If he has feelings, does that also means he has a weakness? Does that also means that his pains may also have a threshold? How then does he plan on creating a world/heaven without pains when pains is one of his characteristics. |
Christianity Etc › Does God Feel Pains? by GuidoVanRossum(op): 8:19am On Oct 08, 2017 |
Happy Sunday guys. Well, this is one of the many questions I have been asking since my teenage years without a satisfying answer yet.
If God do feel pains, does that means he has a brain, heart and neurons that transmit information to feel pains and pleasure? If he can feel pains, how then will he eliminate pains in paradise/heaven when we finally get there? Is he planning to make us into some robots of a kind that won't die nor feel pains even though he could feel pains?
If he can't feel pains, then why is our actions or inactions able to hurt him so much so that he created the hell to judge our actions?
NOTE: Pains here include emotional pains or disappointment. |

Good afternoon gentlemen and ladies. I was just watching the footage of George Best and I saw a lot of similarities in his style and that of Messi. This prompt me to ask for your view on these two great football players the world has ever known.
To me, considering the weight of the football in the sixties, the condition of the pitch and a lot of other drawbacks from the footballing arenas of those days, me think Best would have make Messi look ordinary today.
While buzz (alchol) and birds (women) affected Best's career in an age where players discipline was not like we have it today, Messi has a stable personality on and off the pitch. Best, who was popular nicknamed El beatles has been severally described as the first football celebrity. This was said to affect his personalities so much as his fame got the best of him and made him into a perfectionist of some sort according to Duncan Hamilton. Messi on the other hand came in an era with so much control and guidance of players' on and off pitch personalities.
I may be wrong, but I think Best would have been so successful that the like of Messi would look ordinary if he were to be born in this era.

TheGoodJoe: Can you as an engineer maintain a machine for three years without repairs? Maintain is to keep it in working condition. Like I said, you don't understand what you are trying to argue. Train as a word means different thing to an engineer. The phrase "Christmas tree" to an oil and gas engineer differs in meaning to what you understand it to be. I can say the same about the word "maintenance". |
Politics › Re: Engineer Refutes Hon. Amaechi's Statement On Railway by GuidoVanRossum: 11:01pm On Aug 22, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Did you not read maintain? Na wa. And you don't know the differences between maintain and repair? I don't blame you. It's the way you Nigerians think about engineering discipline. You are not alone in that ignorance. One of my life mentor who happens to be a lawyer will always want to argue why as a mechanical engineer, I should be able to repair automobiles. You don't have any idea of what engineering is. Nope, you do not really know who a mechanical engineer is. Do you even know what automobiles are apart from owning and driving one? I don't even know where to start with you. How many havard graduate engineers do you see repairing automobile even in the us? It's not because it's too low for them, it's because it's not their job and hence they no jack about it. An automobile engineer isn't even saddled with the responsibility of car repair. That's not what you are trained in school to do. Take BMW to a very good Toyota trained white mechanic and the chances that he will fumble is high. Because each car and each model are designed differently. |
Politics › Re: Engineer Refutes Hon. Amaechi's Statement On Railway by GuidoVanRossum: 10:42pm On Aug 22, 2017 |
iukpe: Engineers in the USA just do not build bridges, submarines, Airbus and spaceships from their salaries, these projects like railways, power stations require a lot of financial resources to muster the design fabrication, prototype testing, model construction, testing and actual project implementation. Only governments or large financial loans can foot such bills. And who says safety is a guarantee? can you remember the NASA space ship challenger, and the accident that occurred at launch. That wasn't their first or last. It was not out of poor design or incompetency and I am sure NASA and the USA government have taken measures to prevent such an occurrence in future. The fact is, there is nothing holding back the minister from saying that "Nigerian Engineers will now build our railway system". The minister, if he is technologically sound, should have the basic idea of what a railway system is all about. He will then proceed to look inwards for capable persons who can come up with the needed design ideas, who are capable of making recommendations to the resources available in our country that can be pulled together for such a project. He will further build up a basic plan for the project startup, which will involve fabrications and assembly of parts needed to build railway equipment. Our government need to invest in home made technology for big things. The North Korean nuclear technology is built by North Koreans, they cannot afford to have foreigners involved in such a project. The missing thing in our country is not the knowledge, it's the opportunity. We are used to importing technology, right from time and the risk is that we will always import technology especially at the rate technology is changing or evolving in every field. We need to start so we can catch up someday. Our railway system like Innoson vehicles you refer to may not be the best looking railway coaches or tracks at first build but all technology products start from somewhere to what you see and call modern today, cars from Mercedes, BMW etc are looking sleek and sweet every year because most times they just put a new body over the same frame while they develop a new frame. same thing with phones. Remember the Tecno mobile 15 years ago, I wouldn't buy a Tecno, It used to be a very weak, china product that would fail any day, with its 2 or 3 sim.
We can make it if we try, building technology for ourselves. Nigerian engineers can build powers stations, warships, planes etc, if the government focuses on supporting indigenous technology. And that is the first step to over come failures because we will easily identify the problem within the design, the weak part of our product, that is causing the failure and make it stronger, hence a more reliable product at the end that we can sell to other nations.
I have built and fabricated a few things myself since childhood. I studied mechanical engineering, but I love electronics. In 1987 I built my first FM transmitting station on campus and continued to develop my design till 1994 when the NYSC sponsored my project to build and install an FM station on the NYSC camp in Kwara state through Colonel Sofoluwe who was the DG of the scheme at that time. That wouldn't have been possible on my own. I was not presented with an award even at that. In 1998 I built a transistor UPS inverter which I powered a few appliances in my room using old car batteries and this were not inventions but things I made myself using components manufactured by other people and available in the market or some from scraps. I still build things to day with a lot of ideas but you only stop at designs and a few prototypes because big cash makes things real.
Innoson will soon become one of the leading auto manufacturers in Africa in a few years as soon as they can break even and begin to produce cars at a price people are willing to try. If an Innoson brand new car goes for N1m or N600k I am sure people will begin to think again. What our government or ministers need to do is to move into Innoson and subsidize their manufacturing so they can roll out vehicles at unbelievable prices such that Nigerian can try them out, this will give Innoson the opportunity to discover the areas of improvement in their design and give them the needed resources to get better. Nigeria can make it, our leaders do not believe in the country, all they want is to make money from contract! contract!! contract!!! Spot on sir. |

