The word of God says, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. There is a strong three-way connection between the will of God, the troubles of life and your victory in life. There is a connection that cannot be broken.

You must understand that no dream, vision or prophesy can establish the will of God. It can confirm God’s will, but it cannot establish it. If you run around believing that you are in the will of God because of a vision or a dream, you are in trouble, you’re heading for shipwreck. You must establish every dream, every vision on the word of God.

Paul said, in everything give thanks. Notice he did not say for everything, he said in everything. This does not mean it is God that causes bad things to happen to a person but He says, in everything, give thanks. Whether good or bad, hot or cold, give thanks.

Why should we give thanks? We give thanks because God will use that situation to establish you in His will. In Jonah 2:10, after Jonah gave thanks, God spoke to the fish and the fish vomited Jonah.

As you give thanks, in that situation, God will lift you and establish you in His will. He will bring you out.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Enough is enough. I am coming out. I come out of stagnation, limitation, hindrances, opposition, failure, delay. I step out, the fish will not consume me. Power of God, set me free from the stomach of every fish in the name of Jesus. Give Him thanks.

Topic: Never The Same [Monday February 8, 2016]

Text: 2 Chronicles 4:9-22Key Verse: “And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God” (2 Chronicles 4:11).

Sin is a destroyer! And an opportunity lost cannot be regained. By consistently sinning against the almighty God, Israel profaned the temple of worship; God sold them into captivity and had the temple destroyed by invading armies.

The almighty God is great and deserves to be worshipped in the beauty of His holiness. In our text, Solomon set out torn build a house for God. The details given in reference to all that he did torn build the temple was to remind believers about the initial condition of the house, which was later destroyed by the Babylonian soldiers. This was because of the sin of Israel. Their state of apostasy resulted in the destruction of the great temple Solomon built. Never again in history would such an elaborate temple be built by Israel and never again would the nation be able to accumulate such great amount of silver and gold. The temple was rebuilt when the remnants returned from Babylonian captivity, but not with the splendor of bronze, silver and gold with which Solomon had built. Another temple was built during the reign of Herod the Great, but again not with all the bronze, silver and gold that Solomon used in the building of the first temple.

The first experience of salvation is always the best. Like Esau, who lost his birthright and sought with tears to reclaim it afterward without success, those who have at any time lost their personal experience in Christ can testify that even though they got it back, it was never the same. It is damning to be reticent in our walk with Christ. This is why believers must guard jealously all their spiritual experiences and ensure they are not stolen by the devil or lost over a mere mess of porridge.

MESSAGE:

To have the full understanding of the term “revival by the Word of God”, we need to carefully consider the various interpretations of the Word of God in view of the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the Old Testament, the Word of God implied both a word about God and a word from God. In effect, the word of God refers to what God says, and at the same time describes God, His essence and attributes. The New Testament on the other hand, presents the Word of God as a person, the second person of the Trinity. Jesus Christ or Lord, who was with the Father from the beginning of creation. The New Testament presents the Word of God as follows:

” 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” – Colossians 1:16-18

The special ability of the Word of God to revive is based principally on the fact that He is the source of all things in heaven and earth. Since all things were created by Him, the power to revive is embedded in His creative power. God spoke all things into being by the power of His Word. Since the power to create is greater than the power to repair, it is well within the power of the Word to revive a corrupted creature at will.

To this end the Bible says the Word of God is living and active, He has the power to quicken and animate anything He chooses. The Word is able to examine and judge those who hear him, He does not fail, but always accomplishes the set purpose. The Word of God is in fact a weapon of warfare That is able to penetrate and deal with material objects such as joints and marrow, and even the immaterial world such as the soul and spirit.

This passage further confirms that there is no hiding place for any creature before the Word as all things are made bare and completely exposed before Him. Furthermore, the thoughts and intents of the heart of men are correctly discerned and decoded by the Word of God.

Dearly beloved, I admonish you to stop playing games with God. Ask for forgiveness, renewal, revival and rededication today. He will answer your prayers beyond your wildest dreams. He will revive you by the power of His Word and give you a new beginning of joy, peace, and prosperity. You will also reign with Him in heaven in Jesus name.

Prayer point: Father, Please revive me by the power in your Word in the mighty name of Jesus.

A story was told of a Christian woman who was in the habit of defying the state’s law on environmental sanitation exercise every last Saturday of the month. Her excuse was that she was not bound by the laws of man because she was doing God’s work. So, anytime the environmental exercise was on, she would go about with megaphone, preaching on the streets.

She was eventually arrested and taken to the court where she was tried, found guilty and sentenced to one month imprisonment with hard labour. As she was being led away into prison, she was screaming that she was in the will of God. In our text today, Paul the apostle saw the need to correct a wrong impression among some believers who think that government authorities were demons and needed not be obeyed or respected. He pointed out to them that no government would be in existence if God had not ordained it for a purpose.

He encouraged believers to subject themselves to the authorities as such powers are God’s instruments. It is shocking that some believers disobey constituted authority by refusing to pay taxes and other legitimate dues. Such people also refuse to take part in other civic activities for the good of society. Those who resist civil government are actually resisting God who instituted government in order to maintain order in the society.

The fact that rulers of civil government are corrupt and wicked does not invalidate the necessity of civil government and one’s obedience to the laws of the land. Every citizen, irrespective of religious background, must abide by the laws of the land. Disobedience to any law is only welcome by God when such law is in direct conflict with the divine law. Even at that, there is still need for divine wisdom to always act right.

Thought for the day: The ship that will not obey the helm will have to obey the rocks

The second time David was anointed in the Bible was in 2 Samuel 2:4. This time, He was anointed as king over Judah. The word ‘Judah’ means praise. He was anointed to praise. Praise is a compulsory weapon for every believer. When you master the art of praise you understand that in every situation you find yourself, you give God praise whether in good, bad, hard times, etc.

When the whole world is against you, including your family and people you love, you do not cry for the devil, rather, you praise God even when you don’t feel like. You become the king of praise.

The 3rd time David was anointed is in 2 Samuel 5:3. This time, he was anointed King over the whole of Israel. Israel means one that has power with God. In 2 Samuel 5:10, the bible says, “…David grew great….” in other words, David kept on increasing in power or anointing.

When the philistines knew that David was anointed king over Israel, the bible says the philistines spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim (see verses 17-18). The word ‘Rephaim’ means ‘giants’. In other words, the philistines spread themselves in the valley of giants. Remember, when David was first anointed, he faced a bear, a lion and one giant. But now he was to face many giants. He had grown. When David faced these giants, he defeated them, they went and regrouped and came back to the same valley of giants, and David defeated them again. The more you are anointed, the more the giants you will face in life but be rest assured, you have the capacity to defeat them all. (See verse 22)
David was able to defeat the giants because he had the anointing, he had mastered the weapon of praise and he had un-shaking confidence in His God.

Your walk with God is a continuous process, the more anointing you get, the bigger your giants but you must recognize and apply the principles of David so that you also will see victory. The principles are: understand the efficacy of the anointing, master the act of praise and have unshaken confidence in your God.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Father thank you for anointing me with Your power. I destroy every giant that wants to stand on my way to breakthrough.
