The first thing could have been trying to clear the corruption in the subsidy regime afterwards phased removal of the subsidies which could then be reallocated to public transportation/agriculture/health

Libya population is less than 7 million people lagos is estimated to be 35 million persons. You cannot compare each country budget size per gdp.

The smuggling claim by nnpc is false because the amount of fuel tanker required to move those fuel over the boarder on daily basis is large and you cannot fit them into one's pocket. What happens is either nnpc official buy those fuel before it get to Nigeria they document the arrival and then they immediately transfer the fuel to another ship which Is then sold to in the international market or they simply don't import the fuel at all and just document the fuel has arrived.

Check out Egypt too as they also have a large population but still sell cheap fuel.
In Nigeria we have the more you look the less you see.

Nigeria oil in the most expensive in the world for ot citizens because APC bastardized the naira. Increase the pump price in a clear indication this government have lost all hope and faith they can fix the naira. If not their focus would be to fix the naira instead and not increase the fuel.

Just imagine dollars goes back to 160 for a moment.

Tinubu destroyed Nigeria because of selfish interest.

The weakness of the naira excalated the price of petrol.
We now have a confused Government in place inflicting serious pains on its citizens.
For Benin Republic currency to be stronger than the naira tells you how ridiculous the country is being run.

The truth is that under subsidy, nnpc loses money per liter of fuel sold.

Best way is to let fuel be sold at market price. That means more investment in domestic refining which means competition which means price reduction.

If you were right, by now nnpc would have been a global company.

When they are paying themselves huge salaries and allowances without refining a single barrel of oil themselves why won't they go bankrupt.
An average NNPC worker earns millions of naira annually talkless the directors and executives.
Please let's not go there.

I saw this from my Google search and from what I noticed ,Libya also an oil rich country like Nigeria is the lowest with barely 0.03 dollar per litre .
Currently in Nigeria, we now have a dollar exchanging to 1600 naira and fuel is now sold at 1300 naira and very soon they may become equal
So what is now the benefit to Nigerians of becoming an oil rich producing nation?
We are now making use of the gas prices of the United state of America when we don't have the economy of the USA.
