In that same Malaysia, some Nigerians have been awarded the 'BEST DRUGS COURIER AND GET RICH ANYHOW' by the Malaysia Anti-Narcotics Agency. ![]() Excerpts are below: https://www.naij.com/439371-nigerian-female-student-sentenced-to-death-in-malaysia.html http://guardian.ng/news/suspected-nigerian-drug-peddler-sentenced-to-death-in-malaysia/ |
A 41-year-old man, Raymond Anyanwu, who reportedly raped and impregnated his 15 years old daughter, said that frustration led him into the act. Anyanwu, who committed the offence at Ajao Estate, Isolo, said: “I started sleeping with my 15-year-old daughter sometime around January, after I lost my job. “I am a transporter, but I took to alcohol after I lost my job and could not meet up with my responsibilities as the head of the house.” Vanguard gathered that Raymond Anyanwu sleeps with his daughter when his wife has gone to work. However, trouble started after the victim’s aunty suspected that she was pregnant. After carrying out a test at home, they discove-red she was pregnant. The victim, it was learned, revealed that her father was responsible for her pregnancy, and the mother decided to play it down as a family issue after her husband beat her up, warning her not to disclose the incident to anyone. Vanguard learned that Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development alerted the police and the suspect was arrested last Wednesday. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother had arranged for an abortion, which had been carried out before she was rescued and taken into protective custody by the Lagos State government. The case, which is currently being investigated at the Gender Unit of Lagos State Police Command, will be charged to Ikeja Magistrate’s Court today. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/started-sleeping-daughter-frustration/

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested four school-leavers for allegedly producing adulterated engine oil. The suspects, John Ibem, Lawrence Frank, Agu Ndubuisi and Samuel Chukwuonye, were paraded on Friday at the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC in Ikeja. It was learnt that they were apprehended on Thursday at a factory on Marine Bridge Street, Apapa, where the lubricant was produced in large quantity. The factory owner, identified simply as Emeka, took to his heels and was still at large as of the time of filing this report. PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects branded the counterfeit product in the name of a leading lubricant producer in the country in order to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. Five jerrycans containing the counterfeit product and a bucket of gum used in the factory were said to have been recovered by the security operatives. However, the suspects did not disclose the price at which they sold a jerrycan of the adulterated lubricant. It was learnt that same quantity of the original engine oil was sold for N5,000. Ndubuisi, 19, who hails from Ebonyi State, said five drums of the counterfeit oil with 250 litres each were produced daily at the factory. The teenager, who said he was paid N8,000 per week, added that he wanted to use his wages to fund his higher education. He said, “I am one of the manufacturers at the factory. We produce about five drums per day. The oil is packaged inside four-litre jerrycans. But I don’t know the price for each. It is our boss, Emeka, that markets the product. He does not disclose the price to us. He gives me N8,000 per week. I just finished my secondary school and I intend to continue my education.” Twenty-three-year-old Chukwuonye from Anambra State said he did not know the factory produced adulterated engine oil until he was arrested. “I was arrested the first day I worked with them,” he added. Ibem, an indigene of Abia State, who regretted working at the factory, said his role was to package the oil into jerrycans in readiness for sale. He said, “I joined the factory in February 2015. I collected N8,000 per week. My work is to package the oil for sale but it is our boss that takes it to the market.” Twenty-three-year-old Frank, said, “My duty is to load the product inside buses for it to be taken to the market. But I don’t know where it is sold. I know it is adulterated. It was joblessness that made me join the factory. I just finished from secondary school last year.” Two other suspects – 50-year-old Kehinde Atanda and Johnson Uche, 25, – were also paraded on Friday for alleged adulteration and illegal dealing in oil. But Atanda, who hails from Kwara State, said, “I sell oil in Apapa. I normally buy remnants of oil in Apapa and I give it to Uche to help me filter it. I have been doing the business for seven years. I wanted to collect the refined oil from him when I was arrested.” Uche, 25, confirmed to our correspondent that he assisted Atanda to filter the alleged remnants of oil. The Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos Command, Tajudeen Balogun, said his men swooped on the suspects based on intelligence report, adding that they would face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others. He said, “They were caught where they were doing illegal mixing. The oil can destroy car engines. A laboratory test is ongoing on the product in order to confirm its counterfeit nature and to serve as evidence against them.” http://punchng.com/school-leavers-arrested-for-producing-fake-engine-oil/

1. Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world with an architectural height of 2716.5 feet or 828.0 meters. Its occupied height (height of the floor occupied by people) is 1918 feet or 584.5 meters. Its total height measured from its tip is 2723 feet or 829.8 meters. 2. The observatory deck of the building is located at a height of 1483 feet or 452.1 meters. 3. There are 163 floors located above the ground and it has only one floor located below the ground. It has 58 functional elevators that run at a top speed of 10 meters per second. Burj Khalifa boast 2957 parking spaces, 304 hotels and 900 apartments. 4. The Gross Floor Area of the tower is 3,331,140 ft2 or 309,473 m2. The Gross Floor Area is the area within the footprint of the tower and does not include connected buildings and adjoining podiums. 5. The developer/owner of the tower is Emaar and its design architect is Skidmore Owings & Merill and architect of record is Hyder Consulting. 6. MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) engineer as well as structural engineer is Skidmore Owings & Merill. 7. Turner Construction was the project manager for Burj Khalifa while Besix, Arabtec and Samsung C&T Corporation were its main contractors. Dow Corning Corporation supplied sealants for the tower while Otis Elevator Company supplied the elevators. 8. Located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, this tower was initially named as Burj Dubai. The building was proposed in 2003 but construction work started in 2004 and was completed in 2010. 9. Burj Khalifa is the tallest tower in Dubai, UAE, Middle East and World. It is 3 times as tall as Eiffel Tower and two times taller than Empire State Building. 10. The tower also holds world records for: 'tallest free standing building', 'highest occupied floor', 'highest number of stories', 'longest travel distance elevators', 'tallest service elevator' and 'second highest outdoor observatory deck'. Record for highest outdoor observation deck is now held by Canton Tower which was officially opened in December 2011. 11. Total aluminum used in the tower weighs as much as 5 A380 aircraft. Total concrete used in the tower weighs as much as 100,000 elephants. 12. During peak construction days, 12,000 workers were engaged every day. 13. '22 million man-hours', '55,000-ton steel rebar' and '110,000-ton concrete' were used to complete the construction of the tower in 6 years. 14. Skidmore Owings & Merill is an American architect firm and they developed the structural system called 'buttressed core' that supports 163 floors of the building. 15. So much rebar was used in the construction of Burj Khalifa that if they were laid down end-to-end, the total length would be one-quarter of the total way across the globe. 16. 26,000 glass panels cut individually were used to create the exterior of the building. 300 Chinese cladding experts worked together to design a cladding system for the tower that could withstand Dubai's summer heat. 17. Burj Khalifa requires a supply of 250,000 gallons of water each day and total electricity consumption of the building is equivalent to the electricity consumed by 360,000 bulbs of 100-watt each burning at the same time. 18. The building has a specially designed elevator system for controlled evacuation during emergency situations like security threats or fire. 19. The building has 12 machines of 13 tons each moving along tracks constructed outside the building. 36 cleaners board these machines to clean the 24,000 reflective windows of the tower. 20. The design of the tower is inspired by the shape of Hymenocallis flower. The flower is known for its long petals extending out from its center. http://factslegend.org/20-facts-burj-khalifa/
