FBS:I was going to quote myself to type that but dozed off last night. He never appeared interested in helping out Trevor |
Congratulations Thomas on another trophy. But was playing extra time really the best thing for you this evening? "Physically this was the worst thing that could happen to us, playing extra time. Mentally, it was the best thing to happen. First, because there was no delay or playing it in four weeks. It was the moment we needed to start and that is why we choose the line-up. "We didn't want to break our heads and share minutes. We had all these discussions and thoughts. Do we share minutes? Do we continue the preparation phase? Do we use this match to be ready for Saturday? We decided no, we use this match to win it and nothing else. "We went with the team that played against Arsenal and Tottenham to be. in the best shape possible. Are we 100% of our capacity? No, absolutely not. But we are ready to play football matches at a certain level. We had to suffer because you could see that after 35 minutes that things got hard for us. "We had some easy ball losses, it was hard with closed spaces and unfortunately in the second half, we continued like this after a strong 35 minutes in the beginning. They deserved [their equaliser] because of this, finished our attacks too early and we allowed chances. "I was very impressed with our reaction after 75 minutes because we had total control of the game again. We played a very good match until the 120th minute. "So there were a lot of good things. Physically, we overused players who were not ready to play 120 minutes. We only have two days now until the next match against Crystal Palace so that does not help us. "But this is the schedule. We came with many players who didn't even play a friendly match so far. This the situation and it helps nobody if we say we're not ready. We have to adapt, to be as ready as we can be in our mindset, and give our best on Saturday." Can you explain your decision to put Kepa on at that stage of the game, obviously it was planned? "Of course, I mentioned since I arrived that we have an unbelievable amount of quality in our support structure at the club. This is one of our examples. "When we arrived in my first cup game against Barnsley, we had this talk with the goalkeeping coaches and the analysis department who came up with these statistics that Willy Caballero is the best in penalty saving from thousands of them, second best was Kepa and third best in Edou in this statistic. "Willy is not here anymore in the three. It showed all the fantastic spirit that they accept it and have no problem. When you see Mendy put his ego aside when we take this decision, and he is aware, this is key, why we do it. This is not a feeling and just a sudden idea of the manager. "This was planned and openly discussed with the goalkeepers and I am very happy that they showed this team spirit that Edou was fine to take this for the team. You still need luck but everyone knows how it is. Thanks to the support and luck, Kepa could show and prove his quality." Trevoh Chalobah forced his way into your thinking for this season? "Absolutely that’s why he played. He played good against Arsenal and he played a good game also against Bournemouth, then Arsenal, then Tottenham. We wanted to have guys on the fireld who are capable to play 90 minutes. "Trevoh was first in training the very first in training and is physically strong and deserved to play by his performances so far and again today he was very strong. "He suffered in some moments but later with Azpi by his side and Jorgi close to him and helping him in tactical organisation he stepped again up. "He never lost face and stayed calm and was physical enough to play 120 minutes. It was quite impressive. He forced his way into our thinking. Let’s see how it goes. "We still have some days to decide his personal future but in the moment he shows his value to the team." |
DumaEmpire:Ofcourse, hailing Marina and the scouting crew for their geniuses, then comparing the new boy with Baresi. That's what fans and the media live for ![]() |
Ibeme:I swear down man. It's about showing faith in these lads' abilities, and having the chutzpah to hand them an opportunity. We wouldn't be keeping tabs and budgeting 50milla for Kounde if he wasn't given playing time in France. Cobham has done a great job over the years, let's treat its products like that of La Masia. Guehi, Livramento et al who left to earn playing minutes elsewhere where as good as Trevor if not better, but we just don't trust them to deliver on the big stage. I'm loving the man TT already. Was Kenedy in Belfast? |
Ibeme:Solid and composed. Every ninja in that team looks rusty, but boy is as sharp as eagle razor. I think we really dont need the signing of Kounde at this stage. |

DID YOU KNOW…? - This will be Chelsea’s 50th game against Spanish opponents in European competition (W20 D17 L12), but the first time they have ever faced Villarreal in competitive action. - Villarreal are unbeaten in their last 15 games in European competition (W12 D3), with the most recent three coming against English opponents in last season’s UEFA Europa League. They won 2-1 on aggregate against Arsenal in the semi-final, before beating Manchester United on penalties in the final following a 1-1 draw. - Chelsea have only lost two of their last 12 games against Spanish opponents in European competition (W5 D5), while they were unbeaten in their six encounters with Spanish sides in their successful UEFA Champions League run in 2020-21 (W4 D2) |
nihilistjnr:Apparently. It's same side that faced Spuds days ago. |
Our fan base on twitter is already on fire. This boy don dey gain ground. Nath wasn't this famous mehn. Really happy for Trevoh Chalobah. He deserves that start! |
Amoto94:Definitely. I saw him against Spuds and I was quite impressed. That lad is very much confident and technical than Malang Sarr, he deserves that spot. |
1 BlueAngel444:Big man show!

