Thirty minutes more to SENTENCING and counting down............but there might be disappointment if high level compromises have been made.

Shina Peters said 'grammar no be success' when he made his famous, i wish him soonest recover' sometimes in the 90s and he is today very okay materially and more polished grammatically. Victor should take a cue from this and improve his English language construction ability rather than be trying to speak like the English themselves. Come to think of it, he never played in a purely English-speaking country if my memory serves me right; he played in Belgium and France!!

Politics › Fashola: Jonathan's Wife (patience) Insensitive To People's Plight- Your Thought by gulfer(op): 1:30pm On Apr 16, 2012
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola

By Gboyega Akinsanmi

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola yesterday said First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan was very insensitive to the plight of ordinary citizens residing in Lagos metropolis.

Fashola made the comment in reaction to a protracted traffic congestion occasioned by the arbitrary blockage of strategic roads on Lagos Island by Jonathan's security operatives on Thursday.

Fashola, who responded to the situation at a retreat organised for members of the State Executive Council and permanent Secretaries, condemned the approach of Jonathan's security aides.

According to the governor, it was brazen show of insensitivity to the plight of the ordinary Nigerians that chose Lagos as their homes.
He explained that the approach indeed caused traffic jam that constrained motorists and road users, most of whom were reportedly groaning under heavy traffic congestion for hours while business activities in the state were adversely affected.

He said the situation which lasted for hours grounded business activities across the metropolis, mainly in areas such as Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Ahmadu Bello Way (on Victoria Island) through Alfred Rewane Road (formerly Kingsway Road), Awolowo Road (in Ikoyi); Catholic Mission Street, through Igbosere Road and Simpson Street, leaving several commuters trekking to their destinations.

Fashola said: “Lagos residents were terribly discomfiture yesterday with the traffic jam, needlessly, if I must say and it reasons on me the need for public officers generally to be more sensitive to the people we serve.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/fashola-jonathans-wife-insensitive-to-peoples-plight/113694/
I was caught up in the horrendous traffic for upward of 2hrs on that Thursday.

If Shehu Sanni can say it is a waste, then why are we arguing because he should know what people in the North need right now. GEJ should do consultations before implementing (starting) some of these 1980 plans that had been kept for so long by successive government. He should work on the country's current dynamics and Almajiri school up North is not one of them.

Secede to where and become what? Whomever came up with the report should be jailed for leading the government (GEJ) astray. Even before his election we know him to tend towards Islamic fundamentalism even in the way he dresses etc; so where was the clearance to contest report then by the State Security Service (SSS)?

Like the amnesty programme; a waste of resources! The middle class that was eroded is the cause of these issues and GEJ should retrace steps taken by his predecessors that led us to this pariah and put in place workable programmes that can bring back the middle class' prosperity.

Good move but how effectively will it work?
Have you heard about the noisemakers; the IGP has joined them? How he hopes to tackle i don't see cos this is so well ingrained that even a one-man business CEO has a police orderly who carries his bag at a price. Will he be willing to pay this price and ensure adequate remuneration? I think not.

Politics › Jonathan’s Wife Paralyses Lagos Traffic-saw HELL Leaving The Island Today! by gulfer(op): 8:34pm On Apr 12, 2012
Traffic on Lagos Island, particularly on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, was paralysed for several hours today as security agents cordoned off some areas because Patience, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan was attending an event on the Island.
Mrs. Jonathan, who also attended an event yesterday evening in Lagos, also caused a severe traffic jam on the Island.
Commuters and motorists groaned today while trapped in the traffic that stretched all the way to Lekki.
The situation had not abated at the time of filing this report this afternoon.
The president’s wife was said to be in Lagos for a two-day visit to thank Lagosians for voting for her husband in the April 2011 presidential election and to mobilise women to pray against the menace of Boko Haram.http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/04/12/jonathans-wife-paralyses-lagos-traffic/

You seem to have a point; and so SAD if TRUE!

Why are these so called elders out to confuse an already Confused GEJ? They should allow him put in a good shift of the first term and not only some kai-kai (monkey tail) drinking elders will endorse him but everybody including the north.

I read it too and was seriously wracking my brains where they got this (facts huh); like @Jcob said we spend a lot importing. We can truly be 1st -3rd if only we have exportable basics even to just the sub-Sahara Africa alone. Who is even keeping records of trade, how are we able to quantify all the slips through our porous borders in and out of the country and those unrecorded by unscrupulous security agents saddled with same.

Plan A5, was the damage control strategy. The President would come out with the statement that he was not part of the plot all along, and that he abstained from taking sides over the third term issue throughout the debate. He was neutral and now that NASS had decided, he believed democracy had won and it was time for us to work together and heal the wounds of national unity.
I guess he took the option above!

Fair achievement for a team not expected to even get past Arsenal. Anyways, we concentrate on the Serie A and make quality additional signings in 2012/2013 to be able to challenge for the CL again. Milan played against 15 players.

Politics › Re: Obasanjo Denies Ever Requesting For 3rd Term.. by gulfer: 1:29pm On Apr 06, 2012
Below is Masari talking about how they killed the 3rd term ambition of OBJ.
“We knew what we were doing when we asked every member to make his/her views public before the cameras,” Masari says in an exclusive interview with your favourite Saturday Sun, adding: “We didn’t want anyone hiding behind a finger. Because it was an unpopular idea, the rep members had to be mindful of his/her actions and utterances. I ensured that every member answered his father’s name.”

The ex-Speaker confessed that he indeed, faced enormous pressures from the General at Aso Rock. “There were all kinds of pressures,” Masari says. “But at the end, one had to do what was right before God and man. So many things happened before and even after the death of third term.”

Any regrets for what some would call a suicidal action (standing against the General’s raging ambition?) “Absolutely, no regret,” he says, his voice rising above its normal level. “If given the chance, I will do the same thing again. Because you don’t amend the law because of one person, no matter how good he is. Doing so will be creating a precedence. If the current ruler is doing very well, you amend the law to accommodate him to continue doing very well. In the same system a bad ruler can use it to also perpetuate himself and create havoc.
OBJ also sent some of his ministers to United States to lobby the Americans on the plan. He is a pure hypocrite who thinks we all have short memories. Recently, he appealed to the Senegalese to concede to Wade's 3rd term but was refused (trying to achieve what he failed to achieve in Nigeria in Senegal)

Politics › Re: IGP Abubakar Warns Police Orderlies Against Carrying Politicians’ Bags by gulfer: 1:05pm On Apr 06, 2012
What happened to the officers in these picture, were they investigated and made to face the consequences of their action? Answer is NO and we all know the IG is blabbing about policemen not making themselves bag carriers. Police officers especially the low ranks know that it is better and more rewarding to carry a politician, Oyinbo, Asian bag than to carry AK-47 about on less than N50,000 monthly. He should improve the system, give them a meaning for their lives in the force and watch them call the bluff of the Asians and lesser politician but for now; status quo remains.
