Tufunky:I was going to respond to that lady's comment but changed my mind b cos nairaland is full of insulting peeps. A lot of time women have it easier than us in almost all life's facet. Even in schools. In my department, there was this very intelligent girl, she is already in first class and was supposed to graduate as the second best behind a guy. In order to make the lady lead, the department change the guy's score in final year's project from A to B even though his supervisor scored him an A. So, the lady became the best graduating student simply because she is a lady. Now I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it. She is a very smart young woman. But, robbing someone else just to have a woman lead is favouritism. So, society has a lot of injustice to either gender in different ways. |
Magdagascariens:Nigerian youths are not the leaders of today. No, not even tomorrow. Maybe leaders of next tomorrow. |
Lucky Dube said it all in his Life In The Movie I especially love the intro Warning, this is the chief of police speaking. Do not steal, police hate competition. |
989900:The Akoko Ondos may be Yoruba. But the Akoko edos aren't Yoruba in language and culture |
ModsWillKillNL:Please tell me what's Yoruba here. The postal code of the area is 312. The towns include Atte, Igarra, Enwan, Aiyegunle, Ugboshi-Afe, Ugboshi-Ele, Ekpesa, Ibillo, Ikiran-Ile, Ikiran oke, Ekor, Somorika, Lampese, Imoga, Ojah, Uneme-Akiosu, Ososo, Akuku, Ojirami-Dam, Imoga, Eshawa, Ojirami-Peteshi, Ojirami-Afe, Dagbala, Makeke, Ekpe, Ekpedo, Bekuma, Okpe, Ogbe, Onumu, Akpama, Anyonron, Ogugu, Ikakumo, Ijaja, Oloma, Uneme-nekua, Ikpesh |
Pvibe007:If the way Benin speak English is irritating you, then you really need to do something about your hearing. Benin and by extension the whole of Edo speak English with minimal or no traces of MT influence. |
It amazes me that almost everyone on here refers to my people as being Yorubas. Is it because of the name "Akoko?". Please, note that the major languages in Akoko Edo are: Okpameri Uneme Etuno Ososo And a very very tiny % of Yorubas. Akoko-Edo isn't a Yoruba land. Yes, we have Yoruba influence and it shows in our names and all that. But we very different both culturally and in terms of language. I therefore implore you all to stop calling my people Yorubas. PS: This does not mean we hate the Yoruba people as they are our brothers in the same geographical contraption called Nigeria. Mind44, Lalasticlala, please help us educate others. |

Micro tintitn... futarians will understand. BTW, it's IWE! (Factoria) which is a mathematical expression in permutations and combination. It's synonyms are Igi IWE, mobile library and iwe ogba. |
generalbush:Please can we talk off nairaland? |
EVILFOREST:Most of you think you work harder than those those of us with a 2:2 or 3:3 while in school. You think you were smarter than us. But I think you are not smart enough to know that tertiary institutions is a place where competitions are set for different species of animals with their own peculiar limitations. You wouldn't know what some of us go through to even get to be in the same class with you. Yes, majority of those with lower grades definitely know about all these things you mentioned. But what are we to do when so many things arm twisted us to settling with what we have. Anyway, I have always said it that no fc can intimidate me simply because of his better grade. This is because I know the content of this 2:2 holder and I know for sure that having similar or even close the surrounding conditions of a fellow who had fc in my school days, I will replicate same or even do better. Please stop the stereotypical believe that 2:2 or 3:3 holders were lazy while in school or were less smarter than those who got better grades. By the way, 80% of the questions in our tertiary schools' exams are past questions. That a person who did a thorough check of the past questions and got a better grade does not translate to having a better understanding of the subject matter than the rest of the students. In most Nigeria universities, one can easily cram his/her way to first class with the right environment. So, there Is no big deal in getting a first class my brother. |
Faymike:Where you there when Jude did all of these? |
diadem10:I think you are being highly sentimental here. Disrespected his wife? You really don't have idea of how these things work. Have you asked yourself why their mother never supported their union in the first place? The reason why the whole family members are against their union? If you think it has anything to do with tribe, you may be totally wrong cos Lola is not even a full fledge Yoruba. Like I said earlier, if you are not in the family, you can't know for sure what happened. One thing I do know is that all of them share from the problem including their late mother. For example, I can't court a lady from ijebu or abeokuta. Because I don't want a clash with my family in the future. This is because my parent has been warning us to steer clear of ladies from that region. Not that I don't know that it's just a stereotype which is highly fallacious. But I love my family and I don't want to have to chose between them and my future nuclear family. So in all of these again, Peter o, Paul o, Jude o, their late mother o and the rest of their family all share from the blame. |
