Foreign AffairsHeavy Battle Rages In East As Russia Captures Coal Mines Near Krasnohorivka by greatness77(op): 5:52pm On Jul 19, 2023
Frontline report: Russian forces seize control of coal mine, yet lose half of troops
Russian forces captured coal mines near Krasnohorivka, but at a heavy cost: after withdrawing, Ukrainians sent out heavy artillery fire, destroying half of the Russian manpower and reportedly half of tanks and armored vehicles.

BY
REPORTING FROM UKRAINE
19/07/2023

Today, there is a lot of news from the east. Here, Russian forces have opened a completely new axis of advance and decided to attack territories they had failed to advance into for over 8 years. Krasnohorivka, a powerful stronghold located between Avdiivka and Marinka, has been prepared to withstand destructive frontal assaults like its sister strongholds. This is why the Russians had not attempted to attack it until today.

However, before they could attack the stronghold itself, the Russians needed to secure their flanks and eliminate all Ukrainian positions in the fields. Their first target of choice was a coal mine located 1 km south of Krasnohorivka. The coal mine, situated in the field, consists of 5 separate facilities with numerous trench networks strategically positioned to defend against potential attacks.

In order to breach this defense, the Russian forces relied heavily on the element of surprise. They refrained from conducting intense reconnaissance-in-force operations to prevent the Ukrainians from reinforcing this region. The initial wave of attack involved at least seven tanks and armored fighting vehicles. Judging from the water in the background, it appears that Russian forces advanced along the Lozova River, splitting into two groups and attacking the strong point from 2 sides.

The first group’s objective was to attack the Ukrainian flanks and divert attention away from the second group, which aimed to establish control over the largest facility. By gaining control over this well-fortified facility surrounded by trenches, the Russians hoped to render the Ukrainians unable to defend their position.

However, the Russian assault units faced intense artillery fire, and the coal mine facilities suffered severe damage, offering little cover for the advancing Russian forces. To compensate for their losses and fill the trenches, Russian forces had to reinforce the ground units with infantry, preventing the Ukrainians from exploiting the empty trenches.
As the Russians approached, the Ukrainians reduced the intensity of their artillery fire to avoid hitting their own troops. Observing the decrease in artillery support and facing another wave of Russian attacks, the Ukrainians withdrew to minimize losses. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Ukrainian artillery crews unleashed devastating fire.

Subsequently, Ukrainian drone operators were deployed with the main objective of targeting the exposed Russian forces in the trenches. Geolocated footage confirms that few Russians managed to escape the grenades raining down on them. Once the trenches were more or less cleared and the Russians sought shelter, Ukrainian drone operators could execute more sophisticated maneuvers, such as dropping grenades into the buildings’ openings.

Ultimately, Russian forces gained control over the coal mine facilities, but at a significant cost. Reportedly, they lost half of their tanks and armored fighting vehicles, which they had to withdraw mid-fight due to heavy shelling, opting to send in more infantry instead. Based on the pre-fight and post-fight footage, it can be estimated that the Russians employed around 120 troops and lost more than half of them as well.

Foreign AffairsRussia Deploys Over 100k Soldiers To Lyman And Kupiansk Axis by greatness77(op): 7:08pm On Jul 17, 2023
Russia has gathered more than 100,000 soldiers of its occupation forces on the Lyman-Kupiansk axis.

Source: Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the national 24/7 newscast

Quote: "The enemy has gathered a very powerful group of forces – more than 100,000 personnel, over 900 tanks, over 555 artillery systems, and 370 multiple-launch rocket systems – on the Lyman-Kupiansk axis.

For context, Russia deployed 120,000 personnel in Afghanistan at the height of its campaign there.

[Russia] has consolidated its air assault units, its best motorised infantry units, private military companies [on the Lyman-Kupiansk axis], and has deployed territorial forces as reserves there."

Details: Cherevatyi stressed that Ukrainian soldiers are holding the line and preventing Russian forces from taking the initiative in the area.

The last paragraph of your article is all that matters
The conclusion of the whole matter is that with all the hype of Russian Air Force it still can't achieve air superiority over Ukraine
Man thiiiinkkkk!! Did you know why Russia don't want to gain air superiority in Ukraine?
It's because USA and the west have planned to enter the war after they noticed Russia have exhausted her weapons, ok, I know America and Britain very well they must find reason or draw one useless red line that Russia will find very difficult not to cross, but thank God Putin knows this that's why 90% of Russian aircraft are still intact 😁😁😁😁 they will use it to drop nukes in Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, Paris,London and Berlin 😁😁
Russia is still holding 20% of Ukraine territory
Can you go ahead and masturbate with your opinion because it doesn't count, Russia is fighting with over 31 countries
Foreign AffairsUkrainian Pilot Told The Sunday Times That His Country's Air Force Is So Outclas by greatness77(op): 3:57pm On Jul 17, 2023
A Ukrainian pilot described his struggle against much more powerful Russian aviation.
The pilot told The Sunday Times about the limited impact that Ukraine's outdated gear can have.
Russia has changed its aviation tactics, which is proving difficult for Ukraine in its offensive.
A Ukrainian pilot told The Sunday Times that his country's air force is so outclassed by Russia that it can "do nothing to them in the air."

