Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by gretop86: 9:07pm On May 27
You need to compare the NOC job description for a medical lab assistant vs what your niece currently does as a laboratory assistant. If the description matches and you're able to prove that you have experience in the field, it should not be an issue. However, the years of experience also matters on your CRS score when it comes to express entry. Do you research on these 2 items: NOC job description & years of experience for a good CRS score as well as other CRS factors.

Nger88:
Please, I am asking this on behalf of my niece. She had HND in business administration and due to lack of job. She started supporting someone that owns a laboratory as a lab assistant. While on the job, the person did on job training for her and she was able to do some things in no time. She was being paid salary every month even though small but paid into her account and she has done it for like 1yrs and 6months. Now the question is, can she apply as a medical lab assistant under the healthcare draw considering the fact that her Undergraduate degree doesn’t align with what she want to claim experience for. Please, I need someone response. Thanks

Ignore point #2 at your risk if you have house help and not involved in the day to day running of your home.

ferfer:

Here goes -

1) Take a pen and a book, write down your definition of success as an immigrant. Let your spouse do the-same. If that definition is different for both of you, sit down and talk about it. Make sure you both have similarity, at least 75%, in what you both define as success. I would love to give you examples but this will defeat the purpose of this task.

2) If you have house help(s), then it is time to let them go, please do not forget to do so nicely, you will understand when you get to Manitoba. Both you and your spouse should be in charge of the day to day running of your home now - domestic chores, taking care of the kids and work. This is to prepare you for the days ahead.

3) Start applying for jobs.

4) If you will need to be licensed to work in your profession, then start talking to the licensing bodies and connecting with people who have gone through the-same process.

5)Connect with immigrant welcoming organizations. Their services are free, courtesy of the federal government. Also, if you wish, join the Nigerian WhatsApp group for your destination of choice.

6) Remember the son/daughter of whom you are. Remember that there will be a lot of information, both the ones you have asked for and unsolicited. Test every counsel, do not just accept any counsel/persuasion/advice hook, line and sinker because it's coming from Justin Trudeau. Shine your eyes.

May the land favor you and yours, amen. I have assumed that you are married and with kid(s), if not, please oblige my erroneous presumption.

How did you arrive at $347? It’s only $188/yr which boils down to either ~$32 or ~$16 depending on how it is deducted from your payroll.
Enculer2:

If you earn $73,200 or more, you’ll be paying an extra $347 in payroll taxes in 2024, for a total tax bill of $5,104.

Yes to all.
For school, you’d have to get your new address in the same school zone if you dont want to change schools. All you’ll need to do is update the address with the school after moving.
Enculer2:
Hello All,

Can you use a temporary address to get the following sorted:

- Ontario Health Card
- Exchange European Drivers licence for an Ontario one
- Open bank accounts

What about enquiries for school? what happens if you are still in a temporary accommodation/airbnb when it is time for kids to be enrolled for school?

Cheers.

Just skip Toronto and Vancouver please. Even high income earners ($150k/yr) are just able to keep their heads above water. The only exception is if you're okay with sharing an apartment with people and don't plan to start a family anytime soon.

Do your research yourself. Don’t fall for scams. You just put a target on your back by mentioning what you have if it’s true.

But I think people should exercise patience, a market correction is coming soon. The indices that drove the market into an unprecedented distortion won't last forever.

I hope this happens but the data online shows Canada real estate has never budged since 2008 even when there was a huge slump in housing prices in the USA. And this has really pushed people into the FOMO. Imagine you didn't get your house 2yrs ago, by now you'd be more eager to lay your hands on something because of what you saw and knew 2years ago.

They are now going to start seeing the effect of those 800k houses on their mortgages and either they start defaulting or they sell it fast. So more houses will come into the market increasing supply and with reduced demand, we will start having a balanced market and houses will now have their true values instead of these inflated values we have now.

Well current increase does not have any major impact yet. Home owners will only see a $15CAD increase for every $100K CAD. I really wish they could speed up building permit approvals and also drive housing densification. NIMBYSM is also a major issue.

money laundering from Chinese and indians and also foreign investors driving up the price plus lack of supply . Ontarians are going to other provinces like New Brunswick, Alberta, Nova Scotia to buy houses and work remotely. You are not the only one nursing that ambition. Some prs are waiting for citizenship so they can move to USA. The real estate situation in Ontario and Vancouver is a joke for some ugly looking brick and wooden houses hahahaha
Thanks for the clarification. Fear catch me at first, I thought I was been irrational but it is the market that is irrational. Clear!!!

My people in the house living in Ontario to be specific. I've been doing my research on the real estate market and what I've seen so far has not been encouraging. I see houses listed for $1m CAD that costs about 50% less in the US. Is the Canadian real estate a bubble or there are some strong fundamentals driving these crazy prices other than supply way lesser than demand?. I still can't wrap my head around a house selling for $150,000 - $250,000 CAD above asking price. Wetin dey sele gan gan? Abeg make una open my eyes to what I'm not seeing from the data readily available. Is there any plan to fix this issue? Cos if it continues this way, I might just use this country as a means to change my passport and get the hell out to a country that is much reasonable.
