Politics › Kanuris, Fulanis, And Hausas Are Boko Haram—sheikh Ahmad Gumi by gratiaeo(op): 8:40pm On Jan 19, 2015
Regarding the Boko Haram menace in the north, the cleric further acknowledged that it is a problem of the northern region of the country and more specifically the Muslim population. “Kanuris, Fulanis and Hausas are the Boko Haram," Gumi told SaharaTV. The government initially thought it wass a northern problem, leave them let them kill themselves.”
During this weekend’s SaharaTV broadcast, which kicked off the platform's 2015 Nigerian presidential election coverage, many of the most critical discussions were centered around not just the politics leading up to the contest, but the incessant Boko Haram militancy in the northern part of the country, a violence that has seemingly intensified in recent weeks.
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, one of Nigeria’s top Islamic clerics, known for his strong and often controversial opinions, spoke to Sahara TV at length about the insecurity crisis and its effect on the political landscape in Nigeria.

Recently, Gumi was quoted as saying that he is not a politician and does not have sympathy for any of the political parties, but warns the two main presidential candidates, President Jonathan and Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) against contesting in the presidential elections this year.

Gumi additionally suggested that Muslims in the north sit down to tackle the issue, supported by the government, and the government supported by the international community. “Coordination between these three will lead to an end to Boko Haram," he stated.

Also touching on the recent Charlie Hebdo incident in France, which left many writers and artists at the satirical magazine dead, Gumi stated clearly that the Qur’an does not support violence. “Leniency beautifies everything and violence tarnishes everything," he said, quoting the Prophet Muhammed. “The Qur’an does not encourage anyone to pick arms and fight.”

Gumi however also said that people should not hide behind freedom of speech to condemn other people’s faith.

Nice questions I must confess you have asked the aforementioned persons. But as the saying goes "whatsoever is good for a Greek is also good for a Ugandan". my exact point is true to the fact these people are looters of very few comparisons.... I think in order to demonstrate full equity other Nigerian leaders such as
gen. Ibrahim babangida
gen. sani abacha
gen Mohammadu buhari
thie*f olusegun obasanjo et al... also have similar if not more inductive questions to answer
Thank you my brother! Those asking for GEJ $20b should first show us Obasanjo $16b.
GEJ did not stole from Nigeria, he took what lightly belong to him. Anybody with contrary opinion should head to court

If APC insist on presenting an illiterate certificateless general to Nigeria they must be ready to accept any result that comes their way during and after election, because there is no way an unqualified candidate will rule Nigeria.

Politics › Aregbesola To Run His Office With N18.6 Billion In 2015 by gratiaeo(op): 6:23pm On Jan 16, 2015
Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the Chief of Staff to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, on Friday disclosed that the budget for the Governor’s Office for 2015 is N18,645,514,610.

Oyetola disclosed this in Osogbo, while defending the budget of the Governor’s Office before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

According to him, ‘’N6,925,000,000 is for recurrent expenditure and its capital expenditure is proposed at the sum of N11,720,514,610.

‘’The budget size for the year represents a 36.13 per cent reduction in the size of the budget for year 2014,’’ Oyetola explained.

He said the Office of the Governor proposed to raise N3,025,000,000 as revenue through tender fees, registration of contractors, capital receipts and from other sources.

According to Oyetola, N1,159,000,000 is expected to be expended on salaries, allowances and other remuneration of career officers and political office holders in the Office of the Governor.

The sum of N3,775,000,000 is expected to be spent on general administration of bureaus and agencies in the Office of the Governor, as part of overhead costs.

The payment of salaries to the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Judges, the State Independent Electoral Commission and others would gulp N2billion.

Reports showed that N11,720,514,610 was proposed to cater for the execution and implementation of projects and programmes of agencies and bureaus in the Office of the Governor.

The chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Kamil Oyedele, promised that the house would give the budget a critical and accelerated consideration and passage.

Oyedele also appreciated the House for their patience during the presentation and defence of the budget by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Reports also had it that the House of Assembly ended the week-long presentation and hearing of budgets by the MDAs in the state on Friday.

Politics › APC Rejects Plan To Shelve Election In Borno, Adamawa, Yobe by gratiaeo(op): 8:20pm On Jan 14, 2015
https://media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2013/04/600x402xLai-Mohammed.jpg.pagespeed.ic.yQlEgV60_S.jpg

Amid uncertainty over the possibility of elections holding in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states next month, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, against any plan to not conduct elections in the troubled North-East states.
On Monday, PREMIUM TIMES reported INEC’s condition for elections in the three states under emergency rule. Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to Attahiru Jega, the Commission Chairman, said unless security of INEC’s staff is guaranteed, elections will not be conducted in the three states.
The APC Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES, reiterated the opposition party’s call for elections in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
Mr. Mohammed said: “The issue is appearing as a ploy to ensure the tide of Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states is not stemmed so as to provide an excuse for not holding elections there.
“Federal Government and INEC know what they are doing. They are playing hide and seek game in this issue. Some days ago, the outgoing REC in Borno said only 12 of the 27 local government areas of the state would have elections. Later, he allegedly reversed himself, saying the elections would hold only in two.”
“If elections are not held in the North-east (Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states), it favours them (PDP). Everybody knows how strong APC is in those states. So not having elections there is an act of causing us disadvantage. They have seen the figures of collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs. They are terrified.”
Mr. Mohammed denied he was categorically accusing INEC of conspiracy with the PDP-controlled Federal Government to manipulate the process of elections to favour PDP, only because he had no evidence to back the claim.
“I am not saying INEC is working in cahoots with the PDP to manipulate the electoral process. But, this is our position, if eventually elections are not held in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states, it confirms that INEC and the Federal Government have conspired to disenfranchise citizens of those states, most of whom are APC supporters, so as to give PDP undue advantage in the presidential election,” he said.

If it wasnt for the selfless struggle and sacrifice and bravery of NADECO democracy would not have been firmly planted and an otuoke canoe builder would not be enjoying the values of it.

GEJ, foolish as usual, mis-identified and mis-fired. He gives honors to thieves and he debases heroes of society. His rise to Governorship alone, not to mention VP and then President should be credited to the struggles fought by NADECO to displace military rule and establish civilian rule.

Gej is sorrounded by Ibos, naturally he thinks and speak like them. He then wonders why not a single Yoruba Oba is interested in him.
