Henry240: What does that even mean?
Aren't you guys all children of the struggle, with a population of, i think 1.9 million people (my city has 2x your population), jobs ordinarily shouldn't be difficult to find, and considering you're just on the border with South-Africa. Well this group of people that refer to themselves as "struggle kids" (although I feel the term "Exile kids" is more appropriate)Left the country during the war with their combatant parents to neighbouring countries and were kept in Refugee camps and did not get an education thus leaving them with no qualifications for desk jobs(which is what they are looking for) They then started to camp outside the SWAPO headquarters and refused to leave until their demands were met...which then led to a large face off with the police and resulted in the death of one of their members(A woman) who they occasionally use as a martyr to carry out sporadic attacks...5000 of them were offered jobs with the police and another 5000 with the defence force and few more were offered jobs working on state owned farms working in the fields,Which should be okay given the little experience they have however they have turned down those jobs as they feel they deserve better than that(entitlement mentality really)so everyone pretty much ignores them, but once in a while they start causing chaos and the situation becomes uncontrollable... |

outskirts of Windhoek spent a night in fear of their lives in what seemed like a war zone after an angry mob made up of people calling themselves struggle kids attacked a family on one of the plots.
According to one of the members of the Brakwater Neighbourhood Watch, when they awoke this morning the unruly group of people were back on the road throwing stones at passing cars and blocking the way for ordinary people to go to their places of work in Windhoek.
Mrs Atousha Fischer-Buder, the head of the neighbourhood watch, became the second person to be admitted to hospital after being assaulted in front of members of the Namibian police yesterday.
“During the struggle one of them grabbed me by the hair and pulled me off my feet. The action was so violent that I could feel immediately that I was seriously injured. The person also hit me with an object or it might have their fists in my face and on my head all while police officers were looking and taking no action to stop the violence being perpetrated right in front of them.” She said at the beginning of the violence she sent a report to the necessary community police commanders and asked for strong law enforcement contingent. She said it would turn into chaos and requested to send enough manpower to prevent any damage and any situation but they did not do it and waited too long to act.
“Apart from being assaulted in front of attending police officers. I was insulted with very bad hate speech. They threatened to rape me and said I would be killed. They took a picture with their mobile phones of me and my car and one of them said: ‘Soon we will rape and kill you white woman you don't belong to this country; it's our mother land and you are to be raped and killed by us soon.” The police heard and saw everything but took no action whatsoever.
“I have not opened the case because I need the CiD to open that case. I am in hospital and in severe pain with injuries to my neck due to being pulled and dragged by my hair by one of the struggle kids.
The community people are now asking me how they can trust and rely on the police if they don't protect one person who they know has selflessly worked for them and assisted them in all ways.”
She said one vertebra in her neck has shifted out of its place that's the reason for all the pain she is experiencing.
According to Fischer-Buder the situation could have been handled with less violence and fewer damages and been less of an issue if the action from the police had been faster.
She said the kids attacked the police as well by throwing stones and firing shots in their direction. The action from the violent mob yesterday forced the police to retreat to a safe distance and they could not get close enough to calm the situation down.
“I would, however, want to thank chief inspector Basson, commander of Katutura police station, who came and tried to talk to the struggle kids and stood by us and helped us, as well as a member from the CiD who went in and tried to calm down the situation.”
Anyways:A picture from Nigeria's Armed forces rememberance day

ViceAdmiral: Self defence....you would have done the same if there was a mob outside of your house i guess.... Indeed I would've...But I would've called the police almost immediately and not the trigger happy neighborhood watch which just escalated the situation and turned this into a Black vs White thing |

