Politics / Re: We Are Not Useless In The North By Amshi by GotNoBrainsYo: 1:00am On May 14, 2013 |
The South does not hate the North, but the leaders of the North feel entitled, you can call it the born to rule mentality. If we return to Regional governments, then the North can export their produce to other regions as well as externally. Likewise the SS can use the petrochemical industries to finance the industrialization of the SS as well as produce materials for export to the North. Lagos, being the economic lighthouse of West Africa can provide logistics, while the SE can invest in small and medium scale industries e.g Car manufacturing and light industrial goods that it currently excels in. The day the Leaders of the North extend a hand of friendship across the Niger, they will find willing partners. If they insist on extending a fist, then we will fight to the bitter end. Germany lost WW1 and WW2, but is better off today than the so- called winners. The North won the Nigerian Civil war and may well win the next war, but they can never extinguish the spirit of the South. Onward ever! 4 Likes |
Politics / Where Would You Like To See Obama Presidential Library Built? by GotNoBrainsYo: 3:52am On Apr 26, 2013 |
Should Obama's presidential library be built on a historically Black College such as Howard or Morehouse? Or should he do away with anything that ties to his African/ African-American Heritage. I personally would like to see his Presidential Library built at Howard, but since Howard is in DC, I prefer that he pick Morehouse- the home of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. OR The University of Ibadan- The best University in Nigeria. What do you all think? |

PhysicsQED: So you think the Sultan of Sokoto, will carry his Shokoto and go and wait for HRH. Or that the Shehu of Borno will go and wait for HRH at an airport without royal aides? Please let me hear word. The Oba denigrated his Office as far as I am concerned. Carry GO! |
Politics / Is Nigeria A Fascist Or A Failed State? by GotNoBrainsYo: 12:09am On Apr 22, 2013 |
Fascism is the unchecked rule of a class of the privileged, or relatively rich, in power-a full-scale assault on poor and working people. Parliamentary institutions are usually set aside, or so demeaned as to be meaningless. Elites issue direct orders. Wages, any social safety net, working hour laws, labor laws; all come under legal (and extra-legal) attack. Fascism requires and is built on the support of capitalist elites, and the state run as a corporation is paramount for the elites who are shareholders. This differs from Nazism only in that in Nazism- State Power is exercised solely for the benefit of a race, and race is paramount. Is Nigeria a fascist state or failed state? |

PAGAN 9JA: I dont know where to begin. Are we talking about European Aristocratic tradition, Or African Aristocratic/Royal Tradition. Where is his entourage as a Royal? Why he is there at the tarmac waiting for her? The Oba belittled his Kingship. PERIOD. |

She is a breath of fresh Air. Whether she is Yoruba or not is irrelevant She is accomplished, educated and multi-lingual: English, French, Yourba. Even I as an Igbo resepect her talent. Unlike what i see here on Nairaland, where praise for someone's work is predicated on what tribe one belongs to. e.g. as some Yorubas have tried to denigrate the work and life of Achebe Go Tayo! 3 Likes |

I just saw a number of videos on Youtube by an artist Baban Chinedu. Is he Igbo or Hausa? Is he mocking Igbos or using humor to make Hausas see Igbos as human too? Does anyone understand Hausa who can make sense of his lyrics? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-bWbHrqkso |