The pilot, identified only by his rank of major and his first name Maksym, told the publication on Saturday that his team has been struggling in its missions around Bakhmut against a far better-armed Russia.

He and his fellow airmen fly a Soviet-designed Mil Mi-8 helicopter, a model which entered service in the late 1960s and is far less effective than Russia's modern helicopter fleet.

On top of outmoded gear, they also have limited ammo. Maksym said his crew flies only one mission a day because they don't have enough rockets for more attacks. The problem, he said, extends from helicopters to fighter jets, where Ukraine has nothing to counter Russia's newest models.

"The Russian jets are much better quality than ours," Maksym told The Times. "It's like comparing a Mercedes to a Lada." A Lada is a Soviet-era car from Russia, which had a reputation for being cheap, bulky, and unreliable.

The Russians are flying a large number of advanced combat aircraft, including the Kamov Ka-52 helicopter, he added.

The Ka-52 is mainly designed for fierce battle, while the Mil Mi-8 Maksym has is designed for troop transportation rather than fighting.

"The Russians understand we can do nothing to them in the air," said Maksym. He said that half of his unit had been killed.

Maksim's comments came after reports that Russia has changed the way it uses its aviation assets as Ukraine launches its counter-offensive.

Senior Ukrainian military officials said recently they were concerned about Russia's "aviation and artillery superiority."

Russia has used helicopters to blunt Ukraine's attempts to advance using armored troop vehicles on land, which, The Financial Times reported.

A top British air force general, Chief Marshal of British Air Staff Rich Knighton, told a conference in London last week that Russia's air force "remains largely intact."

Citing British intelligence, Knighton said that Russia's air force had retained 96% of its 2,021 fixed-wing aircraft and 90% of its 899 helicopters, with losses of 86 planes and 90 helicopters.

Knighton said neither Russia nor Ukraine had been able to gain air superiority, but that Ukraine was facing "a massive challenge without air superiority and without being able to strike the adversary in the deep."

Foreign AffairsRussia Says It Has More Cluster Munitions Than USA by greatness77(op): 9:28am On Jul 16, 2023
If the United States supplies cluster munitions to Kiev, Russia's military will be forced to use similar means against the Ukrainian military in response. This was stated by the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu. The minister stressed that "Russia has cluster munitions available". “At the same time, they are much more effective than the Americans, their nomenclature is wider and more diverse,” the defense minister stressed. However, understanding the threat this weapon poses to the civilian population, Moscow has always refrained from using them during the special operation, Shoigu said
The Ukrainian army did not reach the goal of the counteroffensive in any direction. “In general, the enemy has not achieved its goals in either direction,” Shoigu said, commenting on the situation at the front during a press conference. According to Shoigu, Kiev continues to unsuccessfully try to break through the defense of the Russian army in different directions, launching several waves of attacks. Finally, Shoigu noted that the high-precision strikes that the Russian military launches against Ukrainian army reserves, including Western equipment, "significantly reduce the enemy's offensive potential."

Russian troops are advancing in four areas of the front line in eastern Ukraine amid "fierce fighting", Ukraine's Deputy Defence Minister said on Sunday.

"Fierce fighting is going on everywhere," Ganna Maliar wrote on social media, adding: "The situation is quite complicated".

"The enemy is advancing in Avdiivka, Mariinka, Lyman sectors. The enemy is also moving forward in the Svatove sector," she said.

Maliar said Ukrainian troops were advancing with "partial success" on the southern flank of Bakhmut, as well as near Berdyansk and Melitopol in southern Ukraine.

In the south, she said Ukrainian forces faced "intense enemy resistance, remote mining, deploying of reserves" and were only advancing "gradually".

"They are persistently and unceasingly creating conditions for as fast an advance as possible," she said. (AFP)

Foreign AffairsUkraine Says Iranian Drones Are Causing Them Headache by greatness77(op): 10:19am On Jun 11, 2023
The Iranian-made drones deployed by Russia to attack Ukraine are continuing to cause problems for Ukraine’s Air Force.

Source: Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for Ukraine’s Air Force, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda

Quote from Ihnat: "Iranian-made drones are a real headache. It’s still very difficult to down them.

When lots of them have been launched, they all fly along different routes, staying close to the ground, so that it’s difficult to shoot them from a plane. The drone’s speed is 150 km/h, while a fighter jet flies at a minimum of 400 km/h. [...]

