Politics › Nursing Mother Jailed 7 Days For Stealing Indomie- What A Country! by gulfer(op): 6:31am On Nov 18, 2011
An Osogbo Senior Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a 28-year old nursing mother, Taye Joseph, to seven days of community service for stealing a carton of indomie.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the convict was to be kept in the custody of Ataoja Police Station in Osogbo from where she was expected to be coming to clean the court’s premises for seven days.
Senior Magistrate Olusola Aluko, however, gave an option of N300 fine for each of the seven-count charges brought against the convict.
Joseph had pleaded guilty to the seven-count charges of conspiracy, house-breaking as well as stealing and asked for leniency.
The police prosecutor, Solomon Oladele, told the court that the woman committed the offences, which contravened sections 516, 383, 413 and 390, of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, on November 16, at Olugun area in Osogbo.
Oladele, while presenting the facts of the case during a summary trial, told the court that Joseph forcefully entered the shop of one Fasilat Yinusa and stole a carton of indomie noodles valued at N1, 200.

He added that the woman stole some biscuits, Viju milk, eggs, packets of cigarettes and Bournvita among other items from the shops of Mulikat Agbeja and Folasade Suleieman.
According to Oladele, one Falola Saidi sighted the convict while trying to escape with the stolen items and raised an alarm which enabled passersby to apprehend her.
Aluko, in his jugdment, said : “Throughout the trial period, I watched the convict keenly as she wept which indicated that she is regretting her action and I noticed that she is very sober.
“She is to be kept in the custody of the Ataoja Police Station from where she should be coming to clean the premises of this court for seven days.
“The convict should report at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m for the seven days and in the alternative, she should pay a fine of N300 for each of the seven count-charge brought against her.”

Remembered one in Ikoyi years back. The lady was killed by the hausa Maiguard and dumped in the soakaway pit. Pathetic when you read these stories of women who are naturally vulnerable even when protected. Living alone with the current insecurity and poverty that makes even your brother your enemy not to talk of helpers from varying background. Ladies firm up your security especially when living like the unfortunate hajia here.

razznaija:
Almost everyday we hear of the Nigerian police Killing innocent citizens. I think the Nigerian government should make them use tasers instead, at least it would save more lives.

And here is also a link, if you don't know what a taser is; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroshock_weapon
Don't even think about doing that because they misuse even batons and belts. Tazers will be used indiscriminately and FYI they can be lethal on some parts of the body. If this will be introduced, they require specila training and should be made to sign a code of conduct on use.

Is he serious? He has no solution then. That's just it. How do terrorists fade away?
Just like he has made POVERTY disappear from Nigeria. From Yar a' dua who was an unwilling president to a Jonathan who believes in luck and wishful thinking. We need a constructive thinker and solutions president and not one that rely on situations to be turned around miraculously without effort. He has been cowed in by the f***ing BH and cancelled the independence parade even with all the resources at his disposal.
Christianity Etc › Re: I Am Tired Of Going To Church by gulfer: 12:07pm On Nov 11, 2011
Anybody going through this same thing? I mean, there is so much false teachings these days. A pastor tries to switch things in the bible to suit his purpose.Too much idolization of an ordinary man just because he started a church.

I love God and want to serve him in spirit and in truth. I want to read my bible and other christian books by myself at home. I want to pray on my own and watch channels like TBN where i can screen the types of messages i hear. I don't mind home fellowship with like minds. I'm just tired of structured church setup. As far as i'm concerned, orthodox, white garment, pentecostal etc are all the same.

Please fellow Christians, hope i ain't wrong?
This is a germinating idea and i am sure you would in time go beyond just fellowship and start up a church ala what you want in a church. Most of the pentecostal churches here in the country started as that, 'my idea of a church'. Last but not least, picture the happening in the church as the world where things are not as they should be but there is liberty to chose either to join or not. Look for a bible believing church and serve GOD as you would want. Try my church, Yaba Baptict Church; where christ is the answer.

@Poster, i would be interested in this post as i also use a mitsubishi. What brand do you use? Will do you a world of good to have the car's manual as some of the problems i have had it mine were resolved just by reading the prints and checking online. Pull the code first and get the resolutions to the code on the internet before going to a mechanic. i think there used to be a guy on NL using a scanner; used him once, got out the code, googled it and instructed the mechanic on what to do and problem was resolved.

Exactly what i intended to draw out, money would be deducted without user's knowledge. I checked my vehicle VIN without a warning on the deduction. I will expect that a disclosure policy be introduced here to ensure payments are made willingly and not the reverse.
In the west, you are given a full brief that underlines a transaction by the sites. i do not check my phone credit often and so cannot say it was deducted. I commend the effort to have autochecNG and thought free as mentioned in my initial comments on the first post about this

I attended Lautech Ogbomosho and the under-G road was secondary then-we made use of the Ogbomoso-Ilorin road. Under-G was for when you do not have money topay T-fare (trek-path). I hate to hear such of my school and for you seedord247, its unfortunate you speak this way. It is not your business if someone decides to keep a '97' 0r '70' car as long as he is comfortable with it. Soemone with a peugeot 504 bequetted to him and seen as a heirloom has the right to use it and if stolen has the right to report in forums like this.