Awoo88:If we trace back to the source of this troubles, I think it all started when their mother was still alive. I think I heard the mother was against Peter's choice of wife and she stood firmly against it. I think Jude decided to support the mother's view for a reason best known to them hence he didn't attend the brother's wedding despite the demise of their mother. I guess that's why Peter wanted Jude out. I think Paul was not going to side with his twin against their elder brother therefore, Peter opt to do it his way. These are just opinions formed from the news around and may be highly faulty or totally wrong But in all of these, let's remember that: Peter and Paul are two adults, in facts, married men who can handle their affairs without the elder brother. Peter and Paul are twins who have been having disagreements from when they were younger. Peter and Paul now have money, fame and separate families which makes it difficult for Jude to influence their personal decisions like he would easily do when they were younger and lack these things. |
Threebear:Then you shouldn't judge him. You don't know how these things started and what led to the ending of this accomplished twin. Picking from the news going around to reach a conclusive position as yours is a disservice to humanity. |
Threebear:Before you condemn him bro, please know that no matter how close you seems to think you are to them, you can never have absolute knowledge of what went wrong between these brothers. None of us can really judge. But I do know for sure that all of them have their share of the blame. Not Peter, nor Paul or Jude can claim to be 100% blameless in all of these. So please, let's not pick out on Jude as the scape goat. |
People just condemn this dude as if they were there to see everything that led to the disagreement between the brothers. Well, what we elder brothers go through. I remember when my dad smashed my stereo on the wall because I was listening to music and didn't noticed my younger ones were fighting. |
optional1:It's sure a typo.....lol. Oga mind wey speak grammar pass Prof Wole. |
Mynd44:Oga mind. A whole you? |
The saying that "oba no dey go transfer" has really been misunderstood. It doesn't necessarily mean the Oba doesn't leave his seat. It simply means the means the kingship in Benin can't just be changed like others by the government. He is not the first Oba to have been engaged in a nationwide thank you visit. The previous Oba did. So, I really don't see the reason for the comments above. |
noble4d:Wow. Thanks boss. You just boost my confidence. |
A CLIFF THAT ECHOE Is this coming late? I am sorry if I never whisper this in your ears. If I never told you what my heart is. I'm sorry but my heart is an independent cliff. It gives back what you give him. What you see me do for you. If I sacrifice me for you. It's not me. It's just an echo of what you give. If you ask what my heart is. A cliff that echoes. Am I acting strange? I'm sorry if I'm acting strange. I'm sorry I didn't remember your name. That's because of what my heart is. If you slowly stop loving me. I will slowly stop loving you. If you suddenly get away from me. I would have suddenly left you. It's what my heart is. A cliff that echoes. If the wind that blows this afternoon locate you. If they could form a vehicle to bring you back to me. If the sound of the rain increases your heartbeat. If it makes you speak my name again. When you call. I will echo back your name. It's not my fault. It's what my heart is. A cliff that echoes. If I was your superman. If I used to appear suddenly in your arms in the past. It's echo. When I eat. When I bath. When I sing. When I sleep. When I sit. When all those time you keep seeing me suddenly. My food. My water. My voice. My bed. My seat. They keep forming a canoe that flow me to wherever you are. That's because you love me. That's because you keep calling out my name. That's because of what my heart is. A cliff that echoes. And this. |
