Minjim:Nigeria is like a game of Whot. Our politicians holds some secret cards so no matter how many rounds we play or strategies we use, we can NEVER beat them. We know say na ojoro, the more you look the less you see. The only way forward is let's scatter the game and start again. When we start again then we go know say all the card dey on top table and nobody get advantage pass the other. The only way that can happen is referendum. Not even restructuring. Let those that want to go go and let those that want to stay stay. This Nigeria we see today is hopeless, e no fit better. |

The Argentine was already the favorite prior to winning Copa América Lionel Messi is not just the favorite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, he’s becoming the prohibitive favorite. He was already the one the betting companies were behind prior to winning the Copa América, and event since have only turbo boosted him further. Messi already has six of the sport’s top individual honor, a record. But he is looking likelier and likelier to secure his seventh. His odds were already quoted at 2/1 (implied odds: 33.34%) before either the Copa América or Euro final, and now they are at an impressive 1/2 (implied odds: 66.67%). Having won that elusive major honor with Argentina, in addition to top assister, top goalscorer, and best player, Messi has cemented a huge season. Messi also has the most goal contributions this year, with 33 goals and 14 assists, for a total of 49. Robert Lewandowski is second, with 34 goals and 4 assists, for a total of 38. Messi did not win La Liga last season, but he was instrumental in FC Barcelona’s Copa del Rey success. At the beginning of last month, Kylian Mbappé was seen as the Ballon d’Or favorite. However, he was not good at the Euros and missed a crucial penalty that sent France home. Lewandowski was in second place, and another Frenchman, N’Golo Kanté, in third. Kanté’s bid depended on following up an UEFA Champions League win with Chelsea with European glory with France, but his chances plummeted when Mbappé missed. Several other potential candidates who depended on a win at the Euros to cement their bid crashed out such as Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal and Kevin de Bruyne for Belgium. Out of the rubble, a few new candidates emerged such as Harry Kane for England and Jorginho for Italy. However, the Euro final was not the kind of big step they needed to catch up with Messi’s tournament win and individual accolades. Kane was not able to continue scoring or make a run for the tournament Golden Boot, and he lost the final. Jorginho did win the final, but he didn’t really sparkle and missed a chance to definitively win it for Italy by missing his penalty in the shootout. Gianluigi Donnarumma being named the tournament’s best player was good for Messi’s odds as well, as he is not considered a Ballon d’Or candidate. As it stands, Messi is the mega favorite. Lewandowski and Ronaldo are considered to be second and third favorites, but they will have a difficult time catching up after all the major silverware has already been handed out this year. https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2021/7/12/22573839/lionel-messi-is-the-mega-favorite-for-the-2021-ballon-dor |
Senior police officers, including two commissioners of police, had said the platforms used in tracking criminals and their phones had been bad since January. Some policemen who were deployed to combat bandits at a location have appeared in a video protesting that the authorities sent them out without arms and ammunition to face the criminals. One of the policemen, whose voice was the loudest in a video seen by SaharaReporters, lamented that the government and police authorities seemed to be culpable as they warned them not to engage the bandits. “Enough is enough. They are playing politics with people’s lives. They took us into this bush without armour, without ammunition. We are to comb this particular area within the twinkle of seconds (sic). How many bandits are in this bush? “How many bandit leaders are inside this bush? These big men are eating (sic) money up there. They are even saying we should not go after them (the bandits). I am not afraid. I am not a coward,” the policeman said in the video. SaharaReporters on Sunday reported that key tracking equipment deployed by the police to go after kidnappers, bandits and terrorists had also remained inactive since the beginning of the year amid raging violent crimes across the country. Senior police officers, including two commissioners of police, had said the platforms used in tracking criminals and their phones had been bad since January. One of the Commissioners of Police had said the tracking equipment was handed over to the police by the Nigerian government a few years ago during the tenure of IGP Solomon Arase and was installed by a Nigerian company. “The equipment was given to us by President Buhari. The thing has not been working because those who are supposed to ensure that it runs well have