PAOK have attempted to take Rahman on loan but Chelsea only want to sell the player because he is in the last year of his contract. Time to drum up interests and get rid of this guy once for all. It appears Lyon are after Bakayoko. That's refreshing. |
raumdeuter:Varane is hanging around, waiting to be drafted in. ![]()
|
BlueRayDick:The only time I get to quote wrongly is when I'm high on weed. Bro I understand ![]() |
raumdeuter:Obviously, but then again, we look healthy on paper. We just need to jettison our returning loanees to reduce our wage costs. It's that simple. Na manure own worse pass, they're already doing £194,366,200. By the time dem add Varane to their payroll, they'll be sitting close to PSG on that chart. |
BlueRayDick:Did you even read my post at all? Oga I am not TheLequte who drew up the comparisons. |
raumdeuter:Aguero was actually doing £11,960,000 annually, which is half of what could have seen Citeh leapfrog Chelsea on that chart. that counts as a key factor. But then that's not the chief reason Citeh are behind us on the payroll chart. It's the 2021/22 session, and we have all of our loanees back on our payroll, that's just it. Bakayoko is commanding £5,720,000 annually, Sarr £6,240,000, Drinkwater £5,200,000, Rahman £4,919,200, Barkley £5,000,000. Zappacosta £3,640,000. Then you have RLC, Baker, Musonda and Ampadu drawing nearly 10million pounds amongst themselves. We currently have 33 players on our payroll active roster, compared to Citeh's 25. Once we sell some of those deadwoods up there, we go balance the book and leave City's spot for them. |
Ideaball:Definitely the Aguero's factor. You can check up the current wage bills on spotrac.com and salaysport.com

It's matchday, so let's get rid of all these world-war and religious shalayes. We don't read the book of Revelation in here! Here's my predicted line-up for tonight's game: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; Hudson-Odoi, Kante, Kovacic, Alonso; Werner, Havertz, Ziyech. I deliberately omitted our EURO and Copa America finalists from that XI, albeit I hope to see them make the bench. |
TheLequte:Domination includes winning laurels, so it's TH14 for me. He was more complete. Big-game player, bagged numerous individual honours and team laurels. Ruud's one great season doesn't really change a thing about TH's dominance of the English game. Blackburn racked up too many debts in the 2000s, that they had to slash down wages and sold some of their best players. They were above relegation waters in 2010 with a wage bill of 81% of their turnover and over 20million in debt. Shits got more real when the shareholders sold their shares to an Indian chicken company who were run by the venkys, they had promised to clear Rovers' accrued debts. The venkys brought in Anderson to advice them on how to run the company and this was just the beginning of the fall. First, they had to sack Allardyce for buying players who weren't represented by their agent Anderson. After which, they promoted a rookie coach who was represented by their agent, who between them bought couple of players who were largely represented by their agent. It'd turn out that one of those stupid players was the son of the agent himself. He hardly played, just sitting on a fat wage. They got relegated, and with no TV money to hold unto, they sunk deeper in debts. Moral of the short story: Stay away from debts and Anderson, lest you'll be like Blackburn. |
Which sports team has the highest wage bill in the world? 10. Cleveland Browns | American Football | £157m 9. Dallas Cowboys | American Football | £158m 8. Chelsea | Football | £163m 7. Bayern Munich | Football | £166m 6. Juventus | Football | £184m 5. Los Angeles Dodgers | Baseball | £193m 4. Barcelona | Football | £195m 3. Manchester United | Football | £201m 2. Real Madrid | Football | £212m 1. Paris Saint-Germain | Football | £256m |

Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol on The Transfer Show: "We are very close, this is almost done. Lukaku is having his medical in Milan today, the first part of that is already over... As soon as the medical is done, he will be coming to London. It could be today, tomorrow, or the day after, but in reality, he is a Chelsea player. "It is a fantastic move for him, 10 years after he signed for Chelsea. Last time around, it didn't work out. He was supposed to be the new Didier Drogba, he struggled and he was sold to Everton. But he's coming back a much better player, a more complete player. "He is exactly what Chelsea need - a No 9. Thomas Tuchel said to the Chelsea board 'get me a No 9, I want Lukaku, Haaland, or Kane', and they've got Lukaku. They've had to pay a premium to get him and he is 28 - how much resale value is he going to have? I think he will still have some resale value if he was to leave Chelsea. "But if he reproduces the form he has shown in Italy in the last two seasons, then Chelsea have got the answer to their problems because Lukaku will score 20 or 30 goals every season. "This is the textbook example of how to make a transfer happen. You have to take your hats off to his advisors, his agents, because everything has been done properly. It has been done privately and behind the scenes, there has been no strikes and Lukaku has been very professional - he's always said the right things and it's going to be a good deal for Inter Milan." |

Lionel Messi in today's press conference confirmed that a move to PSG is very much possible. This is as good as saying he has joined the Parisiens. Neymar's effect right there. |
izzou:Shouldn't be much of a worry, I think they've lodged bids for Zapata and Dzeko. |
