At least to this very level,I am a first class student, with time I got to adapt to the course..it is a very interesting course..I didn't try changing anymore,ur chances of changing is 50/50..FYI,pbb is still the best course in Life Sciences..if u don't mind,u can drop your whatsapp number for more info cos I might not be frequent here

Life science is very interesting but there is no best as all of them are intertwined. Like I always say, your first degree will not hinder you from what you want to achieve. My regards to Omogui, Mr Mike and that lecturer that have a store in St Albert.

Thanks for your prompt response. He isn't so keen on law anymore as transfer...I guess he isn't just too happy with the Adult education.
By the way, is this department at Ugbowo or Ekhenwa? "Pardon my spelling if incorrect".

It is the feeling that comes with being given a course u didn't apply. Tell your bro to brighten up, some people with good aggregate haven't been admitted and are having sleepless night. He can write Jamb again if he wants a different course or transfer in 200l ( as long as he meets the requirements). Tell him all of is here are happy for him and send our congratulations

they say in UI you can't matriculate twice, is it the same in uniben?

You have been told that you can't run two programs at the same time ....its up to you to decide my dear.

If u ask me, focus on the admission u have been given and if u still want write JAMb next year. I wish you the best.

In uniben, just put your ears to the ground, any scholarship that comes out u will definitely hear esp those June 12 guys.

then what can one use aeb course for after graduating?

Aeb 111, do you have PDF?

What I want to achieve, let's just say be a MD and have a second source of income through agriculture.

Don't understand you guys oo? What does one need a scholarship for, grin if not for sponsoring my education...Maybe you can give examples of what I should be looking out for

Just focus on graduating with a good result, AEB PDF .lol. I am not a student o., I graduated some four yrs ago.
Doing agriculture as a business involves capital, land etc, doesn't matter the course u did as a first degree sometimes

it is said that no knowledge is wasted, actually I want to know if it is possible and maybe try

This one our economy is slowly moving towards agriculture, aeb might be of help in the future

About the scholarship, how can I be specific, with the way uniben calendar is? By the time first semester results come out, other schools would have started second ...Do you have any recommendations?

Agriculture is a very big business, however AEB in uniben is under life science has little to do with agric trust me. I did a lot of AEB courses, u should start reading AEB 111, its was a 4unit course in my time. How about u tell what you want to achieve this will help me advise accordingly.
Cc Draei and Wisdom... Am I allowed?

What scholarship r u looking out for, like someone pointed out, u can only apply if u meet the requirements

I don't think it's legal, especially when both programs are Full Time programs. Besides, you can't handle it.

U r right. I had a course mate who did two program s, the first was a part time course (5yrs), she wrote Jamb in her 3rd yr and got the admission, Same faculty. So when she was in 400l PT, she was also in 100l FT, they are very related courses in same faculty. I didn't know until we got to final year, and PT don't go for NYSC, so she planned well. I saw both certificates, tho they didn't come out at the same time.
However, doing 2FT courses, I dunno how that can work especially on Kofa

does it mean I can only apply after first semester?

Different scholarship are advertised at different times of the year, depend on how each one functions. Even for a 100l student one major requirements is your matric number amidst others. Maybe u should be more specific for proper guidance

will i do coc on jamb?

My dear, first be thankful to God u were given admission, some have not been given even when they have good aggregate, congratulations.... Cheer up.

Don't feel like AEB is nothing cos it is not, eventually not everyone will read medicine, write Jamb next year and put in your best to score a higher aggregate.

I know someone(a friend) who was given health edu against pharmacy he applied, he took it and wrote jamb the next year ...got his Pharmacy. While he was in 300l Pharmacy , his friends in edu was in final year. In 400l the course became too tough for him and he didn't pass, then transferred to mcb (transfer means u start from 200l), when he finally graduated from MCB and went for nysc he was full of regrets and anger realizing how the workforce in Nigeria is, he told me he should have just stayed in Education.
I have another friend who was given animal sci against medicine, she cried..lol, we advised her to take it and write Jamb again which she did, Guess what, she wasn't still given medicine, the wrote jamb the third time and was given education by the she was in 300l. She them realized she was doing well in her dept and decided to focus on it and stop dashing jamb free money. She graduated with a sharp 2:1 and is doing well now.