ViceAdmiral: There are racial undertones to this specific incident....but the "CHILDREN OF THE LIBERATION STRUGGLE" want jobs from the government and guess what they'll likely end up in the Military or Police
NAMIBIAN POLICE PRESS BRIEFING: ON INCIDENT THAT TOOK PLACE AT BRAKWATER BETWEEN "CHILDREN OF THE LIBERATION STRUGGLE" AND SOME OF THE BRAKWATER RESIDENTS.
Yesterday, Thursday, 14 January 2016, at about 16h00, on the gravel road next to Ndilimani Swapo Camp, Brakwater, Windhoek, one of the Children of the Liberation Struggle was bumped by a vehicle of a nearby plot owner, and that led to physical confrontation between the surrounding plots owners and the Children of the Liberation Struggle.
The Namibian Police Force was called to the scene at around 18h00. Allegedly, the confrontation ensured after one female Child of the Liberation Struggle was bumped by a vehicle of a nearby plot owner. It is alleged that, three female Children of the Liberation Struggle were on their way returning from the nearby plot were they went to collect fire wood.
While on their way back to their Camp, they were met by the owner of the plot, who allegedly drove his vehicle towards them, consequently bumped and injured one of them.
They left the wood and ran back to their Camp and informed their fellow colleagues. In the meantime, the plot owner pick-up the wood and went with it to his homestead.
As a result, allegedly the Struggle Children took their vehicle (a white Toyota Corola) with four male occupants allegedly armed with Pangas and stones, while the mob of other Children of the Liberation Struggle followed.
Upon their arrival at the homestead, the owner of the plot came out to talk to the Children of the Liberation Struggle, but they allegedly attacked the plot owner and one of his son sustained head injuries.
In the process shots were fired at the Children of the Liberation Struggle and one occupant in the vehicle was injured on the left arm and their vehicle's bonnet and windscreen damaged. In the meantime, the Neighbourhood Watch in the area turned up to assist the situation, and they ended up in a confrontation with the Children of the Liberation Struggle which resulted in some of them sustaining injuries and their vehicles being damaged.
As it was getting dark, the situation became tense and out of control. Upon the arrival of the members of the Namibian Police Force we managed to defuse the situation and brought the situation under control.
During the confrontation, four people were injured (two Children of the Liberation Struggle and two Brakwater residents). From the four of them, two were treated for minor injuries and discharged, one (male) Children of the Liberation struggle is admitted at Katutura State Hospital, and one (female) Brakwater resident is admitted at Windhoek Medi-Clinic.
A team of investigators have been constituted, one group of investigators are attending to the allegations made by the Children of the Liberation Struggle, while the other group of investigators are attending to the allegations made by the Brakwater residents. Statements have been obtained as such cases will be registered accordingly, ranging from Assault with intent to cause Grievous -Bodily Harm, Attempted Murder, Malicious damage to Property, and Trespassing. Police intense investigations are underway, and so far no arrest has been effected yet.
This morning the situation became tense again and the Police had to use teargas to disperse the Children of the Liberation Struggle who blocked the gravel road preventing road users to use the road unhindered.
The Police would like to assure the residents of Brakwater that the situation is under control. The Children of the Liberation Struggle are back into their Camp, and the Police will keep monitoring the situation.
We would like to warn that nobody should take the law into their own hands, and should anything happens, they should report it immediately to the Police. This doesn't include the part where he drove home, armed his family(and had his four sons take up sniping positions on the roof) and open fire on the crowd which then resulted in house breakings, people being robbed of their items(and firearms) and a intense battle between aprox 450 rioters versus the Special reserve force and predominately white Neighborhood watch. But a good statement nonetheless |

ViceAdmiral: Looks like the SRF was dressed for both crowd-control and possibly some running battle Seeing the reputation for violence those 'exile kidds' have earned themselves In their defense..."The kids" are armed and dangerous...Their also serving as a buffer between the group and the residents of Brakwater who are also armed and not very happy...I predict more violence and unrest to come...and the gunfire last night war very close to where I reside...No taking chances...Will sleep like this tonight

Earlier today the Namibian Police Special Reserve force rescued a bunch of tourists who had been lost for three days without any food or water,The rescue team however gave them water and something to eat and assured them that they were now in safe hands. The tourists had been navigating their way through the Namib desert at the time and strayed from their path(because they didn't pack a GPS system )Although they are safe now and were found with all their limbs attached to their bodies...The group has made it clear that they will never be visiting Namibia ever again.