ADVERTISEMENT:
And we can’t get those drones during the night using ground forces’ air defence equipment or mobile firing groups, either."

Details: Ihat said that Russia deliberately deploys these drones at night to wear down Ukrainian air defence – in particular, so that Ukraine’s defence forces expend anti-aircraft missiles to down those drones.

This allows Russian forces to determine where Ukrainian air defence systems are located, and take that into account during air-to-surface or naval-based missile strikes.

KYIV, Ukraine — The Ukrainian military has launched a long-anticipated counteroffensive against occupying Russian forces, opening a crucial phase in the war aimed at restoring Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty and preserving Western support in its fight against domination by Moscow.

Ukrainian troops, including specialized attack units armed with Western weapons and trained in NATO tactics, intensified their strikes on front-line positions in the country’s southeast on Wednesday night, according to four people in the country’s armed forces, beginning a significant push into Russian-occupied territory.

The four military personnel, including officers, spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the battlefield developments.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Ukrainian forces tried to break through the lines of the Russian army in the Zaporizhzhia region, using up to 1,500 troops and 150 armored vehicles. Shoigu’s claim could not be immediately verified.

The Zaporizhzhia region has long been seen as the most strategic and likely location of the new Ukrainian campaign.

By cutting south through the region’s flat fields, Kyiv’s forces could aim to sever the “land bridge” between mainland Russia and occupied Crimea, cutting off crucial Russian supply lines. They could also attempt to liberate the city of Melitopol, which Russia has established as the region’s occupied capital, and Enerhodar, where the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is located.

the Telegram channel RT A video of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was published, who, being in a state of panic, said that Artemivsk had fallen.

In the video, the military man is not at all shy about his thoughts, recognizing the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the battle for the city. He claims that the battle for Artemovsk (Bakhmut) can be considered lost.

“What I want to say… Bakhmut fell,” the Ukrainian said in the video.

Also from the video you can understand that its author is very scared, especially if you pay attention to his eyes.

After that, he asked everyone who knows him not to commemorate dashingly.

According to the Telegram channel “Fisherman”, fierce fighting in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) continues. To date, the fighters of PMC “Wagner” have captured the fortified area “Domino” and now the battles are going for the area “Airplane”. It is a small segment of the private sector, so the “Wagnerites” have a great chance to completely liberate the city in the coming days.

Foreign AffairsUkrainian Soldiers Recount Their Ordeals As Russian Gunners Pounds Bakhmut by greatness77(op): 1:34pm On Apr 22, 2023
Hell on earth, "the city where there is no living place" or "the hottest place in the world", this is how Bakhmut is described, the city in eastern Ukraine where the fiercest battles are taking place between the Ukrainian troops, who are trying to defend their country, and the Russian troops, interested in seizing new territories.

The descriptions belong to some young Ukrainian soldiers who lived, for no less than three months, the terror of the confrontations in Bakhmut.

No matter if it was day or night, frost or mud, cold or hot, rain or snow, holiday or ordinary day, Monday or Sunday, they were continuously on the battlefield, within the range of the Russian artillery.

They saw death through their eyes, but even worse, they saw their comrades killed by the enemy. With low morale and depleted powers, they find their last resources to withstand the invasion from the East.

Such moments were experienced by Oleh Sapig, a young lieutenant in the Ukrainian army. He is 36 years old, and the last three months have been a never ending nightmare.

"Our mission was to defend the positions in Bakhmut, to pursue the enemy and not allow the enemy to occupy new positions. The city practically no longer exists, it is destroyed, the enemy constantly attacks neighbourhood after neighbourhood, destroys all the infrastructure, the local population practically no longer exists, those who remain are forced to seek shelter in basements and, when the Russians destroy the buildings in the basement of which they found shelter, they have to leave the city. The situation is very complicated. The saddest moments are related to death to my comrades. The wounded and the dead. This is the most difficult for me. Second is the difficulty of evacuating the wounded soldiers, because it is very hard to evacuate a wounded one. (...) It is difficult to convey in words what Bakhmut means. There is no living place there. Every position is completely destroyed, from the very foundations. There is nothing left, the whole earth is burning, because of the artillery fire, because of the occupying troops," Oleh, who left the first front line during Friday, told AGERPRES.

Update is expected daily.
According to UK ministry of defense Russia has made further gains and has now highly likely advanced into the town centre, and has seized the west bank of the Bakhmutka River. Ukraine's key 0506 supply route to the west of the town is likely severely threatened. Russian regular forces, likely including airborne troops, have probably reinforced the area, and Russia is again using artillery more effectively in the sector," the U.K. Defense Ministry’s Defense Intelligence update said.