TheGoodJoe: Mechanical engineering
Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies engineering, physics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines.

Good one.
Revolution does not always means carrying arms. No
Revolution does not always means burning tires on the road. No
Revolution does not always means carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs.
Of course, they are ready with their police and military.
They can pay some illiterates to come attack us if we carry placards about.
To unseat them, let's carry on with the twenty first century revolution.
To unseat them, let's use the power of the social media.
Youth all over the country should be pushed and encouraged to contest elections by 2019.
Let's start by infiltrating the national assembly. If we can have a collective 60% youth there, we start changing the constitution.
If we don't do this, what kind of environment do we want to leave for our children? Our great grand children? What kind of country do we leave for them? We can't keep watching them ruin the country for us and ruin the future of our children.
The disparity between other smaller countries and ours is becoming wide developmentally. They are polarising us along the line of religion and ethnicity so we may never rise Against them. But we it's time we rised. Beyond tribal differences, beyond religion differences. It's time we stood up for the future of our children. If we fail to do this now, our children will have no place to live. If we allow them to continue to set us apart through religion or tribal differences, we are not just ruining our own future, we are creating an inhabitable environment for our children and the children or our children.
It may look impossible, but we can achieve it. It can start with just you and I. But we can achieve it.
Let the youth take over and turn the future of this country around. We are youth, we have knowledge, we have power, we have strength.
Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Tiv, Nupe, Ijaw, Ibibio, Christians, Muslims, our enemies isn't one another, it's not the tribe of your fellow, no its not our believe and way of life, it's the old generation that has refused to develop and rather chose to consume the life of our children and children's children. It's time we stopped condemning one another because of our tribal differences, it's time we stopped condemning one another because of our religion differences. It's time we started loving each other as against our common enemies.
Let the revolution begin. With you today o Nigeria youth. |
