is common. But your perspective of achievement is not the same with theirs. You might build a house in Nigeria and someone travel to 100 countries. The one who travelled has achieved as well. Besides when you live in Uk you would not want to come back and live in Nigeria with all its chaos. N8gerians always believe in money in the bank, you know amassing wealth and properties but what of living good, quality and a sane life in an organized society?
Look at the BBN guy that died, probably had millions in the Bank but died due to negigence.
If this happened to a homeless man in Uk, ambulance will land and take him to hospital then emergency doctors will work all round to make sure he survives. This is somebody that is poor but treated like a king. Uk is the greatest leveller, a model society to follow. So therefore many people dont care about marriage, houses, cars and money in the bank, they just want to live in a society that has their interest at heart.
You obviously did not get me at all!
I said they have nothing in the bank, literally...
They are barely surviving, and have nothing there as well
Heavily in Debt etc. Etc.. over 40yrs in UK, the least
Grand child is 30yrs+ in the UK, is that not extreme?

I don't get you
If the graduates finished late, the one that finished early in the UK as a citizen, shouldn't he have something doing?
Are you inadvertently not saying the same thing I'm saying like this..?

It is very possible. Wealthy Nigerians do it very well. Buy citizenship of a small country with Passport that allows you enter various countries visa free.

People buy citizenship of certain countries for between $100k to $500k. They call it citizenship by investment.
You don't have to Be super wealthy, I know this firsthand. That's all I can say.
Connect can be a powerful something.

I have a cousin who will soon be 60. I doubt if she's built a house. She has only a daughter who became a single mum at the age of 18 or so. A nigerian guy took advantage of her for the benefit of papers.

Yes, she may have no real material achievements but I love her to bits, and I'm sure many of the family feel the same way. She and my sister are probably the 2 matriarchs of the family.

Many a time, money does not measure how truly successful one I am not judging you for using material things to judge those who japa for that was why they did.

My cousin opened her home to many who japa'd. She was a foundation for her 2 younger brothers and 2 of my younger ones who did. She's ready to prepare a nigerian feast for your event. She's very loving and giving. If you're not ready to spend an hour on the phone, don't dare pick her call grin grin
You did not get what I was saying, go back and read it again... As well as my other comments and replies here.
These people are too Poor. One almost 70 if not more than now, has no Home right now. Lived in his aged mother's house for years, on and Off.(Note I am not rich either, not At alll.)
but these things you mentioned that your aunty does or did in the past, none of them can never ever do it for anybody else. They not United, they are people who don't believe in the idea of giving other people anything at all. Even if they can easily afford it

I said my immediate family members there have British passport and are British citizens, Confirmed.
I also said that I went to the UK (London) for the first time in 2007, as a teenager.
I did University schooling outside nigeria, though still within africa.
Any exposed Person knows that with money (not necessarily a lot of money) and the right connection, you can get another country's passport, Very common runs... #CommonKnowledge!

And even if I have never had any of these things, nor ever had a visa, if i have money and the right Connection, I can Still get another passport/citizenship.

Why did you come at me like that?? Like an illiterate local, foolish fellow? Do I know you before?
If you want to make a point, you can do so Normally
You had no point to make obviously. You were driving at nothing, you are abnormal psychologically

Not being religious? Lol that one no mean.
I highlighted that to say that religion doesn't eat their money nor time... Also to Juxtapose his own life to the religious ones who are still poor wretched people.
Also there a lot of irreligious people making it, or at least that are ok. Note, this is UK - a western society - we are talking about here.

I have not been to the airport save UK

But there are alot of definitions to success

For some it's children, building house, buying a car, or getting rich

But for some people it's none of those,
If they can be healthy, without one naira in their pockets, it's still success

From what I read, op might be thinking in terms of luxury wealth or material prosperity

But many people don't count all those things anymore, and you will agree with me that
Some even count their GIFT OF LIFE as a success
Kai! #facePlams

And how do you Know this much detailshuh They are living a better life than you regardless.
I know because they are blood relatives.
Better life than me? Well, a better society, Yes.
But in comparison of think I've done better, and I'm still literally far younger than all of them.

The main point here is that, people who have been in the UK since 1980, even the 35y old guy had been independent since 2009, 2010 (living there since 1989 as a baby) nothing nothing at all in life.
It's very extreme for me, so i wanna see if it's just me that knows something like this. If you know some, tell me pls. Don't feel stabbed in the heart by what I said, I'm not shaming here at all.

Putting my self in the situation of the youngest, If I had emigrated to the UK say since 2010, 2011 as a man in my early 20's, at the very least, no matter how bad, I would be very settled by now!
This is what I'm driving at

Do you live there in the UK with them to know they don't have any thing over there as well?
They invest there in the UK and enjoy the dividends there. One asked me how much will tenants pay him if he built house in Owerri that he wouldn't make easily in the pounds if he invested in UK.
these are people I know very well, like since birth...
I've been there too myself personally, though been a while, say late 2000's, and I saw things with my eyes.
They have absolutely nothing there.
No house, some are a bit extreme sef, and they have nothing.

