Good afternoon gurus in the house. Sorry to derail this thread. Please I wrote the GRE and got the following scores :
Quant - 153
Verbal 158
AWA 4.0

My question is: can I secure full funding with this score given that my undergraduate CGPA is 4.32/5.0 in Electrical Engineering?
The desired program is PhD/masters in Electrical Engineering.
Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

Good morning gurus in the house. Please I have a question. Can one fund himself for M.Sc (EE) at memorial university or any other cheap school with an account balance of 12m naira? I mean, will this be enough proof of financial capability for visa application?

Thanks in anticipation

Congrats.

This link provides admission results to various schools and the profiles of their applicants.

https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=Electrical+engineering&o=

You'll have to do most of the researching yourself by searching for professors with similar research interests on the websites of their grad school program. You could simply Google search "US professors + your research interest".
Also you could contact current research students of these profs (you might also find this on the program's website) via platforms like LinkedIn to know if there are available positions in their labs.

Wishing you the best.

Alright. Thank you very much

Congratulations to all successful candidates. I wish you guys a splendid stay overseas.

Please I want to know what my chances are with a 2'1 CGPA (4.32/5.0) in Electrical Engineering with oil and gas industry experience. Is any 2'1 graduate among the successful applicants? If yes, please what are the things that I need to do now to boost my chances of being shortlisted next year?

JustMellow:

Hello Gozmoc8167,

It boils to several factors like the cost of your tuition cost, family composition, etc. You may want to present an account sufficient enough to cover your study expenses.

As a self-sponsored, it will help your financial demonstration and strength if you can present a financial record of NGN 8m excluding tuition.
It will do you well if you can pay at least the first year of your tuition and set up a GIC or have the funds secured with a proper demonstration of its availability.

If you intend to apply through the NSE stream, maintain the financial requirement set by IRCC to be C$30,000 (let's say about NGN 10m).

Best of Luck

Thanks a lot sir JustMellow. Please regarding the NSE route, does 30,000 CAD include tuition fee? Also, I saw the French Language Test as a requirement for NSE. Must I take the French test?
Finally, do you think a total of 12 million naira can sponsor one for M.Eng in Electrical Engineering at Memorial University?

Thanks in anticipation of your reply?

Good afternoon guys. Please how much total in naira do I need to have in my account to be given visa for self-funded program in M.Eng Electrical and Computer Engineering in cheap schools like Memorial University? I mean the total amount including feeding and accommodation. I want to check if it's what I can afford. Thanks in anticipation of your reply.

Lekiboboe:

Its possible they are not accepting student anymore for this year.

I would suggest you shift your attention to other schools, you might even be able to get a Funded Masters in those other schools

There are lots of Canadian UNIVERSITIES that offers Masters in Electrical Engineering with concentration in Energy Systems

Go to google and type

"Professor of Energy systems Canada"

You gonna see schools like

McMaster University
University of Alberta
Carleton University
Memorial University
York University
University of Toronto
Simon Fraser University
Dalhousie University
etc.

Go through the post in the link below for guides on how you can check for these Professors and their profile etc. before sending your Cold Mails to them

Good luck!
Thank you very much for your reply. I really appreciate

Hi Chief,

Based on your post, i wanna ask you some questions;

1) The mail you sent to the PROFS at the U of Waterloo, was it a Cold Mail?

2) The Research Areas of those Professors, does it align with your research interests, prior research experience and relevant work experience in Electrical Engineering or whatever field you intend to do your Thesis-based MASTERS?

3) Did you attach your ACADEMIC CV and your TRANSCRIPT (unofficial) to the the mail you sent to the Professors?

4) Did you send a SOFT REMINDER to those PROFS. that didn't respond to you?

5) What is the name of that Thesis-based Masters Program at U of Waterloo?
Hello bro/sis, in answer to your questions:
1. Yes they were cold mails
2. Yes their area of research interest align with mine.
3. Yes I attached my CV and transcript
4. Yes I just sent a reminder email this morning
5. The name of the program is Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a concentration in Energy Systems.
Thank you

Good evening house. Please I want to apply for a thesis based masters at the University of Waterloo, but the professors I contacted did not respond. So, I wrote an email to the graduate coordinator, who told me that I can go ahead and apply, that they will circulate my application to professors in my field to know if anyone will accept to supervise me and I should indicate the profs I want to work with in my application. He also said that if no prof accepts to supervise my work, they will not consider my application.

I want to seek the inputs of the gurus in the house on whether I should go ahead and apply or not. I have a B.Sc CGPA of 4.32/5.0 in Electrical Engineering. And i have about 2+ years of work experience spanning the telecoms and oil industry.
Guys please I need someone's advice on this. Please help a brother

Good evening house. Please I have interest in doing my masters in Electrical Engineering in the US. I have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a CGPA of 4.32/5, finished in 2016.
Please gurus in the house, what are my chances of securing funding with this profile if I do well in my GRE? And what are the schools that are more likely to offer funding in this Electrical?

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to all fresh hires that have received APL and to those who will receive APL. Congratulations on your success. Wishing you a very successful career in NNPC.

NNPC is a great organisation to build a career. Work life balance and job security are largely guaranteed. I advise that you maximize whatever opportunity lies ahead and focus less on the bottlenecks in the organization. Instead, add value and be an agent of positive change in the organization. I wish you the very best.

To those who will not get APL, I say congrats anyway. Greater opportunities lie ahead. Though it might be painful, don't be discouraged. See this as a stepping stone to a beautiful life and career.

You are all successful.

To the EH who are still expectant, I wish you all good luck. We will read your testimonies soon.

Xfire

@Xfire please could you reply my DM. I need your advice on an important issue sir. Thanks in anticipation

Good morning all,

Please I need a piece of advice from my esteemed fellow Nairalanders. By the grace of God, I was among those that received the APL for GT. However, I am in Poland now on scholarship for my M.Sc, which will properly kick off by the end of this February. Right Now, I am confused about the choice to make. Please @Xfire, @Jarus and other experienced colleagues should help me out.

Thank you all, in anticipation of a response.
