ViceAdmiral: I don't know who came up with the idea of saying the presidential flight is part of the air force on wiki...we both know the Government Air Transportation Services (GATS) is part of the Transportation Ministry not ministry of Defence...And i haven read anything yet that says the presidential flight has been moved to the Air force
All I'm saying is that civilian Aircraft don't land at Grootfontein
ViceAdmiral: Namibian armed forces went to go explain themselves to Parliament(People are really pi*ssed of the high Defence Budget year in year out) Pic 1: Uniforms of the Namibian Navy (Can some1 help I.D the rifle to the right) Pic 2: Namibian Air Force Group Captain presenting
Namibians complain waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much...the same people that wanted to start war last month are the same ones that are complaining ;DI agree with the high budget...should serve as a deterrent for all those who want to disturb the peace
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULtzgE9mJD8 *Unrelated* A Chinese video game software company called Tencent recently released a war simulation video(with the approval of the PLA)...Looks pretty interesting and just thought I'd share it....The Chinese forces appear to be engaging The US and Japan...
"Denel Group's ammunition manufacturing divisions Pretoria Metal Pressings and Rheinmetall Denel Munition both saw big increases in profitability in the last financial year, with 443% and 62% increases respectively.PMP's earnings were up substantially between the 2014 and 2015 financial years, with revenue rising from R515 million to R828 million, with the majority (74%) coming from the local market. ... Some of the highlights mentioned by Denel in its annual report for PMP included delivery of the new 30x173 mm cannon round for the South African Army's Badger infantry fighting vehicle, which mounts the 30 mm CamGun on the Section and Fire Support variants.
After completing the industrialisation of the 30x173mm PRAC-T rounds in 2014, the industrialisation of the APCI-T and SAPHEI-T rounds were completed in March 2015 with 15 000 APCI-T and 88 000 PRAC-T rounds being delivered to the South African National Defence Force."
Coming along nicely . 10/10 for South African defence industry.
africaken: its the NEW WORLD ORDER ,nothing is stopping them.i have just seen a sub-sahara country soldiers marching !
I feel like they've should've invited some more Sub Saharan countries to participate...even though most still use the common drill(which would ruin the pace of the parade)
ViceAdmiral: That could explain why i've only seen 6-502,6-506,6-508...Well its the Namibian Air Force's fault that the web is full of wrong info..Thy should work on their PR...Thy should take an example from ZA down south...[I feel that we have an unbalanced Air Force]and those guys should seriously consider buying more transport aircraft i'm no fan of the AN 26...Its payload is pathetic and having only 1(dont know if they fixed the 1 that crashed last of last year) is an embarrassment ....
Ilyushins are on the way...but you didn't hear that from me
ViceAdmiral: I have never seen a pic of K-8 tail number 6-504
Contrary to what Wikipedia says,we actually operate 12 K-8's...The three that the public always see are part of the acrobatics and display team...the rest are either on Standby or being used for training flights...So it's understandable that you might not have seen that specific aircraft beforeb
ViceAdmiral: The 'states' as in US government or PMC's??..
Was trying to find a source for you...Search up Namrights...under the section "Illegal arms deals by the government" On the sale of Wolf's to the U.S. Military...The title was "Wolves in the desert" the desert being that of Afghanistan...Goodluck Cadre
ViceAdmiral: I love the idea personally but i dont see that happening. Our Government has a Chinese fixation...Perhaps the Badger was out of reach[cost wise] ...Our navy is expanding and getting OPV's from ZA is not such a bad thing and i prefer commonality over stand alone and once off ships that will get harder to maintain with age or They could even buy from Brazil that we have to thank the most for training our navy but no after those guys got taught how to sail a ship and run a navy they ran straight to China poor Brazilians
A few Air Force buddies were telling me that the Government has decided to drop the whole Gripen deal in favor of the J-10...And as far as MBTs go we expressed our interest in that new Chinese tank the MBT-3000...Even though I honestly feel like we should be pushing the Germans to sell us Leo's!!! Anyways...
ViceAdmiral: They belong to that military museum in Okahandja that is never getting to open, such old equipment
The base in very interesting...they keep all the modern equipment outside...And give the old relics a nice final resting place..see the Mraps outside in the rain? That museum is only off limits for you civilians The rest of us can go in and out as we please Just halla I could take you there...but there's not much
ViceAdmiral: I know wiki says we operate BTR's and i know in 1990 SWAPO 'donated' BTR's to the Government but i doubt if we use them i've been paying 'attention' to our military for a while now and i haven't seen evidence of one in service, I'm still waiting for the day i see a Namibian BTR, T-34 and T-54/55 tanks as listed by wiki ...The defence web article says that a new light armoured vehicle is the cards, cant wait to see the results
They're there kept in storage at Grootfontein along with a few Russian Anti-Tank guns...Wonder when's the last time they've seen the sun though..
