IKEMBA NNEWI: [s] Ok, let me clarify it to you now, just incase you werent acquainted with it before! Ngige won that election! Jonathan only rigged him out cos he knew Anambra people dont really care about politics and would not resist whosoever was foisted on them! how do you explain an election that had about 1.7 million voters and a winner with less than 200K votes?? The man @ main market onitsha would be more concerned about the lossess he made on a saturday(a huge markte day which coincided with the election) than who won and lost out! Even if Ubah had been declared winner nobody would have raise an eyebrow! Anambra people dont care who's there so long he doesnt enact laws that would impede their growth in business! The day a Governor in Anambra would introduce taxies like Fashola is doing in Lagos is the day you'll see another side of them![/s] Nigeria and their mentality SMH. |
Even Abraham or Jesus Christ him self will lose election under APC in Delta state. You think Udugban (don't no the spelling) is smiling? |
Governor Martins Elechi of Ebonyi State on Friday said the only weapon available to opposition parties in the country was noise-making. He said they adopted the style of criticising government and the ruling party with the aim of frightening the people to give the impression that they are better. He added that despite their noise, the opposition would not get anywhere in their quest to wrest power. Elechi spoke with State House correspondents shortly after he met President Goodluck Jonathan in his office. “Don’t mind all the noise being made by the opposition, that is their only weapon, to frighten the people and give the impression that they are better. They are getting nowhere. So I am happy with the state of affairs and I believe we will make more progress,” he said. On the 100 years of the nation’s amalgamation, the governor said Nigeria, despite its challenges and unique features, had done well. He said since even developed nations face challenges, Nigerians should not expect the country’s journey to always be a bed of roses. The governor said the most important thing is for all citizens to have confidence in themselves and their leaders. He said, “As a nation, we have fared well, we are so populous, so heterogeneous, ethnic diversity and religious multiplicity, is not easy to galvanise such a body into a smooth organisation, called the government or a country. “So far, we have been passing through challenges. These challenges of development, poverty, illiteracy but if you think of where we were even 50 years ago not to talk of 100 years ago, compared that to where we are today, we have every reason to give thanks to God. We have done well, that is my honest impression. “There are challenges ahead, even developed nations have challenges. Therefore we should not expect it to be a bed of roses always. The more we try, I think the better the result, but we must be patient and steadfast. We should have confidence in ourselves, in the leadership of the nation. It is a matter of time. “Look at the economic indices that is being quoted, Nigeria is now surpassing South Africa in spite of all the challenges we have within and democracy is waxing.” Elechi described recent report that he opposed the planned national conference as an organised attempt by the opposition to pitch him against the establishment. http://www.punchng.com/news/noise-making-opposition-parties-only-weapon-elechi/ |
This is exactly what we avoided by saying no to APC in Anambra state |

Personal ambition will tear APC apart. |
Nice move by COAS |

Op is high on cheap gum |
This is very dissapointing because christians and churches can take care of themselves. Let him create jobs with that sum of money. After building the church, will people worship in hunger and unemployment? Will d church building maintain itself or will it become a ministry under Osun state govt? Later, he will vote 100 million naira to build a mosque to balance the equation of christians to muslims. Nigeria is a circular state and let morons like Aregbe in government stop causing religious strifes by their idiotic actions. |
Gboliwe: Most Nairalanders are hypocrites! Fact!!I concur |
geeez: For Aregbesola I'm not sure this is necessaryAREGBESOLA THE CALAMITY GOVERNOR That monkey called Aregbe is definitely a fanatic who ought to be in a zoo. It is unfortunate that an ape is occupying Osun Government House. |
