Russia may be preparing a test of its new nuclear "doomsday" torpedo sometime in the coming weeks, a senior U.S. official said. U.S. intelligence monitored Russian naval vessels leaving their base and entering an Arctic testing area, the official told CNN, among which was Russia's new Belgorod nuclear submarine. The Belgorod carries the new Poseidon autonomous nuclear torpedo, a "doomsday" weapon with a massive payload and wide range, hypothetically boasting the ability to strike anywhere in the world. However, the official told the outlet that any such test would be unlikely to involve a nuclear detonation, but a malfunction in the weapon's propulsion could result in radioactive leakage The Belgorod, the first Project 09852 special-purpose nuclear-powered submarine, was commissioned in the northern Russian city of Severodvinsk, the headquarters of the Northern Fleet, according to U.S. Naval Institute News. The ship was put into active service earlier this year. The Belgorod grabbed headlines as being the first submarine capable of launching the Poseidon, an "Intercontinental Nuclear-Powered Nuclear-Armed Autonomous Torpedo," the largest torpedo ever created, according to naval expert H. I. Sutton. The nuclear-armed torpedo is twice as large as submarine-launched ballistic missiles and 30 times larger than a standard torpedo. The Poseidon is particularly deadly due to its essentially unlimited range and untraceable nature, making it nearly impossible to intercept, unlike some nuclear weapons launched via ballistic missile. Much about the weapon remains shrouded in mystery, however, and it's likely that the Kremlin would like to see it tested more to prove its capabilities. The weapons system made headlines in May when Dmitry Kiselyov, a presenter for state-owned media company Russia-1, threatened to use the Poseidon to destroy the United Kingdom and Ireland in a nuclear tsunami. He said the weapon's 100-megaton yield would produce a 500-meter-high radioactive tsunami that would turn the British Isles into a radioactive desert, a claim disputed by Western experts. |

Ukraine’s state electricity operator on Saturday announced blackouts in Kyiv and seven other regions of the country in the aftermath of Russia’s devastating strikes on energy infrastructure. The move comes as Russian forces continue to pound Ukrainian cities and villages with missiles and drones, inflicting damage on power plants, water supplies and other civilian targets, in a grinding war that is nearing its nine-month mark. Russia has denied that the drones it has used in Ukraine came from Iran, but the Islamic Republic’s foreign minister on Saturday for the first time acknowledged supplying Moscow with “a limited number” of drones before the invasion. Hossein Amirabdollahian claimed, however, that Tehran didn’t know if its drones were used against Ukraine and stated Iran’s commitment to stopping the conflict. READ MORE: Russian shelling damages power lines at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, Ukraine says STORY CONTINUES BELOW ADVERTISEMENT Ukrenergo, the sole operator of Ukraine’s high-voltage transmission lines, initially said in a an online statement Saturday that scheduled blackouts will take place in the capital and the greater Kyiv region, as well as several regions around it– Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv. Later in the day, however, the company released an update saying that scheduled outages for a specific number of hours aren’t enough and instead there will be emergency outages, which could last an indefinite amount of time. Ukraine has been grappling with power outages and disruption of water supplies since Russia started unleashing massive barrages of missile and drone strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure last month. Moscow has said those came in response to what it alleged were Ukrainian attacks on Crimea, the region that Russia illegally annexed in 2014. Ukraine has denied those allegations. |

Mr Kjeldal, who was described as 'a very treasured and loved member' of his family, is believed to have arrived in Ukraine earlier this year. Social media posts suggest he had been wounded in action in July - suffering near-fatal gunshot wounds - before bravely returning to the frontlines in September. Trevor Kjeldal, 40, from Brisbane, was reportedly killed in action in the Donbas region of Ukraine this week He was dubbed 'the Ninja' on social media, after causing a stir during his time on the frontlines When he was injured, he suffered shrapnel wounds to the head. However, he said he had no plans to return to Australia and wanted to remain in Ukraine until the war is over. 'I've beat the odds once, so let's just see if I can do it again,' Mr Kjedal said at the time. Mr Kjedal is believed to have been serving in the 49th 'Select Carpathian' battalion of the Ukrainian army. Just last month he told a Nine News crew he felt compelled to help in the war. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday cast Russia’s war in Ukraine as a sacred conflict with Satan, warning that Moscow could send all its enemies to “the eternal fires of Gehenna.” (SF: Gehenna is a biblical region mentioned in the Old Testament, the “hell” where sinners will be punished, after death). Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine tens of thousands of people have been killed. This is Russia’s biggest confrontation with the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 when the Cold War superpowers came closest to nuclear war. Medvedev, who once cast himself as a liberal modernizer as president from 2008 to 2012, said Moscow was fighting “crazy Nazi drug addicts” in Ukraine backed by Westerners who he said had “saliva running down their chins from degeneracy”. Ukraine and the West have repeatedly dismissed President Vladimir Putin’s assertions that Ukraine is run by fascists who have persecuted Russian speakers. Instead, they cast the war as a brutal land grab by Moscow. In a message marking Russia’s Day of National Unity, Medvedev said the task of the fatherland was to “stop the supreme ruler of Hell, whatever name he uses – Satan, Lucifer or Iblis”. Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said Russia had different weapons, including the ability to “send all our enemies to fiery Gehenna”. Since the war began, Medvedev’s rhetoric has become increasingly fierce though his published views sometimes chime with thinking at the top levels of the Kremlin elite. Satan’s weapons, Medvedev said, were “intricate lies. And our weapon is the truth. That is why our cause is right. That is why victory will be ours! Happy Holidays!” |
South Korea scrambles jets after detecting 180 North Korean warplanes north of border The maneuvers came after Pyongyang fired more than 80 rounds of artillery into the sea overnight, and the launch of multiple missiles into the sea on Thursday, including a possible failed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Nov. 4, 2022, 8:34 AM WAT / Source: Reuters By Reuters South Korea’s military said it scrambled fighter jets after detecting about 180 North Korean warplanes flying north of the military border over four hours on Friday. The North Korean aircraft flew north of the so-called tactical measure line, drawn to up 12 miles north of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), South Korea’s military said in a statement. South Korea scrambled 80 aircraft, including, F-35A stealth fighters, in response. About 240 aircraft participating in the Vigilant Storm air exercises with the United States continued the drills, the military said. opamoses1:I'm not referring to WW2 ok Ethiopia 1896 Did you know that E.thiopians trained Lions to capture the soldiers of the e.nemy and f.ought side by side with Cheetahs, bees, and lions? E.thiopian soldiers with their fighting l.ions. The E.thiopians went to war with dangerous a.nimals and insects such as bees, wasps, lions, or cheetahs trained to capture the soldiers of the e.nemy camp, which enabled them to win all the wars of colonization against them and to be the only country in the world to have never been colonized. At the battle of Adwa Ethiopian warriors skilled in sword fighting called Shotel destroyed the invading Italian soldiers in hand to hand combat. The Battle of Adwa was the climactic battle of the First Italo-Ethiopian War. The Ethiopian forces defeated the Italian invading force on Sunday 1 March 1896, near the town of Adwa. The decisive victory thwarted the campaign of the Kingdom of Italy to expand its colonial empire in the Horn of Africa. The Ethiopians surrounded the Italians for two weeks and, upon Empress Tayitu's advice, cut off the fort's water supply. The Italian commander agreed to surrender if they would be allowed to leave with their firearms. Menelik agreed that they could leave the garrison unharmed. |

