!