Awka—Anambra State on new year day witnessed the birth of no fewer than 200 babies across the state, the wife of the governor, Mrs. Margret Obi, said. The governor’s wife made the disclosure while presenting gift items and undisclosed amount of cash to 15 of the babies in Awka. The gifts presentation ceremonies were done across the three senatorial zones of the state. Mrs Obi, represented by Dr Henrietta Agbata, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, said no fewer than 200 women were delivered of babies on Jan. 1 in the state. She then urged the mothers to exclusively breastfeed the babies for at least six months. The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the state’s first baby of the year was a female, named Chinemerem Ezinwanne. She was delivered at the Primary Health Centre, Awka, at exactly 12 a.m. and weighed 3.2kg. Her parents, Mr Oliver and Mrs Ebele Ezinwanne from Okpo Village, Ekwulobia, expressed happiness over the cash and gifts from the governor’s wife. Other babies who received gifts from the governor’s wife include Chinualumogu Chukwu, a male baby delivered at the Holy Rosary Specialist Hospital and Maternity, Waterside, Onitsha at 1.58 a.m., weighed 3.5kg. Another New Year baby, Favour Ezeani, a female, weighed 3.7kg and was delivered at 2.05 a.m. at Enugu- Ukwu General Hospital. The parents of Chinualumogu, from Nibo in Awka South and Abagana in Njikoka Local Council areas respectively, thanked the governor’s wife for the gesture. Some of the items donated to the babies included diapers, toiletries, beverage, cartons of milk, clothes, sanitary pads and blankets. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/01/anambra-records-birth-200-babies-jan-1/ |
geeez: And Obanikoro sold BRF the Range right? We are not talking about keke napepe here o |
Aregbesola tried to copy from Peter Obi but got it all wrong |
asha 80: peter obi's case is different....those monies he gave to the church are for schools and hospitals that government siezed from the churches in the early 70s all in the name of make education available to poor people...of course as with most things with govt nigeria they ran those institutions down..obi simply handed back those schools and hospitals back to their original owners(the churches)...it is just common sense that government to should assist the churches to rebuild those institutions back to their previous or appreciable level since govt ran it down in the first instance.......the people in the east that did or are doing what aregbesola is doing is rochas that is building an ecumenical centre in owerri and orji uzor kalu that built a mosque for muslims in umuahia.I concur |
Pukkah: The action of Aregbesola has been fairly criticized whereas some people have glossed over and even defended Peter Obi's and Akapbio's millions of naira donations to churches. You are short sited Obi donation and that of Aregbe rascal has no coloration. Pls do hold your governor accountable for mismanaging your money Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has within the last two days handed over cheques totalling N220m to churches in the state to run their schools and hospitals. The governor on Wednesday gave a cheque of N10m to the Anglican Bisho0p of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, for the renovation of the Amichi Diocesan Hospital. |
This is for bigots associating their madness with Peter Obi Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has within the last two days handed over cheques totalling N220m to churches in the state to run their schools and hospitals. The governor on Wednesday gave a cheque of N10m to the Anglican Bisho0p of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, for the renovation of the Amichi Diocesan Hospital. Ikeakor, who described Obi as a blessing not just to Anambra State but to humanity at large, prayed to God to raise more people like him for the edification of society. The governor had on Tuesday toured some missionary institutions, where he gave out cheques totaling N120m. On Wednesday, he continued with the visits and had given out N100m before cutting short the visits to attend to students of the Anambra State University that were protesting the killing of a female student at Igbariam campus. Wednesday’s tour took him to St. Raphael’s School Abatete, where he presented a cheque of N10m to them; Premier Secondary School, Unubi where he presented a cheque of N10m; Mother of Mercy Secondary School, Azigbo, where he promised to support the school; Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, where he presented a cheque totaling N60m for various projects. In all the institutions the Governor visited, especially schools returned to the missionaries, he lamented the level of dilapidation, regretted and apologised for the takeover of the schools and pledged government’s continued support to them until they were restored to their original glory. The governor explained that he was supporting the mission institutions because they served the people of Anambra State. At Mother of Mercy Girls Secondary School, Azigbo, Bishop Hilary Okeke of Catholic Diocese of Nnewi commended Obi for his support for the education, health and other sectors. |