Iran is preparing to provide Russia with approximately 1,000 additional weapons, including surface-to-surface short range ballistic missiles and more attack drones. CNN reported about this with reference to officials who closely monitor Iran’s weapons program. The shipment is being closely monitored because it would be the first case of Iran sending advanced precision guided missiles. They note that this could give the Kremlin a substantial boost on the battlefield. The last shipment of weapons included about 450 drones, which the Russians have already used, officials said. As previously reported, the Air Force Command reported that Ukrainian forces have already shot down more than 300 Iranian Shahed-136 drones. While the precise timing of when the shipment will arrive is unclear, but it will definitely be delivered before the end of the year. As previously reported, Russian troops use Shahed-136 kamikaze drones to attack infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. The U.S. recently confirmed that Iran is sending its instructors to the occupied Crimea and the territory of the Russian Federation to train the Russians. At the same time, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Iranian instructors are teaching Russians to use other types of “Arash-2” drones. At the same time, US officials have no information on whether Iran is going to transfer missiles to the Russian Federation for the war against Ukraine. The Air Force Command reported that the enemy may place Iranian missiles near the northern border of Ukraine. China is a very cowardice country, I remembered how Soviet pilots flew their bombers over the Yalu river and protected the people's liberation army from war mongering USA air power during the Korea war, I'm very disappointed with china

The United States is considering sending older HAWK air defense equipment from storage to Ukraine to help it defend against Russian drone and cruise missile attacks, two US officials told Reuters. The HAWK interceptor missiles would be an upgrade to the Stinger missile systems – a smaller, shorter range air defense system – that the United States has already sent to blunt Russia’s invasion. The Biden administration would use the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) to transfer the HAWK equipment which is based on Vietnam-era technology, but has been upgraded several times. The PDA allows the United States to transfer defense articles and services from stocks quickly without congressional approval in response to an emergency. Reuters was unable to determine how many HAWK systems and missiles the United States has available to transfer. The White House declined to comment. The HAWK system is the predecessor to PATRIOT missile defense system made by Raytheon Technologies which remains off the table for Ukraine, US officials have told Reuters. US President Joe Biden pledged to Ukraine President Volodomyr Zelenskyy that Washington would provide Ukraine with advanced air systems after a devastating missile barrage from Russia earlier this month. The United States is pressing allies to hastily build for Ukraine a patchwork air defense network using NATO-compatible equipment — some ultra-modern, others older — to protect strategic targets from Russian strikes. Washington has promised to provide Ukraine with the short- to medium-range, medium-altitude NASAMS air defense system, with the first two having already arrived. Ukraine receives advanced US air defense system President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview broadcast on Sunday (25 September) that Ukraine had received sophisticated air defence systems from the United States. Germany has delivered the first of the latest-generation Iris-T defense systems, but Kyiv will have to wait until next year for three others that have been promised. The medium-range, high-altitude Iris-T system is designed to protect a small city. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that Spain intends to send four HAWK launchers. The United States would likely initially send interceptor missiles for the HAWK system to Ukraine because it was unclear if enough US launchers were in good condition, one US official told Reuters. The US systems have been in storage for decades. A PDA is being considered for later this week, US officials have said. One US official said it would likely be about half the size of the recent security assistance packages which have been around $700 million. It was not immediately clear if HAWK interceptor missiles would be included, but US officials have previously cautioned that size and composition of military aid packages can change rapidly. Since the 24 February Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine, which Moscow calls a “special military operation”, the United States has sent around $17.6 billion worth of security assistance to Kyiv.