I am saying this to make you know that the grass is not always green on the other side, for anyone who applied a course and was given a different course, don't feel bad. Take the admission and write Jamb again if u really want.
A bird in hand is worth a million in the bush, if there is any question u have about AEB pls do feel free to ask. God bless you and congrats again

wise saying...
U didn't say this on your own...U were inspired my the Holy Spirit....
Thanks My dear, I have been working for 4yrs now, I won't mince words.
Most of these younger ones are not aware that's why many may end up making mistakes. My bro applied uniben too, I filled animal science for him, he has been given admission. It won't stop him from living his dream..these days first degree is almost losing value. I wrote Msc entrance exam in UNILAG last year, the crowd was as tho we came to write post UTME.

Again, all of you given ADMISSION, Your focus now should be how to graduate with a 2:1. Most multinationals don't care your course oh as long as it 2:1 and you are less than 26 years, u r qualified to apply.

Shalom

I will advice you take it while you pursue what you want via taking jamb again or buying the transfer form.

The transfer form is always available towards the end of 2nd semester or at the end. I think at the sum of 50,000 or 100k or so.

If granted Computer science or similar course, you will start a new session in 200 level in the granted course.
Indeed u r full of wisdom, being in computer science edu doesn't stop you from being a computer scientist, u will still take some courses with them. As a matter of fact, most people who did computer science in uniben r not happy with the system, I dunno about now but the dept had issues back them.
Now with computer edu, u have more opportunities than one who did only computer science. Now lemme ask, why do u prefer computer science over computer edu?

Am sorry for my late response, due to work and all.... The bolded is actually the hot cake, my dear take the course, love it and enjoy it. Do your best to graduate with a good result. I am currently going to register for a PGD in education, a friend of mine with BSc and Msc in Biochemistry is currently running a PGD is education. Again don't feel bad if u were given education, if u feel like u really dont want, then write Jamb while in school.come back here years from now to testify.

NOTE: don't ever sit at home crying and whinning cos u were not given your course of choice.

Good day all...again I must commend Draei and Wisdom for keeping this group together yearly... Well-done guys.
I have a concern I feel I should share with everyone, I graduated from Uniben Jan of 2014, so let's just say we are a family. If you were given a course that u didn't apply for, pls I advise u take it and if u so wish, write Jamb again while in school. A coursemate of mine left us in 300l to medicine, he is still in school till now, next yr will make it 10yrs he has been in Uniben. The truth is life after school is a different world, hard, raw, challenging.. Name it.
Now I realized education courses are hot cake in the workforce, those people who did education r teaching in very big schools esp in lag where they earn more than those people working in bank. If u r not sure of the course u r given kindly ask questions, am sure the admin here will be ready to answer. Do not look down on any course pls, social works is hot cake in NGOs, they earn big too, U will see the value when u r out of school. To those who have accepted the course they were given, take it in good faith, thank God and brace up for the journey, uniben will drill u or should I say bend you,4yrs is a short time..trust me.
Wish you all..the best

I decided to do this in case anyone have any useful information, so my bro (IMO) has aggregate 59 for accounting and second choice ecostat, his caps is still not admitted. He has been worried sick esp knowing some of his friends who scored less have been admitted tho not accounting. In my time, UNIBEN will give another related course ,I don't know if they still do that, I spoke to someone here a few weeks ago who said we should be hopeful. Well I am confused myself now,

Good write-up but it all depends on the product one is offering at a geographical location.. if your market can easily have access to your products and services or can locate you easily you don't need all these. This is so interesting.. Kindly give examples of business that may not require all or some of the tools listed by the op

Greetings to everyone and congrats to those who already feel admitted, been following this thread quietly because my bro is also on the race.
I am a graduate of UNIBEN and trust me its a school to be proud of ,if only you follow the right path.
To all who r on the admission race, please be calm as someone started above, your journey has only just started...UNIBEN have a mind of its own ...trust me.
Being admitted is one and going through the stressful clearance is another . don't get overwhelmed with the admission so as not to get carried away (some people sha want to leave their parents house.lol),
Wish u all the best,

