WONDERS SHALL NEVER END. THIS MAN WILL ALWAYS MAKE YOU LAUGH WITH HIS TRIVIALISING NATIONAL MATTERS.He turned FRCN and NTA to a political propganda machine while in power. When you think he is out of your face, he turns up with another mischief. I cannot remember the last time other preseidents before and after him got in our faces, even the unbiquitous IBB except during the lead in to the elections Obasanjo Wants More Radio Stations To Drive Development Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed the need to harness the enormous power inherent in radio communication as a vehicle for reaching a mass audience within a short space of time. He said in spite of this, its potential has not been fully explored and utilised by government and private individuals to drive development in Nigeria. Obasanjo spoke today at his Hill-Top residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, outhwest Nigeria, when the management of Paramount FM and officials of the Ibadan South-West zonal office of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria [FRCN] paid him a courtesy visit. Obasanjo added that for the country to develop faster than it is now, and for the citizens to be effectively mobilised in that direction, there should be more radio stations across the country so that the majority of the people could be informed and participate in the developmental issues that affect them. ” I have to say what I have already said, that I appreciate the power of the media especially the radio, although they don’t use them as they ought to. I believe that to fast track development in our country, you need to use the radio more than we have; we should use the radio more than we are using it,” Obasanjo said. The Zonal team consisting of representatives from FRCN’s controlled stations in Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun, Edo and Delta states respectively, was led by the Zonal Director, Elder Dada Ogundele from Ibadan, Oyo State. Earlier, the FRCN team told Obasanjo, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] that they were in Abeokuta to show appreciation for establishing more FRCN stations across the country during his eight years administration and to solicit for “building materials and funds” in support of the various FRCN FM stations. The former President noted that everybody’s role is critical to the developmental process of the country particularly, the roles of those in the media, and advised that people should use the opportunity entrusted in them to drive development in Nigeria. “We are all holding important responsibility in our quest for development. It should be discharged for good. And radio as a medium, holds tremendous reach, opportunity and influence. The beauty of radio is that wherever you may be, you will be able to use it,” Obasanjo noted. http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/08/24/obasanjo-wants-more-radio-stations-to-drive-development/ |
This is what you get from the sattelite campuses that are churning out half-baked graduates. I work in industrial security and have seen countless managers with worse English communication skills than you get in Punjab. We have listened to many national leaders (senators, reps, governors down to LG bosses) go on air to disgrace our educational system with unpardonable errors in written and spoken english. This is commendable from Alkali and he needs to raise the bar also for those already in service. If you have ever had to obtain a police report, you must surely understand what i am driving at. |
ABUJA-Minister of State for Health, Dr Muhammed Pate, yesterday expressed displeasure at the death of a woman during child birth at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, describing the circumstances of her death as unacceptable. The Minister, who visited the hospital on a fact-finding mission, said: “This is a case of maternal mortality happening in a tertiary hospital, it is really regrettable and unacceptable, and there is no reason for a woman to die on a normal physiological exercise of pregnancy case. “It is not acceptable for a pregnant woman undergoing labour to fall off the table, develops puerperal psychosis and then go on to die, it is not acceptable.” Pate informed the hospital management that appropriate action or sanction by the Ministry would be conveyed to all concerned, after a thorough investigation of the circumstances that led to the woman’s death. He, however, dismissed explanations offered by the hospital management for the incidence, saying “I don’t buy the idea of psychosis, let us not look into that until the investigation is concluded.” Explaining the circumstance of the woman’s death, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr. Teddy Agida, said after the woman could not be delivered through the normal process, the hospital was left with no choice than to opt for caesarean operation. He added that the patient fell off the table in what he described as “emergency situation” within the labour theatre. Agida also informed the minister that though she recovered on the fourth day, her case compounded when she started displaying irrational behaviour and later died on the 4th of this month. The deceased, 26-year-old Mrs Nana Lasisi, was said to have fallen from a theatre table during labour, which later led to injuries on her head, after which she was confirmed dead on August 4, 2011, leaving behind a new born baby boy. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/08/minister-slams-uniabuja-teaching-hospital-over-womans-death/ |

@Yusuf, like the constitution and all laws in Nigeria, implementation is selective. I have seen an acting governor's escort team and drivers drinking heavily at a party with the governor and 1st lady scheduled to be transported/escorted back to state house, How much worse could it get? Road safety has a penalty of a paltry N5,000 in their offences and penalties table, So what else but a horde of drunk drivers on our roads. GOD help us. |
Any chance of you posting the VIN on this forum? |
While i do not like remembering the 10th of July for obvious reasons (many lives were lost) but the recent upsurge in registered vehicles being sold is alarming and i wonder if this has any connection with the after the rains problems? And this is not just referring to Nairaland. |
Well said guys. my own issue with them is that the website is trash and after registering i beliebve one should be able to check the status online but this appears not to be. |

Kayode area off Ikorodu road; 0<5hrs before a petition and decision to stop paying. >5hrs<10hrs, after the notice to the PHCN contractors in the area (a week+ now). |
USPS is fast and reliable. They don't toy with the country's name, not like NIPOST, nobody cares about the nation's name. |
All blackberrys can run the opera browser, you only need to go to the mini.opera.com and select your phone category. Blackberrys will not instal the opera jar or jad file of opera but will install the alx or cod files. It is best done OTA. |
It appears poster only wants compliments about the car. He is apparently unready to sell. Let me start, E clean O, E bam OO, u go use am tay OOO, A willing seller will not be requested to give VIN and Mileage. These will rather come first and you will need to request the picture than the reverse process we have here, |
Please what help is available for a blackberry storm 1 that fell in water. Phone's all dried and running but the screen appears to have been damaged in the process. Anyone with similar experience and how did you solve it? |
@annisboy, obviously many people in nigeria are so befuddled with the usual mechanic gimmick of 'that vehicle is problematic', which is why the vehicle has stayed for so long on the advert board. I recently got one with about double the odometer yours is displaying; the landing cost came to about N1.450million and let me tell you, I would have gladly picked up this from you had the advert came sooner. That is dependant on the VIN check not returning with falsified records flag especially the odometer. To me, these trucks are sexy and strong, hope you sell soon. |
@Femmy201 and Emperoh, thanks for the advise, just needed to be assured i wasnt being taken for a ride. |
Forum gurus, my car landed in june (2nd week) and up till now my clearing agent has failed to get my custom card. Do i risk anything travelling with it as he continues to tell me i should not worry but carry all my papers (copies) if i must travel. Does anyone smell a RAT!!!!!? |

Man, this post is from way back 2008; I wonder why you threw it up again and you are not even the original poster. There may actually be a mix up, if so always check, double-check before posting. |
Please, what is the price of OBD service in Lagos? |
@Mpeg, there is certainly more behind this incident and certainly something between you two that you have not divulged here. Come to the table with more facts and you'll be amazed at what creative solutions guys on NL can come up with. I don't envy you and certainly your situation, lol. |
