24hrs later, Nigeria and Cameroon suspended drilling of oil at the maritime border till January 2024 following the attack.

The government has been advised by senior citizens to dialogue with the Pro Biafra separatists holding the Bakassi Peninsula hostage.

In Cameroon, various reports have blamed the government for the bombings and killings going on in the Peninsula.

The question is whether the BnL will accept peace talk with President Paul Biya.

At least three persons has been killed following exchange of gunfire between the Nigeria troops of Operations Still Water 3 and militant group suspected to be the Dragon Fighter Marine in Ikpankanya in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State.

Troops of Operations Still Water 3 tried to invade the militant hideout at 10am in the morning on thursday 7 December, 2023 but were faced with stiff resistance by the militant group following heavy shootout that lasted for an hour.

Three soldiers were killed with several others in critical condition while some of the militant members were said to have sustained injury.

Dragon Fighter Marine is a militant group fighting alongside the Black Marine, another militant force in the Bakassi Peninsula, the groups are alleged to be members of the Biafra Nations League, BnL.

Finland based agitator and Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, Simon Ekpa has severally described the two militant groups as Biafran Navy.

Meanwhile, suspected members of BnL on Wednesday 6 December, 2023 prevented travellers going and coming from Cameroon through illegal border crossing in Ekong Anaku, a border community in Akamkpa local government area of Cross River State, the youths armed with matchet and sticks were seen in a video burning tyres on Cameroon border road.

Mayhem broke out in Anambra State where gun battle between Unknown gunmen and security operatives in Aguluzigbo, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state which led to many dead,newspot has gathered

The intense firefight, which started early on Tuesday, continued for hours until reinforcement of combined security forces arrived to repel the attack.

The official casualty count has yet to be released. However, lifeless bodies of several security operatives were left on the scene. There were also unconscious officer who appeared to have been severely wounded during the exchange of fire.

State Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident but refrained from providing a specific casualty count, stating that the details were still being verified.

“I’m aware of the incident, but yet to confirm the casualty figure. Police operatives resisted the attack and are on the ground to restore calm and normalcy to the area,” he said.

The gunfight, which began in the morning, reportedly continued for several hours and caused panic in the neighborhood.