not played their part. “They claim that they are being owed money for the subscription,” he said. When asked to explain how the subscription works, the CP said the police had not paid the fees since 2015 and the police had had to rely on the DSS. He added, “From what I gathered, subscription fees are meant to be paid yearly but you won’t believe that the police have not paid since 2015. Initially, the company gave us a grace period but they have now cut off the police completely. We now rely solely on DSS (Department of State Services) and NSA (National Security Adviser) offices. It’s a terrible situation and it has worsened the insecurity in the country. The Police Trust Fund promised to help but we have not seen any action yet.” Another police commissioner confirmed the development but said efforts were being made to restore the equipment. The police commissioner added that the platform was undergoing a system upgrade which would soon be completed. He added, “You know this thing is technology just like computers so we do upgrades from time to time. A lot of people on the field don’t even understand how it works. It is undergoing an upgrade because you have new features coming in from time to time. There are new technologies that you have to update to enhance their capacity. “We have some new equipment which we need to adjust so they can link together. Some are still working. It is not as if all components are shut. That is what is happening.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/07/12/buhari-government-warned-us-against-going-after-killer-bandits-policeman-says-video |
What I know is that the North will eventually be consumed by the evils it created and still creating. They open their borders and allow in all forms of animals, they inflict poverty on their people and deny them education, thinking numbers means strength. All these deliberately for political advantage. They may think they're winning the power game against the South, but they can never escape the exodus coming to the North. This is why I can never support one Nigeria, because the North will never grow. They will remain backwards for centuries to come. Today even in Lagos, I fear for our people because these foreigners who we know are not really Hausas have taken over the population. It is like that in almost all states at the moment and the earlier southern governments starts repatriating them the better. |
In 2021? What's the purpose of these international organizations for God's sake? |
The world is watching. BMC boys oya come and defend our clueless commander in chief. |
How would there be peace, ain't you guys the owners of Nigeria? We know it is your Nigeria and confusion and backwardness is your right. |
They should experiment this on Boko Haram and Bandits first. We know this is just another exploitative tool for those without NOBODY, while the real people committing crime and grounding the country will never be tracked, intercepted and arrested. |
This man is a wise man. |
Not just the notes, Nigeria itself should just go into extinction let's start again. We go everything wrong in this chapter. |
Please I hope it won't affect our grazing route? Because over here we put cow first over everything and since the last 6years Mr Buhari never allowed a week go by without we deliberating cow related matters. It gives him orgasm. While we wish to establish and reestablish our grazing routes and speaking whatever language it takes to get it right, we congratulate Norway on this rare accomplishment as we don't look forward to such development in the very distant future. |
Lies. Church no hungry you go. I've come to conclude that feminism like homosexuality is a psychological disorder in which it's sufferers use as excuse to hide their real pain, problem or inadequacies. They hide under this umbrella and want the world to accept it as a norm. People like Adichie will never have peace until woman take the absolute position the man holds today in a cultured society. Congrats to her however, we would soon get there, thanks to our uncultured westernization. Until then they'll continue to cry foul and raise false alarm and continue to play the victim card. C'mon, so a church preaches oppression of the female gender every Sunday? One day people like her realize there's really nothing like EQUALITY, it's all a lie, but by then a lot of lives would have been ruined by their selfish use of the voice fame bestowed on them. |
nairalee:This is deep. Messi really is the GOAT. |

Ewizard:Honestly, I've not had it on any of my phones for over a year. I'm thinking deactivating my account. |
Dumbest idea ever! When NYSC should be scrapped because it's lost its relevance. Moreover, if our education actually has quality and imparts the required skills for survival why waste one year of one's life while the real life is still out there waiting. |
I have come to conclude that we the people can only make noise, and no matter the noise our leaders will always have their way. Shame... shame on this bloody Senate. |
