1. At no point in time did I declare my nationality to be an Indian. Please provide evidence that I did.

4. I never blamed the police for poor funding. Did I? I said they aren't doing their jobs. I said the government needs to reform these institution(S) that includes military, police, customs and so on. If you didn't read well, read again. I have maintained a civil argument on this thread, if you want to digress, that's your choice. I'm not going to indulge you. If you have a beef with soldiers, sorry. If you have issue with SARS.. sorry, if Navy remove your tanker, sorry. Don't blame me. Don't blame the force. Speak out to your government or get a PVC by 2019. It's that simple.

No self-respecting military will allow itself to be used as a police. The respect for the army has been dumped in the toilet in the eyes of the public after Boko haram has reduced them to mutineers and absconders. The military in Nigeria is only gallant in tackling unarmed civilians.
Nigerian soldiers do. You will have to witness firsthand how they lobby to be posted outside thier barracks. Some of them even let out cries of jubilation when they are drafted out. Fuel diversion, intimidation, border smuggling, extortion. These are some of the little pecks they can't ignore when posted.

Tanker drivers ignored the police? So what's the army going to do differently? In all my years as a Nigerian, I have never seen where MOPOL or antiriot police unit are ignored. I think you should be ashamed to be part of a country where soldiers and other military are drafted to the streets for mere domestic shuffle.

Operation python dance in the South West was for supposed criminals and cultists elements..

I should be grateful for the military who are experts at abusing and killing innocent civilians without trace? 3rd world victim syndrome is what you have.

And I should fix my police? Surely I don't sound like the government to you. And I honestly don't think you read any other stuff besides Nairaland threads.

1. The Federal Government is responsible for the military in terms of funding and equip. You can't blame the military for Boko Haram. Soldiers weild outdated AK47 rifles, outdated World War 2 T72 tanks. How many tanks by the way? For once look at the other side. How many soldiers wear bullet proof vests? This is the government not the soldiers. Ideally, soldiers should be on reserve during peace time and given civil jobs. But no. They are kept on active duty. Posted to NEPA Office to work as gate men. Working as escorts for diplomats and used to push tanker drivers. Whose fault is this?

2. You cannot tell me what to witness first hand because I AM a member of the Armed Forces. Army precisely. Not that I condone the unprofessional conducts of some elements in the Armed Forces, I am saying that the state of the country is deteriorating in all areas. Military funds are siphoned regularly. Soldiers are unkempt. Soldiers at the war front eat roughly once or twice a day. Would you sit at your house or office and blame them?

3. You talk about MOPOL. Please, the government instructed the IGP to visit benue, he went to Nasarawa instead. the police IGP could do that. Policeman insulted a sitting Governor on TV. My point is, the police aren't working. I have had this argument with my friend who is an ASP. The policemen are not doing their jobs. People don't regard the police. They may not respect the military either. But they definitely fear them.

4. Military court-martial soldiers regularly. You just don't know. Many soldiers are demoted on a regular for Human Rights abuses. Does that mean you blame the whole military for an act a few soldiers performed? You carefully ignored SARS, Customs and others who do worse. Visit the borders and see Customs assault drivers. Visit the cities and see SARS assault young men. You only focused on the military.

I am a Nigerian. I once told my commander off post that I am a Nigerian. I may be a soldier loyal to the president and held by an agreement I signed but it doesn't mean I am not a Nigerian.

I know what the civilians feel because I have families who are civilians. I didn't fall from heaven. I have a family who have their stories at the hands of both military and police. So do we leave the police part and blame only the military? No. What do we do?

We implore the government to reform these institutions. The power is in the hands of the government. Not a few soldiers or Navy guys at Apapa. So for a moment stop talking like the military can wake up and choose what and what not to do. They follow orders. Unlike a police who ignores court orders and president orders to go to benue.

You civilians think you know but you know nothing.

Do not blame the military for that. Blame the police. If the police are professional, Nigerians would take them serious and the military wouldn't have to be involved.

Do you think Soldiers enjoy standing at road checkpoints like police and road safety? You think they enjoy it?

The rule against the tanker drivers have been on for years but the tanker drivers IGNORED the police. Is it until lives are lost or accidents begin to happen that the military steps in? If the police cannot do their jobs, don't blame the Armed Forces for stepping in.

Besides the military doesnt go up against cultist or Armed robbers. And even if they do, you should be grateful. Fix your police. It isn't the soldiers fault that the police don't know their jobs.