ANONYMOUS Before I close my eyes every night, I remember you. You who effortlessly put a crack of smile across my face. Face so bright, grinning with joy and with a plaster of care all over. All over the place I turn you stretch out your arms in a friendly embrace. Wait! What's your name? I never asked. But I call you anonymous. The stars look beautiful each time I stare towards the sky at night. I appreciate the wonder of God's creation when I see the endless reach of the sky. The perfection in the creation of the flowers, the bees and their purpose in the fertilisation of flowers is such a wow! However, I derive my strength from you my anonymous. Some days I don't want to stand up from my bed because I was too tired from yesterday. Then I think about the fact that I will see you. Sometimes I have reasons to want to allow the tears drop like a balloon in free fall. But then I see your smiling face and my injury become healed instantly. We are under this pains together. The sun is tearing down our head like fire. Yet you offered your cap to protect me. We were beaten and battered together but you will rather nurse my wound before you attend to you. What an exemplar sacrifice my anonymous. The other day I wanted to quit. I wanted to bid the world goodbye and take a walk to the heaven. But you insisted I stay. I lost my voice. I lost my strength. I even lost my respect. When others enjoy the ridicule of my person. You stood me up only to stand firmly beside me to never allow me fall again to their amusements. What will I do without you my anonymous. Please help me rate this. |
Everwhiz:Thanks joor. I don't know how I developed that attitude. But I will keep asking for the grace to change. You should help me in asking for that grace too. |
What an analogy. I also prefer beans and plantain together. But I think it's too late. They've gone too far. |
Cherez I love you ....no homo.... How I wish all youths in the country can reason this way. Where we put tribalism to a corner and work for the greater good of the nation. To be honest, as you've posited, every tribes in this nation have their share of the blame as to what happened in the past. The Hausas, the Yorubas and the Igbos. The problem is that non of the tribes is ready to take their share of the blame. The question is, is it possible that the youths of this nation can come together as one and help our nation to achieve political stability? Can we kick tribalism from among us the youth? Unlike in the past, all tribes in Nigeria now have highly educated youthful population. Hence, if merit is used as yardstick to pilot the affairs of our nation, we will surely get equal representatives from all tribes. I observed though that the messages the educated ones among us passes down to the less educated is taken hook line and sinker. I've been with less educated Igbos and I know how they wouldn't see anything wrong with NK. Some even believe he has mystical powers that NA can never capture him. You might say they are deluded, however, it's the messages passed down to them by the educated ones among them that gave them that believe. I've also been with less educated Yorubas and know how their believe system works. The messages passed down to them is taken without verifications, some of them cannot see what's wrong with Buhari government no matter what. One particular yoruba woman was telling me that Nigeria was better during GEJ era because GEJ was sacrificing Nigerians through bokoharam. She meant GEJ used bokoharam to carry out rituals. Surprisingly, these were passed down to the uneducated among us by the educated population through media. We know how influential the educated hausa youth can be on the less educated. You see, my point is, can we do something to take off these tribal sentiments and push our nation to a better place as youths? Can we work together for a better political environment irrespective of our tribal or religion disparities and push our nation forward developmentally? |
SuperWorld:I don't understand you. |
Stellamariss:Lol. I hear o. But your reasons for liking it is one of the reason I need to change it. |
Stellamariss:Cool? Nah. It's a bad attitude. I've got to work hard to change me. You shoulda scolded me instead of saying it's cool. |
Stellamariss:Then your type shouldn't be given a gun and a free will to shoot. Cos you gonna gun down a brother. Seriously though, I don't keep my money in the bank anymore when I'm working towards a goal. I reinvest immediately cause overtime, I've discovered that when I go through the pains of not spending the money on myself, someone, (moda, sister or gf) can make me spend it on another purpose. This is why I will rather go with a lady is more prudent in spending than I am. This way, we would be able to prioritise the family first no matter what happened to the people around us. |
Damsel in distress.... like, even when I sense it's crocodile tears, I just can't handle a crying beauty.... I've been trying to work on it for years but I couldn't. My ex who knows this as my weak point once used it against me. She just cheated on me and confesses it to me. Despite the annoyance, a month after I broke up, she needed to pay her house rent in her finals and when she started that crocodile tears, I sent it to her immediately even though that was all I had at that period. My immediate elder sister uses this against me always too. |
