O.P's list reeks of sentiment, obviously a chelsea fan.
Like seriously, Leighton Baines isn't even in your list? A guy that regularly takes PK's yet has missed only once in his whole career. His conversion rate is way better than Balotelli and Hazard's. You have to realize the difference between being a good player in a top club and being a good PK taker.

SportsDi Maria Is Shortsighted But Man United Need A Winger by greatwaters(op): 8:58am On Jul 15, 2014
It is no longer news that Manchester United target, Angel Di Maria has snubbed the club in favour of French champions Paris Saint Germaine. His reason being that Man United will not be playing in the highest tier of club football, UEFA champions league, nor will they compete in the Europa league. While this decision may be understandable, it is important to note its shortsightedness.

It is true that he'll be getting first team football and probably win trophies at PSG, but that will snap his chances of playing football in the most competitive league. Man United may be undergoing a rebuilding process, but with a manager in the mould of Louis Van Gaal, coupled with the signings he's making, Man United will need just this season to bounce back to European football and may even win trophies. Now, Di Maria is too shortsighted to see that.

With PSG, it will be hard to get past the quarter-finals in the UCL, but a rebuilt Man United will be a cup contender. Again Di Maria's myopia is to blame.

My message to Di Maria?

'Get your lenses on and take a cue from Louis Suarez(excluding the biting part of course), who came to Liverpool during their hibernation, made a name for himself and played a huge part in dragging them into the top four to qualify for champions league action. So, Di Maria my friend, football doesnt end in the now, there's a future to consider. And if you go on with your decision, well, best of luck. But i know that you'll be biting your nails in a season's time.'

That said, Man United still need a winger, and with Di Maria screaming PSG, other options have to be considered. The question is, should man United make do with the wingers they already have, or should they shop for one more?

Well, youngster Januzaj has been in great form for the club and is expected to be a first team player, but what about the other wingers? Ashley Young is a smouldering fire and has no more to do at United, Nani hasnt been in the best of form and may be bundled out this summer. Then comes Valencia, Oh valencia. One cannot doubt the vigour and vim he invests into his football, but can zeal alone be the answer to United's right wing? Personally, I'd say no.

So drop your opinions on Di Maria's preference of PSG, and the wingers United can go for in light of his decision, or if you think they should stick with the available wingers.

Jigga_man101: We really need that match to happen because the constant e wars is starting to get boring. I don't think it is going happen so the World Cup is going to be the deciding factor. Hopefully God answers my prayer and Nigeria and Ghana meet in the World Cup preferably semis or finals.
Lol, amen.
SportsRe: Nigeria-cameroun Rivalry Must Be Re-ignited by greatwaters(op): 8:48am On Jan 04, 2014
Jigga_man101: You might have rivalry with Cameroon but don't go around throwing sentence such as Ghana can't rival Nigeria. When history shows that Ghana tends to dominate Nigeria and Ghana has more trophies than Nigeria. Do you get my drift?

Ps having a rivalry with someone doesn't mean you are the two best, it just simply means y'all can't stand each other.
I dont want to talk about beig best, thats another case entirely. But if Nigeria doesnt think Ghana is worth having such competition with, then sorry sir, you are not our rivals.
SportsRe: Nigeria-cameroun Rivalry Must Be Re-ignited by greatwaters(op): 8:34am On Jan 04, 2014
Jigga_man101: How come Ghana doesn't have enough. From youth to senior it is Ghana and Nigeria. Considering they are the only two african countries to win U17 and U20 World Cup and they have come in 2nd place numerous times also. No other african team has even come close to third place in any youth tournament. When it comes to senior team look at our credentials. You surely don't know football
Bro, rivalry isn't just a trophy thing, its about bitter competition, always wanting to dominate a particular oppenent. I dont know how old you are, but since the 80's and 90's and early 2000's, the star match everyone in Africa would want to see is Nigeria vs cameroun. trophies alone dont make rivalry.
SportsRe: Nigeria-cameroun Rivalry Must Be Re-ignited by greatwaters(op): 8:21am On Jan 04, 2014
Jigga_man101: I agree 100% I keep hearing Ghana and Nigeria rivalry, which is absurd. Ghana and Nigeria are rivals in many areas but football is not one. You can quote me on this you can't call it rivalry when one side (Ghana) always dominate. Ghana doesn't really have a rival when it comes to african soccer.
Nigeria and cameroun have always been the big brothers in African football. If you have been a fan of football for a long time, you'll know this. Ghana doesnt have enough to rival Nigeria, when they only temporarily dominated for a few years. Its like saying the biggest rivals in the E.P.L is Man U vs chelsea when everyone knows the Long-lasting rivalry between Man U and liverpool.
SportsNigeria-cameroun Rivalry Must Be Re-ignited by greatwaters(op): 7:45am On Jan 04, 2014
Almost a decade ago, the biggest rivalry in African football was Nigeria vs Cameroun. But as time went on, both countries went on some sort of decline in football. Lately, however, they seem to be finding their footing once more, with Nigeria winnin the AFCON in past year, and both countries qualifying for world cup.

So, instead of rolling in the mire with Ghana, who are now thinking they are our rivals, lets re-kindle the old rivalry between us and cameroun, by organising a friendly after the world cup.

What do you think guys?

SportsRe: Mikel Winning AFOTY Award Will Be An Insult To African Football by greatwaters: 8:40am On Jan 03, 2014
heykims: It is January and very soon , the African footballer of the year 2013 will be named in Lagos Nigeria precisely on the 9th of January. The player to be crowned with this feat should however be very much evaluated and deemed fit to earn this prestigious honour because his personality on the field of play either in the national team or club will go a long way in speaking for African football.

CAF released the final 10-man shortlist of the contenders of this prestigious award last year and interestingly, four Nigerian players made the list. Many Nigerians and even Africans have however tipped John Obi Mikel as the possible winner evident from the fact that he won the Nations cup last year, Europa cup in Europe, participated in d Confederations cup and so on.

MY VIEW
As a Nigerian and a proud African, I see it as not just underscoring but extremely insulting to African football if a player like Mikel wins the award. How can a mere bench warmer in Europe be crowned the African footballer of the year just by virtue of the fact that his national team wins a title or his club wins the European league?

A deserving footballer of the hear should be such that is very resourceful both at home and in clubs. A reigning footballer of the year should at least even make the top three best player in his club even if he doesn't get a spot in the FIFA ranking.

Mikel Obi surely can't make the best ten in Chelsea's team despite being a senior player. I'm of the view that its better not to name anyone the footballer of the year than titling a bench warmer in Europe, what a mock, an insult I can't tolerate as an African.

Nigerians should be please stop being sentimental, selfish and self centred and canvass for a better representative for African football.

Left to me, if at all a Nigerian merits the award, it is Vincent Enyeama, the Nigeria's assistant skipper at goal but Cote d'Ivoire's Yaya Toure surely represents Africa better.

What's your view?
Lets try something new, Mikel all the way!!!

SportsRe: Argentina Prepares For Nigeria With Ghana Friendly. by greatwaters: 9:34am On Dec 31, 2013
I think Argentina is getting it wrong. Ghana's style of football is different from Nigeria's. The black stars seem 2 play more through the mid-field while the Super eagles prefer the flanks but occasionally spring surprises through mid-field.