Only one woman who has a son, (an aunt) is a bit okay. I can excuse her because she had to raise a Child, singlehandedly. So you see I'm weighing the situation in a balanced way. Also she contributes a huge part to taking care of an old mother...

But I will also note that religion is a factor. All of them but two, are in a very strict religion that somewhat discourages wealth and doing things for your life.
Even the youngest ( the Old Woman's grandchild) that's not religious at all, already a university graduate by the age of 22, 23. Has nothing going.
this one is a half-brother, and his mother was based in Nigeria her whole life

Very abnormal and Crazy, all of them

Pls don't look at the way I write, I always rush when I write, I make typos a lot. I edit it later when I calm down to reread it

Now Secondly, I'm not writing this to shame them, I only ask if you know people like this that are close to you, blood relatives, close friends or family friends... Cos it occurred to me.
In my own case, these people are very religious..., the religion played a major factor too as to who they are.
Cos no matter how UK bad, you that were there since early 80's, 90's (the oldest ones, 1970's, 1960's) and don't have children, or spouse, should at least be okay... Do you see where I'm going now?
Is it clearer?

Sorry I couldn't post this in travel section, I've been banned there till next year
All of us want to japa, and many of us have families that live and are based abroad.

Something occurred to me that I wanted to share. Do you know any immediate close family members, blood relatives or friends that have been living in the UK for over 25 years? the eldest, a 90+ old woman, has been living there for over 65 years and they have no achievements?
Like no house there, no Sure Jobs, only one has a Child, the remaining are unmarried with no children... except the old woman of course, whose children are the ones we are talking of.
The youngest, a 35yr old man, has nothing, lived there since he was 2, 3 years since 1989, '88

No Money, living from paycheck to paycheck, odd jobs. No investment, property, House or whatever... Nothing nothing in Nigeria either...
They are very abnormal, and are not United at all, they don't relate with each other.
All these people have British Passports o, all of them! They are all British citzens

what will I gain if I lie bro? Will add money or reduce money from my account? I graduated 2014, from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Edo state.

The reason for asking is because people make up stories a lot here, even if they will not gain anything from it. A lot of people are mentally ill here, and sometimes tell very realistic untrue stories

Well, I have always wanted to be an electrical engineer. So to achieve such goal, I went through primary school, I became a science student in secondary school, and I spent 5 years in one of the prestigious university in Nigeria where I studied Electrical engineering. My head dey hot for book then.. No jokes.

But after my nysc I noticed I was chasing a false dream. I got a job at nepa office (7 years ago) A whole graduate like will be carrying ladder up and down under hot sun for just 35k salary. Landlords, street niggas and even market women will be raining insult on me whenever I come to disconnect their lights for not paying their bills.

Then I said to myself, Is this how I will continue living my life? Then I declared a war against poverty and since then my life changed for good. I traveled all the way to South Africa to join HK.

Today I'm a proud bomber making my money. I will use my certificate to work probably in my next life. I conquered poverty 6 years ago and I don't see myself going back there in the next 600 years to come.

Nigeria is really something, the so called identity issue is quite deep and even unnecessarily Difficult.

Those of us from Vastly mixed tribes, if we are out there, pls join the discussion. E.g you have Yoruba and Igbo parents.

More than 70% of Nigerians are from same tribe Parents, so they absolutely cannot relate to the Psychological angle of all this.
Nigeria being what it is, it's necessary to connect with those that are in this Situation.
Actually my focus of the thread would be children from Yoruba and other other tribes

Know this and know peace, Igbos and Yorubas are like roommates, they insult, abuse and call themselves names but they also eat from same plates, don't take online comments to heart, especially nairalanders.

Every day inter tribal marriages is going on, same chukwudi abusing Yorubas is dating Adeola, and Kunle's best friend is chidi likewise other tribes, the only exemption i observed is Fulani, do to their cultural orientation, I don't see them mix freely with other tribes, so for me it's all cruise and politicians using it to gain votes.

An interesting fact to prove my point is Nigerians in diaspora, let a South African insult a tiv man, you will see Nigerians irrespective of tribes comes to his defence, likewise Ghana etc.

The hatred is politically engineered, or it's just people catching cruise as means to survive the hardship.
Well it's not Just Igbos and Yoruba's
It could be delta and yoruba, edo and Calabar
Yoruba and Ijaw, Hausa and Calabar etc.
I just went with the classic most thought of example that would first come to anybody's mind... Igbo and Yoruba

Also the point of the thread is deeper, it's to discuss very deep issues that others may be facing too, only children from inter-tribal unions can truly understand