Hi everyone, I have been following this thread silently... I am a graduate of UNIBEN and my younger brother is an aspirant. Please I want to beg all aspirant to be extremely careful especially those who have never been to Benin, PUTME season is a time wicked people exploit innocent aspirant. For those that don't have where to stay, someone already suggested Fellowship Secretariat/Church please do key into this suggestion as school is not in session and the rate of obnoxious activities is on the increase. I wish I can share stories that happened when I was in school, please don't sleep in any classroom it's highly unsafe. For those that will be staying in Ekosodin, don't stay out late and try not to walk alone, don't be over excited about being away from home, your focus should be on the exam. Muslim, Catholic and Anglican community r the only ones recognized within the school premises, if you are stranded please locate any of them for assistance. Finally, you don't have to pay anyone to give you admission, Uniben will fish u out in 300l and escort you home. Now that the exam has been postponed, read as tho you are writing tomorrow, UNIBEN PUTME is quite easy.
I wish you all the best and journey mercies when you travel

Oh apologies to those that already traveled before the postponement, try not to be too hard on yourself. You will experience maybe more on being admitted.....
Brace up

I have been on a silent follower of Nairaland, I have met a few people who have turned out to be amazing friends, I don't want to mention names for the sake of their privacy. Now, Appliedmaths happens to be one of them, and he has been a wonderful friend, coincidentally we graduated from same higher institution. Over time we have watched ourselves grow, we rub minds, help people and also share ideas.
Because this is his thread I decided to come in to assist in any little way, trust me when I say we have both gotten invites and jobs via NL, even my current job was from here.
The points highlighted by Appliedmaths are very important during the process of Job application, please permit to add that most fresh graduates use generic CV to apply for jobs which also hinders chances of being invited. In other words, if you apply for 5 different jobs in a day, your CV should be edited to suit each position being applied.
Oops, make I stop here for now

PS :I ain't a HR neither do I work with one.

To whom it may concern, I'll make this brief and short. Funny enough I made the same set of mistakes too and trust me I paid for it dearly.
This topic is created to talk about CV's, for job interviews and other related issues I'm very sure this forum has a lot to offer.

1.5/10 times you job search it takes a miracle to come across a job description that fits your qualifications, these days job applicants are now being smart by applying for jobs they know they are not 100% eligible and luck has seem to shine on a few.

So I'll go straight to the point, I'm not an HR personnel by profession neither do I run nor work for a recruitment agency but during the short period of time i've spent in the work force I've been in the heart of two "major recruitment processes" and here are my submissions (to whom it may concern).

Your CV matters a lot

If you're connected to people in HIGH places then this gist isn't for you (apologies).
I come across CV's I don't even go through up to 2minutes on a happy day when recruiting, and even when I want to be fair by going back to those CV's I still can't push them to the next stage.

Name your CV

Some people give their CV awkward names, the name you saved that file on your phone or pc matters a lot, recruiters do not have time to start searching for Mr A's CV after a good first time review. Your CV should carry your name ex "Obi Adamu Ojo CV" this is simple enough. I've seen qualified candidates loosed on jobs due to this error.

For Christ sake, use a good format for your CV

An HR friend of mine specially picked a candidate for a job listing because of his presentation and organizational skills, ask me again? She said she loved the way the guy took his time to carefully edit and format his CV, she said for him to do this it shows he has the potential to show good presentation and organizational skills. I've seen most CV's that looks like the contents are suffocating in the A4 paper, no margins, no tables, no headers, in Nutshell those CV's portray poor presentation skills.
And it may interest you to know that most of these poorly formatted CV's have good content.
There are generic formats of writing a good CV, Google them and apply. I went through a CV and after seeing the required contents I was looking for the candidates personal details, na the bottom page I go find am just before (that candidate head get oil) I had to bring it forward and do it the right way before approving for an interview invite.

Source for Quality Contents and keywords

Content is key, just like an exam answer script there are reasons people score 100, 80, 60, 50, even 0. What you have in that CV speaks for you, as a fresh accounting graduate nobody would penalise you for having up to 2 years experience and 3 professional degrees but there are certain contents we need to see in your CV failure to have these contents the Applicant tracking software may not be friendly even if the human eye may let go most times.

Get someone to review your CV

Designing and sourcing for contents can be very tedious a job for 1 man and this may lead to error of omission or not being able to spot an obvious mistake in your CV. For this singular reason and many more you need to get good hands to review your CV either paid or free.
People may further compound your woes by giving you conflicting theories don't worry about that at that point in time you would have gained more insight to know which is which.

That's all for now, I'll share more when I learn new things.

I see you dear
